OUR FRIENDS WITH BENEFITS ARRANGEMENT IS PERFECT… UNTIL IT ISN’T.JaxI don’t date. Period. My life is all about those random one-time hook-ups–no expectations, no feelings, no commitment.Until I meet Lexi. One night with her just isn’t enough. And the only way I can keep her is by offering the only thing I can: my body without my heart. But she gets too close. All I want is to love her, but I … she gets too close. All I want is to love her, but I can’t. I’ve got wounds too deep to heal, and walls around my heart too thick to tear down.
The only way I can save her from the demons of my past is to let her go, even if it destroys me.
Lexi
After I caught my cheating fiancé in the act, I swore off men permanently.
Then I met Jax–he’s funny, flirty and gorgeous.
Best of all? He only wants to be friends…with benefits.
I can handle a temporary, no-strings-attached fling, right? I like a good time as much as anyone, and Jax’s chiseled abs set my body on fire.
Problem is, my heart didn’t get the message.
The more I get to know the former Delta Force soldier, the more I suspect this casual arrangement is his attempt to keep his heart closed off forever.
How can I convince him to drop his defenses, and let me in?
“Jax and Lexi are everything! They love so hard and their chemistry incinerates the pages – their story is an emotional one that will rip your heart out.”— Amazon Review
Fragile Lies is the 2nd book in the Fragile Hearts series and part I of Jax and Lexi’s duet. It contains a cliffhanger and must be read with Fragile Truths. Both books can be read as a standalone romance, but you first meet the couple in Fragile Scars.

this is the second book in the series and it tells Jax and Lexis story who we met in the first book.
This is an emotional and heart breaking story that will pull at your heart strings. Jax suffers from PTSD and Lexi has Self Esteem issues. The author brings these emotions across brilliantly.
Fragile Lies is the second book in the Fragile Hearts Series. The first book in the series, Fragile Scars can be read as a standalone. This is Jax and Lexi’s story, the first part and continues in the next book, Fragile Thruth which is expected to be published on August 13th. This part ended in a cliffhanger.
This story is so steamy that could burn your kindle. The chemistry between Jax and Lexi is off charts.
It’s emotional and beautiful told with a great expressions that help to fall in love with the characters as well as the plot.
Book Recommended!
ARC generously provided by the author in exchange for an honest review.
4-1/2 Stars!!
I’m starting to love not reading blurbs because I love having no expectations. I love the military aspect of this book, the characters, & the story itself. This book was HOT as fuck.
I wanted to throat punch Jax at the end but PTSD is no joke & no really knows what someone is going through. His family was right to try & get him to get help.
I don’t blame Lexi for her distrust of men & relationships. If there should have been a voodoo doll it should have been for Aiden. Gah I disliked him.
I can’t wait to see what happens next for Jax & Lexie especially after that cliffhanger ending! I’m rooting for Jax!
I received an arc of this book in return for an honest review.
We have this one and let me say this is steamy, dreamy, and with the right amount of troubles, actually I can’t wait to read the next one as this one left me hanging in a thread, from the beginning you are a part of the story and we get to see and know more about them, and all that adds more to their relationship and is nice to see how everything evolve, hands down one of my favorites and can’t wait to the nest one.
This book is just incredible and it completely wrecked me!!
Lilian Harris brings a story that is so deep and emotional, full of angst and drama but also fill with so many fun and sexy moments, that once I started reading I couldn’t put the book down.
The main characters of the story are Lexi and Jax. Two people carrying their own insecurities about love and relationships. In a way they both have suffer from heartbreak in very different ways and they are unable to move own. The attraction and instant connection they have to one another is fantastic, their sexual chemistry is of the charts hot but still “commitment” is the one thing they refuse to have.
This book is part one of Lexi and Jax’s story, so it does end on a cliffhanger but oh boy that ending almost gave me a hearth attack. I can’t wait to see what happens next and if they are going to be able to heal from the wounds of their past.
