From author Erin Huss comes an “uproariously funny” (InD’Tale Magazine) new mystery…When Cambria Clyne—klutzy, twenty-something single mom—takes the job of an apartment manager at an LA complex, she hopes her run of bad luck is finally coming to an end. She’s got a nice home for her daughter, a steady source of income, and the cute maintenance guy is certainly a nice perk! But her luck takes a … luck takes a bad turn again when a dead body turns up, a crime spree takes over the community, and Cambria finds her complex squarely at the center of it all!
With her dream job suddenly on the line, Cambria dons her detective hat to get to the truth—after all, she’s watched enough crime shows on TV to know how to catch a perp! Or so she hopes as she wades through a streaker in apartment 40, an ex-con with a shady agenda, an overly frisky retired couple, and the suspiciously sneaky dealings of the dentist in apartment 36. But will Cambria be able to catch a killer… or will she get caught up in his game and lose it all?

This is a fantastic cozy mystery! Any chick lit lover will not mind the addition of a crime. So many laugh out loud moments that I kept reading late into the night! A great, funny book. And sort of scary, when you consider this book stemmed from the author’s true experiences as an apartment manager.
Highly recommend!
I love Cambria. She is a very lovable character who always tries to help other people even though she is constantly on the edge of being fired. And I especially admired how she dealt with Kevin, the apartment owner’s son, when I just wanted to kick his butt out the door.
There are quite a few shady people living in the apartment complex and some crazy requests and tenants to deal with….a whole lot of chuckle worthy moments.
I am looking forward to reading the next installment.

Book one in the Cambria Clyne Mysteries and what a great start it is too. Cambria is about as far down on her luck as a single mom can get when an opening for apartment manager seems like a gift from heaven. Little does she realize that she will be jumping into the deep end of a world full of murder, drugs, and absolute mayhem. Advertised as a funny romantic mystery it lives up to the adjectives with the possible exception of romance though not for lack of trying on Cambria’s part. Surprise twist at the end wraps it all up nicely and I look forward to seeing where the next installment takes these great new characters. Great for fans of light-hearted funny mysteries. I really enjoyed it so I give it 4/5 stars.
Cambria is a twenty-something single mom that is having a run of bad luck. She has lost her job and is a week away from being kicked out of her apartment. To make ends meet, she applies for the job of an apartment manager. What could be better? A roof over your head, a job that shouldn’t be too difficult, a nice paycheck, and a really cute maintenance man.
On day one of the job, her luck turns bad when a dead body is found. She then is faced with a crime spree in the apartment complex and finds herself in the middle of all this confusing mess.
Cambria loves watching crime shows, which is part of the humor in the book. She has a wild imagination and doesn’t always think before she acts. The rest of the cast of characters includes a dentist with something “shady” going on in his apartment, the apartment owner’s adult son that has a few screws loose, a very frisky retired couple, a maintenance man that can’t really fix things, and a tenant that loves to complain.
If you like cozy mysteries that have a lot of humor in it then this is a book you have to read.
French Vanilla & Felonies earns 5/5 Master Keys…Engaging Fun!
I am a fan of Erin Huss’s work, and although I’ve read books in her Cambria Clyne Mystery series, how did I miss book one!? Well, it was a delight to go back and see how things started. Cambria is an unemployed single mother who takes the job of manager of an L.A. apartment complex which includes a place for her and her daughter and a nice income, but it’s the dead body that makes her think her bad luck is back. Engaging fun! Along with a clever mystery with entertaining twist, turns, and perilous predicaments, Erin includes witty banter and descriptive language to paint the environment and illustrate personalities. It’s not always necessary to start a series from the beginning, but it does provide a complete experience and a better understand of character development. I love it!
Super crazy, fun read with an ending that is completely unpredictable! Even crazier is a cast of characters that are sure to entertain you until the last word. An opportunity for a young single mom turns into a series of fiascos that are not only entertaining but bring in even more ‘flawed’ players that just simply make this story so laugh out loud wonderful! No spoilers in this review, but this is a must read! Fun, witty, well written, just a comedy of questionable circumstances! Get this book!
The Huffington Post certainly got their review right, as this cute little cozy mystery by Erin Huss was definitely a hilarious and fun read. In fact, there were more than a few times when I was unable to read the book as I was laughing so hard. I enjoyed the dimwitted, but oh so smart, Cambria Clyne who was so out of her element and experience that she definitely was climbing uphill most of the time, as she attempted to sleuth out the solution to not only the murder, but also to what was happening at ALL of the apartments under her control. This is a voluntary review of an Advanced Reader Copy of this book from Hidden Gems Books.
Cambria finally lands a job and just might not live to regret it!

Truly zany antics and lots of crazy characters made this a really fun read. Cambria the heroine was a bit much, with unrepentant consumption of industrial quantities of ice cream, but her interactions with the apartment building tenants were priceless. The pace of the action was good, the murder mystery had plenty of twists and red herrings, and Chase, the hunky maintenance man, provided a bit of sexual tension. But it’s a clean tale, with a few randy or naked tenants popping out every so often, but nothing graphic and, as I recall, had no blue language either. Just screwball antics and a heroine who means well and has to make her new job as apartment manager a success to house and feed her three year old. Was it her fault that her first day on the job started with a tenant’s murder?!! Her boundless desire to run a tight ship (building) and constant conjecturing make for some very unhappy tenants.
In sum, well-written, funny, suspenseful and a joy to read.:-)
I read a complimentary advance copy of the book; this is my voluntary and honest review.
