Alanna isn’t sure what she is anymore. She’s gone from being an innocent and curious village girl to … something else entirely. After the experiments that destroyed everything she knew, she’s cursed with a power she can’t control. While on the run from the horrors haunting her past, she quickly realizes her own kind has turned against her. Now, Alanna must seek out the very species that ruined her … ruined her life; the talnarins. These creatures are capable of doing things no human can do, but she’s desperate for their help.
As Alanna tries to navigate this new life, it soon becomes clear that her very existence is a threat. Now she needs to prove her innocence or she stands to lose her entire life’s purpose … revenge.
In this frightening new world, will Alanna survive long enough to destroy the nightmares from her past? Or will she find herself a step too far behind?
**Recommended for 16+ due to profanity, dark themes, and violence. Slow burn romance, kicka** heroine, enemies to lovers tropes. This is not a standalone and ends in a cliffhanger.

This book was absolutely amazing. It had so many emotions going on that it kept you hooked until the very end leaving it hard to start another book after you finished and made you want to re read it just to enjoy it a second time
Fractured Past (Talnarin #1) by D.E. Chapman is the first book I have read by this author. This fantasy is not my normal genre I read but I enjoyed the book. This is Alanna’s journey and will take you on a wild ride full of suspense and action. I look forward to the next book to see how the story continues.
Fracture Past by D.E. Chapman is a first for me. Tho it took me some time to get into it I did enjoy it. I’m not a big sci-fi person but this did grab my attention. Alanna is out looking at the the lights show that she saw and the next it’s her worse nightmare. Being taken and changed to a hybrid. She is alone and doesn’t trust anyone. Although she does stumble upon some people in villages. Will she be able to open up or even trust anyone?
It was a good read. It’s action and drama and makes you want the best for Alanna. She is a strong character and you want her thrive.
I’m a little on the fence about this book by new to me author DE Chapman. It was a little slow in the start and had a lot of back and forth between between memories and current time. It was a little hard to keep track and I found myself going back and rereading the memories. It is a paranormal fantasy so be prepared for lots of strange sounding characters.
The main character Alanna was abducted one night as she attempted to show her town that going past the boundary was safe. Unfortunately, it was not. She was taken by Him and experiments were done on her. She now has a power she doesn’t want and has a hard time controlling. As she has escaped she finds herself in another village boundary where she is being trained to control her abilities. She thinks she is safe there until she overhears a conversation about her. Now she is on the run again to exact revenge on the group that did this to her. What she doesn’t know is that she is being used for the information she knows by another group of Talnarians. Once again she is caught between who she can trust and what she must do.
Once I got into the book and towards the end, I began to enjoy the story. It was a long book and I think could have been shorter, but worth the read for paranormal fantasy enthusiasts. With it ending the way it did, I feel like I need to read the next in the series. Thank you D.E. Chapman for the opportunity to read your story.
This book was really hard to follow in the beginning and I had to read over some of the chapters to try and understand it better. Although it was really hard to get into, it turned out pretty well when Alanna and Malik finally met. I thought “finally, we are now getting to the good stuff” but unfortunately it ended on a cliffhanger. Really looking forward to reading book 2 though.
Fractured Past is the first book in a series that will not provide answers to all of your questions and will leave you needing to read the follow on books.
The story visits past and present throughout the chapters and can leave you having to re-read paragraphs to ensure you know where the story is heading and what has happened. I was left at times feeling lost because I initially did not know who Alanna was, who had taken her and the illusive experiments and her memories were not clear.
As the book progresses you learn that Alanna’s memories will haunt her and she will need to find forgiveness for herself.
I was left still confused at the end but left wanting answers.
This was an interesting book. It sort of reminded me of a few best sellers turned into movies that I liked. It did have its own twist and some great characters. Though I did have to read some parts a few times over to makes sure I understood what had gone on.
This is part one of a series. We meet Alanna, a girl looking for an adventure after living in a small village her whole life. With another life form threatening their safety. The townsfolk are told not to leave the boundaries.
I found this book fun to read but it did have some dry spots. All in all it was good
