A standalone romantic comedy of epically awkward proportions, from New York Times bestselling author, Emma Hart.Imagine this. You’re ready to leave after a one-night stand, and you’re figuring out how to—shock horror—leave your number and ask him to be your fake boyfriend for your sister’s wedding this weekend. When he wakes up.Well, that happened to me. And over coffee and omelets, I found myself … omelets, I found myself a date.
Which was how I ended up arriving at the wedding with a guy I knew nothing about.
I didn’t know his last name, or how we met, or how long we’d been dating. I didn’t know where he grew up, what he’d majored in in college, or how many siblings he had.
I sure as hell didn’t know he was Adam Winters, hotshot hockey player—and not only my father’s favorite player, but my little nephew’s freakin’ idol.
Which means I’m in trouble. Big, big trouble.
My mother is suspicious, my sister is bridezilla on crack, and my grandpa will tell anyone who’ll listen about his time in Amsterdam’s Red Light District.
Four days.
I have to keep this up for four days, and then Adam and I can return to our regular lives, where we don’t have sex whenever we’re alone and my family aren’t interrogating him over his intentions with me.
At least, that’s the plan.
And we all know what happens to those.

If you want a fun read that will have you alternating between being in stitches and swooning then this is the book for you. I absolutely loved this book and this is why Emma Hart is my go-to author for Rom-Com’s. Once you start you will not be able to put this down until you have finished.
Poppy needs a date to her sisters wedding! who better to ask then Adam who she has just had a one night stand with! what could possibly go wrong with him pretending to be her fake boyfriend.
I absolutely loved how awkward, sassy and sarcastic Poppy was. She wore brilliant t-shirts that reflect her mood. She just has to survive the weekend with her family. Adam was her complete contrast. He was sexy, had the patience of a saint. He manages to completely handle Poppy’s crazy and he seems to compliment her and embraces her wit. She open’s up feelings that he never thought he would have. With his job, relationships are hard.
This was full of humour, brilliant banter, funny relatives you would hide from if they were yours but love that they are someone else’s. This is one hell of a MUST READ for the summer
Poppy has a dilemma…she can either face Satan..aka her mother…at her older sisters wedding alone, and face the punishment OR she can ask the random hot guy…ADAM…she hooked up with the night before if he’d go with her and be her pretend boyfriend.
Adam agrees..because who wouldn’t want to spend more time with the unfiltered, sarcastic sloganed tshirt wearing firey read head…. especially if it means they can have a four day fling?
The plan has been set, their stories are straight but she doesn’t count on Adam being a famous hockey player and her family all being his biggest fans!! Or finding herself liking him a whole lot more than she expected!
A truely enjoyable, laugh out loud romantic comedy. The interaction between Poppy and Adam was fantastic and their romance was a believable one… because despite the sass and constant sarcastic comebacks… they were a very cute and believable couple.
An enjoyable way to spend an afternoon
I loved the premise of this book and it didn’t disappoint! I’m actually looking up single hot hockey players right now.
Poppy is a spit fire and I loved that the sass factor and eccentricity was kind of toned down a bit for her. Oh she was definitely sassy and full of spunk, but it was a lot more realistic his time.
Adam is a dream! He’s sexy, sweet and super romantic.
Seriously, don’t look at my Google history for today.
Four Day Fling was the most fun book I’ve read in a long time. I read most genres and they all end up with the same story lines and characteristics, but Emma keeps it fresh with her funny and charming characters, all the while making it all seem so realistic that I went to Google after I was done with the read. Sigh, no Adam Winters, hockey player is showing up in my search.
5 Stars
This book is amazing! Poppy is my spirit sister!
Poppy is clumsy, hard-headed, argumentative, has one hell of a temper and needs a date for her sister’s wedding or her mum will likely have a bigger cow than usual. When she wakes up after a one-night stand and considers leaving him a note asking him to be her date she knows she is officially losing it until he wakes up hears her out and agrees.
Adam has a free weekend from work and decides why not, Poppy is gorgeous, and he is sure the weekend will be a fun one.
