Everything comes with a price. Kolya Boykov isn’t afraid to die—he’s already been dead for a long time. All it takes is one look at her from across the bar, and Kolya comes to life again. She’s fragile and beautiful and caged. Taking her was the last thing he should have done, but he’s never wanted anything like he wants Maya. As the son of a Bratva boss, no one can stop him from having her. Maya … stop him from having her.
Maya Kozlov wishes she was invisible—mistreated and unloved, they never let her forget it.
All it takes is a few words from him, and Maya’s life is turned upside down all over again. He’s cold and harsh and terrifying. She should have run the first chance she could, but that’s the thing about Kolya; he makes her want to stay. As the unwanted daughter of a dead man, she just wants to be happy.
There’s only one problem. It’s more than just Kolya who wants to keep Maya forever. Family, legacy, and the mafia … nothing will stand in their way.
The cost of this betrayal is high.
What will be the price?

Returning to Chicago with the Boykov’s has been a long time coming. I was so excited to find out that Kolya was finally getting his book. Bethany-Kris didn’t disappoint with Kolya and his love interest Maya. Their chemistry and connection made for one interesting journey. Seeing inside the mind of a man who always came across as stone cold with no feelings is surprising. The walls he let down for Maya made us see the man he truly is and how much love he is capable of. This is a great read and I look forward to more from the Boykovs.
Kolya is the second eldest son and soon to follow in his father’s footsteps, he never expected the job he went on that a little pixie-like bartender was capture his attention and that at the end of the night he would take her home with him.
As always, his father knows everything including about Maya and lets him know that the Albanian that left was there for his slave, Maya. Kolya won’t let Maya go and his father reminds him he had the chance.
Maya did what no one else did and pushed Kolya, there was something between them and he wasn’t cold hearted with her and something about him made her know he would never hurt her.
Kolya had never wanted anything in his life as much as he wanted Maya, and nothing not even his father even if created a war, nothing was going to stop him having Maya now he’d had a taste he was going to keep her. His father always said never go to war over a woman, but Maya was his and he didn’t care if he created a war even with his father.
Loved every single moment of this mafia romance. The ways of family is different in the Bratva, especially the Boykov Bratva. The dynamics were crazy. The scenes were action packed. I couldn’t turn the damn page fast enough. I need more Maya and Kolya. They are just like mafia couple goals. Hell… Kolya was mafia book boyfriend goals. I would love bonus material or a novella. Again, I can’t get enough.
Kolya, the potential future mob boss hero here, was quite the ruthless cold hearted killer, folks. In fact, he was well known to enjoy his job as enforcer/finisher a little too much. Who would have ever thought one quick glance at leading lady Maya and he’d be done for. Yeah, that surprising spark fanned out into an unquenchable, all consuming flame lighting up his dark, lonely existence.
Some may feel there is a Stockholm syndrome undertone considering the circumstances these two lovebirds unite and pair off. Either way, she wasn’t overly resisting/resentful, and this bad boy definitely became her good guy, hero protector. He proved he’d always do whatever it took to keep her safe.
I certainly cannot wait to see his mobster siblings get their own HEAs in future sequels. Viktoria is up next, and I’m hoping the slightly younger bro isn’t far behind. The ties that bind this mafia family together are sure to rope me in with each new release.

(I read and reviewed an ARC version of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own. I was not given any payment or compensation for this review, nor is there any affiliation or relationship between this reviewer and the author/publisher/PR firm.)
This was another outstanding book by Bethany-Kris. I love the Russian Bratva men and this book did not disappoint at all. I started reading and I promise you, I could not put it down. It was definitely a page-turner. Kolya and Konstantin are brothers and their vicious father is the Pakhan who had me cringing at times. He is heinous even to his own sons especially to Kolya his oldest and next in line to be Pakhan. Then Kolya rescues the beautiful “sprite” Maya and it is non-stop from then on, everything you could want in a book, danger, heinous murders, romance, hot, steamy, sex, and love. Read this today!!! Terrific and unexpected ending!
