A standalone romantic comedy of epically awkward proportions, from New York Times bestselling author, Emma Hart.Imagine this. You’re ready to leave after a one-night stand, and you’re figuring out how to—shock horror—leave your number and ask him to be your fake boyfriend for your sister’s wedding this weekend. When he wakes up.Well, that happened to me. And over coffee and omelets, I found myself … omelets, I found myself a date.
Which was how I ended up arriving at the wedding with a guy I knew nothing about.
I didn’t know his last name, or how we met, or how long we’d been dating. I didn’t know where he grew up, what he’d majored in in college, or how many siblings he had.
I sure as hell didn’t know he was Adam Winters, hotshot hockey player—and not only my father’s favorite player, but my little nephew’s freakin’ idol.
Which means I’m in trouble. Big, big trouble.
My mother is suspicious, my sister is bridezilla on crack, and my grandpa will tell anyone who’ll listen about his time in Amsterdam’s Red Light District.
Four days.
I have to keep this up for four days, and then Adam and I can return to our regular lives, where we don’t have sex whenever we’re alone and my family aren’t interrogating him over his intentions with me.
At least, that’s the plan.
And we all know what happens to those.

4.5 Stars – This is definitely my favorite Emma Hart book so far – be prepared to crack up a bit!
Poppy Dunn knows that if she comes to her sister Rosie’s wedding without a date she will never hear the end of it – from her mother. So, to avoid that issue, she asks her one-night stand to accompany her in Key West for four days and be her “fake” boyfriend. These two know absolutely nothing about one another, not even last names. Poppy has no idea that her pretend date is Adam Winters, the star hockey player for the Orlando Storms. She didn’t know and he didn’t tell her. He actually finds it comforting that she isn’t hanging all over him like those other women and he can just be himself. So, together they came up with a plan on how this would work and how they would fool her whole family into thinking they were a real couple. Would it work? They certainly learn a lot about each other during those four days. The family and friend interactions are hilarious and the chemistry between Poppy and Adam is perfect. Nice job Emma!

This book is going to go down as one of my all time favorites, and has totally given me a new author to love and read as many books as I can find from her. First off, Adam was not only hot, he was hilarious! The way he could put up with Poppy’s sarcasm, take it in stride and throw it right back! My perfect kind of guy. Something I love in romances is when I can relate to the main character, and I related so much to Poppy! Her snarkiness, her t-shirts, everything about her screamed me! Except for the red hair I guess, although I always wished I had red hair, and even have paid to have it at times in my life. I loved her lack of knowledge about sports, to the point that she didn’t even realize who the hot guy she met was until her family recognized him. I could see that happening to me in a situation like this.
I got my copy of this to read while I was at Book Bonanza in Denver, and I started reading it in line. I didn’t want to carry an extra book around to all the signings, so I just started reading this on my phone. It was so good I was seriously laughing out loud while I was sitting in line waiting to get in to the signing. And then I was reading it again during lunch that day, and I was sitting in the restaurant, by myself, laughing out loud.
Of course it has the usual part where the main character, Poppy, is just sure there is no way things are as perfect as they seem, that he couldn’t possibly really like her, and that there is no way they could go anywhere in a relationship afterwards. I love that her best friend in the story calls her out on this, telling her what is happening is just like in the romance books they read. Um, YES!!!! I love that they actually call attention to the fact of what it is.
The family was hilarious as well, all of them fit into the story perfectly and made it perfect. One of my top reads of the year, one of the funniest for sure!
This book is everything you want it’s funny it has great characters and it leaves you smiling like a Cheshire Cat all in all everything you expect from a Emma Hart novel.
A one night stand turns into a four day fling and that turns into so much more…..
