There are some things you just have to deal with.Like your hot as hell college booty call moving in next door with his adorable daughter. The only time we’ve ever gotten along is under the sheets. Old habits die hard because two minutes on my front porch is how long it takes us to bicker. Not that a little fact like that bothers my healthy, eighty-year-old grandmother and roommate who’s determined … roommate who’s determined to see me married before she bites the dust.
Unfortunately for me, she’s got her eye set on Mason Black.
She’s barking up the wrong tree. He’s not The One, no matter how much I swoon when I see him with his daughter. I have no intentions of rekindling anything with him–until a rubber spider in my mailbox starts off the mother of all neighborhood prank wars, just like the ones we had in college, and throws me right into his path.
One that leads right to his bedroom…

Emma Hart is the freakin’ queen of rom-com everywhere!!! And it shows in her newest book Frenemies. This book was a down right laughing good time. I laughed so hard….just pure sexy fun.
Imogen is an artist and art store owner. She lives with her crazy grandmother and babysits grandma’s erotic book club every week. More like a gossip slash drink social. She is a fun loving beautiful person. Life is good till the man who broke her heart moves in next door.
Mason is a single father. Moving to be closer to his daughter has been a long and rough road. But he finally got it done, now if he can just unpack. What Mason did not expect to see while unloading the moving truck is a blast from his past. The girl he never called.
For Imogen and Mason, their past was never truly a relationship, but more of a booty call. Since they never really got along outside of the bedroom, who could call it more than that. So why after all this time would things be any different.
Hating each other has become a game. A game that Imogen plans to win at all costs. Paybacks a bitch in this love and war game for two. Let’s just hope nobody gets hurt from the prank war gone wrong. If you leave up to grandma they will be married off in a week! Can’t mind her own business, that one.
Will our two love birds put aside differences and actually become friends or something more? Well you will just have to pick up a copy and find out.
Overall this book is a barrel of fun. With snarky comebacks and devious intentions, this book is sure to keep you on your toes or have you dying from fits of laughter. Let’s not forget the hot sexy factor….Mason. Mmmmm Mmmm that man is hot!!! Him and his co-star Imogen are a hot commodity and hilarious to boot. You are guaranteed to be entertained. So pick up your copy today.
Frenemies is the new romantic comedy from Emma Hart. The book is about Imogen, a singleton who runs an art supplies store and lives with her Grandma Jen.
When a new man sparks interest moving in next door, Jen can’t help but curtain twitch to see what he’s like, ensuring Imogen grabs a look at the new ‘hot man’ in town. But to Imogen’s horror, she is already very familiar with said man! He just so happens to be her friends with benefits college fling who went and broke her heart.
With Mason Black’s return, and Imogen our for revenge, will these frenemies bury the hatchet?
A fun easy read that will have you laughing. Jen is extremely saucy for a woman of 80, and she shamelessly flirts. She is a meddler but with the best intentions. Some of the pranks were well thought out, and I am a sucker for single father romances!
If you are looking for a page-turner which will break a smile, this is for you.
God Bless Grandma Jen. The only thing wrong with this book was that it ended. Friends, pick it up. You won’t be sorry!
*I received a free advanced copy of this book from the author for my honest review.*
This might be my new favorite Emma Hart book… it was just so funny and adorable. I am a sucker for the single father trope, as well as friends/enemies to lovers, and this combined them all very well.
Immy and Mason start their new neighbor relationship with an all-out prank war, which was super amusing. It brought back a lot of my own college memories. But to see them grow into friends, then admitting the feelings they’ve always had was amazing. I love their friendship and how comfortable they are together despite the years apart.
Mason’s daughter, Immy’s grandmother, and a puppy who refuses to behave fill the book with a variety of comedy to balance out the trouble Immy has from moving on from the past. I also love that Mason is friends with his ex/daughter’s mother. I think that really added to his lovable personality (as if him caring for his three year old didn’t already melt my heart). There are also, of course, the steamy scenes. The first time he kisses her… I went back and read those couple lines like three times because I loved it so much. Arguing before kissing will always be one of my favorite things in a book, and this one was perfect.
As always, Emma did a great job of sucking me into the story and keeping me there. It was very hard to put down! The only reason this review is so late is because I’ve been insanely busy. Things should be calming down in the next week or two, which is good because I really need to go through and read all of Emma’s older books now!

