We were never meant to meet; our paths shouldn’t have crossed. And yet they did.As an undercover DEA agent, I always thought things through. I didn’t take chances, because I knew one misstep could have disastrous consequences.Until I met her.The little sister of my next target.Lola was a feisty young woman trying to claw her way out of a bad neighborhood. She was forbidden in every sense of the … was forbidden in every sense of the word, and not just because of the sixteen year age gap.
We were taught to expect the unexpected, but nothing could have prepared me for what was about to happen.
I fell hard.
I fell fast.I freefalled heart first.
But there was a secret I was keeping, and if revealed, it’d destroy the lives of those I’d vowed to protect.
One wrong move and everything could erupt in our faces.
All that remained was one question…
Was she worth it?
Free Fall is book one in the Fallen Duet. A two-part, angst-fuelled, gripping tale of forbidden love, complete with a jaw-dropping twist you’ll never see coming.

This book is definitely one of the best books I’ve read of 2019. This book sucked me in from the first page and I found myself reading it through the night because I had to find out what happened and then bamb! The ending omg! I loved Brody and Lola as a couple the chemistry was off the charts! And the ending left my heart broken and bleeding so I am now waiting for Book 2 to hopefully put it back together! This book gave me all the feels and the twist and turns keeping me intrigued all the way through but that ending I never saw coming ! I Definitely recommend this book ! Definite 5 star read ! I received an arc copy for my honest review
How the Hell am I suppose to process what I just finished reading. I mean really how is anyone suppose to process anything when their emotions are put thru the ringer? Now I’m sitting here trying to steady my racing heart so that I might be able to form coherent thoughts to express just how amazing this book was.
To start let me just list off why EVERYONE needs to read this book:
1. forbidden love
2. age-gap
3. angsty as FUCK
4. emotional roller coaster ride
5. did I say Angst level off the charts
6. soul grabbing characters
7. hot as hell scenes
8. book hangover worthy
9. heart racing story from start to finish
10. MOTHER FUCKING ANGST to the 10th degree
Before I dive into my review let me say that if you are a reader that hates a cliffy when you are having to wait for the next book to be released, then you may want to wait till the second book is released. I mean this book is the first ins a duet, so a cliffy is kind of expected. Now that that has been said let me get down to the review…
Lola’s is a girl that is trapped in a life that she is trying to claw her way out of. She’s only existing not really living. Your heart just can’t help but break for her. I know I couldn’t help but want her to break free and finally live a real life. And I wanted someone to come that would be there to help her fight and show her that there is more for her. Brody comes into Lola’s life in a time when she needs someone. The only thing is he’s hiding parts of himself from her. But, you can see that he does care for her and wants to protect her. The only thing you have to ask yourself is whether what he’s hiding is going to hurt Lola more that help her. Hut, mother fucking Hut, he that character that yes plays a big part in the life of both Lola and Brody. But, that doesn’t mean I can’t have the thought of wanting to take his knife and plant it right into his black heart. Yes there are moments that he might show signs that he has a soul, but then a switch is flipped and he’s back to Asshole #1. Abigail Davies just spun together the perfect characters that were able to touch all the spectrum of emotions when I was reading.
This was the first book by Abigail Davies for me, and now my TBR list has grown substantially longer. Free Fall, and I have a strong feeling that the last book in this duet, is definitely on my top fav list for this year. If there was a way to give a book higher than 5 stars this book earned each and every one of those stars. I can just hope that I will be put out of my misery and get my hands on the second book of this duet soon. Even though my doctor may not think that I need it with the way that my heart was racing just from reading this one. Abigail Davies you have made my list of must read authors.
Free Fall (Fallen Duet #1) is the first book I’ve read by Abigail Davies and I loved it! Brody and Lola are great characters, and that together with the well written, exciting storyline I was hooked from the start. I alternated between reading and listening to the audiobook and I must give credit to the narrators who did a fantastic job of bringing the characters to life. I can’t wait to start listening the concluding part. I highly recommend it!