Poppy is the type of heroine you can’t help loving she is a redhead with the character to match a real live firecracker and she has no filter on her mouth which makes her hilarious in the best possible way in other words you end up laughing with her and not at her……
Adam is the man we all want to fall into in love with he is a successful hockey star he is hot passionate and funny and all he wants is for someone to love him for him not the hockey star so when he meets Poppy and she has no idea who he is until they turn up at her sisters wedding he feels this could be so much more than just a fling…….
This book had me laughing out loud but it also had the perfect mix of romance and passion, it had characters who not only had sizzling chemistry they had depth and banter and you could not helping falling in love with them the only downside for me was I wanted more. Emma Hart is fast becoming the queen of romantic comedy and I can’t wait to see what’s next.
This book is absolutely hilarious! I laughed from start to finish and loved every minute of it. Adam is plenty swoon-worthy, and the perfect person for Poppy. He’s a down-to-earth guy who hasn’t let his success go to his head. Growing up with 4 sisters, he’s pretty well-versed when it comes to female behavior. Although there some times when Poppy was so over-the-top he seemed overwhelmed, but not in a negative way.
What can I say about Poppy? She’s a trip (with luggage), with no filter and full of snark and sassiness; but again, not in a negative way. She might call it self-preservation, readers might call her a hot mess. But somehow Adam had her pegged about her character after only a couple of days. And her family are almost as funny, with the exception of her mother (that woman is on a level all by herself).
The chemistry between Adam and Poppy is electric right from the start and doesn’t fade, and I liked how the subsequent meeting that took place some weeks after the wedding played out.
Four Day Fling is my very first book by Emma Hart. I chose this book because I thought it looked like it was going to be a lot of fun with a sexy romance at the same time and yes, this did definitely ring true. But, I might have learned with this one that there is such a thing as too much sarcasm or snark. At times it distracted me from the story. As I got to know the main characters, I realized that Poppy uses the sarcasm as a sort of shield but still, for me it was a bit too much.
Poppy is twenty four years old and after college hasn’t figured out what she wants to do with her life yet. She is sharing an apartment with her best friend, Avery, and working as a waitress in Orlando, Florida. Poppy’s sister is getting married down in the Keys at a huge four day affair and has been told that she absolutely has to bring a date. After a one night stand with a gorgeous man that she knows nothing about, she decides to invite him as her fake boyfriend to the wedding, and surprisingly enough, he accepts.
Poppy is a flaming red-head who loves wearing snarky tshirts to aggravate her mother. Poppy considers herself clumsy and antisocial. As you get to know her, you see that she kind of uses her sarcasm as a kind of shield, that there is a softhearted woman in there. She dreads spending this time with her family but when you really see her in action, she kind of holds the whole thing together. She doesn’t seem to recognize her own value at all and I did love that about her.
Adam Winters is a rich, famous, hockey star. He can’t go anywhere without women throwing themselves at him, wanting to be close to him because of who he is. When he met Poppy in the bar, she had no idea who he was. She was the first woman that was attracted to him just for him. After their wild night together, when she asked him to spend the weekend at her sister’s wedding, he thought, why not. He liked spending time with her and thought it would be fun and some more guaranteed sex. The more time they spent together, though, the more he saw the parts of her she kept hidden. She made him laugh. Somewhere during those four days, his attraction to Poppy started to feel very real.
Poppy and Adam had agreed to a four day fling. Each day that passed, each kiss they exchanged, it began to feel more like a real relationship. Poppy knew, though, that a relationship with a professional athlete who is on the road more than he is home, was not something that she could handle. That when their four days was over, she had to go home alone. That four days was all they could have together.
I did enjoy this book. As I said above, it was fun and sexy and had some really sweet moments. I loved the ending. Well, I loved the ending AND the epilogue. And even though I understood Poppy, as I said before, I just felt a little bit overwhelmed with all of the snarky banter. At times, I even had to go back and re-read a sentence or two. I would think, wait, what? It took away from the romance just a bit. This is definitely an author, though, that I want to keep my eye on and see what she comes up with next as well as look through some of her previous books.
Final Score – 5 Stars!
