From New York Times Bestseller, Pepper Winters, comes the fourth book in the USA Today Bestselling Dark Romance series, Goddess Isles“There was a truth once. Truth we shared in the dark and scribed scars upon our hearts. There was a lie once. A lie that shattered our hard-earned truth apart.”Eleanor Grace did the unbelievable. She fell for a man who trades in women, dabbles in myth, and has the … in women, dabbles in myth, and has the morals of a cold-hearted beast. However, love isn’t enough where past sins are concerned, and only pain can follow.
Sully Sinclair did the impossible. He gave his trust to a goddess who has the ultimate power to break him. Unfortunately, paradise is just an illusion, his islands aren’t impenetrable, and now he has to pay the price.
A fledgling connection.
A war they can’t stop.
A future that doesn’t bow to fate.
5 Stars – This series is forever going to be one of my favorites from Pepper. Heather, GR

OMG, this is the most intense, twisted, crazy, and addictive installment I have read in this series. Spectacular masterpiece that got me on the edge of my seat the entire read, with my emotions all over the place. Brilliant perfection of a series that is original and unique.
Whatever is coming, you need to braze yourself for it because it’ll bring havoc all over the place, and you’re going to start questioning who’s really a friend, and who’s a foe. Just expect the unexpected, and prepare yourselfs for this freaking wild ride!!
This is one of the best series I have read in a while, and I highly recommend it! In addtion, I’m listening to this fantastic series, and my emotions are all over the place once more.
This is the fourth book in the Goddess Isle series, and the continuation of Sully, and Eleanor’s story. This book continues from book three, and we are spun around the with the web of lies, and roller coaster of twist, and turns. This was amazingly written, the characters have palpable chemistry, and their story kept me glued to the pages. This was intense, emotional, passionate, dramatic, raw, gritty, twisted0, dark, suspenseful, and mysterious. I highly recommend this series! 4.5 Stars
4.5 stars—FOURTH A LIE is the fourth instalment in Pepper Winters’ contemporary, adult GODDESS ISLES erotic, dark, romance series focusing on billionaire Sullivan Sinclair, and his captive Eleanor ‘Jinx’ Grace. The GODDESS ISLES series is set in the same world as the author’s MONSTERS IN THE DARK and the INDEBTED series. FOURTH A LIE should not be read as a stand alone as it picks up immediately after the events and cliff hanger of book three THIRD A KISS:
WARNING: Due to the graphic violence and dark content of the story line premise, there may be some triggers for more sensitive readers.
SOME BACKGROUND: At twenty-one years old, Eleanor Grace was kidnapped, violated and drugged on her way to becoming a sexual slave. A prisoner in a gilded cage, Eleanor, along with several other girls, are either the willing sexual partner in a fantasy island paradise, or find themselves forced into a lifetime of suffering and pain. Purchased by billionaire Sullivan Sinclair, Eleanor is defiant to the end but a defiance that will come with a price. Four years a slave, Eleanor is about to discover that all is not well on the island paradise or with the man who now dominates and governs every aspect of her life.
If you have not read the first three instalment, there may be some spoilers in my review.
Told from dual first person perspectives ( Eleanor and Sullivan) FOURTH A LIE picks up immediately after the events of book three wherein Sullivan Sinclair’s past, hell bent on taking control of the Goddess Isles has taken control of the island paradise, imprisoning and torturing Sullivan in the process. With most of the island security dead or missing, Sullivan is at the mercy of his captor, a demented and psychopathic mind without empathy, conscience or remorse. Believing the woman he loves is safe, Sullivan gives into his fate only to discover Eleanor has returned to save the man that she loves. Jealousy and power are at the heart of the betrayal when Sullivan must face his own demons to protect Eleanor Grace, and the islands he loves.
FOURTH A LIE is a dark, gritty, raw and graphic story of betrayal, desperation and love; a story of the dysfunctionality of malice, jealousy, and carnal desires; an intense, dramatic, and startling tragedy . Once again, Pepper Winters tears at the fragile hold on humanity leaving nothing but a shred of pain and heart break.
