I was sixteen when he came to our house. Landon Jones, a boy with nothing, from nowhere. He had cinnamon hair and blue eyes—light blue, just like mine. When we went out as a family with my foster brother, people asked if Landon was my twin. He wasn’t. That year, we found out how much he wasn’t. When my parents caught us, they threw Landon out like trash. Now I’m twenty-nine, a soon-to-be surgeon, … soon-to-be surgeon, like my mom and dad. I know residency is going to kick my ass, but I had no idea that it would rip my heart out, too. Not until I see him—Dr. Jones.

It makes me soo happy when I’m blown away and surprised by a new author Especially when the book has been sitting in my library for months and when I finally pick it up WOW!!!! Yaay
I loved this story. I fell in love with the characters and the author’s writting (1st book by this author).
This had real, sad, serious issues and the author did an amazing job presenting them in a way that didn’t feel too heavy, loved it. I felt what these characters felt and I was able to put myself in their shoes and understand. It was a BEAUTIFUL love story. Soo super sweet & fun, Yes fun because these two can poke fun at each other in a loving kind of way like nobody’s business. Evelyn & Landon
Evie’s parents agreed to foster a 7 year old boy only to find out that Landon is not 7. There was a mix up in his paperwork and he is 17. Her parents agree to keep him because they think he will be a good fit. Landon was extremely smart despite his rough upbringing and was capable of great things if given a chance which Evie’s parents wanted to give him. Because of his rough upbringing he has a hard time sleeping which brings out the nurturer in Evie. She wants to help and save Landon. Not only does she save him but they both find their other half in each other. Their young love is so sweet and heart warming but Evie’s parents don’t see it the same way and Landon is forced to leave.
I love me some taboo/forbidden foster brother stories and this one is soo good. This story is in two parts. The young love as teenagers and them finding each other again as adults. I really enjoyed their story. It has one of my favorite tropes but has a different take on it that I thoroughly enjoyed. Landon was sad broken boy who was able to overcome the worst circumstances so that he could find his way back to Evie – his light in his dark world. I highly recommend this story.
Fractured Love by Ella James is a contemporary, second chance, forbidden romance told in first person, dual POV and told in two parts. Part one takes place in the past and reads like a coming of age YA romance, while part two takes place in the present and reads like an adult contemporary romance.
Evie meets Landon when he is placed with her family for foster care. Due to a typo, her parents were expecting a seven-year-old boy but were surprised with a seventeen-year-old instead. Landon and Evie are drawn to each other and soon form a deep connection that turns romantic. When her parents find out, they don’t take it very well and the two are separated. Ten years later, Landon and Evie meet again as part of the same medical residency. Their attraction and feelings for each other are still present but so much has happened in their time apart and there are secrets that must come to light.
I enjoyed Evie and Landon’s story. As characters, they were both flawed, relatable, and likeable. For the most part, I felt the conflicts were realistic but I also felt that the way Evie’s parents reacted to their relationship was extreme and over the top. Overall, it was an entertaining story with lots of twists and turns along the way. This is my first book by the author and likely will not be the last.
This story broke my heart! Landon was a sad , tortured soul. Thrown away as a baby, and never finding a place that was his. Evie’s parents agreed to one more foster kid, he was seven, and Evie and her sister had a good time fixing his room up! What a surprise! The seven year old turned our to be a seventeen year old that they agreed to keep! Finally a home for Landon! But that all gets ripped away! 10 years later Evie and Landon are reunited, the truths start unfolding, This story will break your heart then make you cheer! I loved it!
4.5 Second Chance Stars!
Wow, this forbidden romance captured my heart from the very beginning and never let go!
Evie Rutherford is smart, intuitive, and has a big heart. She was raised to help the helpless and love the poor. In comes her new foster brother, Landon Jones. He is handsome, funny, super intelligent, and has thick walls built up. Evie sees right thru his defenses and she won’t let him hide. They soon become much more than friends. When secrets are revealed they are tragically torn apart. The second half of this book takes place 11 years later. They meet again as interns at the same hospital. The deep emotion and affection is still there when their eyes meet. But can the events, secrets, and time be too much to overcome and heal their broken hearts? I loved both Landon and Evie. They were two halves of a whole. They challenged each other, comforted each other, and wouldn’t let either get away with any bull crap. Their banter was witty, and their chemistry was off the charts. I liked how they slowly unraveled years of secrets, pain, and accomplishments. This is a multifaceted story with wonderful characters and deep emotion that had me totally engaged from start to finish. I highly recommend this heartfelt, moving, sweet and sexy romance!
I have fallen in love when the blurb is out.. this is a non traditional second chances romance..
Evie is very curious about a new boy name Landon.. a mysterious foster boy who live in her house…
The story is a slow burn with an emotional attachment.. when Landon and Evie falling for each other.. its not a fairy tale.. its reality.. life must go on.. Its so painful to read the story with such a sad scenario.. pleading and being selfless.. Ella, this is unique and beautiful… I love the letters.. boy I adored Landon so much
Fractured Love is not what I expected, but it is just right. I expected (because I have a dirty mind) a tawdry affair and then the aftermath. It isn’t tawdry…don’t know why I expected it to be. Ms. James’ writing never comes off like a cheap soap opera but for some reason I expected a bit of one.
I absolutely and completely love the stepbrother romances. The steady, filthy, and the sweet. So the first time I saw the blurb for this book, I went seriously Tasmanian Devil crazy with grabby hands. Because nothing screams forbidden love like a foster sibling. Need does not begin to describe the depths of my longing. So with some finagle-ing and desperate whining on my part…here I am- smiling.
I really enjoyed this story. it’s has predictable moments but then it also takes you by surprise. It’s a perfect blend of sweetness and sighing. You know the happy sated sigh…with a side of hot damn need one of those sighs. (I’m married, not immune to amazingly hot fictional characters. sheesh)
So for any one out there looking for Fractured Love, go no further. However, snuggles, cuddles, and tea are accepted.
