I’m a huge fan of S.R. Grey’s Boys of Winter series so I knew I had to read this one. I loved the characters in this one so much. They drew me right into the story. They had an instant connection that anyone could feel. This couple may started off as fake, but their connection creates all too real feelings. Too bad luck isn’t on their side when they face some trials when it comes to having any relationship. I can say I wasn’t a big fan of Graham’s new team’s big wigs. I enjoyed some cameos from the Boys of Winter books. Also love seeing those guys. I’m hooked on this series and can’t wait for the next book.
I really enjoyed this. I love sports romances so I was already looking forward to it. Fake girlfriend can go either way for me, I’ve loved some and found some too forced and far fetched. This one is definitely on the positive end, I like how they came together and the progression of their relationship.
Graham is a solid lead character, he made a mistake in the past and owns up to it. He’s working to better himself and is an all around good guy. Eden is working hard to support herself and her brother when an opportunity to make some good cash falls in her lap. There is great chemistry between these two. I was rooting for them.
Loved this new book by S.R. Grey! A romance bred out of a second chance at a career is a great premise. Graham and Eden are made for each other and I enjoyed seeing some that was supposed to be fake turn into something very real! Can’t wait for the next book!
Sometimes you just need a sweet, easy read, and Forward Progress is exactly what I was looking for!
Graham Tettersaw is trying to make his comeback. An injury sidelined the former star quarterback and put him on a track that not only ended his career but his image as well. Now he has an opportunity to play football for a new professional team, and remind the world how amazing he is. He’s got a new team and a new contract, which doesn’t only include playing football.
Eden is struggling to pay the bills and take care of her younger brother. So when an opportunity presents itself that could solve all her financial problems, she finds herself agreeing to be Graham’s fake girlfriend. But when they meet the sparks fly, and she realizes she might not have to pretend as much as she thought.
I loved these characters! S.R. Grey gave us a fun storyline, incredible chemistry, and witty banter. This was definitely different than other fake relationship stories I’ve read in the past, and I couldn’t put it down. I’m definitely excited to read the next book in the series!
4.5 of 5 Stars
S.R. Grey scores a touchdown with FORWARD PROGRESS, the first book in the Men of Fall series. I love S.R. Grey’s Boys of Winter series. I was excited that she came out with this spin-off series. The main character of FORWARD PROGRESS is Graham Tettersaw, the brother of Chloe Tettersaw, from CAUTION ON ICE (Boys of Winter #4). Graham was a star quarterback who suffered a career-ending injury. He is given a second-chance opportunity on a new football team, the catch; they want him to have a pretend girlfriend to help his image. Enter, Eden Vetterly, a beautiful and hard-working woman who is raising her younger brother, Paul.
S.R. Grey does a fantastic job with her character development. Graham is a good guy. He overcame an addition to prescription drugs. He is selfless and hard working. I like that he is friends with a lot of the guys on The Las Vegas Wolves. Eden is an amazing heroine. She is a wonderful guardian to her brother and will do almost anything for him.
The plot was skillfully executed. The story was believable and interesting throughout. There were entertaining twists and obstacles that the characters faced. I didn’t really care for the organization that Graham was working for. They seemed not to care about their players. It made a thought-provoking storyline. FORWARD PROGRESS had a great ending that felt well-concluded. I’m looking forward to Caleb’s story next in FAIR CATCH. I voluntarily reviewed an advance reader copy of this book.
Well what a wonderful book this story was and a fantastic start to a new series!
I absolutely loved everything about this book! It had so much love, friendships, family, drama and some rather sizzling moments as well! I laughed, sighed, swooned and at a certain part my heart was in my throat!
This book has so much going for it and more! Yes there is something different but also really beautiful in this wonderful sports romance story! You just have to read it for yourself!
I think what I loved most was Grahams huge heart, his caring and thoughtful nature and I absolutely adored how he was with Eden! The characters are a credit to the author and her words! Grab it now!
I had high hopes for finding a new-to-me author of sports romance to add to my reading repertoire. I was especially intrigued with Grey’s carelessly tossing in a few “I’m definitely not getting involved with her/him” comments that have me gleefully grinning in anticipation of the inevitable fall. I liked the set-up of Graham, a good-hearted hero trying to regain his football career, and Eden, the sweet heroine, accepting a job as the hero’s fake girlfriend in order to provide for her younger brother.
Unfortunately, my grin straightened itself out and my glee faded as I got into the story. That’s not to say this book is bad, because it’s perfectly respectable, but I’ve read some pretty stellar sports romance/rom-coms (Susan Elizabeth Phillips, Erin McCarthy, Rachel Gibson, Maria Luis, Pippa Grant), so my bar is set pretty high. This book just didn’t grab me and compel me to devour it. The characters didn’t come alive, their chemistry didn’t spark for me, and there was much more telling than showing, which kept me distanced. Parts of the plot seemed contrived (do pro sports teams really dictate who their players can and cannot date?!) which nudged me farther out of the story.
Although I didn’t connect with this book, I was impressed with the technical quality of the writing and the flawless editing, two things that are always a plus for me. If you’re already a fan of this author you’ll most likely love this book, and if you’re not familiar with Grey but are in the mood for a quick and easy, stress-free read, you might give this a try.
When Graham and Eden start to blur the lines between their pretend relationship and real feelings, they’re thrown for a loop by the league and must figure out if they even have a real chance at a love. I loved the chemistry between the characters, and Eden’s brother was a perfect addition to the story!
