A standalone romantic comedy of epically awkward proportions, from New York Times bestselling author, Emma Hart.Imagine this.You’re ready to leave after a one-night stand, and you’re figuring out how to—shock horror—leave your number and ask him to be your fake boyfriend for your sister’s wedding this weekend.When he wakes up.Well, that happened to me. And over coffee and omelets, I found myself … omelets, I found myself a date.
Which was how I ended up arriving at the wedding with a guy I knew nothing about.
I didn’t know his last name, or how we met, or how long we’d been dating. I didn’t know where he grew up, what he’d majored in in college, or how many siblings he had.
I sure as hell didn’t know he was Adam Winters, hotshot hockey player—and not only my father’s favorite player, but my little nephew’s freakin’ idol.
Which means I’m in trouble. Big, big trouble.
My mother is suspicious, my sister is bridezilla on crack, and my grandpa will tell anyone who’ll listen about his time in Amsterdam’s Red Light District.
Four days.
I have to keep this up for four days, and then Adam and I can return to our regular lives, where we don’t have sex whenever we’re alone and my family aren’t interrogating him over his intentions with me.
At least, that’s the plan.
And we all know what happens to those.

Every chapter seems like it throws laughing gas at me.
P L O T
Majority of the book is set in the four days leading to the wedding but you wouldn’t want to be anywhere else! Poppy’s family is C-R-A-Z-Y. It’s like going out with your wild friends, but worse because it’s your family. They’re at a resort but they’re doing everything else but relaxing. I must say this was such an easy read, you can read it in one sitting ‘cause you wouldn’t want to put it down. You can’t just read a chapter and leave it. I think the ending felt a bit rushed, a bit more of character development could have been done but I understand the book has to end.

I love Poppy and Adam, well I love Adam more with me.
Adam Winters
He’s perfect, his smile and laugh and panty-dropping delicious. He’s naturally charming and I don’t know if I loathe it or love it. He’s simply perfect. And that nickname he gave to Poppy! Ah! I love nicknames.
Poppy Dunn
As cool, calm and collected Adam is, Poppy is the exact opposite. She’s all over the place with the smartest mouth you could ever find. I love her sassy attitude.
These two are perfect for each other. I want what they had for the four days. The kind of relationship that just clicked and you know the search is over.
W R I T I N G
Brilliant, utterly funny and heart-melting. I want more of Emma Hart’s works. Written in the point of view of both Poppy and Adam’s though most of it was Poppy’s. Writing some chapters in Adam’s point of view was a smart move. It made me love him even more knowing his thoughts, motives and feelings.
O V E R A L L
This is the funniest book I’ve read so far. I need to read more Rom-coms, they are the perfect medicine to a lonely or hectic day. For the few days I spent with Poppy and Adam, I am already feeling the little hole in my heart. I miss these characters.
I half expected to see a book about Poppy’s best friend but it’s all in the hands of the author. Can’t wait to read more from Emma Hart soon.
THIS. FREAKING. BOOK. IT’S SO DELICIOUS!! It’s HOT HOT I knew after reading the blurb that it was going to be SUPER FUN but I never expected to be completely ADDICTED!!! From the first page, I couldn’t put it down. Four Day Fling is charming, witty, freaking sexy and hilarious. This is the best rom com of my year to date!!!
Poppy Dunn and Adam Winters are a match made to turn you kindle to ashes!! Seriously burning up the pages with dynamite wit, lightening fast dialogue, and chemistry to light your panties on fire!!!
Where can I get a rich, famous, sex god hockey player as a fake boyfriend for the weekend? Sign me up for that wait list. Adam Winters is your run of the mill fake boyfriend for Poppy’s family wedding until everyone realizes he’s their hockey hero. Combine his sports status with Poppy’s crazy dysfunctional family, Poppy’s sarcastic wit and you’ve got a romantic comedy that JUST WON’T QUIT. Page after page of laughs, and a relationship that maybe it’s so fake after all.
I want to give this book all the FREAKIN STARS If rom coms are you jam, this one is a definite CAN’T MISS MUST READ. I FLOVED this book SO HARD!!!
I absolutely loved Adam and Poppy’s story. They were so easy going about their situation when they made plans to have Adam attend her sisters wedding as her plus one. But things got truly interesting once they arrived for the start of the weekend.
Poppy and Adam had me grinning throughout the story. From their teasing, sexy banter, Poppy’s sass and sweet moments it was easy to fall for these characters. I can tell you I was truly pulling for them the whole time.
Emma is truly on top of her Rom-Com game with this story. She keeps you engaged throughout the story and makes you vested in the characters and their plight. Once again she gives us an entertaining family as secondary characters to add a little fun to the story.