What Poppy doesn’t know though is that Adam is a famous hockey player, she finds out when her entire family recognise him. After this revelation things get even crazier for Poppy and Adam.
Can they keep the secret from her family that this is only fake? Can they keep their feelings out of it all and not get hurt in the long run?
This book will have you laughing out loud the whole way through.
OMG! This book! I laughed so much while reading Four Day Fling by Emma Hart. After a long couple of days it was just what I needed! I have always loved Emma Hart’s romantic comedies, but this really blew me away. The characters, the situations, the awkwardness! I just loved every minute of it!
Now imagine having a one-night stand, that was phenomenal mind you, and now having to convince said one night stand to be your date at your sister’s weeding as your new fake boyfriend. All this while you are really just trying to sneak out on yet again, said one-night stand. And somehow, you do end up with a fake-date for your sister’s wedding. A date you know absolutely nothing about.
When she discovers her “fake-date” is a favorite pro athlete of her family, all bets are off. Her family loves him, but they are also suddenly suspicious, nosey and all over their business. On top of that, once Adam and Poppy were “faking” it for her family, we could clearly see the chemistry and sparks between them were anything but fake.
I loved Poppy. She was strong and determined, even with a crazy family. A mother who is a bit overbearing, a sister going crazy with her wedding and a family full of crazy! And Adam! For being an athlete, he was sweet and just such a nice guy. He was patient and just went with all the craziness during this four-day wedding from hell.
I truly loved reading Four Day Fling by Emma Hart. This book was sweet, charming and full of feel good laugh out loud moments. I loved, loved, loved the characters so much and the story was engaging and just so much fun to read!
Read and reviewed for Reviews From The Heart.
Happy reading!
Poppy is absolutely amazing she is awkward and stubborn and I just love it! I just makes her feel real and relatable. I adore Adam. I love how he plays off of Poppy. They just have this pure natural chemistry and they can play off of each other so well.
I really like the four day fling storyline and how their relationship developed amongst Poppy’s crazy family. It was fun to see how Adam viewed it all and I like how he puts things in perspective for Poppy. Her family is crazy and hilarious. The humor through out the book was fantastic, it made me want to keep reading and reading! I absolutely loved this story.
Four Day Fling is Emma Hart’s new laugh out loud rom-com. Emma always delivers the laughs, sexiness and fun. Poppy is just the right amount of funny, awkward and hilarious. After spending one night with a sexy stranger, she decides to ask him to be her date for her sister’s wedding. I four day weekend. But, she barely knows his first name, let alone his last and that he’s a famous hockey player. Adam is attracted to Poppy like no other woman in a long time. She’s sassy, sweet, funny, gorgeous and crazy pants! He’s totally in for more time with her even if he has to be around her outrageous family full of cuckoo nuts! It’s worth it for Poppy’s kisses, her smart mouth and how she can make him laugh. Poppy knows her feelings are getting involved, and she doesn’t want it to end. Adam wants more time with Poppy, but he doesn’t know what she wants? Can these two put their stubbornness aside and admit how they feel? I loved every second of this story! I laughed, teared up, got hot and bothered and totally swooned over Adam. He’s perfection! Just the right amount of cocky to go with his sweetness.
The King of Kissing was about to kiss me.
“You are a genius.”
“I captained a team of men to the Stanley Cup last season and I grew up with four sisters and didn’t die.”
“We’re good together and you know it, Red. And I’m not just saying this, but seriously. I’m rich. I’m famous. I’m good in bed. I am one hell of a catch.”
I am new to Emma Hart. The characters were awesome! The writing styles refreshing! The Author phenomenally talented!!!!! I will most DEFINITELY read more from this author!!!!!
One of my favorite movies to watch when I’m in the mood for a good chick flick is the Wedding Date. This books has a touch of a feel like this movie. And when I say a touch, I mean like the only thing they really have in common is that Poppy, our main character, asks a guy to be her date at her sister’s destination wedding. That’s it. Regardless, I love the Wedding Date, and I absolutely adored Four Day Fling.