This is the first book in a new series from this talented author, and what an introduction this is! Graham is a former star quarterback, and when he suffers an injury, resulting circumstances ended his career. Now that he has a chance to play again, his agent arranges for a fake girlfriend which is Eden to improve his image. Eden is a hard working and struggles to raise her younger brother alone especially when he seems to be in trouble constantly, and the money from the job will help tremendously. This is a well written story, which had me totally intrigued and captivated throughout, and I cannot wait to read more off this authors’ work, and I highly recommend her work for all.
I really love sports romance books and yes even though I am not a fan of football I do like football romance books.
I loved Foward Progress by S.R. Grey. This book is one that I just couldn’t put down at all and I did love Graham and Eden together. Such chemistry!
If you are looking for a good hot sports romance then i do highly recommend this book
Whoo Hoo! Another great series by S.R Grey. I loved her hockey series and now we get football!! This fake girlfriend/boyfriend story is probably typical for the genre, but this one makes it all the more better with great characters, and descriptive scenery. I want to live where I can sneak off to a private spot and look at the stars and just be. Grey makes it so beautiful, even in the snow!
This is definitely a one sitter, I couldn’t stop with all the greatness in these pages!
Sweetness overload with some wonderful swoon and drama to keep you on your toes come together in this sexy football romance! Forward Progress is definitely one I’d recommend if you’ve got a sweet tooth and like a bit of steam to warm you up, but not overheat. I found myself liking both Graham and Eden very quickly and continued to like them even more as their story went on.
Graham is a man with a second chance at his dreams after working so hard to recover from his past. With a heart of gold yet still being all you would expect of a professional football player it was easy to swoon over every dreamy thing he did. Eden was just as sweet, struggling to get by and willing to do anything to help her little brother achieve his dreams. When these two meet that sweetness they each have becomes some fantastic sparks that will make your heart race.
The only thing that held me back from this being a five star read was the extent of the drama. Avoiding spoilers I’ll leave it at that, but if you love a good bit of drama this will definitely be a must read!
As the newest player for the Canadian/NFL football league, Graham has many hurdles to overcome but first and foremost his past. When the team’s genius idea is a fake girlfriend is presented, he can’t believe his ears. But when Eden, a guardian to her younger brother walks into his life , there’s no way he can say no. What started as fake becomes real, but will their love stand the test of time? I loved this book so much. Eden is such a relatable character and I absolutely loved her. I’m really excited areas more of this series.
I love a good book about football and romance. This is one of them. First in the series and I absolutely love it. All she wanted was to get enough money to make sure her brother could follow his dream at school. Little does she know that her fake boyfriend will become so much more. But will something year them apart ? Great storyline. Amazing characters. Love the instant chemistry and spark between these two. Just some great moments between these two. An overall great book. Can’t wait to read the next one in this series.I do recommend one clicking this one.
I loved it! This is the first book in the Men of Fall Series, and this is really a great start to a new Series! I love ALL about this story! The characters, the story, the ending. The main characters, Graham and Eden share an instant attraction, and an undeniable chemistry! Both are great characters. The secondary characters are also interesting. The storyline is beautifully written, and I love the Epilogue. This is a great Sport Romance, and I highly recommend it! Now, I can’t wait for the next book in the Series, Fair Catch, Caleb’s story. I voluntarily reviewed an Advanced Reader Copy of this book.
Update – Audiobook Review: I have read this book before, and loved it. The audiobook version is amazing! I love Teddy Hamilton and Regan West together! This is a great team author/narrators! This is exactly why the audiobook experience is so addictive! Now, I can’t wait for the next book in the Series, Fair Catch, Caleb’s story.
Graham is a quarterback that is trying to get back into the game after having messed up his first chance. He has worked long and hard to get back to the point where teams will look at him again. When his agent tells him that the team wants to make him more marketable and to do that he needs a fake girlfriend, Graham doesn’t really put up a fuss and is willing to go along with the plan. Eden is determined to make sure that her little brother has every opportunity in life, and if she has to work double shifts every day, then she will. When Eden gets the offer to pretend to be Graham’s fake girlfriend, at first she is unsure but she knows there will never be another offer. Deciding to make the best of this situation, the last thing Eden expected was to be attracted to Graham. The last thing Graham expected was to spark with Eden on their first meeting. In a pretend relationship that is laced with rules and stipulations, what could go wrong?
I really wanted this to be more than it was. Don’t get me wrong it was ok, but I kinda wanted more from the situation than what we got. For me this was just an ok read, the drama felt a bit forced to me, the naughty bits were a big hit and actually saved the book for me. I give this 3.75 stars.
Graham is read to break back into football but who knew there would be such stipulations with the new contract.
Eden is trying to pay for her brothers new art school but money is tight. When a chance to make quick money comes her way will it be worth it?
These two have an instant attraction that can’t be denied. Will what starts as fake turn into more?
This is a great read. I look forward to reading more of the Men of Fall series.
Book 1 in a new series from S.R. Grey and if Forward Progress is anything to go by this series is certainly going to be a big hit !! I can honestly say there wasn’t anything I didn’t love about this book I loved the characters, the story, the funny banter and did i mention the sizzling smoking hot chemistry, well this book has it all and so much more.
Graham is looking to start playing professional football again but no team in the NFL is interested but a new team in the lower league has an offer a contact as the starting QB on one condition, Graham needs to be in a stable relationship he needs a live in girlfriend……
Eden is the perfect fake girlfriend and she needs the money so can Graham make her an offer she can’t refuse and will the couple with an instant attraction to each keep it purely professional or will they act on their feelings well I guess you need to read the book to find that out…….
I loved Graham so much, he made me laugh and he has the biggest heart and what can I say about Eden apart from she is passionate and caring in fact these two are just perfect together. I loved how this author pulled in her characters from her previous hockey series without them taking over the book and I can’t wait for book 2 in the Men of Fall Series. Great Job S.R. Grey.