I thoroughly enjoyed Poppy and Adam’s adventures in Wedding Preparation! Their banter from beginning to end was hysterical to read. I had many LOL moments – so much so I became hoarse from all the laughter.
I feel as if Poppy is my soul sister, separated at birth. Her quick and dizzying whit at times had my head spinning – in a good way – but I completely understood her. Her awkwardness and clumsiness were also characteristics I could relate to, so my connection to her was immediate. Adam, however, was a slow burn for me. At times I wondered why he had agreed to attend her sister’s wedding – just what exactly was his motivation? The more I read, I realized that he was a lonely soul and just wanted the vibrancy of Poppy’s personality to light up his otherwise dull life.
From a one night stand to Poppy’s functionality family, FOUR DAY FLING is just simply the book to read to get out of one’s heads-space and just let go and enjoy oneself. This book is unlike anything I’ve read in quite some time and I simple adore Emma Hart’s cast of characters. Hilarious dialogue, extreme chemistry, sexy times galore, and a budding relationship that was never supposed to last – but some how manages to form, this rom-comedy is definitely a page turner and a must read.
Such a hilarious and fun read! This book is filled with humour and great outtakes, as a seemingly unlucky lady battles her way through the 4 day wedding from hell. It all starts with needing a date to appease her unruly mother and finishes with a stubborn woman trying to fight what life has in store for her.
The story is filled with lots of funny moments, embarrassing times, sexy encounters and a man so hot she can’t seem to help but melt into his arms like butter. When you throw that together with the hodge lodge, difficult family she has, this story is really chaos, a clever blend of chaos called life and it is brilliant. You are definitely never left feeling bored, and I loved that.
The character are lovely. I really felt the two main characters Hart created for us complimented each other, and really rounded out the cast, of the book. The family had a brilliant blend of crazy and overbearing, which was perfect, as they were all very different, but all had a similar effect on our leading lady.
The pace was great, as it moved swiftly, to perfectly match the pace of what would happen at a wedding and in life. It definitely made the story more real and believable, which meant the pages flew by and I read it without ever wanting to put it down.
Overall, a brilliant story and one I highly recommend, especially if you love hilarious reads about hotties and ladies who are stubborn, hot-messes and get the ride of their life. 😉
Poppy Dunn, queen of all things awkward and lover of sarcasm and snarky t-shirts needs a date to her sister’s wedding. Caught staring at her one night stand as he was laying in bed sleeping, she decides to out her awkwardness even more by asking if he’ll be her fake boyfriend for the four day wedding festivities. No one could have been more shocked than Poppy when the incredibly sexy Adam says yes.
Adam Winters really isn’t sure why he agrees to be a fake boyfriend, but there is just something about the sassy and sarcastic redhead that has him intrigued. Especially since she has no idea who he really is. Of course, the rest of her hockey loving family finds him instantly recognizable the moment Poppy introduces him as her date.
With wedding festivities in full swing, Poppy and Adam will need to keep up their charade in order to fool Poppy’s extremely suspicious and incredibly cunning mother as well as the rest of her family including her bridezilla sister, her flask hiding & whiskey drinking father and her grandpa that tells inappropriate stories to anyone that will listen . . . all while remembering this is just a four day fling!
I’ve been a fan of Emma Hart’s romantic comedies for a while now, but Four Day Fling is my absolute favorite to date. Honestly, this book is comedic gold on so many levels and is laugh out loud funny.
When Poppy says she’s awkward, she isn’t kidding. And, it doesn’t help that she has a love for inappropriate and snarky t-shirts and always speaks her mind, often saying whatever sarcastic thought that pops in their without first thinking it through. While her sarcasm shines, we also see that hidden beneath her snark is someone that really loves her family and wants her sister to have a fabulous wedding. She’s also incredibly comfortable with Adam from the get go allowing her true self , other than her real feelings about him, out in the open for him to see.