Holy Wow!! If I could give this book 7+stars I definitely would!
I was lucky enough to get and ARC of this book, and let me tell you I will definitely be one clicking this baby when it comes out just so I can have it in my library.
This book grabs you from the very first page. You can help fall in love with Lola and her need to get out of her current situation, that thanks to her father she’s in.. along comes Brody the light in her darkness he’s the one good thing to com out of all the bad.. even though he’s part of her step brother “crew”.
Brody has a massive secret that could destroy Lola once she finds out (Don’t want to give too much away! )
The chemistry between Brody and Lola is magnetic from the first glance. But will all of Brody’s secrets kill there relationship before it really takes off..
Amazing Job with this book Abigail! Now to count down the days till book two!
7+ stars!!
Holy Cow!!!!! Such an intense and exciting story! Extremely edgy! And the ending….. OMG, i was shocked! Definitely didn’t see that coming!! WoW!!!
FIVE pink-blue stars for Lola and Brody !!!
This is the first book I’ve read by Abigail Davis and I was so impressed…
I mean…
I’m still impressed .
I’m so sad that she isn’t more popular because if anyone deserves to be a famous writer that is she .
I have to admit that the first thing why I choose to read and review “Free Fall”, it was the cover.
Yes, I fell in love with the cover (I always do ).
Everything is so perfect on this cover that it pulls you to read the book. A picture says thousands of words and with this, cover this is so true.
The second thing why I decided to read it’s the blurb. Blurb is interesting and after you read it, you just want to read the whole book.
So, now I have to say something about the book !
This is the hardest thing for me because I don’t want to spoiler the book and right now inside me, there are a thousand feelings.
That’s the reason why I waited to read the whole duet before writing a review.
Lola and Brody are two characters for who you know that their love won’t be possible till the end. You feel their happiness, you feel their sadness.
“Free Fall” in the end have a cliffhanger and it wasn’t a real surprise to me because I had the feeling that Cade isn’t in this book without any reason, but I loved it !
Between their love, in this book, you can find forbidden love, bullying, secrets and lies…
So, if your mind is open for these things (like age-gap, bullying…), then you will really enjoy reading this book and you won’t be able to stop reading until you read both books !
Highly recommended!!!
This author does it again. Her books always have you straddling something. Whether you agree with the characters and their decisions, moral and otherwise you can’t help but get caught up in the characters on the whole. You got a man playing a part under cover, for long periods of time? Yeah “murky waters” is one way to define it. But yeah everything about this book and the characters will have you reeling one way or the other, Ms Davies does it well. You will spin on the rush of it all and especially as things heat up and the cliff hanger is sprung. Yeah it is truly a two parter and yes there is a cliff hanger. Lola will send you into your own spin and while she is determined to make it on her own she goes through hell in every meaning of the word and is a strong well adjusted young lady for everything she has handled. It’s an emotional read and yeah there are some moral issues but well you’ll find out. Once again this author does the emotional play and has her twist and turns in the story that keep you riveted to the page and waiting for the other book in the series.
What a wild ride this was. We know some of the point in the story. Like the fact that Brody is undercover and o loved that aspect. There isn’t a lot of romance novels like that that I have found and the author rocked this one.
I loved Lola. Yes, she was young but she had a good head on her shoulders. The romance aspect was fun. The hero was 16 years older (yay, I love age gaps) and he was doing his job but sometimes you can’t help who you fall for.
I want to do more details on why I’m rating it 4 stars instead of 5 but I don’t want to spoil it. I will leave it as I found it a little predictable for me personally. Not to the author didn’t do a great job at writing the story, but for me, i didn’t find the ending all that shocking. I do look forward to diving into the second one and devouring it like I did this one. 4 stars #2OCCJD
Free Fall by Abigail Davies is the First book in the Fallen Duet. This starts the story of Lola and Brody and will continue in the next book Down Fall.