Story Line: Poppy’s sister is getting married and she has a dilemma. She needs a date to the wedding so her over judgmental mother (girlfriend, I feel you more than you will ever know) will leave her the heck alone. So who does she ask? The guy she just had a one night stand with. Seems logical, right? The crazy part? He totally agrees to it. Adam and Poppy had a hot night together after meeting at a bar. They know first names. That’s it. Yet he agrees to be her wedding date. What he probably should have told her ahead of arriving for the festivities? Oh, just that he’s an uber famous hockey player. You know, no big deal, right? Well, it makes things interesting that’s for sure. And once the wedding is over and it’s time to end things, they can walk away – no harm, no fowl. WRONG. Thank the Lord Adam isn’t a typical male and removes his head from his arse before it’s too late.
Interaction: Poppy is a red head, with a personality to match. She’s fiesty, determined and independent. However, when it comes to her mother? She’s reduced to feeling like she’s not good enough. All of that confidence is gone. And holy crap, could I relate. My mom had a very high expectation for me growing up and I remember feeling like I would never be good enough for her all throughout high school. Fast forward 15 years, and honestly? Yep, still feeling the same way. So I related to Poppy’s character on a very personal level. When she would dread going to somewhere knowing her mom was there, or when she would prep Adam before an event that involved family? Yep, been there and done that. Thank the lord Adam is a hottie with a heart of gold. Because even with all of Poppy’s quirks, he falls head over heals for her.
Laundry: When a book starts immediately following laundry, I just know, deep in my soul it’s going to be a good one. And that’s exactly what happened with Four Day Fling. Poppy is awkward. Adam is smooth and delicious. So when they hit the sheets? It’s momentarily funny, but all together hot, hot, hot.
Depth: Even though this book takes place over the course of a week (for the most part) there’s a ton of family drama that adds layer after layer of depth. Mom issues. Sister issues. Weird and odd aunts and uncles. Check yes to all of those boxes. But it makes for a super funny, super sweet and sexy as sin book. I ate this book up like a bag of sour cream and cheddar chips (my fav). I loved it and would recommend every single one of you picking it up to read ASAP
Four Day Fling is Emma Hart’s next hilarious rom-com. I just love the snarky, badass, and sassy characters she brings into my TBR list. I stopped reading the synopsis of her books long ago. I like being surprised by the antics her characters get themselves into. Poppy, well, she tops the list when it comes to the awkward.
When Adam woke up to his one night stand at the end of his bed staring at him. He definitely didn’t think she’d be asking him to be her fate boyfriend to her sister’s wedding. Who does that? Apparently, this awkwardly witty redhead did. And he was all in. Why not? She gets a date to keep her mom off her back and he gets to spend it with Poppy on hers. It’s a win-win, really. That was until he got there. That was when the real fun began…
Poppy warned him. Her family is crazy. Like, should be locked up crazy especially when all together for four days with the alcohol flowing. To her surprise, he didn’t run off on the first day. Hell, she wanted to. But, then she wouldn’t get to have her fun with his magical cock or wicked tongue. They didn’t know much about each other but they knew how to get the other to come. That’s all they really needed to know, right? It was just a weekend fling then off they go in separate directions. What she didn’t realize was that her family would love him. Why, you ask? Because he was a hockey God and her family was obsessed with the game. She was so screwed…
Because she liked him too. Not because he was a hockey God. Shoot, she didn’t even know he played the game. She didn’t follow sports. She followed baseball pants only because those did things to a woman. Ok, back to her liking him. He made her laugh. He got her shirts. He didn’t run away from her attitude, he shut her up with kisses. Still, it was only going to be four days of witty, sexy, and fake fun. So, why did it feel so real?
OMFG! This book is hysterical. Yes, Poppy is over the top but that was why I loved her. She was herself. She is also more than she thinks she is. You have to read the book to understand that. Then there is Adam. I fell for him. Hard. It was easy to. He has the perfect blend of sweet, funny, sexy, and cocky. Together, their banter is unreal. Their chemistry is hot. Their story is so them.