Adam is perfect boyfriend material. He’s sexy and attentive and even knows how to charm Poppy’s family. He’s also witty and matches Poppy’s personality and sarcasm perfectly. Honestly, this book has some of the best banter between a couple I have ever read! Adam’s also a genuinely good guy who takes time to talk to his fans, support those he cares about and has a hidden romantic streak.
Amidst the comedy of this book is a super hot romance between Poppy and Adam. Their attraction levels are off the charts and instantaneous. It’s easy for everyone other than Poppy and Adam to see they are meant to be much more than a fling. Neither wants to fall, but it simply happens. Now, they just need to admit that to each other.
I’ve got nothing but love and happiness for this book as it left with all the feels, even as I giggled and looked up snarky t-shirts on the web and was reminded about all of my own quirky relatives and awkward family events. 5 stars!
I received a copy and voluntarily left a review and all opinions are my own.
I couldn’t wait to step into another one of Emma Hart’s amazing and snarky romances and see where she would take us this time. Soon Emma had us wrapped up in the drama between Poppy, her one night stand/fake boyfriend and her whacky family during wedding festivities down in Key West Florida. Among the sand and sun, I was left in tears of laughter by the Dunne family and turning pages quick enough to cause whiplash just to see what outrageous antics would come next. Not to mention the scorching heat between Poppy and Adam that is all consuming.
Poppy Dunne is a red headed force to be reckoned with. You soon find out that she is the glue that keeps her crazy family together and somewhat sane and you fall more in love with this sarcastic heroine who is fierce in everything that she does.
Adam Winters who Poppy affectionately calls “hockey boy” is all kinds of funny wrapped in gorgeousness and absolutely impossible to resist. I fell just as hard as Poppy’s family did for his charm. The witty repertoire between Adam and Poppy kept me in stitches and begging for more. More of their sexy innuendos, more of their creative ways of dealing with her family…just more of everything that they personified!
Emma Hart delivers another story full of family shenanigans to go right along with the steam she creates between her hero and heroine. I highly recommend Four Day Fling for a destination wedding and whirlwind romance that will keep you laughing long into the night. Emma never fails to bring the laughter and warmth in every story that she pens and leave you breathlessly waiting for more of her characters and the fun that surrounds them.
I loved this book. It was funny, sexy and a great ride. I definitely recommend this book and this author.

Four Day Fling is a sweet, funny and flirty light romance, the perfect read to get lost in on a lazy afternoon. As the title implies most of the action takes place over a four day period. The premise of inviting a stranger, who you had a one night stand with, to your sister’s wedding in a desperate move to avoid your mother’s wrath by going solo, is a funny one. The story is told in alternating POV and the banter these two share is hilarious. Adam is amused and gets Poppy’s sarcastic and snarky sense of humor; she uses it to deflect her mother’s attention. As they’re reminding each other that they’re having a fake relationship, with an expiration date, they seem to be only fooling themselves. Come find out what all the fun is about!
Poppy Dunn invites the handsome man she just met, and spent the night with, to be her plus-one at her sister’s wedding. Desperate times call for desperate measures; she knows her mother expects Poppy to bring a date. She’d rather pretend to be in a fake relationship, with a stranger, than hear about it for the rest of her life. The woman is a force to be reckoned with and Poppy would rather not have to deal with all the drama. Imagine her surprise when she finds out her “fake boyfriend” is a famous Hockey player, someone her entire family is a fan of. It figures, only she’d invite a professional sports player, since Poppy doesn’t like or know anything about sports.
“On paper, Poppy Dunn was nothing more than a beautiful stranger. In reality, Poppy Dunn was a walking daydream with the allure of the devil.”
Adam Winters takes Poppy up on her invitation, partly because he’s amused she has no clue who he is, or how famous he is. Plus he has four sisters and understands the jam she’s in. He needs to keep reminding himself they’re going to go their separate way at the end of the weekend. What Adam doesn’t count on is how attracted he is to her and how much fun he’s having being Poppy’s fake boyfriend. Especially since she, and her family, makes him laugh and enjoy being himself.