*4.5 stars*
Throw in a cute puppy and this dark romance had it all…
Bethany-Kris writes dark mafia and Kolya and Maya’s story was a stellar example. Violence and evil was intertwined with blossoming love as their unexpected connection took them to unknown places. Maya’s life had always been precarious, her days measured by the mood and whim of her father and brother. She was beautiful but staying in the background was healthier. more than that captured Kolya’s attention. He was struggling with his own family problems and didn’t need any more. Too bad his heart and body said differently…
Brutality and violence battled love and loyalty as this story played out. There were some light-hearted moments, Kolya had an unexpected funny side that peaked out occasionally. The sizzle between them caused more than one distraction as well. At the heart of it was love, loyalty and family, no matter how it was sliced, and all of it was reading heaven…

I always go into Bethany-Kris’s books knowing full well I’m going to fall in live with the characters, the story line, and her writing skills. Fractured ties is by far my favorite madia romance written by her… and I happen to love all the ones I’ve read. Kolya and Maya are so perfect for each other its beautiful. Kolya is an animal! He kills without mercy or thought. Torture is his favorite hobby and Maya wouldn’t have him any other way! A mafia romance with an ending I wasnt expecting! No seriously I was no expecting this ending. Yes its ends in a HEA of you’re wondering.
5 golden stars to my favorite mafia romance author!!!
I recieved an ARC in exchange for a honest review
Kolya has always known he would take over the Bratva after his father. He learned hard cruel lessons from his father. He is cold and calculating when it comes to business. Maya is just a bargaining chip for her family. She’s never been shown any love by them. When she finds out she is to marry Kolya, she figures it can’t be worse than her life with her family. The sparks fly between them much to their surprise and Kolya begins to see Maya as more than an accessory to his life.
“He was harsh. His stance. His aura. Him. He was cold, and firm, and unmoved. And yet, his touch was soft, and sweet, and warm.”
Dangerous
dark
ruthless
Fractured Ties is top shelf mafia romance, so well written, enthralling, intense, and so hot, this is the best mafia book I’ve ever read.
Cold, strong, ruthless hero until the end of the book, I love when the hero remain strong and evil through out the book.
Kolya Boykov is a heartless, cruel vor, the oldest son of Vadim Boykov, and next in line to become the leader of the Russian mafia.
Kolya is force to follow his father’s steps and learn his lessons the hard way.
Kill, drink, repeat.
His lonely life is control by his father the only time he enjoys life is when he is killing, that’s the only time he feels any pleasure until he meets abandoned and mistreat Maya Kozlov, all her life she was abused by the people who were suppose to care for her, when her abusive father is killed Maya thinks she is finally free, but her father owe dangerous men and one of them was Kolya’s father, because he is a vor and Maya change his world the moment he set eyes on her, Kolya will take Maya with him. Maya is intrigued by Kolya, his mood changes and the way he protects her since the first day they met , Kolya is cold and angry to everyone but her, with Maya he is soft and sweet, is like a new Kolya was born the moment they met.
Maya wants Kolya to keep her and he wants to keep her too, but Maya’s father not only owe the Boykovs, there were more men who were promise Maya as a payment and they want her no matter what, the only problem is Kolya will not let anyone take her away from him not even his father not matter the consequences Maya will only be his.
Fractured Ties by Bethany-Kris is one action-packed standalone that will leave you wanting for more. Kolya Boykov is the kind of bad guy that you’ll grow to love. It was one intense insta-love when he met Maya and the contrast between the way he treats her versus the world just made me instantly swoon.
This book was intense and gruesome but romantic and passionate at the same time. I liked how Bethany-Kris portrayed a darker side of the Bratva with this one. The story had a complex plot with numerous twists and turns that will definitely leave you wanting for more.
I especially adored the part where Kolya was torn with his inner struggle as he is coming into terms with his feelings for Maya. Another great character that I loved in Fractured Ties is Kolya’s brother, Konstantin. I loved his loyalty and his comedic affable self. The brothers have great banter with each other and both characters complement each other well.
I can’t wait for the next installment of the book from the Seasons of Betrayal universe. It will definitely be another fun and exhilarating read!
Fractured Ties by Bethany Kris is one for the books. It soothed my ever hungry mafia slut-hood.
The book starts with the crossing of paths between Kolya and Maya. An explosive encounter that led to well, very explosive things.
I don’t know why I expected Maya to be some fragile little thing. But, she’s most definitely not. There’s this consensus that a damsel in distress is a fragile woman who’s waiting for someone to save her. For me, I’ve always just interpreted it literally: a damsel in distress and not a woman who can’t speak or do for herself. Bethany’s works always embodies my sentiments beautifully, and Maya was no exception.
Kolya, where do I start with him? There’s definitely something about a broody blood thirsty Russian who turns to a masked marshmallow meeting his dushka.