Fourth a Lie is the fourth book in Pepper Winters’s dark and addictive Goddess Isles series. You can NOT read as standalone. Believe me, you want to read this series if you crave dark romance like I do. Once you start, you will not want to put to the book down. I can’t really say much about the story without spoiling it so here I go…
Love. Fate. Hate. It was all complicated especially for Sullivan and Eleanor. She loves him fiercely. He doesn’t want her to. Her love has made him weak and with a war coming, he needed his strength. He needed to be murderous not distracted. It was time to let go. He knew he didn’t deserve her and she needed to believe it.
Well, that’s it. I will say…Be prepared. Shit gets real.
Quotes:
I kissed him…but he devoured me.
“I don’t have the fucking strength to survive you.”
“I thought I knew who you were. I thought I had an answer to my question…but…who the fuck are you, Eleanor Grace?”
This was an amazing book! I couldn’t stop reading with so much anticipation for what was to come next! It tore me apart and left me gasping in the end.
Absolutely brilliant storytelling, I’m loving this series so hard!
I have been completely Sullied. He is an enigmatic force. A strong and compelling main character who is full of surprises. Pepper has developed Sully’s character with expert craftsmanship! He is devoted and loyal, caring and completely besotted by Eleanor!
Eleanor is stubborn and fierce in her devotion putting herself in harms way to protect the man she loves. Their love is put through trials and heart wrenching experiences and emotions.
Pepper Winters is one of my very favorite authors and this Series is truly going down as one of my ALL TIME FAVORITES! I keep seeing every action, hearing every word and sound, smelling every smell, tasing every delicious morsel and feeling every single emotion Sully and Eleanor experience! My senses are overwhelmed with awe and adoration in epic proportions! Bravo Pepper Winters! I await Fifth a Fury with bated breath:*)

In Fourth a Lie, we learn just how deep Drake’s hatred of Sully runs and what it leads to for his revenge against Sully. At the same time, we both see how strong both Eleanor and Sully are to serve and make sure Drake is stopped no matter the cost. Drake thinks he has the drop on Sully but he soon finds out that he underestimated his younger brother.
I LOVED how strong and persistent Eleanor is in the book. She practically exhausts herself trying to reach her goal and then once she meets it, she once again shows strength in the situation and she and Sully end-up in. And then there is Sully…dealing with circumstances beyond his control, he dug down deep and never gave-up. He is swoon-worthy and drool-worthy.
Fourth a Lie was amazing. I can’t wait to see what adventure Pepper takes us on in the book 5.
***Fourth a Lie of the Goddess Isles is book 4 of 5. You must have read the previous books.Pepper Winters
Oh my word what a spectacular story! I’m at a loss for words. My emotions and nerves are on edge. Every emotion is firing, I’m rendered speechless. I’m literally on the edge of the cliff, a whisper away as this book has painted such a vivid story. Every single detail and emotion is captured and holding me hostage.
This series is forever going to be one of my favorites from Pepper. Sully is all consuming, and truly one of her book boyfriends that will always be in my heart.
The action is off the charts, the chemistry is electric, and the ending is mouth dropping and everything. If you’re still on this ride, as you should be, this one is going to blow you away.
Pepper Winters has mastered a skill that very little have been able to accomplish, keeping me invested 4 books into a series, especially when it’s a continuation of the same couple. That is a feat unto itself. I’m usually skimming pages, or lost interest awhile ago – not with these books.
Fourth A Lie is going to be first in your heart, not that you stood a chance anyways.
Eleanor and Sully are back. This time around he is trying to push her away with everything he has. She is trying to hold tight. They are thrown a curve and must quickly adapt. Sully is at his weakest and most vulnerable. Eleanor must fight for everything she holds dear. Drake makes a return with a bloody splash. Lots of twists and turns and it ends on the mother of all cliffhangers.
Intoxicating and suspenseful!!