Another great Emma Hart rom-com. Mason and Imogen had great chemistry between the sheets and great bickering out of them when they were in college. But then Mason graduates and promises to call Imogen but doesn’t, and that hurts her. Now it appears that Mason is moving in next door, has a three year old daughter and is just as hot and impossibly annoying as before. When Imogen’s eighty year old grandmother (who just happens to live with her) decides that she is going to play matchmaker, her no filter mouth and inappropriate friends bring great hilarity. Mason’s daughter is so adorably cute that you just want to take her home with you. Witty, flirty and fun – another winner.
Emma Hart writes some the absolute best romcoms. Her characters are hilarious but still have depth to them. Her secondary characters will have you laughing so hard you cry.
Mason, Immy, Maya and Grandma Jennifer are some of my favorite characters of hers. Who doesn’t want a spunky Grandma that hosts a ”book club”.
Immy is living her life and she likes it. She is running her Grandma’s art shop, teaching classes and when needed babysitting her Grandma and her book club. A new neighbor throws everything in her world out of whack and makes her deal with some issues she had just pushed out of her mind.
Mason has moved to be closer to his daughter and as luck would have it closer to his college love, who he has never really gotten over. Mason has a lot to atone for in Immy’s eyes but with the help of his adorable daughter, Immy’s meddling Grandmother, Mason is hoping he can get Immy to come around and give him a second chance.
Loved this book and can’t wait for this author’s next book.
“…but here’s what you aren’t considering, Mason.” … “When you graduated and said you were going to call me but didn’t, you really, really hurt me. The thing with hurt is it doesn’t go away overnight. You either deal with it or you don’t, and it doesn’t matter that it was years ago, because apparently I didn’t. So when I saw you moving in, all that hurt I’d hidden away came back. Now, if you think I’m a bitch for not wanting to be anywhere near you, fine. Think it. I’m no less of a bitch than you were an asshole six years ago. The only difference now is that you’re able to call me on my shitty attitude. That wasn’t a luxury I was afforded.”
This book was so much more than I was expecting. I knew I was going to laugh out loud and fall in love with Imogen’s grandmother, but I wasn’t anticipating that my heart would be break and then be put back together. Mason and Imogen had a bit to get through, but they created a beautiful love. Not to mention, I actually kinda love Mason’s ex and her husband, too. Not to mention, I’ll never look at book club the same way again!
I’ve come to really love reading Emma Hart’s stories. She always makes ma laugh, fills my heart, and creates an amazing world filled with family and friends I’d never want to live without. I can’t wait to finish the series!
Emma Hart and her RomComs are always my go to, I love her characters, her covers, and everything about her stories. Frenemies was amazing as I knew it was going to be. This was a book about frenemies who become so much more.
I loved Immy and Mason, the chemistry between these two was off the charts, their banter had me laughing and loving them so hard. This was a slow burn, which made things so much more interesting and epic whenever these two finally got together.
Another must read, this book will have you smiling, swooning, and laughing so much.
Laugh-out-loud goodness!
I adore Emma Hart’s characters and stories because they make me literally laugh out loud and I lost count of how many times I lol’ed while reading Frenemies!
Life starts getting awfully complicated for Imogen when the man that never called her back move next door, years later!
Mason is now a single dad and his life revolves around his little girl.
Fate brought them both together but Imogen is not ready to forgive and forget! Imogen is a cracker!
Grandma Jen is the best of the best and made me miss my gran so deeply. She is witty, sassy and says the things that need to be said, and does so eloquently and hilariously! She calls a spade a spade for sure!! However she has the best intentions at heart…
She knows that Mason will be her son in law soon but is she right?
Frenemies has an extremely satisfying storyline which ticks all the boxes.
Frenemies by Emma Hart was such a fun read and I devoured it. I mean who does not love a single-dad? Mason and Immy knew each other very well in college. But that was a long time ago, right? But sometime life and well, Immy’s grandma has other plans and his daughter is just so adorable. Then the pranks start and well you just have to read to find out more! I loved their chemistry and banter so much. Frenemies by Emma Hart was a sweet and charming second chance romance that left me feeling happy. I smiled and just got lost in their story.
Happy reading!
