This is a tremendous first in a series book. I have read it many times and love it each time I read it. It was the first of the Foundation Series but there is now a prequel novel and later on Isaac Asimov tied all of his series together so I always start with the first of the robot novels and work my way through that series first. I love them …
Isaac Asimov is an incredible offer who creates universes and worlds that you can believe exist. The foundation series is absolutely outstanding I highly recommend it to any and all science fiction readers
It’s the first book of the Foundation Trilogy…which then turned into a whole universe, w/ prequels and afterworks and side-threads (the I, Robot series of stories and novels). Just wonderful stuff.
When I was in high school I read the three part, Foundation, Foundation & Empire, & Second Foundation. I almost never read a book twice, but I am drawn to this series and the other books Asimov created to fill in the story. I am now retired and love every page. I may read again in my 80’s!
Absolutely my favorite book, have probably read it 50 times (along with the rest of the Foundation series) Most interesting is the things that Asimov created back in the 1940’s are coming true today. Half the Star Trek and Star Wars ideas started back then, along with the lingo. Great book!!
I first read this book about 40 years ago and it got me started on science fiction. The original trilogy I thought was excellent. The follow ons were a little uneven, but then…Asimov didn’t write them.
One of the great classics of science-fiction. What else need be said. It is one of these large scale tapestries of the future history of mankind which make some of the very best SciFi novels. The theme is the prevention of an evolution that would bring civilisation back to dark ages. But I read that fifty years ago.
This novel is a classic. Would highly recommend to any lovers of science fiction.
Early sci fi and the standard by which sci fi is judged. A beloved book from my young young adulthood.
This trilogy of sci-fi books explores humans living with robots in a really thought provoking way. With the internet and smart phones we could be living this in the not too distant future.
I’ve read and reread this book several times over the years and I always get something different from it. I don’t reread many books.
Hugo Award winner for the best Sci-Fi trilogy of all time!
the foundation series are my favorite books of all time. loved them all. used to own the whole series but now i can’t find them :'(
Been meaning to reread this series (trilogy +1) AND read the additional volumes by, I believe, Greg Bear.
Great classic. A must for all science fiction readers
90% dialog. At least it felt that way.
A masterful written novel by a true Science Fiction Master. Still timeless in its message.
Sci-fi is hard to recommend to people due to different tastes. I’ve read all the Foundation, Robots and Empire books. I enjoyed all of them and loved the tie -ins.
They’re quick and enjoyable.
Good book. It is an interesting idea for the new beginning for mankind. Starts a little slow. There are other related books that tie into this one.
This sci fi is a must read! It’s one of the best books I have read.
