He’s a trained killer, but she’s found his one weakness. The moment Jasper Walker hears Emily Jenkins’ sultry voice, it’s like a punch to the gut. An instant and heated reaction that winds its way through his heart and warms his skin. Then he hears the one word capable of breaking that electrifying connection: “son.”That one word rocks his world sideways, triggering his “hell no” reaction—for … “hell no” reaction—for reasons he keeps imprisoned in the darkest corner of his soul. A secret this highly trained, tier-one assassin conceals behind a reputation for blowing through women a week at a time—no matter how sweetly they beg for more.
After losing her husband on the battlefield, Emily was left to pick up the pieces of her broken heart while raising her son alone. She can see why women with a weakness for high-octane, Special Forces soldiers flock to men like Jasper. It’d be madness to let herself fall for him…but she can’t deny she’s tempted.
When their lives collide, Jasper discovers there’s more to this black-haired beauty than meets the eye. And he finds himself willing to risk everything—even battle against his darkest memories—to save Emily and her child.

This is the second book in the 707 Freedom Series. I do recommend you read Free first. I’m a sucker for a great special ops read. And both of these have been great. The characters are loveable and the men are alpha’s with a heart. Now, you don’t have to read Free first, but there is an arching storyline that does continue in this book.
After the first book, I really liked Jasper. After reading this, I absolutely love him.
I have to say, I love that Riley Edwards used the term “dependapotomus” in this story. It’s one of my favorite words. If you’re a military spouse, you know what it is. If you aren’t, it’s one of the lazy spouses, that wears her husbands rank, spends all his money, doesn’t take care of the kids, and does nothing at all.
Emily is such a strong, loving, and caring character. She’s a great mom to Jason. She’s been through a lot. Her life is good, until the past catches up to her.
She has a secret.
Jasper is a great guy. He’s lonely and full of guilt though. He was a man whore, but one look at Emily and he’s hooked, but she’s a mom. He holds back because of his guilt. And it’s major guilt.
He has his secrets, and his reasons.
Of course there is some drama. Things do get sorted. Part of it was still from Roman.
I’m loving this series and the characters. I can’t wait for the next book!
Freeing Jasper by Riley Edwards is the second book in her 707 Freedom series. I really enjoyed the story about Jasper and Emily. I’d give the story 4.8 stars and can’t read the next book in the series.
Emily Jenkins works at a bank when she comes face to face with a bank robber. Jasper was there and steps in but it exposes the 707 team as he calls two of them in for assistance. Since she’s now knows of the secretive black ops group she’ll recognize that Jasper doesn’t want to be around women with children. There’s back story that will bring to light her husband, the father of her son and drugs being funneled into the Army base. Will Jasper tell her his past and why he doesn’t do well around kids? How will the 707 rescue her son when he’s kidnapped?
Jasper Walker avoids getting involved with women who have children but when faced with a robbery he doesn’t hesitate to step in to save her. He tries to stay away but Emily is friends with Lenox and Lily so she’ll be hard to avoid. But the robbery didn’t feel right there’s something else going on so he’ll step in to watch over Emily and her son. There’s a exciting ending and I can’t wait to read more about the 707 Freedom Series.
Holy Heartbreak! Riley!! What did you do to me? I thought Free, book 1, was emotional but Freeing Jasper took the cake! It was amazing journey of facing your demons for those you love.
Jasper didn’t want a relationship; one night was usually enough until he met Emily. She made him want more but would her son be a dealbreaker?
Emily had her own issues she was trying to sort out. Her husband was killed in the line of duty, could she be able to handle Jasper being in the same position or would the pain of what could happen be too much?
Would Jasper be able to let go of his past demons in order to help Emily fight hers?
My heart broke over and over! Both Jasper and Emily had so much heartache from their past. It was touching to see them come together to help each other heal. Freeing Jasper was magic!
Freeing Jasper
Jasper’s story is the second in the 707 Freedom series and I’m kicking my own butt because I’ve seen Riley’s name around but held off reading her work but I’m fully immersed now and I’m not holding back
Jasper’s story is full of emotions. His past is so sad but when he meets Emily, he’s attracted to her but pulls back after finding out she has a child, but not for the reasons she’s thinking Suffice to say when he goes into the bank one afternoon and he sees Emily at the teller and in danger because of a bank heist…all bets are off and the kid gloves come off too
Loved this story and I’m looking forward to reading the next twoRead Freeing Jasper in the 707 boxset
Jasper and Emily may be destined to be together but the journey’s not an easy one. He is one hard driving, protective warrior with a past that haunts him. She too has secrets but they have to be revealed in order to keep her and her son safe. This is a love story first and foremost but it is also a story of forgiving oneself so you can move on with life.
Guilt and grief will certainly drive you to many points and Jasper was at his wits end and Emily was dealing with her own demons. When those demons come back to haunt her Jasper has to learn to deal and does he deal…Loved how this book made you feel all of the angst, sadness, chemistry and most of all the love.