If there’s something we organized crime romance sluts love about our bratva/outfit book boyfriends, it’s how they would go to war for the ‘good thing he’s found’. Dear maverick Kolya was no exception to this.
I very much love characters outside of the leads being highlighted, so I enjoyed reading about other who we will when soon see more of. I can’t wait to dive into the rest of the standalones in this series.
In all, I stayed awake reading this book, because Bethany Kris always delivers a page turner. And you will too.
Bethany-Kris made me cry. There I said it.
Fractured Ties is just wow! Kolya Boykov is (bites knuckles) is wow. I know that sounds lame but damn. I’m still trying to get my bearings. I am energized, intrigued, and like a puppy waiting for treats- eager for more.
Fractured Ties is good old fashioned catnip for me. I am a mafia whore. The more the better. I am an even bigger accent ho. I hear (or read) a sexy accent and I am liquid. No foreplay necessary (slight exaggeration, but only slight). So give me Russian Bratva and I can’t even try to prevent my eyes from rolling back in my head. But then Bethany-Kris gave me Kolya Boykov (swoony sigh) and now I am at a crossroads, do I give up on my Italians or do I try to make my Mafia fetish work with an international plan!?!
Fractured Ties is sexy, gruesome, and absolute romance. I know most people can’t wrap their heads around dismemberment being romantic but trust me, it can be. Fractured Ties is all the lengths one man will go for his dushka. We should all be so lucky!!!!
Kolya gave us his clipped, short answers. He tried to shut us out but he couldn’t shut her out and that allowed the reader a chance to see everything the Vor was hiding. Watch out, guard your heart because Kolya is going to steal it without even trying. There’s a reason he has the thief’s cross.
Fractured Ties: Boykov Bratva by Bethany-Kris is the story of Maya Kozlov and Kolya Boykov.
Kolya is the oldest son which has lead his father to train him to be hard, harsh and a killing machine. So Kolya hasn’t never had it easy and has felt dead inside. Although him and his brother Konstantin are close and they had to be their for each other due to their father’s abuse. So when Koyla lays eyes on Maya something inside him wakes up…she makes him want something more than to just exists and kill for his father. Maya was a unwanted daughter to her father along with her brother who has no feelings for her really. So she is used to being but never having feelings really of love. But there is something about Kolya that shows her something she hasn’t felt before, yes he brings danger but he makes her feel something she never had before. Nothing is easy with their path because danger, lies and people wanting to keep them apart stands in their way. This was a page turning dark read…loved it.
4.5 Kolya Stars!
I LOVED getting to know Kolya & Maya in Fractured Ties. When we were first introduced to the Boykovs in the Seasons of Betrayal series I was drawn to Konstantin but Kolya has stolen a piece of my heart. He’s cold and ruthless when it comes to bratva business but a gentle giant to Maya and Sumerki. There is nothing he wouldn’t do for Maya.
Maya is such a sweetheart and so kind for someone who’s lived such a hard life. She knows what Kolya is capable of but only sees the good in him because he is so GOOD to her.
Kolya & Maya’s love story is inspiring. I LOVED Kaz’s cameo and learning the history between Vadim and Vasily. Fractured Ties was a great read. Can’t wait for the next book!
There is a reason that I will read anything that this author writes and that reason is that I know she will give me a Mafia story that is authentic, gritty, and intense. I know when I submerged myself in this story that there will be violence, and that there will so hard decisions. This book was all of that and more.
I think I need to go back and do a read-through of some of her older books because even though I felt like I should know who this family was, it wasn’t coming to me. That is not to say that anyone needs to read something previously to reading this book because they don’t. I just like to get a clear had of the timelines since so many of her characters have crossed over in other books. That being said, this felt like falling back into one of her original stories that had made me fall in love with this author in the first place. The original storyline, great characters, and a fantastic love affair. I enjoyed watching Kolya battle between these two extremely different people. He was one way, and that way was generally ruthless, with everyone except Maya. Maya seemed to be the catalyst for making him humane. Their moments were cute to watch. I loved how she was this little pixie-like thing compared to his 6 foot and then some frame and yet, he only lived to give her anything that would make her smile and never wanted anything to hurt her.