“PAIN. There were different levels of it. Different methods of it. Different versions of different reasons full of different deliveries.”
After the devastating events from last book Sully is torn and left in a rage with one thing on his mind, revenge. Eleanor is just had striking and still knows exactly what she needs. Both will stop at nothing to get what they want.
“I might be a girl. I might be biologically weaker in physical things. But I wasn’t a coward. And I wasn’t afraid.”
This series gets better and better with each book becoming my new favorite. Fourth A Lie is intoxicating and suspenseful. My heart was in throat and my stomach was full of knots from the very beginning to the last word. It is tragic and powerful. I cried many times chanting to myself this can’t be happening…this can’t be happening. There were times that I was for sure my heart was breaking into pieces.
“There was nothing weak about him. Nothing more terrifying than a beast backed into a corner.”
If you have come this far you know what lies a head…it’s brutal and it’s painful. Can love be enough? Will love be enough? Eleanor and Sully’s story isn’t over yet and I’m anxious to see their finale which I have no doubt will be explosive!!
“I ripped off my shirt and welcomed the insidious pull of demonic instincts.”

This series… I just don’t even know where to begin to describe it. My emotions are all over the place. As usual, this author has bewitched me by creating a story that shouldn’t be tantalizing but it is. IT SO IS. To the point, that I dream about Euphoria and elixirs because that is normal right?
The world-building is sublime in this series and continues in this story. It starts out a little slower than the previous books, even though it picks up right where it left off. The constant back and forth between these characters as they fought each other got to be a little tedious until Sully found himself in a similar predicament that Elanor had been in. Talk about coming full circle. The answers to who the traitor was, and it surprised me, were finally revealed, and some characters that I wasn’t sure I trusted before completely surprised me.
This connection between Sully and Elanor is mesmerizing. At times it almost feels like the connection is otherworldly and that they belonged in the myths of Greek Deities. The steam was animalistic, brutal, and decadent. I loved watching Sully come to terms with his humanity. It has been a bumpy ride to fully redeemable but it has been so worth it.
I knew when I started that this book was going to be intense and brutal and that Pepper was going to stomp on my heart and make me want to bite my nails to the quick. I was correct in that assumption. She has managed to do that with every story that she has written. I knew that this book would set up the climax of the story and that it would set up a conclusion, for the final book, in which Sully would both rain hellfire and reign supreme and that Elanor would be by his side. My prediction somewhat came true but only in the way that Pepper HAD to throw a twist in there. One, that I did not see coming. I swear she is a wizard.
The ending of this one, like the others, ends on a SERIOUS cliffhanger. My heart plummeted out of my chest. It was utterly breathtaking. even knowing that something dire was about to happen and hearing the inner thoughts of Elanor made it even more breathtaking and, also, excruciating knowing that it is a moth away to finally get the answers that I want and need. If this author was not in my top ten before then she most definitely is now.
After the way Third a Kiss ended, I was both excited an terrified going into Fourth a Lie. And, as it turns out, I had good reason to be. Fourth a Lie has a much more sinister vibe than previous installments with an in person introduction of a formidable villain and not only Sully and Eleanor’s relationship but their very survival on the line. Fourth a Lie brings with it high octane action, many edge of your seat moments as well as a heavy dose of passion, love and desperation. Sully and Eleanor’s fragile relationship gets tested to the max and, I have to say, I was in awe of Eleanor’s strength and commitment to Sully. Sully, in his infinite stubbornness, is trying to protect Eleanor in the only way that he feels he can, while fighting a seemingly unwinnable battle for his home and everything he hold dear. he is a god among men and yet infinitely mortal. My heart broke and I was completely entranced and horrified throughout this book. This one is definitely not for the faint of heart and steps us the level of darkness. While the focus shifts somewhat away from the relationship and into action, the love and passion still shines through. We also still get those scorching hot scenes that have been the hallmark of the series. In Fourth a Lie we also get a clearer picture of people’s loyalties and I was both appalled, awed, and developed a better understanding of certain characters. I know I’m being vague, but, as always, it’s best to go in blind and simply enjoy the ride. But make sure you hold on to the handrails on this one!
