The story of Victor Frankenstein’s monstrous creation and the havoc it caused has enthralled generations of readers and inspired countless writers of horror and suspense. With the author’s own 1831 introduction.
Much more than the “scary monster” story. A creature of man who wants to be human, but forced to live as a wild thing because he doesn’t fit conventional knowledge. Who was Mary Shelly seeing in the creation of the scientist?

This is not the movie. It is not really any depiction ever seen in pop culture. It is a thought-provoking book asking serious questions spanning religion, love, parenthood and scientific ethics. Shelley’s narrative just draws the reader in for the journey.

Forget all the movies, books, etc. that have come from this wonderful short tale. This is one of the most thought provoking tales in our literature. Completely amazing that it came from the pen of such a young writer, and was composed almost overnight.

Have read this book more than once and enjoy it every time. There is also a movie with Robert De Niro based on this book which is wonderful as well. Not usually into sci-fi or fantastic stories, but this is one of a kind.

It wasn’t what I was expecting, but most of the classics aren’t. It’s interesting to compare the original work to the current-day interpretation. A must read.

This will surprise any fan of subsequent FRANKENSTEIN literature and films. It is an entirely different mythology than the pop culture one, replete with a staggering originality and genius. Did you know the tale begins in a feverish pursuit in the Arctic? Read it. You owe it to yourself.

Interesting to go back and read after everyone already knows the story. It was still very entertaining