“I never claimed I wasn’t sarcastic myself. Actually, I think you bring it out in me. Is it infectious?”
“No, It’s a language for smart people. It’s how we confuse the idiots.”
Another absolutely hilarious book that was full of quirks and real life. I love the writing style the author has it makes the story feel realistic. This book has a great premise and the humor (and heat ) created for a great little escape from life. I love the characters and felt they had the perfect amount of depth to them to make them easy to relate to
I recently bought a new t-shirt with the quote “Classy, Sassy and a bit smartassy” – that describes how I Think of this book perfectly!
Emma Hart is the Queen of snarky, funny book moments and that is why I love picking up her books – because they are sure to make me smile and often laugh out loud.
Her books are always well written and with a plot that is workrider through in details maling it all happen smoothly and without big bumps in the reading.
If you need a good laugh, a by-the-side-of-the-pool-summer-book then look no further – this is the one.

Four Day Fling by Emma Hart is the all new hilarious stand-alone that had me dying of laughter! I swear with every new book of hers I am in awe of her talent to make me laugh out loud. Four Day Fling was well written and the characters banter was epic! It flowed well and was highly addicting!
Poppy and Adam have an incredible one night stand. But when the sun rises and neither know the others name it gets a little awkward and a whole lot funny. See Poppy needs a date for her sister’s wedding and when she asks Adam to be her date she was not expecting him to say yes. What happens though when what was supposed to be a four day fling turns turns into more and feelings become real?
Oh my gosh!!!!! I just can’t even put into words how much I needed this book right now! Emma Hart never fails to deliver! I adored Poppy. Her quick witted responses and epic one liners had me smiling from ear to ear the entire time. And Adam…he was absolutely a perfect match for her. If you’re looking for a light hearted pee-your-pants-funny type of book you do not want to miss this one!
Four Day Fling by Emma Hart is a hilarious, snarky standalone contemporary romance told with the signature wit and sass I have come to expect (and hope for) in Emma’s heroines. The girls are never perfect but they are always funny and so very real. Well-paced and well-written (as always) this story of Poppy and Adam was just one calamitous riot of laughs after another.
Poppy needs a date for her sister’s wedding before satan (aka her mom) finishes her off for good. When she summons up the sheer bravado (and stupidity) to ask her one-night stand she can’t believe that 1) he agreed and that 2) she didn’t nip it in the bud before the four day wedding extravaganza in the Florida Keys. Luckily he is a great partner in crime and it really isn’t too hard to act like they’re a couple but that is another problem all on its own…
Adam agrees to this quirky red-heads request to be her fake boyfriend at her sisters wedding but truly does not expect the sheer cluster of snark and sass that is not just Poppy but also her mom, her sister, even her geriatric grandpa. But he isn’t disappointed because this is the most fun he has had in a long while and it is so easy to pretend the relationship because, just maybe, there could be more happening than either of them realize. Especially when she has no idea of his fame in the professional hockey world and clearly isn’t after him for his status and wealth which by itself is wholly refreshing.
Loved this so hard – Anything from Emma Hart is a must-read for me and has been for a few years now. Enjoy!
Four Day Fling is a LAUGH Out Loud read guaranteed!
It was a great story packed with lots of sexy and funny moments!!
Poppy aka Red woke up from her one night stand and could not stop looking at the Adonis sleeping next to her! Their first interaction was awkward and sexy at the same time. Poppy has to go to her perfect sister’s wedding but she cannot go there alone… her mom is The Demon Queen!
“My mother was like a bloodhound. She could sniff out the tiniest lie if you didn’t cover your tracks adequately enough.”
Adam agreed to meet her in Key West and stay for the four days celebrations. You wonder if Adam is sane or aware of what he signed up for ? Well , Adam has four sisters so that’s an asset. Why? Because he knows how to deal with Poppy perfectly . Poppy is my kind of heroine- she has no filter- she is sassy, fierce and funny!