Book four left me breathless. My heart is still pounding, my mind is screaming NO, and my mouth hangs open as in “what just happened “?
This series has been absolutely fantastic. After every book I think to myself “the next one won’t be as good” but Pepper Winters surprises and shocks me every.single.time!
This is a series I will read over and over again!
I extremely recommend this book!
Pepper’s Tale of Volatile love in Goddess Isles could very well be renamed “The Impossibility Of Us”. I’ve rarely come across a couple so desperately in denial and so compelling and comabtive with their feelings. As pepper prepares to pour oil over water and set a match to it, the resulting explosion will knock you on your Ass!!
As the story gains momentum with every book, the inevitable crash is just around the corner. this runaway train of anger, desperation and frustration hurtles on a downward slope of lust, greed and betrayal. Allies are getting mixed with enemies and blood runs on the island like water. Humans and Animals alike are targets, with no mercy for any.
I’ve felt a thrill like never before, my toes curling in anticipation and heart palpitating like a jungle drum throughout this book. Every chapter sends a shiver up my spine. I trembled and gasped, was horrified and stunned at the enormity and frenzy of the assault on my senses.
Fourth episode starts with a truth and ends with a lie.
“There was a truth once. Truth we shared in the dark and scribed scars upon our hearts….
There was a lie once. A lie that shattered our hard-earned truth apart….”
And the fate of the Jinxed Relationship hangs by a thread.
Pepper polishes new facets of Sully’s personality. His shine gets brilliant with every scene.his love, devotion, loyalty and commitment gets tested often and he passes them with top honors
Eleanor is frustratingly stubborn and fiercely single minded in her goals. She gives wholeheartedly and is doggedly persistent in her pursuit.
Other side characters get their fare share to show their true colors too, some golden, some graphite.
I’m struggling to vague book without giving away spoilers, so I’ll suffice to say this-
Tumultuous and riotous Love is tested like never before and readers are in for a Rollercoaster ride. It will get scary and nauseous at times, even barbaric… and the end will leave you astonished at the massive turn of events. Tears won’t be enough, cries won’t be enough, pleas won’t be enough.
What’s done IS DONE!!!
I have to mention the twist in the climax. The reckoning buildup scene was filled with mistimed passion and indignance. Though it was arousing and desirous, it evoked pity and sorrow. There’s cries of both ecstasy and anger. Voyeurism and embarrassment were sitting together and the mood balanced delicately between degradation and honor
“We’d become dependent, obsessed, utterly and totally besotted with the one thing that would never let us be free again.
I’m his.
He’s mine.”
In my opinion that scene is the BEST WRITING PIECE I’ve ever read from Pepper.
The entire book will tear apart your heart, rip it into shreds and won’t afford you a respite to shed tears. Prepare to undergo the hysterical, non stop onslaught of the senses till you’re exhausted and drained…….and THEN pepper goes in for the kill!!!
Prepare to be annihilated with ALL the emotions running amuck in this Anti-Climatic book leading up to the Finale in next one.
I barely survived…..hope you do better!!
5 stars for For Feathered Sake
Oh my goodness! From one epic cliffhanger to another! This series constantly leaves me on tenterhooks!
Fourth A Lie caused me some major anxiety. There’s action and so much drama and still major steam! The evil that is Drake has completely turned the tables on the goddess aisles! I hate that character with a passion!
The change in Eleanor from how she was in the very first book to this fourth book is jaw dropping! So many changes have happened but Sully’s change is the most mind blowing for me.
I can’t wait for the next book and I have everything crossed that things go as I want them too and there’s a happy ending! Five stars!
