This is the classic. This is the book that won my heart to SciFi. Need I say more? (OK, I love Asimov’s robot series too.)
long time ago, but I remember it was awesome. not a quick read fer me, but werth it. to the point that I read the series after. it’s one of those that if you don’t know, then you will want to. to the point that u might give everything with his name on it a chance. I grabbed up everything I could find with his name on it
Truly, one of the classics of science fiction. It’s a deeply thought-provoking start to an epic series (which later merged with other series). It’s science fiction that stands the test of time.
The “Foundation” series by Isaac Asimov is for me what others say about the “Dune” series.
Loved it!
Its Asimov; enough said.
My all time favorite book series. Very quick read, it is very much like an exercise in the social dynamics of the US. But whether the US is Trantor or Terminus is very open at this point.
Asimov’s Foundation is an incredible, sweeping look at the vast forces of civilization. These are books for the thinker. Great classic science fiction.
Phenomenal
A classic
This is the epitome of classic science fiction. The first chapter is disappointing and can be skipped without hurting the rest of the wonderful story. Asimov wrote two more novels in the original series, then decades later, a prequel and three more novels.
One of the best SF books I have read. In fact, it was the first SF book I read and got me started on the classics many years ago. The Foundation Trilogy even beat Lord of the Rings for a Best all Time Series Hugo.
First read this (and the rest of the trilogy) when I was a teenager, and I reread every few years (now including the rest of the series). Asimov does a great job of pulling everything together and keeping things interesting.
Many stories take on the persona of killing and explosions and violence whereas this one engages the reader on a more intellectual level yet is so captivating that I had a hard time putting it down.
Discover a Science Fiction classic from, yes, the early Forties. It’s hard science fiction written by a professor of Biochemistry, hence my tag ‘Realistic’ for a novel set far in the future, that revolves around a Galactic Empire which is self destructing after more than 10,000 years of unchallenged authority. Nobody breaks any laws of Physics but …
A wonderful science fiction book for those who generally avoid this genre
One of the greatest series I ever read. This is your starter.
An excellent read by a master of the genre. Worth the time to read it and it’s companions.
Reading Foundation I felt it took me a while to get into the character of Seldon and his hesitation on arriving at the planet Terminus. Hari Seldon finds a mentor in Salvor Hardin and from then on learns the mathematical calculation for probability of outcomes. What intrigued me most with this book was the literacy, which was indeed a magnificent …
The best of the best. Read it and it will change your perspective of the present.