Since making romantic comedies her main jam, author Emma Hart is absolutely killing it. Smart and spunky heroines with plenty of sass, smart, sexy, and inevitably long-suffering heroes, and storylines that leave me highly entertained, there is nothing not to love about these books. FOUR DAY FLING, the latest from Emma, is a riot, a sexy, funny, steamy read that hooked me from the very first page.
The thing that makes this story so delicious, I think, is that Poppy shares a lot of personality with her creator. This is someone that I would love to spend time with, because I know, without a doubt, that she’d have me laughing about 95 percent of the time. Poppy wears her individuality well, and it’s laugh-out-loud funny to read about her shenanigans.
I absolutely adore Adam, too. I mean, brains, hot as all get-out, and a trophied hockey player to boot? Sign me up. And, incidentally, I’m with Poppy, and would probably have had no earthly idea who this man was. All the better to get to know the real him, right?
FOUR DAY FLING made my week, and is an easy 4.5 star read for me. If you’re looking for a book that will leave you smiling, this is it, so grab your copy and enjoy.
5 The Best One Night Stand Ever Stars!!!
Poppy and Adam are completely different people on every level that you can imagine. She’s very much a free spirit and doesn’t fit into the box her family wants her to be in which results in some of the best scenes of the book. There were moments that I was snort laughing thanks to the comedic timing that Ms. Hart is so very good at.
I love the fact that Poppy didn’t know who Adam was. Their one night together is simply because their draw to each other is undeniable and it was simply one of passion and sex that both were looking for and boy did they get it and so much more…say like four days with her family for the wedding she’s dreading attending!
The fact that her family is a huge fan of Adam and Poppy’s reaction was awesome!! I loved how Poppy is who she really is around her family with Adam with her. She seems to have gained some confidence having this man with her and while I find it a little heartbreaking that she needed him to exert her confidence of who she really is, I also loved how Adam gave her the confidence she needed to make her family accept her for who she is.
And oh the laughs…let’s just say that there were times I was snort laughing. And this came at just the right time because I had just finished a book that had me in tears.
What I know is that Ms. Hart can write a rom-com that is cute, adorable, has a little bit of heartbreak, sizzling chemistry between the H/h and an overall great story. I’ll read any and all books she produces.
I completely adore Emma Hart’s writing, and Four Day Fling held up to those awesome standards! It drew me in from the start, and kept me drawn in with a feisty, fiery heroine and a sexy, fun hero.
Poppy is awesome. She’s got this personality that makes you want to be her bestie, and definitely know you will have a hard time controlling her mouth when out living it up. Adam is PERFECT for her! He’s fun, doesn’t take her too seriously, and has the best antagonizing her.
A well written story that will have you LOLing throughout, that I would definitely recommend!!
I absolutely loved Four day fling. You will get a witty and hilarious rom-com. We meet Adam and Poppy in this story. Loved the characters. Loved the craziness that is the Grandpa in this story. This is such a unique book. At least i have never read a book like this. Fake relationships with realmfeeling lead to confusion. Poppy is such a wise butt of a character that you can’t help but love her. Adam being a famous hockey player that Poppy did not recognize leads to a hilarious encounter with her hockey loving family. I definitely recommend this book and give it a 5 star rating. I kinda wish we could get the story of what happened after this book.
I absolutely loved this book!!! It was so hilarious and awkward and cute and did I mention hilarious!!! I am in love with Poppy like she is just so me it isn’t even funny besides the red hair!!! I love how she just doesn’t get a sh$t what anyone thinks of her. She says what she thinks but she’s so awkward it’s not even funny(but it is). Adam is so adorable and charming and a hero. And he really helps Poppy out of a jam. But of course he gets something out of it too, I mean he is a guy after all. But when the fake starts feeling real what happens? I won’t lie I had a couple moments where I couldn’t see the screen from a little leakage in my eyes. But overall this book will have you on your a$$ with all the drama that this family can throw out!! I absolutely loved it and I am already planning a reread! – By Tina
Sometimes you just need a romantic comedy to refresh your reading slump. Four Day Fling is filled with one awkward heroine, a dashing hero, and some epically hilarious mishaps.
One night stands are supposed to be fun and fleeting; no permanence. But Poppy Wales yo contemplating her beau’s opinion on coming to her sisters wedding…her FOUR DAY wedding. A feat for any couple, I knew it was going to be a fun ride when Adam agrees with a charm and a smile. One big problem the minute he arrives: he’s a famous hockey player and Poppy had no idea she brought an all star in to her hockey loving family’s biggest event.