Lola is a 19 year old college student whose family is very violent, but she keeps trying to move forward. Brody is a undercover DEA agent who is on a case when Lola becomes some they are working to get information out of about her family. But Brody has even more secrets in his real life that could impact what is growing between the two. Brody tries to keep Lola as a job but she brings something out in him that he is finding that he can’t resist. But then we get the cliffhanger where we start to learn his real secret.
This book! Abigail Davies messed with every emotion and just when I thought she couldn’t do any more damage to my heart, I made it to the last page. I can’t even explain just how that ending messed with my mind, but here’s the thing – I kind of saw it coming, I hoped I was wrong, but I suspected. Then we get to the ending, and I’m shaking my head, sure that I can somehow change what’s going to happen, but it still does and I’m left thinking ‘Oh no, there has to be more, I need more!’ Now, that’s just the last few pages of this wonderfully written story. Just imagine what led up to this point. The whole thing kept me bouncing around from one emotion to the next. I’d be furious at a character one minute and feeling sorry for them the next, then in the blink of eye, I was mad again. Even the characters that I fell in love with made me want to shake them until their teeth rattled at times, even while I kept rooting for them. Free Fall is a story of a forbidden May/December love, but more than that, it’s the story of one young woman determined to make a better life for herself and the twisted route she takes trying to get there.
This book is just so good and I loved every second of it. The characters I adored so much and the story as a whole. This is just the first part of their story and now I can not wait until the next part to find out what happens.
At first her stepbrother was nice, but it had gotten worse, he wanted to control her like he did his crew, she had a plan to leave but just needed to get some more money from her job in the diner.
Brody saw what the files didn’t tell him, Hut’s stepsister was his one weakness and could be the answer they’ve been waiting for, for months. Seeing Hut hurt her, he knew he couldn’t step in, Lola was only a kid, nineteen but watching he knew she would give him up.
Lola knows that she should stay away from Brody, she was off limits to her brother’s crew, he was nearly twice her age, and she had to get out and getting involved with him she would stay. She didn’t want to leave herself open to heartbreak, she tried to fight it but the pull to him was too strong.
Brody can’t help the pull that Lola had, and he was struggling to deny it, he wanted his own bed, he knew he was in trouble, but how would he get out of it. The lines were blurring, and he needed to remember that Lola was a task, but it didn’t help the images in his mind. He needed to do his job and get out and not see her again but could he.
They take a leap with each other into the unknown, but when everything comes out your left with a WTF ending needing the next book.

Free Fall by Abigail Davies is a very quick read that grabs you at page one and doesn’t let go until the end. Be warned though, this book ends in a cliffhanger.
Brody is an undercover DEA agent put there to take down Hut, a sloppy drug dealer, that the DEA is unable to arrest due to lack of evidence. Hut has a younger step-sister, Lola, that Brody thinks may be his way in with the crew.
Lola is working as many hours as possible so she can get her own place and not be living with her drug dealing, sociopathic brother, who, for some reason, believes that she belongs to him and won’t let any mandate her.
Brody’s team feels that Lola is his way to bring Hut down. The more he gets to know her, the more feelings he has for her and he doesn’t want to hurt her that way.
This book grabbed me and I had to know what happened!
It is written in dual POV and just like many other books it bounces back and forth between chapters.
I loved how well Abigail wrote each character, she showed their thoughts and feelings very well without it becoming messy. I also both loved and hated that there was a massive plot twist towards the end of the book.
I can’t wait to read the other half of Brody and Lola’s story.