I need a minute…
I felt for Damien, man did I, but Jax? Killed me! He’s struggling so hard with his demons and still, he thinks to put others first. He’s convinced his trauma will drag anyone who gets close down with him.
Lexi is convinced she’s damaged goods and not worthy of happiness, but she’s learning with Jax’s help. These two had such a beautiful beginning and I can’t wait for them to accept what they can be!
4.5 “SOLDIER BOY” STARS!!!
“Lies are necessary when the truth is too difficult to endure.”
Since Fragile Scars I have been so curious to know more about Jax, the player and Lexi, the amazing friend. I’m not gonna lie I had a lot of expectations from their few interactions and I was not disappointed at all. This book actually turned out to be so much more then what I could have ever imagined.
“She’s beauty, where I’m savagery. She’s life, where I’m death. She’s love, where I’m misery.”
Lexi is such a beautiful heroine. She deals with low self-steam since her ex-fiance cheated on her but she never let that harden her. She was an amazing friend and daughter. She was sassy, funny and loyal. I loved her!!!
“I want to save her, I want to be her life vest.”
Jax really surprised me. I though he was going to be this huge player and he was. But he was also so much more than that for the right woman. He said the sweetest things, he was so funny and easy going, he also had the dirtiest mind and it was hot! He had so many amazing qualities and scenes in the book but what I loved more about him was how he always hyped her up and boosted her confidence. I lost count how many times he said she was gorgeous and the thing was, he said with such certainty and admiration that no one could doubt him. Now, he is not perfect. He deals with PTSD and that influenced a lot of his actions. He sometimes frustrated me a lot but once you know what he went through you just feel for him.
“I want you to see your beauty through my eyes.”
I loved their relationship development so much! I loved that they started as friends and that was always such a big part of them us a couple. They were compatible in the bedroom and outside of it too. The whole friends with benefits deal was a recipe for disaster and I was so here for the angst. And oh boy, it was really angsty. That ending alone?! Yeah, I’m definitely jumping straight into the next one.
“As long as my darkness still lives inside, there’s no room for a future, not for me.”
Fragile Lies is the second book in the Fragile Hearts Series and is a standalone. The story is about Lexi and Jax, whom we met in Fragile Scars.
This book ends on a cliffhanger! Usually, I try to avoid them, but I started this anyway because the next book is already available.
Jax has PTSD and is constantly wearing a mask to hide the pain and heartbreak he is carrying with him. He is a confidant, sweet gentleman, and definitely book boyfriend material.
Sweet Lexi has low self-esteem issues, she is hurt and wants to avoid relationships, but in the end, she just wants to be loved.
Jax and Lexi have so much chemistry, it radiates from the pages.
This story takes you on an emotional rollercoaster, you get sucked into the story and feel all their emotions.
Lexi and Jax’s story is super steamy, their sexual connection is off the charts.
Another great read from Lilian Harris. If you love steamy stories that pull your heartstrings and make you laugh, and you don’t mind cliffhangers, this story is one you can’t miss out on.
I received a copy from this book and am leaving this honest review voluntarily.
Jax has deep scars from his time in the service and ok this book we discover how deep they actually go. Lexi was wounded deeply by her ex fiancé when she walked in on his cheating on her a month before the wedding. All Jax believes he can give is sex, so they agree to a friends with benefits arrangement, but this arrangement won’t go the way either expected.
Overall this was a really great book. There was a lot of sexy time in this book, which makes sense considering the friends with benefits arrangement. It did seem to take away from the story a bit and I admit to skipping some of them. But that was just a personal preference of mine and not at all a reflection of the author. I am also usually not a fan of duets, but as I got to the end of this book (and stared book 3 already) there really was so much of Jax and Lexi’s story left to tell that they absolutely needed both book. I am just glad that the next one is already out so I didn’t have to sit on the edge of the cliff . I really liked this book and can’t wait to see how their story ends.