Overall…if you need to good laugh, ideas for the greatest t-shirts, and a love story to make you feel good, read this book! It not only will make you laugh and flushed. It will make you appreciate your loved ones.
Quotes:
“You got it, Red.”
“Red? What kind of a name is that?”
“The kind I give to a redhead whose name I can’t remember,” he said simply, hitting the start button on his impressively big coffee machine.
Oh, thank God. It wasn’t just me.
He tasted of whiskey and coke, and he smelled like my next big mistake.
“My shirt says I don’t give a s- what yours says.”
“You’re not wearing a shirt.”
“I know. Aren’t you lucky? You can feel these abs all day long.”
Emma Hart is the queen! I bow down to her uncanny and unstoppable humor! Four Day Fling was nonstop fun, nonstop humor, nonstop quirky, nonstop awkwardness… this book just did not stop! It might actually be my favorite Emma Hart book now, and I didn’t think anything could top Being Brooke. But Emma Hart shows her true talent as an author here. These characters are so vivid and so real… Ms. Hart is shining!
Poppy sarcasm and wit could not have been any funnier. I laughed so hard I wet myself several times. There isn’t a single thing about Poppy’s character that I didn’t adore. She was everything! Adam is just the perfect ying to Poppy’s yang. Adam has the patience of a saint… to deal with Poppy’s humorous and plentiful antics he had to be! I adored, just plan adored and swooned over Adam! He had this open and honest (ironic, I know) feel to him that I couldn’t stop swooning over! He’s just the perfect calm to Poppy’s crazy!
Poppy and Adam show you what an amazing relationship can look like in the first few days when you can’t get enough of the other person and it’s clear you have some major chemistry and there’s an amazing sexual tension. They are so adorable together… I could not read Four Day Fling quickly enough. I adored them so much!! They are one of my favorite couples EVER!!! Ok, I have to mention these secondary characters… they were all so strong and just perfect!
Emma Hart is at the top of her game! Her characters are strong and full of life. I love that she has the ability to write amazing secondary characters that don’t overshadow her charismatic main characters. Ms. Hart’s people become real to me. Her writing is so strong… once I start her books I am unable to stop, seriously it’s a compulsion! The wit and humor, the banter and playfulness, the heat and sex, the feelings and the inner struggle … just everything about Ms. Hart’s books pull me in!!!
I received an ARC of this book with the hope that I would leave an Unbiased Opinion. I was not required to leave a review, positive or otherwise, and my opinions are just that… my opinions.
It was only supposed to be a four day fling. Four. Day. Fling. No feelings were supposed to develop. Going to her sister’s wedding as a fake boyfriend should have been easy. But, nope. This Rom Com is a super fun read. It is definitely a hilarious read. I know it left me wanting more. The characters are probably the best I’ve read in a while. Poppy is quick, sassy, awkward, but doesn’t need no man! Alex is just everything you could want in a man. He’s smart, gorgeous, funny, and can handle Poppy and her family.
Emma wrote this story amazingly. I promise you will fall in love!
Emma Hart did it again! Such a fun laugh out loud read!
Poppy hooks up with a hottie for the night and when she wakes up next to him, she’s trying to figure out how she can ask him to her sister’s wedding next weekend. So, she stands there staring at him until he asks why she’s there. As crazy as it sounds, Adam agrees to be her date for this four day wedding weekend!
That’s when the craziness begins. Poppy’s date shows up and everyone is starstruck except Poppy who has no idea that she just bought a star hockey player as her date. Of course, her family is huge hockey fans and knows who he is immediately. Her sister knows that she has no idea who he is but truthfully that’s the way Adam likes it. He knew she was into him the person not him the hockey player.
Poppy is sassy and speaks her mind. Her mom is the devil so there’s definitely fireworks when Poppy and her mom are together. Her t-shirts are to die for and totally piss off her mother. Adam is quite the charmer and wins everyone over to his side. Now Poppy’s worried how to break up with since she’s fake dating him and not look like an idiot. Adam is the sweetest guy especially putting up with Poppy’s zaniness.