5 Cranky stars
Lola is 19 and lives with her step-brother, Emerson in their family home. Lola and her father moved in 7 years ago but very soon her father and step-mother started using drugs and disappearing for days/weeks at a time. Emerson was like a big brother to her caring and looking after her, As the years went by Emerson started dealing in drugs and using, that is when he became ‘Hut’. He soon became a big time dealer who the police couldn’t seem to catch. What came with his success was loud all night parties and always people or Hut’s crew at the house. All Lola wanted to do was get out, but Hut thought of her as his property. She had carried on with her education and worked very hard at a diner to try and save money to get away. She came home one day from work to find Hut had a new member to his crew, Brody, she couldn’t keep her eyes off this stunning man.
From here the story takes a very exciting turn, no more can be said without giving spoilers away.
This book was so easy to read and very enjoyable, the different emotions were dealt with superbly.
I can’t wait to start the second book.
I received an ARC copy of this book for an honest review.
If I could give it more than 5 I would as this book definitely deserves it
OMG Abigail Davies this is one amazing book, that at the end I was saying please don’t end please don’t end, but guess what it did
This book is really well written and the characters are absolutely outstanding, and not just the main character’s Lola and Brody but also the rest of the characters and how they all fit into the lives of Lola and Brody.
This book has everything, romance, betrayal, drugs, violence, so a little bit of everything that I love.
Abigail Davies you have left me breathless and on my knees begging for book two.
This book is definitely a book on my recommendation list
Another great story from Abigail Davies that will have you on the edge of your seat. A Forbidden love you champion for from the beginning. Then the secrets get revealed and your life comes crashing down. You shout at the book, you shout at the author, you send messages to the author in the middle of the night asking her ‘how could you?’
This shows that you become invested in the story from the word go. It’s so captivating that you want to go along for the ride.
I can’t wait for book two to be released. I hope I don’t have to shout at her again.
From the very first page to the very last page I just couldn’t put it down as I didn’t want to miss a thing. Everything about this book will have you gripped and will leave you with so much emotion bubbling up in you that you won’t know which way is up. Brilliant storyline and absolutely brilliant characters and a cliffhanger you didn’t expect and you have an easy 5 star read.. I was seriously left in a book funk and in desperate need for book 2 saw I need to know if Lola and Brody make it… I highly recommend this book.
Well, Free Fall by Abigail Davies was a real surprise, in a very good way. I want to start off my review slightly differently by saying that, for me, although the cover is a pretty good representation of the main characters, it’s a wolf in sheep’s clothing when it comes to giving the reader any clue about the raw and gritty story inside. I love a dark romantic suspense and whilst this is not the darkest book I’ve read, it certainly has dark and violent elements to it. It is a first read for me by this author, and I enjoyed it very much.
There’s plenty of angst here, in the true sense of the word. Although we don’t get a great deal of insight into Lola’s past history, my heart went out to her for the situation she now finds herself in. She’s a real survivor and her strength and resilience blew me away. There are some unpredictable, volatile characters in this book and my trepidation and sense of foreboding increased with every turn of the page. Her saving grace comes in the form of Brody, who unbeknownst to her, is an undercover DEA agent and a real enigma. Their attraction is perilous and forbidden in more ways than one and by acknowledging their feelings and succumbing to that attraction, they’re playing a dangerous game. I can’t wait to see where this all ends.
There are several twists and turns along the way, which kept me guessing, and although I did predict one bombshell a while before it was dropped, this did not affect my enjoyment of the story. If you like a dark, unconventional, age gap, romance, I would highly recommend this book. If you don’t like a cliffy, I would still urge you to take a chance on this story, you may just wish to wait a couple of weeks until book 2 of the duet is published. I’ll be waiting for it when it is.
Gah! Give me book two right now!!
An absolutely brilliant book that kept me gripped throughout.
We follow Lola, the step sister of a drug dealer who is looking for a better life and a way out as well as Brody who is a member of the gang who takes a shine to Lola, but all is not what it seems.
Full of angst, suspense and drama, i enjoyed it from start to finish and cannot wait to pick up where book one finishes and see what happens.
I am eagerly awaiting the second book
A must read for sure.