This is the second book in the series and I was so happy to receive it! I loved the first book, it was full of suspense and romance, all things I love. So when the second one came out I needed to be all over it!
I absolutely loved Lexi and Jax! Lexi this girl broke my heart right away. For everything that happened to her and how she viewed herself just crushed me. I hate seeing women do that to themselves. But then enters Jax and I was all for it!
Now Jax has me worried at first. But he turned into someone I wasn’t expecting…..til the end. He made me mad at the end. But the chemistry between these two was hot hot HOT! Like holy hell hot. Which was why he made me so mad. I was hoping for a great outcome but maybe I still will get it with part 2.
Yes that means this end on a cliffy people! Hehe but it is definitely worth it!
5⃣
recommendation
A well written story that pulls at your emotions throughout the entire story. The characters are well defined and exceedingly captivating. I loved the drama and angst. I felt their connection was real and believable. They had amazing chemistry and I couldn’t stop rooting for them.
I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
The very opening chapter of this book had my blood pressure rushing in my ears, nerves in my body were trembling and flash backs hitting me of my own experiences.
We first meet Lexi, our MC when she’s reminiscing about her upcoming wedding to Aiden. He’s been really busy lately and she’s missing him. She decides to surprise him late at night at his work only to catch him in the act with another woman that he works with. Cue the stressful emotions – like WHAT?!
After a long recovery and shielding of her heart (and rightly so), Lexi has found balance in her life again. It hasn’t been easy and her experience has left her a bit damaged in the arena of self confidence or of trusting people. That is until Jax shows up. He’s everything she could want, and more. So she has to cut off her heart from feeling things for him. They flirt and have fun, but that’s absolutely all this can be.
Jax is a war veteran with a lot of demons and he won’t ever settle down with one girl. One night stands are his forte – until he meets Lexi. He refuses to let his nightmares and fears of losing those he loves be something that hurts Lexi. So he won’t let her in, not all the way at least. But he just can’;t seem to stay away from the pull she has on him either.
Bother of our main characters have demons to wrestle with and as they explore a friend’s with benefits arrangement, all of those demons are brought into the fore front. We get to enjoy their constant sexual attraction, the cute and funny humor and the way they both love to pick on each other in an endearing kind of way.
This was a story that lured me in initially with its sexy and flirty scenes, but pulled me in with its raw emotion. You can feel the deep emotion between the characters as you turn each page and you’ll be taken down with their demons as well.
Lots of triggers to warn about with this one including affairs, intense sexual imagery and domestic abuse.
A highly recommend read for those of you that love a sexy romance with lots of emotional draw in the relationship!
Lexi is engaged to Aiden and is only a few weeks from the wedding, when she catches him cheating. She walks away with her shattered heart and trust. Lexi goes out with her bff Lilah to a bar, so Lilah can drink her pain away, because of her abusive boyfriend. While at the bar, three men notice them. One of them instantly takes a liking to Lilah, she gets mad. Lexi goes over to talk to them and apologize for her friend and explain that she is just upset. Jax is one of said men, total playboy. instantly takes a liking to Lexi and starts flirting. Lexi still has trust issues but Jax is relentless in his pursuit. When Lilah ends up in the hospital and Jax is there to comfort Lexi and they both finally give in to their mutual lust. Now they are in a tug of war. Can’t wait for the second part of their story!
Jax and Lexi are the best friends of Damian and Lilah who we meet in book one, Fragile Scars. We get a little insight in that book about a little something, something going on between the two, and Fragile Lies dives deeper into what they are to each other and more about who they are and their struggles. They are so natural in their conversations together, and deep down they both have feelings for each other and can’t seem to stay away. Jax presents her with the offer of being friends with benefits, no strings attached, and she agrees, while trying to keep her feelings for him at bay. Jax is a playboy and is dealing with some serious PTSD and has closed himself off to finding love… Lexi was burned in the past by an ex-fiance and swore she would never allow another man to break her heart, but when her feelings for Jax grow, he does just that…
Holy freaking cliffhanger! I need the next book ASAP!!! I NEED to know what happens next… This book is angsty and oh so steamy! I love Jax and Lexi and Harris’s writing! It was great to see the characters from the first book in this one, and to learn more about Jax and Lexi and what they’ve had to go through and how their feelings for each other are growing.
