I enjoyed this short story with great characters, romance and intrigue. She had gotten pregnant with twins her first and only time having sex when she was 18. She is now 28 and has never been on a date as an adult. She works too hard and never takes vacations. For her 28th birthday, her sister gives her a trip to Paris and will keep her daughters on her ranch in Texas. She reluctantly agrees and goes. She meets a sexy French man at the hotel, but runs away after talking to him for a few minutes. Several days later they meet again in a small cafe and he asks her out. She says yes and they have one great night together. This gave her the push she needed to finally accept a date with her neighbor who had been trying to get her to go out for ages.

French Kiss is hot and passionate but remind us that no matter how much as women we take care of others, we are at our best when we take care of ourselves.

A sweet novelette with a great message. It’s funny how a book title can be misconstrued. Thoroughly enjoyable.

Empowerment..
This story is supposed to teach a “lesson” about the empowerment of women. This is something Karen definitely needs. Overall, I felt like something was missing from the story.

– This book was a nice story of a woman learning to live again. She reads a book about being a woman and makes some changes to be more confident and in charge of her life. She has a vacation in Paris that helps her to change herself. She starts a relationship with a gentleman down the street and is learning to enjoy life more.
If anyone needs to find empowerment in her life, it is definitely Karen! When she was 18, she had an awkward first time experience with a boy and ended up pregnant with twins. As soon as she told the father-to-be, he scrambled to the military as quickly as he could and never came back. Now, with her 28th birthday looming, she is given the gift of a trip to Paris where she meets a man who inspires her to do something for herself, to take charge and be happy.
With that affirming lesson in mind, she returned home, determined to make a difference in her life that her daughters can respect as she manages things herself for the first time. Encouraged also to do the right thing and take a little bit of risk, she finally accepts a date with a neighbor who has been interested in her for some time now. Will this be her opportunity to find a loving partner? And if not, will she continue to put herself out there and try to make a life for her family without fear and weakness? Her children need to see her model her newfound strength and courage to live her life and not let others manage it for her. Can she do this now?
This was a good story and something especially important to address with a woman raising her children by herself. They look to her to see how they will be handling life choices as they grow up. Confidence is an important trait, raising self-esteem and opening up possibilities. Her Paris experience opened her eyes. Now it’s up to her to choose whether to take charge of her own destiny or let someone else make all her decisions for her. Grab your copy and see what kind of life she chooses for herself and her girls.
This is a short fast paced read. The book is great but not for me. I love the fact that Jillian wrote about a strong female lead and her journey in Paris. The female lead character was good.

Becoming a Woman on Top with all the opportunities that are offered to you
French Kiss is a lovely short story about a woman who learns how to have the life she wants. Karen is a twenty-seven years old accountant who is a single mother to ten year old twin girls, Sam and Karla. Karen’s one and only sexual experience happened in the back seat of her boyfriends car after their prom. Let’s just say it was not the best experience as there was no nakedness, it was quick and fumbling and she became pregnant. Once she told the father he joined the Army and was gone never to be heard from again it seems. Karen has devoted herself to making a life for her girls and has sacrificed her own life in the meantime. For her twenty-eight, in three weeks, her sister and girls gift her a trip to Paris for a couple of weeks. The girls will go to visit her sister in Texas and Karen gets to have a time out for herself. Lucky for her Karen’s reading group picked the book “Woman on Top” this month and she takes it with her to read. The book is about learning to take your own power, don’t hold yourself back and go after what you want in life. As the title of the book is also a bit risque it does garner some male attention that Karen is not used to.
While in Paris Karen meets Julien who is staying that the same hotel. He is in Paris on business for his family winery in Bordeaux. On their second meeting Julien asks Karen to dinner that night and she decides to accept. They have a wonderful dinner with great food and wine. But on the way back Karen’s shoes get stuck in the cobblestones of the road and she falls into wet grass and mud. When they get back to her hotel room she invites Julien in, gives him a class of wine and then goes to take a quick shower. Julien appears at the shower door and Karen soon opens herself up to him in more ways than one, learning what she has been missing all this time. The next morning his is gone leaving a lovely note.
When Karen returns from her Paris vacation she has learnt how to be a “Woman on Top” and decides that she needs to live her own life and not just live for her girls. After all she needs to teach them how to be the women that she hopes they will be in their own lives.
I really enjoyed this story and the journey that Karen took to becoming the woman that she was meant to be. Sometimes it takes a trip away from everyone to learn about yourself. Sometimes it takes a holiday French lover to really learn what you have been missing. Sometimes you just need to let people do nice things for you and just say Thank You. Sometimes you need to open yourself up to the possibilities in life to see what the opportunities are that are being offered to you. Karen learns these things and puts them into practice to start living the life she really wanted.
This story was a quick short read. Karen finally finds time for herself after her sister and daughters gift her a trip to Paris for her birthday. After reading her book club recommended read of “Woman on Top” she becomes empowered to change her life for the better.

This story was uplifting and fun to read. Jillian Riley wrote a story about women empowerment that still has romance.

This just didn’t do anything for me. I didn’t care for the characters, there was no romance, and it was just boring.

A quick read. It will make you want to go to Paris. A one night stand and one book was all it took for Karen to realize she needed to put her needs before everyone else if she wanted to live a fulfilling life. She had twin girls and felt like she gave everything to them and nothing was left over for herself or a dating life. When she returns home from Paris after her two week vacation, she decides it’s time to put herself first and she finally accepts a date with Ethan, the man who has been pursuing her. This book was short but Karen finds herself at the end.
I enjoyed this story of a single mom taking control of her life. The journey she takes is well worth it. I received an arc of this book and am voluntarily leaving a review.
This is a short romance. Karens first and only experience with sex left her with twin girls. Now 10 years later can she take charge and try again?