4 I Laughed My Way Through this Book Stars!!!
I can always count on Emma Hart giving me a book that will bring me out of any book funk I may be in. Her humor is on point, especially when there’s kids and a grandma involved! Frenemies is on point with the one-liners from Mayson, Immy and her Grandma Jen! Through in the cutie patootie Maya, Mayson’s four-year old daughter and I was laughter heaven.
Mayson and Immy have quite a history and he really hurt her years ago after he graduated college and as much as Immy wants to think she’s over him and the hurt, it’s just brought all back to the forefront of her life when he moves next door! They’re so snarky to each other and Grandma Jen is a freaking hoot!! She’s got absolutely no filter, not that Immy has one either but she does maintain some sense of decorum… but Jen not so much!!
This was a fast moving book and I loved reading every word. I found myself snort laughing at the pranks they tried to pull on each other, someone more successful than the other and getting little doses of Maya at just the right moments truly lit up my heart! I cannot wait to get Hannah’s book because I already know it’s going to be a doozy!!

Immy and Mason dated in college and, at graduation, lost touch with one another when he didn’t call when he said he would.
So, she’s mad at him and holds a grudge (which is totally reasonable) and is less than thrilled when he moves in next door. Also understandable.
I am not always the biggest fan of books where the characters play pranks on one another, as sometimes they can go too far and the pranks become harmful and nasty, but this title never went to that point, so I was able to stay engaged and laughing while still enjoying the romance.
I enjoyed this title and recommend it for fans of Emma Hart as well as for fans of light-hearted romantic comedy.
Immy and Mason were hilarious!!!! Throw in her nosy grandmother?!?! Priceless!!! Immy and Mason has a complicated relationship in college. They never kept in contact after ending whatever it is they had. Six years later they are neighbors and boy is it funny. She can’t let go the fact that he’s never called her and he wonders if he made a mistake letting her go. It’s funny with all the secondary characters involved giving their two cents on their complicated relationship. It’s such a fun read with no drama and a nosy grandmother and an adorable 3 year old.
Omg loved it!!!! When a book catches my eye (this cover is awesome) and the content is hilarious it’s a recipe for an awesome read. Imogen and Mason have such a great attraction but they fight it took and nail. Being hurt by him previously helps with the epic prank war they go on. The whole single dad vibe is such a cute added storyline. Definitely a 5 star read. This book will make you swoon and laugh all at the same time. Loved!

I voluntarily read an ARC of this book in exchange for honest review.
Frenemies by Emma Hart is a standalone in romcom genre. Immy and Mason are quite the pair and watching the two with their prank wars and hilarious banter is so much fun. It gave me a good laugh after long time.
Imogen and Mason used to be friends with benefits during college days. When they finished college, Mason promised he will call but never called. Even though they were aware of that their relationship was not serious, Immy was angry and hurt that he never called. Now 6 years later Mason moved in next door.
Immy is a starving artist who runs her families art studio and is happy with her life, however her meddlesome grandmother is aware of her and Mason’s history and wants to set them up again. Its not any insta love, the prank and scenarios surrounding their present gave me idea that normal love stories do exists like that.
Immy’s grandmother is a woman after my own heart with too much nosey character and I loved her blunt and dirty mouth. she interferes with her granddaughter’s love life to a greater extent. Grandma Jen is determined to find a suitor for Imogen before she dies, and unfortunately for Imogen, she’s got her sights set on their new neighbour.
Mason is now a hotshot Lawyer and a father of cute little 4 year old. The pranks and bicker between both of them will keep you entertained through out the book. This book is full of witty dialogue. Mason’s little girl, is the icing on the cupcake and she provides the cuteness factor to their story.
It was cute and laugh out loud book. It’s an easy going read. Looking forward to Hannah and Isaac’s book next! It’s a cute, lighthearted, fun rom-com and I enjoyed it so much! Go ahead pick it and enjoy reading.
When Emma Hart began concentrating solely on romantic comedies, she knew exactly what she was doing. Drawing from an seemingly endless well of creativity, she manages to offer up funny romantic stories again and again, and they just continue to get better. FRENEMIES, Emma’s latest offering, is a delight from start to finish. I instantly adored Imogen and Mason and their second-chance love.