HOLY WOW! MIND BLOWN! This fourth book in Pepper Winters’ Goddess Isles Series rocks and rolls from Page 1 to the end. Once you’ve started reading, you will be hard-pressed to stop turning pages and take a break until you’ve finished. The love story of Sullivan Sinclair and Eleanor Grace continues and is TOTALLY ADDICTIVE! It’s non-stop action filled with emotional turmoil. Just when you think there might be a resolution, the rug is pulled out from under you and you’re left reeling. What next, Pepper Winters? WHAT NEXT??!!! I am LOVING every word of this series and can’t wait for the final book in June. This is Pepper Winters’ writing at her best! A MUST-READ!
Sully and Eleanor’s relationship gets tested.Sully finally admitting his true feelings to Eleanor. His brother Drake was just waiting to strike and start a war.The book is very captivating.Pepper Winters is Queen of Dark romance.
When I started reading I couldn’t put it down.Pepper Winters is magnifysent and amazing writer.I cannot wait to read more of there books.Keep up the great work. You should definitely read this book. Can’t wait for the next book.
The fourth and penultimate book in the Goddess Isles series has left me once again desperate for more. This series continues to be up there with my favourite reads of all time and until Fifth a Fury releases my thoughts will be constantly with Sully, Eleanor and the others who remain on the Islands. I have absolutely no idea which way this story is going to go!
I don’t wish to say too much in my review as I want you to experience this book without obtaining even the slightest hint of any of the details. I will admit that the first part of the book was a little slow for my liking. I felt that I wanted the answers to come more quickly than what they did and maybe that was me being impatient more than anything. Saying that, once the action started I could not put this book down. It had everything I have felt in all the previous books – excitement, angst, fear, love, heartache, passion and everything else you can imagine. OMG it was thrilling, jaw dropping, intense and I couldn’t get enough!
The more time I spend with Sully and Eleanor the more I fall in love with this couple. They have a connection that many of us will envy. Eleanor continues to amaze me and in Fourth a Lie we see more of her strength and determination. When I think back to my first thoughts regarding Sully and how I see him now, there has been a big shift in my opinion of him. Please don’t get me wrong, I’ve always found him attractive and I can’t help but fall for an alpha bad guy but now he has my whole heart and I hope that even though he has made some mistakes, that he does get his happy ending. I hope that Eleanor does too!
I cannot recommend this series enough. I know that some of Pepper Winter’s regular readers have been waiting for all the books to be released before starting to read this series – she is Queen of cliffhangers after all. So I’m feeling a little jealous of those who will soon be embarking on this incredible journey, reading the series for the first time. I give this instalment 4.5 stars because I would have liked a faster pace in the early part of the book but honestly that niggle was almost forgotten due to the excitement that followed.
It is getting harder and harder to figure out how to write these reviews! I have spent days debating what to write and how to write and I simply can’t.
This story is a battle. Your emotions will be all over the place and you will probably want to throw you kindle/book and curse the author for making you suffer. But if you know anything about the author and the stories she tells, you know that everything happens for a reason. The journey will be hard and it will push the characters to the breaking point. It makes them stronger and more capable of surviving and thriving in the chaos that is their lives. Their love is beautiful and endless, dark and possessive and they will destroy anyone that threatens it. Remember that as you read it. No spoilers from me. Be prepared for the end, as it always comes way to soon, and remember that this is number four and five will be here before you know it! Enjoy the torture and messed-up love that is Eleanor and Sully. You will not be disappointed!
This book will definitely have and keep you on the edge of your seat. It was the most emotional book for me thus far from all of the books I’ve read in this series. I have never wanted a character to be killed off so bad. Sully and Eleanor’s story not only captivated me but it has me invested in their story and leaves me wanting more and more. This story will have you screaming at the characters for a whole list on reasons and once you read the story you will know exactly what I’m talking about. Jealousy definitely came through in this story. Her actions will surprise everyone especially knowing what it could cost her. There is definitely a twist in this story that completely blindsided me. It had me saying no freaking way. When there is war, no one is safe and their will be casualties. That ending though, it will have you screaming no freaking way. Just when you think things are getting better, this story bends you over and screws you. I can’t wait to read the next book.