Not to mention, the shenigans around the wedding, will keep you laughing too!
A fun read!
What and absolutely super Rom Com, right from beginning to end !!!!
This story centers around Poppy and her One night stand Adam, who she also invites as to her sisters wedding as her plus one Fake Boyfriend! Hoping that he can deal with her Crazy Family.
I loved both these characters, Adam was sinful sex on a stick and Poppy was a mishap waiting to happen, sarky mouth, sassy and a temper to match her hair !! These characters and their antics, just felt so real, the dialogue was so natural, and had me in many fits of giggles. The family, well what can i say, they remind me so much of a typical household !! The mother with her need to have everything right and control it, the dad with his quiet demeanour, yet knows all, the sister being a bit of a bridezilla, and of course the grandparent with the loose tongue and no filter!! lol as i said a mishap of events bound to happen and yes its definitely Poppy in the middle of it all!!! I loved the relationship that developed between Poppy and Adam, definitely a match of opposites destined to forever keep each other on their toes. Add in some extra little surprises (especially about Adam) and you really are hooked all the more!!
Four Day Fling is the kind of summer romance that I can’t possibly resist. The story-line is fun and entertaining. The characters are a riot and captivate me instantly. And the romance just puts a smile on your face. Emma Hart is quickly becoming my go-to author when I’m in the mood for a romantic comedy. When I need a smart, snarky and independent heroine and a hero that melts your heart, I know exactly who I can count on…
One of things I loved most about this story was the characters. Poppy was quirky, awkward, and totally independent. She is a total riot and you just can’t help but fall for this girl. I mean, imagine having a one night stand with an incredible guy, and then inviting said guy to a wedding. I mean, I wouldn’t have the courage to do something like that! And I just loved her snarky attitude and I want to know where I can find some of the shirts that she has. They just cracked me up! This girl may have thought she was a complete disaster, but she couldn’t be more wrong. She was the glue that holds her family together. And then Adam… He is a total breath of fresh air. He’s famous, but is drawn to Poppy because for the first time, someone is interested in Adam the guy, not Adam the professional hockey player. The connection he feels for Poppy is intense, so when she asks him to be her fake date for her sister’s wedding, he can’t resist. I have to say, I just adored Adam. He was sexy and intense, yet he made me swoon and could handle all the crazy Poppy threw his way.
I just loved Poppy and Adam together. Their connection was instant and intense. I loved how effortless things were between the two of them. The lines of pretend and real blurred so easily. I couldn’t help but root for these two. They entertained me so much. Adam was the balance that Poppy needed. He figured out how to handle her stubbornness and wasn’t afraid to go after what he wanted.
And of course, another thing to love about this story is the family. You’ve got the sister who’s close to becoming bridezilla. A mother who you’ll never be able to please. A father that just goes with the flow, but is always in your corner. And a grandfather & aunt who are sure to leave you in stitches. I just loved the family dynamic of this story and couldn’t wait to see what each family member would do next.
Four Day Fling was an entertaining read from beginning to end. The story is well written and captivating. I easily devoured this book in just a few short hours. The characters were fun, entertaining and easy to connect with. There was a good balance of humor, sexy good times and drama. Four Day Fling is the perfect summer read that will have you laughing and swooning. Emma Hart has once again delivered a fun and unforgettable romantic comedy.
The idea behind storytelling, is to tell a story, and the author has done that when she gave up Poppy and Adam. This is a light read, that give quick one liners, and shows us the authors quick wit. She really shows us that, it’s okay cause there are worse families out there.LOL This story was great, Poppy was a hot mess, and Adam, was patient and dreamy. There is no angst, there is no suspense, but what there is, is love and laughter. Told in Poppy’s pov.
Four day fling is a quick, sexy, Rom Com.
A one night stand turns into a four day fling, but will they get their happy ever after?
I adored Poppy and Adams characters, the chemistry between them is undeniable.