Riley Edwards kicks the emotional heat up an additional notch in Freeing Jasper, the second book of the 707 series. From the series’ first book, Free, we learned Jasper had a painful, dark past and uses crass humor as a shield to hide his true feelings. Jasper is truly happy to see Lenox and Lily happily married, but the sight of their newborn son brings to light emotions Jasper long ago thought he’d buried. Jasper is a regular in the Lenox household and one night he meets Emily at a family dinner. He finds himself laughing and truly enjoying himself with her. He begins to question his decision to keep every female at arm’s’ length, believing that maybe, just maybe, Emily could be different. That is until she mentions having a son and Jasper reacts like he’s been slapped in the face. He cannot handle the thought of letting down another child and leaves suddenly, avoiding Emily at all costs for months. Lenox attempts to explain, but
Emily cuts him off thinking Jasper must just not like children. Little does she know how much he values children.
Months go by and a chance run in at the local bank cause the two to speak once again. When it becomes apparent that Emily is in danger, Jasper steps in to save her. Only once the immediate danger is gone, Jasper can’t help but feel a nagging in his gut that there’s something wrong and begins to watch over her and her son, Jason. Soon a man tries to harm Emily in her home and Jasper once again saves her. In order to keep her son safe, Emily has to reveal secrets about her past and that of her late husband, but at what cost? What will Jasper do once he knows the truth?
Jasper struggles to promise any sort of a future to Emily as his pain of the past is constantly plaguing him at every turn. As Jasper works to track down the man intent on harming her, he begins to fall for her – quickly pulling her and Jason into his daily life. Suddenly tragedy strikes and Jason is taken by a madman. Gone is the man Emily has come to love and before her stands Jasper, the cold-hearted, deadly trained black-ops soldier. Jasper promises on his life to bring Jason back safely to Emily. Once the danger is gone, will Jasper fight to keep them? Is Emily brave enough to make Jasper face his pain head on and overcome his past at the risk of losing him forever? Will facing his past allow him to be free to explore a true future with Emily & Jason?
I’m in love with this series! In this book we have Jasper’s story and it is full of action, drama, laughter and tears. We get all of our Sexy Brigade in this book too. I’m ready for the next book!
A little angst, a heroine who is smart and helps her man through it and the support of his friends = excellent second installment in the 707 series. Really liked this.
I don’t know where to start…. I loved Jasper and Emily’s story, but i absolutely adore Jasper!!
Jasper is such an amazing character, so beautifully written. As a member of a Special Ops team, that fly under the radar, the lengths he will go to protect those he cares about, even if it’s protecting them from himself, are incredible.
Emily is an amazing woman, with a huge capacity for love and understanding. She truly is worthy of Jasper, if only Jasper will let her in.
A great book written about the the men, who work in the dark, and the women that bring them the light.
This is the second book in The 707 Freedom Series. This series covers the men of a black ops unit that deploys at a moment’s notice with missions of utmost secrecy and the women that love them. Another smoking hot roller coaster ride that had me on the edge of my seat! I loved every minute of it.
I fell in love with Jasper in Free, and couldn’t wait for his book, and let me tell you this book didn’t disappoint. Jasper is an outrageous flirt and is known as a man-whore. The women that he is with know from the beginning that there are no promises of a relationship. Until he meets Emily. He has set his sights on Emily until he finds out she is a mom. He has his reasons for not wanting to get involved with her and he has a painful past that he holds tight to the vest.
Emily is a widow of a military officer and has a six-year-old son that is her life. Emily also has secrets that she keeps until her past comes back to haunt her and puts her and her son in danger. This puts Jasper in alpha protection mode and he must make decisions that will change his life and Emily’s. The secondary characters provide strong performances and are a great supporting cast!
I don’t want to get into the story as it needs to be experienced on its own. There are secrets, kidnapping, bank robberies, tears, sexual tension, push and pull between the characters as well as smoking hot love scenes between Emily and Jasper. My heart hurt for both Emily and Jasper as their pasts and truths were brought to light. This book had all the feels and I choked up a few times. I was happy it was told in the dual point of view voice, so I was able to get inside their heads! The writing was smooth without pause or drag. It flowed well from one crazy adventure to the next. I can’t wait to see what this author has in store for us next!
If you love military romance like I do, give this well written romantic suspense novel a read!
Genre: Romance – Suspense, Military

POV: Jasper and Emily
Steam Level: Quite Warm
4.5/5
I love Jasper. I loved him in Lily and Lennox’s book and I loved his book. Jasper is a sexy playboy with hurt lurking in his soul. A hurt we know about from reading Free but come to know and understand the depth of in his and Emily’s book. Emily is a widow and a single mom who puts her son first and doesn’t have time for Jasper’s fear of children. The push and pull between Emily and jasper and their feelings and fears is emotional, heart-breaking, and beautiful. I love the relationship between the guys and how they stand up for each other while also caring enough to call each other out on their crap. Overall Freeing Jasper is about love, loss, friendship, forgiveness and trust. Once I started it I didn’t want to put it down and cannot wait to read more of this series and these strong, sexy, and sweet men and the women who love them. This is an excellent series that will suck you in and take you on a wild ride.