Now after they have to perpetuate the lie of being a couple, Poppy and Adam are continuously posed with situations where Poppy’s controlling (and downright scary-crazy) mother could catch their lie and write Poppy off. I loved that Adam was quick on his feet at every turn and Poppy’s dads and quick wit bounced right off his. These two WORK. They are so balanced for one another.
Hart impresses with each new romance she releases for fun and delightful heroines who, while fumbling through life, still have independence and fiery disposition. Her heroes are steadfast and steamy. And together these couples are combustible and ignite every page with life, love, and of course laughter. Grab yourself a copy to see if this four day fling could turn into forever…
Wow, I love Emma Hart’s books and she always makes me laugh, but this goes above and beyond, this one was Emma at her RomCom best, this was a fantastic read that left me with a smile on my face for the whole day and several times my sides were hurting I was laughing that much – the Summer must read!!
Poppy has been told in no uncertain terms by her family, mainly her mother, that she must come to her sister’s wedding with a boyfriend. The one night stand she has just had is still asleep in the bed as she turns the thought over in her head to just ask him to be her fake date for the 4 day weekend coming up, she knows they have chemistry after last night but other than that knows nothing about him, and can’t even remember his name.
Adam, as it turns out, has a free weekend and agrees to be her date, knowing at least the sex will be hot!! But he doesn’t realize just what he has let himself in for. Poppy’s family is just crazy!!! Penny’s sister is going to turn into Bridezilla if her interfering mother doesn’t but out. Penny’s mother drives her nuts at the best of times!!
Penny is a fiery red head, but the queen of klutz and awkwardness. She’s not a people person and tends to warn people off with her t shirt slogans! Adam turns out to be patient and caring and the perfect date for her, but can’t understand when she introduces him as her boyfriend to the family why they all go nuts and recognize him, she should have paid more attention to the sports programs!!
A fantastic read that had me chuckling along whilst turning the pages, I couldn’t put it down, I was invested in their story. Full of humor, low on angst with an array of wonderful and colorful characters with a brilliant story line that will keep you entertained from start to finish. The perfect summer read!!
I have a lots of my „firsts time” lately 😉 I didn’t know Emma’s books. Of course I saw her books here or there but I never had opportunity to read them – that’s why Four Day Fling is my first Emma’s book.
Four Days Fling was so much funny for me. The book have everything, what I like in rom –com.
Specially because :
– sexy hockey player √
– crazy grill with big heart √
– a couple… I mean a lots of steamy moments… √
You can be sure… This book will succssefully sucks You in 😉 but be warned, dont’t read it in public places… maybe You won’t manage reading it without laughing hard.
Our sexy crazy girl is named Poppy. She gave me a lot of fun. It’s just imposible to not like her. In all this madness, it can be seen that she also have golden heart.
And then Adam-sexy-hockey-player appear …. Oh definetly, they are worth each other.
Where Poppy is crazy, Adam try to calm her down. Where Adam is tough, Poppy can be very soft.
Their chemistry is overwhelming for sure.
Why I like this book so much?
Because I love to read about crazy grils just like Poppy is, because she and Adam was such a great fun. Four Day Fling is perfectly rom-com form me. You can laugh, but in some moments You might cry. For sure this adventure with Emma is worth Your time.
This might be one of my favorite Emma Hart characters/families EVER!! Think like the Bond family from Emma’s Holly Woods Files series. The Dunn family, Poppy in particular, is hilariously crazy and amazingly cool!! Her snark is what I aspire to be. I can be a smartass but Poppy definitely has the market cornered. And I admire her so much! She’s who I want to be when I grow up.
And Adam! I loved him! He truly appreciated Poppy and her insanity and called her out on it. And at times, even out-snarks her. I love them for each other!
This is a book I recommended to my awesome book bestie and told her she’d love it. I constantly found myself laughing at work – thank goodness my coworkers are used to my random laughing in my cubicle. I will definitely re-read this one when I need a laugh and an escape from the world.
Get ready to laugh out loud with this fake boyfriend rom-com. Poppy was freaking hilarious from beginning to end and a fun heroine to read. Adam was such a good sport and not what Poppy expected. It was a fun quirky read with crazy family members, lol. It was a refreshing read and one I recommend when you need a good pick me upper.
The funniest was their meeting and how their fake relationship came about. Poppy has no filter and is so awkward majority of the times it’s funny. Adam was calm cool and collected despite his popularity. He and Poppy were the perfect balance.

My family is insane. Poppy’s family makes mine look normal. This in itself is impressive.