Adam is just perfect!!
The scene when Poppy introduces him to her family was priceless…
Four Fling is another hilarious hit by Emma Hart!
Ps- I want Poppy’s t-shirt’s collection

Oh, how I loved Four Day Fling. There were so many pieces of this story that I just couldn’t help but love and want to keep reading. In the usual fashion of the author, you laugh out loud so many different times that you just can’t help but laugh.
Poppy has to be one of my favorite characters to date. Her snark is out of control and you can’t help but laugh out loud at them. There are so many pieces of her personality that have you laughing out loud and trying to figure out how she has survived as long as she has. There are aspects of her family that had me dying because it reminded me of my own family at times. But it made the story that much better.
Poppy’s snark towards Adam, reminded me of myself at times. I think it’s why I loved her even more than I should have. Watching these together was absolutely the perfect story for when I read it. I full on loved them together.
Everything about the story was so good. I can’t wait to get my hands on another book by this author since she’s one of my favorite go to’s.
The queen of romantic comedy has struck again. This book is side-splitting funny with the perfect combination of sweet and sexy. It is everything I look for in a romcom book.
It is well written, the characters are real, the awkwardness is hilarious and the story is just amazing. I could see some of the situations happening to me. Oh, and the t-shirts and tank tops, I need to own all of them!!
Poppy is just nothing but a ball of sarcastic, awkward cuteness. Some of the things that come out of her mouth had me laughing so hard I was crying. She is definitely someone that would be my best friend in real life. Her relationship with her family is unique. She sees herself as the black sheep but when it comes down to it, she is really the heart of her family. There are layers to her and I enjoyed watching those layers be peeled back. Her chemistry with Adam was off the charts.
Adam is a fun guy who was able to fit right in with Poppy’s family. He took all their craziness in stride. Watching him fall for Poppy was great. Their banter was so funny. Poppy just brought out the sarcasm in everyone. I loved that he was as smitten with Poppy as she was with him.
This book is the perfect, hilarious, fun read.

Oh my gosh this book had me giggling like crazy! It was so hilarious, awkward, sweet, funny, and sexy. I was hooked from the very first line and did everything I could to read while trying to “adult” as well. Emma’s rom-coms just keep getting better and better! I hope they never stop! This was a classic fake date romance story line with unique twists and turns that are signature Hart!
Poppy and Adam were the perfect match! They compliment each other so well and their chemistry is off the charts! Poppy is full of spunk, sass, sarcasm, and with absolutely no filter, it takes a strong man to handle her. Adam is, EVERYTHING! He’s strong, charming, sweet, funny, and prepared to give it right back to Poppy when she needs it most. I absolutely loved these two together!
I’ve said it before, and I’ll say it again and again, one of the things I love the most about Emma’s books, are the secondary characters! They are always such a hoot! They add so much hilarity to the story but never distract from the main plot line. Each and everyone of them are someone we can connect with.
If you’re looking for a great summer romance, look no further. Grab a drink, head to the pool, and enjoy this perfect romantic combination of sass, heat, and hilarity!
Emma Hart never fails to entertain me with her stories. I read this story in one-sitting because the words flowed fluently and the story line was great. I would have to say it was a little predictable as to what was going to happen in the end but it didn’t bother me in the least. I would give this story a 4 stars and highly recommend to others.
Who knew a one night stand could turn into a four day fling that would make you want more and more. Poppy and Adam met in a bar… it was lust at the go… Poppy was looking for a fling and Adam the same but what they find themselves in is a whirlwind when Poppy asks Adam to come to her sister’s wedding on a whim…. what will happen when paradise ends and real life begins?
This book had it all.. hot steamy scenes, hilarious moments, and wonderful characters. Get to one clicking to see how this story unfolds you don’t want to miss it!
