The first book in a classic series. If you have not read the Foundation series, you’ve got a great treat ahead of you. The twists and turns in this sage are outstanding.
IA is one of the most solid writers around. Every book is very good and this is worth it.
Read this when I was a teen. I read everything Asimov. Imaging living in the Ghetto and trying to find escape. It took me to far places.
It has this sense of entering one’s self while they read, with characters speaking reason and purpose like if they were voices of different opinions in your head. Characters to plot the course of the foundation – characters to love for their advancement of the plot.
You can see in the characters the marks of many historical figures and …
A most entertaining story. The whole series of Foundation books is a must read for anyone loving Science Fiction stories. Asimov is a gifted and well like author.
Reread a classic from my youth. Asimov was a great one, but the characters are a bit dated, now, e.g., everyone smokes in spaceships. Still, worth the read.
I kept reading about references to this series. From other authors and science-minded people on podcasts. This did not disappoint. Helluva trilogy. Super interesting and engaging. That Isaac, man, he can write!!
First of all, it’s by Isaac Asimov, so it is thoroughly plotted and realized. It’s easy to follow and you will become engrossed in the characters. Hari Seldon may be fictional but his system of psychohistory or mathematical sociology has become frighteningly real in today’s society. It is worth it to read the entire Foundation series, if only to …
A classic that has influenced every writer, every story line since. One of our recent political figures reminded me of The Mule.
Another author who produced nothing but classics in my opinion. I’ve read just about everything he wrote. And I’m in the process of re-reading them now, since I read most of his work when I was much younger. But Asimov is calling to me again, and I must answer the call … 🙂
A great read that proves, no matter how well designed, plans can be rent asunder by one random dude.
I loved reading this book so much I have read i t and the entire Foundation series twice.
I’m not much in to science fiction, but my teenage son insisted I read this book. I found it entertaining for sure. It gave me some interesting dreams as I usually read before bed.
This is the first book in Asimov’s Foundation Trilogy. True SF classics they should be on every SF fans must read list.
A science fiction classic, a must read by super forecasters
Read this years ago, one of the classics of the genre.
Classic science fiction. A must for all who love the genre.
One of the best Science Fiction books I have ever read. Also one of my first.
Read Foundation the first time 50 years ago in high school and enjoyed revisiting a great read.
This is the book that started Asimov’s entire Foundation series. Four of the five stories in the book were originally published in Astounding Science Fiction magazine between 1942 and 1944, and the writing reflects this kind of publishing. Still a great read, and a must for anyone who enjoys the classics!