So, when she has an amazing night with Adam, it’s a no-brainer that she thinks it would be easier for other one night stand to pretend to be her boyfriend than it would be to attend her sister’s wedding without a date. Yes, really, staring at her sleeping one night stand is a good idea in comparison.
And, it turns out, even though there are some hurdles along the way, that inviting her one night stand to be her boyfriend is the best of all possible good ideas. They work. And, before long, it is clear that Poppy and Adam are no longer pretending, but they have the real thing.
But, their lives are complicated. Impressively, a little more complicated than pretending to be together. Watching them, and laughing (with and at them) work this all out and figure out a way to be together is a lot of fun.
Trust me, you will laugh your way through this book…and then you just might call your mom as all of a sudden her quirks don’t seem all that bad.
I laughed, I loved this book, and I recommend it.
A fake-boyfriend, a crazy family and one weekend wedding party. Four Day Fling is laughter-overload.
Characters:
I fell in love with the characters. Poppy was just hilarious, starting from the very beginning, down to the very end. She’s a nice girl, but her family just makes her do crazy things such as asking her one-night stand to be her fake boyfriend for the wedding.
Adam – he’s really gracious. And he’s a man: he’s posing as a fiance so might as well get something amazing out of it such as mind blowing sex. Nevertheless, he was really great in being true to his word and helping Poppy. Being a famous hockey player really didn’t help when it got Poppy into a deeper trouble.
Them together: The attraction and the chemistry was already in there the moment they met and the first time they slept together. Being ‘fake’ is totally effortless between the two of them. I just adore Adam’s persuasiveness and being able to handle Poppy’s stubbornness.
Poppy’s family: OMG. I couldn’t even describe! They’re a bit crazy with some quirks, but they love Poppy. And they’re one of the best things in this book.
Plot: It’s a familiar cliche, but Emma Hart brings something different that would make this one stand out of the usual.
Overall: The storyline is fun and entertaining, with romance that will make your hearts kick. Four Day Fling is a perfect summer read.
This one was totally different than what I’m used to from this author, so I think that’s why I read it in one sitting!! I just couldn’t put it down! I identified myself with the heroine a lot because of her issues with her family! totally worth the read!
Poppy Dunn is definitely my favorite kind of heroine because she embraces her awkwardness and her sassiness, and she isn’t afraid to be who she is and say what she feels regardless of who she might offend. In my opinion, Poppy is most women’s snarky and inappropriate inner self – the one who they would love to bring out into the open but can’t for fear of how other people will react and/or how they will be perceived.
Between her hilarious graphic tees with funny and sarcastic sayings and how freely Poppy is with her mouth, she’s truly a genuine person and while she may seem like a hot mess most of the time, she holds things together more than she thinks and proves to be a breath of albeit smartass air.
Poppy and Adam’s story, Four Day Fling, opens up with another awkward moment in the life of Poppy Dunn, but the morning after what was meant to be a one-night stand proves to be the start of a beautiful four-day fake relationship, well except for the off-the-charts sex, but in true Poppy fashion, the reality of who she asked to be her fake boyfriend remains unknown to her until her hockey fanatic family lets her in on who her one-night stand/four day bedmate/fake boyfriend and it’s none other than Adam Winters, star forward for the Orlando Storms, making things even more awkward and way more complicated than Poppy could have anticipated.
Being a professional athlete is definitely not conducive for being in any kind of romantic relationship, which means that Adam Winters is all for one and done connections, but for some reason, he accepts Poppy’s offer of hot sex in exchange for posing as her boyfriend to prevent her mother from judging her even more than she already does.
Poppy’s crazy family is a huge part of the story line and they are responsible for an array of funny antics, inappropriate discussions, and nitpicking comments that threaten to make Poppy’s sister ‘bridezilla,’ her grandfather even more crazy than he already was, and her mother in need of a Xanax or two in order to make her chill out and to keep her unaware of the reality of Poppy and Adam’s relationship.
Every time I read one of Emma Hart’s romantic comedies, I know I’m going to get a hilarious, somewhat awkward and definitely steamy read with a hero and heroine who have a stronger connection than they want to admit and a crew of supporting characters who add to the already established mischief and chaos created by the main characters.
I really enjoyed Poppy and Adam’s story and the fact that it was more than obvious just how real things were between them from the start, and as they attempt to make it through the four day wedding extravaganza what they need to figure out is if their fling can become a forever despite how it all began.
4 Poison Apples
Poppy Dunn has a complicated relationship with her family… to say the least. In an effort to placate her mother(zilla) during her sisters wedding festivities she decides to invite an almost stranger to be her date. Sounds like a solid plan… right?