Immy may still be harboring the hurt that came with Mason having ghosted her after college, but that hasn’t kept her from living a life that she loves. Sure, her Grandma Jen constantly needs watching, and she hasn’t had a date in a while, but Immy wouldn’t change a thing (well, maybe a little less of the extra with Grandma Jen…). When Mason and Maya, his little girl, move in next door, though, her calm life goes a little bit topsy-turvy.
Yes, Mason knows that he did Immy wrong all those years ago. But being in her space is stirring up all the memories of what they had, and helping him to realize that some wisdom and self-awareness has come with maturity, and he’s not about to let Immy get away again. Convincing her that they deserve a second chance might be tough, but it’s a feat that he’s more than willing to take on.
Emma has a gift for writing feisty strong women, sexy yet accessible men, and little kids that will steal your heart. The added bonus of a no-holds-barred grandmother and her coterie of trouble-making friends make FRENEMIES a serious keeper. If this book isn’t on your rom-com loving TBR, then it needs to be, and quickly, because NUMBER NEIGHBOR, the next standalone in this world, is just around the corner…
Frenemies is Emma Hart’s newest laugh out loud second chance enemies (sort of) to lovers! Imogen and Mason were friends with benefits in college. They went their separate ways, meaning he left and never called. Now he’s living next door to her and she realizes she never got over it. So now she vows to hate him! But you know what they say, there’s a fine line between love and hate. Mason can’t believe his luck when he finds out who his new neighbor is. The one who got away. He can’t regret it because then he wouldn’t have his daughter, Maya, but he thinks this might be a sign. He just has to put up with her antics and craziness and break her down, and her inappropriate grandma! It’s all fun and games until your forced to admit how you feel. I loved the banter, the fun, the inappropriateness! I loved that Mason was so laid back about everything, but he didn’t let Immy get to far away. He’s a good dad and Maya was too cute! I’m already looking forward to Hannah’s story!
4.5 stars
I love that Emma Hart has decided to play in the Rom-Com genre because she is doing a fantastic job at delivering laugh out loud books with engaging characters.
Imogen and Mason were no different. College hookups with no talk of anything more bit a few years later could there be just that? While interrupting her Gram’s perving on the new neighbor Imogen comes to realize that her past booty call has just took up residency on her street.
Let the games begin. Imogen and Mason are the perfect pair. Pranks and sassy aside these two have all the chemistry and fun needed to be the perfect couple. Well perfect for each other.
Let us not forget Emma also gives us amazing supporting characters in Gram Jen and Immy’s best friend, Hanna.
Grab your copy of Frenemies if you are in need of a well written story that will engage you and make you laugh and smile.
This one was so much fun!
There was an awful lot of laughing out loud over here while I read Frenemies–and yeah, there might even have been a little bit of snort-laughing as well. (Two words: Grandma Jen. Two more words: prank war.) I mean, you couldn’t help but wonder why the heck past Cameron and Imogen (OMG, love her name!) had been so dead set against being in a relationship, especially since they both secretly wanted to be in one, but at least it made for one heck of a fun story now 🙂
Honestly–a second chance romance between two likable characters, a feisty grandma, an adorable little girl, an almost as adorable Shih tzu (“I didn’t care what she said. I was not getting a dog.” [the next day] “I had a dog.”), an epic prank war, fabulous banter, and of course smoking hot chemistry. It all equals a perfect read to snuggle up with and escape on a winter evening.
Plus, it’s given me a new life goal: start a book club like Grandma Jen’s when I’m (cough) slightly older and looking for new and exciting ways to drive my children (grandchildren? Dare I hope?) batty. 😀

I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book.
Sooooooo funny! As always! And really I connected to this one because I like that her “frenemy”, Mason, was her FWB from college. I didn’t take a lot of notes as I was reading because this was such a page-turner I just sped through it! It’s a pretty light-hearted story, not a lot of major drama. The feels are real, but not deep. And that’s okay, I like to have a sweet and light and refreshing story to enjoy like this one. I loved that Immy knew how important it was to make sure Mason’s daughter was considered in all things, but I also loved that Mason, and everyone around Immy, told her that it was his decision to make, not hers. That felt so realistic to me. It was also such a unique relationship that Mason had with his daughter’s mother, or his baby-mama, as they say these days.
I look forward to a book about Immy’s cousin which we got a bit of a teaser at the end, as well as little quips here and there about her British neighbor. It might not be considered a series, but I love that they are connected.