I loved Poppy’s relationship with her father as it reminded me of mine.
It was such a fun read
Four Day Fling is the latest Rom-Com from the fabulous Emma Hart. If there’s one thing Emma is known for, is her Sassy Ass Characters. Four Day Fling has them in bucket loads.
Poppy awakes from a one-night stand and although its awkward. Whats making it more awkward is the idea that is running through her head. Should she invite the almost-complete stranger to her sisters wedding this weekend to be her fake boyfriend. Spending Four days with her crazy ass family.
What could possibly go wrong?
Poppy is hilariously awkward, sarcastic, and her red hair adds to her fiery spitfire attitude. Adam is a ice hockey player when he finds himself in a bar with the one person who doesn’t have a clue to who he is. It’s a refreshing change, this spitfire has caught his attention. So spending four more days with this crazy girl sounds a lot more fun than staying home alone. Surely her family can’t be as bad as she makes out…. Surely…..
This book was a funny, light, fun, flirty read. It was loaded with hilarious sarcasm and banter. A whole lot of awkward and crazy moments that i loved. I come from a huge family and it just reminded me of our family get togethers. Craziness makes for a fun and happy family.
If you are looking for a lighthearted, fun rom-com then I can definitely recommend this book.
Poppy and Adam are conning everyone and maybe just maybe themselves as well. Waking up after a night of fun frivolity and forking is supposed to include a lot of things such as a sneaky grab for your clothes, tip toeing for the door and a walk of shame – but when Poppy stares down at her bedroom tango partner she suddenly has a plan. If he’s game she wants him to act as her human shield at her sisters upcoming wedding. Her moms made it plan, show up alone and face my wrath, so Poppy is willing to have a very awkward morning after conversation if it lands her a date. When Adam spotted Poppy in the bar and knew right away she was none the wiser who he was, he was pleasantly surprised. When she proposed her cockamamie idea for a fake boyfriend the next morning, for some reason he feels compelled to help Red out. Her families nuts, she’s awkward as all get out, and he’s getting spotted left and right – but soon these days of pretend turn in to so much more.
I voluntarily read an advance reader copy of this book
NO SPOILERS!
Emma Hart brought it again with another fun, flirty, and hilarious standalone romantic comedy in Four Day Fling, and I absolutely loved it! The storyline and characters were wonderful, and I loved Emma Hart’s writing style and sense of humor. Four Day Fling has been my favorite rom-com from Ms. Hart this year, and I can’t wait to read more!
The storyline was great. The fake boyfriend/wedding date trope wasn’t a new concept, but I loved Emma Hart’s take on it. Between the witty banter, a dysfunctional family, and sassy and sarcastic characters, the plot was immensely entertaining from beginning to end. I know other romantic comedy lovers won’t be disappointed.
The characters were hilarious and nothing short of entertaining. Adam and Poppy were a match made in sarcastic heaven, and I loved them so much. Adam was more rational of the two, but still sweet, funny, and charming. Poppy was a feisty, sassy, and sarcastic heroine you couldn’t help but love. She and Adam made a perfect couple, and it was a delight watching their story unfold. I loved their personalities and chemistry together, and how their relationship progressed throughout. I loved reading the book from both Adam and Poppy’s point of view, although I would’ve loved more chapters from Adam’s perspective, and all of their banter and interactions with each other. There were a few areas that I would’ve loved more from, specifically more romance and sexy times between Adam and Poppy. They clicked right from the start, but I still would’ve loved a deeper connection between them. Poppy’s family and friends were pieces of work, but they definitely added to the entertainment factor of the story. All in all, Four Day Fling was a funny and entertaining romantic comedy, and I was very happy with the conclusion to Adam and Poppy’s story.
Four Day Fling was a humorous and entertaining standalone romantic comedy, and I would definitely recommend it! Emma Hart did an excellent job with this book, and I was very pleased with the outcome to Adam and Poppy’s story. Four Day Fling has been my favorite romantic comedy from Emma Hart this year, and I can’t wait to read her next one, Best Served Cold!