Adam Winters is used to women falling all over for him due to his career choice. But he finds Poppy is completely unaffected by his money, status and minor celebrity. Mostly because she has no idea who he is. Agreeing to be her date for the wedding is a no-brainer, as long as he gets to see her again, he will agree to almost anything…
With Poppy’s crazy family and Adam’s busy life, these two only have to worry about getting through four days of pretend dating… but, when a fake relationship develops real feelings, will they ever be more than just a fling?
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
This was a really great read! With an unconventional heroine and a hero who lives and breathes hockey, when these two are pushed out of their everyday element to spend some stressful and hilarious time together, will their attraction be a recipe for forever?
I loved Poppy! Sassy and straightforward, she is the antagonist in her family… but also the force who keeps them from all killing each other. When the one night stand she has with Adam has her contemplating inviting him to the wedding, she does everything she can to talk herself out of it. But, a handsome buffer like him would be a great distraction… for everyone.
Adam was a hilariously self assured man who lives for his career and hasn’t yet found many women who want him for anything more than his success. Poppy is a refreshing change he isn’t prepared to let get away so easily, and four days on the beach with her sounds like the perfect plan.
Sassy, sexy, thoroughly awkward, and with a classic case of opposites attract, Four Day Fling was a hilarious and entertaining jaunt that you will not want to miss.
I received a complimentary copy of this book for my honest and unbiased review.
Looking for a quick, fun, flirty, sexy read? Check out Four Day Fling! Trust me, you’re going to love the wild and crazy antics of Poppy and Adam when things get a little too real in this rom com!
I loved how blissfully oblivious Poppy is toward Adam and his “celebrity” status. And most hysterically that her entire family is not! Seriously, cracked up over that little reveal and so many others in this story.
I loved Poppy and her sarcasm and snark. She didn’t filter herself—at all! Even when it came to her t-shirts (err, many of which I’d like to own myself). Poppy truly didn’t care, and her honesty was so refreshing. And Adam. There’s not one thing NOT to like about the man. He’s a perfect match to Poppy’s wit and humor, and definitely holds his own up against the rising tide of crazy that is Poppy’s family. Oh, and let’s discuss just how hot and sexy AF these two are together in and out of the bedroom. *fans self*
Their romance developed quickly and was nothing that either was expecting or looking for, but man was it fun watching it develop. Over all I really enjoyed Four Day Fling, and I did feel like the ending was a bit rushed, but I did truly enjoy their HEA!
Some kisses were fairytale ones. Heart-thumping, foot-popping, soul-sighing kisses. I’d always imagined mine would be on a first date or under a sunset after the “L” word. But, no. My fairytale kiss, my heart-thumping, foot-popping, soul-sighing kiss was standing in a parking lot next to a car full of three hundred dollars’ worth of strawberries, with a guy who was kissing me to shut my smartass mouth up.
This story was like the perfect blend of awkward & clumsy situations, family dysfunction, and hilarity. Now, I know you imagined you were walking into a love story here, but this was so much more than that — it was a romantic comedy of epic proportions.
The Characters
Poppy. This girl! I see so much of myself in her, okay .. mostly the clumsy parts. Poppy is not afraid to say whatever she’s thinking, she’s always got something clever to say, is OBSESSED with snarky graphic tees, and seems to be the “doctor” of awkward. At every turn it seems she said or did something to make me shake my head or laugh out loud. She is one of the funniest female characters!
Adam. Holy hotness. This man is not only all the good things you’d want in a partner, he also draws the eye of any female within sight. “Red. Pay attention.” Adam clapped his hands sharply. “Oh my God, if you want me to focus, get ugly or something!” This man, though, seemed to have the patience of a saint dealing with Poppy and her family. This man is definitely #goals when seeking out my future man.
Poppy’s family & friends. OH MYLANTA! I’m not sure I could survive in a family like this one! I’ve never seen such a huge batch of crazy all in one place. Some of my favorite moments were with these people.
The Story
The basis of this story is one night stands turns into wedding date. This would probably be okay if you weren’t spending four days in the constant company of your family only knowing the first name of your “boyfriend” and what he looks like without clothes. This dynamic makes some awkward moments even more awkward and leads to some hilariously confusing situations.
The love story here was good. I loved that not everything came together easily and that both of these characters were too stubborn to just try things out. Eventually it takes some interesting plots and secret maneuvering to finally get these two past their stubbornness.
“I told you I’d slow down if I found the person worth slowing down for.”
I nodded again.
“I’d already found her,” he said softly. “She’s you.”
*cue swoon*
