A fun family vacation turns into an apocalyptic nightmare when a couple and their young son find themselves trapped in the Irish countryside during an international crisis. With all contact outside the country gone, all electricity and all non horse-powered vehicles useless and desperate bands of outlaws roaming the Emerald Isle, the time has come for one soft American family to reach deep within … within for the reserve of brains and courage to survive.

Shows a different side of the people in Ireland when left to fend for themselves after an EMP strikes the country
I got this book thinking I wasn’t going to like it but that I was going to give it a try anyways and the story ended up catching me entirely to the point that I know wish to learn things that could help me live without the regular commodities that we usually have. This is book one of a series and I can’t wait to read the next.
This book made me aware of a possible future that frightens me.
This is a great book. Full of action and suspense. In addition the book follows a husband and wife and how they cope with a different culture and a world wide disaster. I liked how they developed new skills and how they kept their value system. It is unique look at a survival during the apocalypse. I can hardly wait until I read the next book. …

Really kept my interest, really enjoyed
I think it’s a book that teaches more of the use of brain and logic to overcome crises…
I really enjoyed this book. I have already requested the next book by this author.
Is an entertaining premise however, not certain how realistic it is as far culture/and human nature and ,the timeframe before anarchy rather than unity – in the absence of authority
something different, I enjoyed the read
Somewhat interesting but it didn’t really hold my interest. it was more depressing and I was looking for something more uplifting.
Loved it & the others that follow.
I thoroughly enjoyed the author ‘s related series (Stranded in Provence). I didn’t anticipate this series would be so disturbing and violent. When I realized one of the main characters dies, I decided not to read any further books in the series. I was extremely disappointed.
Very inmature
Did not like
After eight murders, I got tired of reading…..and it is a series. Don’t bother.
I never got this book
Terrific beginning for what promises to be a long, long story.
Good suspenseful read. Unexpected turns.
If I read it, it was excellent !!!!! I READ IT. JAK, jr.