Fragile Lies will be released on July 13th, so keep an eye out!
Fragile Scars is available on KU until July 12th!
*Thank you Lilian Harris for providing me with an arc copy in exchange for honest review!
That ending!!
Second book for Lilian! You can tell she is growing as an author!
Just like Fragile Scars this book takes you on an emotional journey.
Once again while reading this, I began to look at myself and those around me. What pain are people hiding? What am I missing in other’s?
I have really enjoyed the complex nature of Lilians characters!!!
This is the 2nd book I’ve read written by Lillian Harris; she has done a great job at writing a good book; I can’t wait to read more of her books.
The story line caught my attention at the very beginning and kept me interested throughout the entire book.
I loved the characters.
I received a free copy of this book via booksprout and I’m voluntarily leaving a review.
Fragile Lies by Lilian Harris is a contemporary romance. This is the second book in the Fragile Hearts Series. Each book can be read as a stand-alone romance, but you meet Jax and Lexi in the first book.
This is the second book of Lilian’s that that I have read and it definitely won’t be my last. This book took me on an emotional roller coaster. Lilian did an amazing job making you feel all the emotions that Lexi and Jax were feeling. The story does end on a cliffhanger but that wasn’t a surprise said Lilian advised that in the description of the book. I cannot wait for Fragile Truths to be released on August 13, 2020 so I can get more of Jax and Lexi’s story.
I would highly recommend this book if you love contemporary romances.
This is another emotional read. Book one had triggers and book two will have even more. This can be read as a stand-alone but there are some shared characters. After catching her fiancée cheating, Lexi’s confidence took a hit. She has a lot of self doubt and is a little skittish about starting something new. Jax is the fun playboy. At least that what he lets people think. No love, no commitment. He has some deep issues. When they meet, they go from text buddies to friends with benefits with a fake engagement thrown it. It’s all fun and games until someone catches feelings. Lexi and Jax both pull you in and you want to know all their secrets. You root for a HEA but you will have to wait. Jax and Lexi’s journey left us hanging
I was generously given an ARC in exchange for an honest review!
h: Lexi
H: Jax
(Dual POVs)
Jax only does one night stands, as he suffers from PTSD and doesn’t want to put his demons on anyone else. Lexi caught her fiancé cheating on her, which leaves her with some serious self esteem issues.
I absolutely loved this book! The book packs a serious punch with all the feels. From the very first page, you’re sucked into the heartache and emotions these characters are going through. Jax, ugh! I love it when the H has a flirtatious, playful charisma. I love how confident and commanding he was He was also sweet, thoughtful and a gentleman. He truly doesn’t understand just how great he is! I’m definitely adding him to my list of book boyfriends!
I enjoyed how the secondary characters interacted with the main characters, in regards to their relationship. I loved the family dynamics that both Jax and Lexi’s families had.
I need the second book! Like now! P.S.- I looked at the next book in the series, to confirm when it was releasing. I read the blurb. That has a trigger warning. And I’m sooo not ready for the heartache
Favorite Quotes:
The sun only feels good until it burns.
He picks up my hand with his other and places it against the crook of his neck, his pulse racing under my touch. “Don’t worry,” he whispers, “you make me nervous too.”
“I won’t give you up. Not again.”
“But you won’t keep me either.”
I absolutely loved this book! This first part of Lexi and Jax’s story was so good. It’s intense, definitely intense, and I loved every minute of it. You can really feel the emotion coming from these characters, with the issues each has to try to manage. Among all that, chemistry was amazing! I highly recommend it. I’ll be over here waiting (im)patiently for the second part of their story.