I also adored the rapport between Kolya and Konstantin. Even though they bantered like brothers, and their life in the Bratva was not easy. However, their brotherly love definitely paid off. I didn’t understand the father at all. I need to go back and check but the only Ana I can think of had a husband who adored her. If it is that Ana and these are her sons, I cannot imagine them having a father like this because he would be dishonoring her memory and how much he loved her. I could be way off, hence my needing to go back and check her other books. For anyone that hasn’t read any of the older books, this, again, will not detract from an amazing story.
Intense and brutal scenes of the lifestyle itself and what it takes to be a part of this criminal underbelly. I really hope that she continues this into more books. Regardless, if she writes it, I will read it.
4 STARS
This was another entertaining book from Bethany-Kris. The way Kolya and Maya’s story developed kept me intrigued. You’ll absolutely love their chemistry and the journey through their relationship.
Fractured Ties: Boykov Bratva by Bethany-Kris is a MUST read and will join the ranks of the BIBLIO-ELITE!!!
Have I mentioned lately how obsessed I’ve become with any and all things Bethany-Kris? Probably, but it’s worth mentioning every time I write a review because honestly, the stories just keep getting better! I’m already a fan of all thing organized crime but I love it even more from authors that bring the dark grit just as prominently as the love! And man did she bring it with this story!
The connection between Kolya and Maya sparked from the moment they hit the page. I was truly astounded at how well they connected and navigated given their individual history. Kolya, with his dominant, controlling, possessive and fierceness is exactly what Maya needed to lift herself up and see herself as the beautiful person that she was and Maya gave that right back to Kolya, with her steadfast devotion, understanding and acceptance of Kolya. These two were a love story I did not want to stop reading about. Yes, this is a dark story, but nothing about this romance felt dark to me. These two were an explosive light and their story was so captivating I wanted it to go on forever.
I love organized crime stories, whether they are mafia or bratva stories, they definitely have a sweet spot in my heart. The grittier they are, the better they are and Bethany-Kris always delivers on the grit, the passion, the storyline and the connection between her characters.
Kolya Boykov is existing in life. He’s surly, moody, angry, a man without a heart. As the oldest son, he will eventually follow his father position as Pakhan of the Boykov Bratva. He is close with his brother Konstantin in a combative loving kind of way. They really only have each other as their father is not really a father in any way shape or form. Maya Kozlov’s life is dreadful. She’s a daughter that her father didn’t want and a sister to a brother that was equally as awful. But when a faithful night brings Kolya and Maya together, neither would know that their life would be forever changed.
Life in the bratva isn’t easy or nice and for Kolya and Maya to be with one another, they must navigate lies and omission all centered around Maya. This story keep me on my toes and I couldn’t put it down. I loved the connection between the brothers and I especially loved how Kolya and Maya finally found their hearts and love in one another. And Sumerki……he was a wonderful and unexpected addition to Kolya and Maya’s life.
As I’m an epilogue junkie, I was slightly disappointed that there wasn’t one. The end felt a little rushed imo but I was happy with the outcome of the story. Keeping my fingers crossed that Konstantin and Viktoria each get a story as well.
Kolya is the rough and heartless son of a Bratva boss, and is not really living but just existing, that is till he spots Mays across the room. Maya has had a tough upbringing and is used to being unloved and overlooked. No spoilers: this is an absolute must read, you will not be disappointed. This is a beautifully written story which is raw, gritty, emotional, and with passion, drama, and love. I was totally hooked and intrigued throughout this addictive page turner which had me on tenterhooks throughout. I highly recommend this talented authors’ work for all.
I love mafia romance, crime romance, well pretty much everything regarding this world and I can’t be more happy with this story.
I love Kolya, he’s not good as he always says, his darkness is like a neon warning to run the opposite side, and that’s what Maya should have done, but maybe because she has seen the evil very close she decides to follow Kolya, after all it seems that he still has a piece of soul who hasn’t been corrupted, she sees it in the way he treats his dog, that has to mean something, right?
Maya knows the rejection, the pain and the humiliation from no other then she’s own father, she could never go unnoticed even if it was what she wanted most. So when Kolya takes her with him she doesn’t try to escape, together with him and Sumerki they will face the evil, intrigue and fight together against those who are willing to destroy and reap they apart.
It is horrible to see how your own father is capable of causing so much suffering to his children even when they are old.
I have also liked Konstantine and am looking forward to reading his story in a book just for him.
There’s so much I liked to say about this book but I feel that in my excitement the spoilers coming while I typing are going to be huge!!! I can only recommend to read it, you won’t regretted, I’m definitely not!!!
