Willow has realized that her handsome older man isn’t what she wants in her life. He has turned extremely possessive, and abusive, but she doesn’t see any way out of the relationship. Manu has seen more than wanted to, and enough to know that Willow is not being treated well by the man she calls her boyfriend. He wants to protect the girl he has feelings for, but he may have bitten off more than he can chew.
Compelling, sweet, and beautifully well written characters. Willow wants out, but is terrified of the man she thought she loved. She wants to trust Manu, but doesn’t want him to be hurt. She is also afraid of what her family will think of her if they were to find out about her lies if she were to go to them for help. Fascinating book with unexpected twists, and a very dark subject. As the friend of an victim of abuse I thought this was an accurate description of the pain, and fear, that abused women endure.
I am voluntarily leaving an honest and non-incentivized review of this ARC.
This book really makes you think about what happens in other’s lives.
This plot touches on some deep problems and is well-written.
The characters are great and play their roles well.
I love this author’s books.
Since the previous book, I was anxious to know what would happen to Willow and her unhealthy relationship with Heath. In this book we could see that the situation has worsened a lot for her, since he became extremely aggressive and started to abuse her more often. Meanwhile, she tries to find a way out of this relationship and starts to become interested in Manu, but Heath forbids her to even talk to any boy.
Manu realizes that things aren’t going well and decides to help her out of this situation, and what happens from there can change their lives forever. Although he’s a reckless boy, he’s very protective and a person of good character, risking his own life to save Willow.
In the meantime, we have a return to the relationship of Harper and Tane, who don’t know how to face the period of a year that she said she would stay on the farm before going to college. She hasn’t yet decided what to do with her life, and he wants to show everyone that they are together and love each other.
I just wanted to know more about what happened to April, since in the books she seemed neglected by her parents.
I loved this new story with old characters, they are all wonderful. I’m already looking forward to Beck’s story. I highly recommend the reading.
After the previous book in the series I was quite eager to get to this book and see how the stories of these characters continue. This book mostly is Willow’s story, she’s stuck in an abusive relationship, which she didn’t realize at first. Now she’s starting to see the relationship isn’t what she thought it was and it’s so hard to see her go through this. It is great to see how she deals with it all and gets through this and gets a sweet boyfriend who does treat her right.
As you can imagine from the subject matter this is quite the tough book to read, especially as Willow’s situation is getting worse and worse and she doesn’t see a way out. Until certain events happen and even then there is this tension until the end of the book while seeing how things get resolved. I felt so bad for her and the situation and how at first she didn’t realize anything was wrong, she thought he loved her, but he didn’t. And then having her realize that and feeling trapped, was hard to read. Luckily she has a great family and an awesome guy looking out for her and by the end of the book she’s in a much better place.
While most of the story has Willow dealing with her abusive relationship and fallout of that, there also is plenty of hope and positive feelings when she slowly grows closer to Manu. I really liked getting Manu’s point of view as well in this book and he’s such a good guy for Willow and such a contrast to her first relationship. I would’ve liked to see a bit more of them together as they get together pretty late in the book, but hopefully we get a bit of that in the last book. They made for a really sweet couple.
Besides Willow’s story, this book also has Harper and Tane’s point of views again, which was fun. they were the couple of the first two books, so it’s been awhile since we had their point of views. I was feeling a bit sad about the things they’re still struggling with like keeping their relationship a secret and the whole thing with Dylan is causing a rift between them. I was a bit frustrated at them for not talking things through and resolving things, but it makes sense they need some time to work through things.
Harper and Tane’s storyline doesn’t get fully resolved by the end of the book and I am still not sure what Harper will decide about her future. But I think we get to see more of them in the final book. I can’t wait to read that one! Seeing Harper realize what Willow has gone through was almost even harder than Willow’s point of view. It was a tense few chapters where they pierce things together and I really felt for Harper and how bad she felt about the whole situation.
One of my favorite things about this series is seeing the way this whole family comes together. We keep seeing the main characters from previous books and how this group of characters really has grown into a tight family. It really is awesome to see how they rely in each other and how everyone is shocked when they find out about what happened to Willow and is there to support her. I like seeing all these characters interact and gettign pieces of the character’s storylines even those whose point of views we don’t get in this book. And seeing how Beck deals with the whole situation was great and there are some really sweet scenes involving him trying to communicate and being there for them. I am so excited his story is next!
To summarize: this was another awesome read in this series. I had a hard time putting this one down as I wanted to keep reading and find out what happened next. This is Willow’s story, who is stuck in an abusive relationship. This book was sad and hard to read at times as Willow really is trapped in a difficult situation and you really feel her fear. Luckily there are also plenty of more positive emotions especially toward the end of the book and her relationship with Manu is so sweet. I hope to see a bit more of them together in the next book. this book also has Harper and Tane their point of views again, which was fun. Although I was a bit frustrated with their lack of talking hings through, it did feel realistic. And ofcourse we still see plenty of the rest of the family I like how close they all grow. I can’t wait for the next book, but I am also sad this series is coming to an end.
I can feel the end of the series coming and I’ve loved them all.
Nice to see Willow redeem herself, I didn’t want to slap her in this one.
This story is extremely emotionally draining, full of the ‘feels’.
Ms Ford’s writing style is so easy to slip into and lose yourself.
I’d suggest you read the entire series as you need to know how this all came about.
Wonderful series and I thoroughly enjoyed this one.
Fractured Girl vs Reckless Boy (Forever Love #6) continues to bring this series to the next level. Told in first person multi pov giving you all the characters own voice. A harrowing love story that you will take to heart. Secrets unravel, morsels of suspense sprinkled into the narrative, friendships questioned while other friendships rise, and family comes together. The writing style is captivating keeping you craving more. Absolutely love everything about this series. Character’s are compelling, realistic with flaws, and own personalities. Looking forward to reading the final book in this series which focuses on Harper/Tane and Beck/Sophie (new character). I will never be ready for this series to end as I’ve been swept off my feet with all the characters and storylines.
