5 Star Review Forward Progress (Men of Fall #1) by S.R.Grey
Book one in an exciting new series from S.R. Grey and I was so excited to dive in. Graham Tettersaw is a former star quarterback looking to get back into the game he loves. When an opportunity is forthcoming, the only catch is that the team requires he be in a steady relationship.
Enter Eden Vetterly, a woman, in need of money, she is the perfect woman to play the part. However, the fact that there is an instant attraction may complicate the arrangement as the chemistry between them is off the charts. Will they be able to ignore their smouldering attraction or will they give in to temptation?
I really loved both the characters, separately and together. Forward Progress is full of drama, steam, laughter and romance and I absolutely devoured it. Graham is certainly swoon worthy and Eden is a woman who could be my friend. If only they could ignore the outside influences threatening to destroy them, they might just get their happily ever after.
This was a great start to the series and I cannot wait to see what S.R.Grey has in store for the Men of Fall. Who will be next?
Audio Review
Eden needs money and she has an opportunity to get plenty. When she is ask to be a “fake” girlfriend for a star football player she thinks this will solve all her and her brothers problems. Little does she know it will do so much more.
Graham has a bad reputation and the team decides the best way to fix it is to provide him with a fake girlfriend that is sweet and wholesome. There is more to Eden than he realized and turns out he wants more than fake.
This is a sweet romance and I enjoyed listening.
Teddy Hamilton and Reagan West narrate this book and they both do a good job.
** spoiler alert ** He just wants to get back to the game he loves, she is determined to do anything necessary to take care of her brother. A contract is drawn up. Will they be able to find and get a Happy Ever After?
Have to say that I thought these two gelled together really well. I loved the fact that she was determined to still be herself, but allowed herself to be open to the possibility of more. I loved how he was determined to do his best and was there when she really needed him. Good read and cannot wait to read more of this series!
Sweet fast read.
It’s so refreshing that an arranged relationship storyline doesn’t have the people hating each other or one person being an asshole right away. Eden & Graham are both nice, real and genuine. They have immediate chemistry as people, not just as a “couple.” They get along well but it’s the football team that Graham plays for – and set up their fake relationship – that is the problem for them. They abruptly end their fake-turned-real deal to fit their publicity angles, completely devastating Graham and Eden in the process.
I really liked it! I will definitely read more of the books in this series and other titles by this author. I liked her writing style and, for the most part, the football elements were written very well.
(I received a complimentary copy of this book from Hidden Gems.)
Who doesn’t love a good football romance? You can certainly count me in so ling as it’s well done – and Forward Progress (Men of Fall, Book 1) most certainly was. I’ve not read other books by S.R. Grey. I’m going to have to remedy that. If they’re anything like this one I’ve been missing out. As for this one: definitely recommended.
Meet Graham Tettersaw, he is a former star quarterback that has an opportunity for a second chance at his career. This new contract with a rising team comes with a pretend relationship with Eden Vetterly. He figures a second chance to play professional football is worth this pretend relationship. When these two meet though, there are sparks, those sparks are all that is needed to make a flame which turns into a raging fire. Now that real feelings are involved, can this pretend relationship become real?
I voluntarily read and reviewed my free copy that I received of this book from Hidden Gems.
Great book! Graham is getting a second opportunity to play football. Only one problem the team wants to run his life. Eden needs money to fund her brother’s schooling when a lifetime opportunity drops in her lap. This is a wonderful story of two people who are good at heart and are able to fall in love. The characters are generous, funny and likable. Even through everything they are open with each other and not afraid to own their feelings. It will give you fairytale dreams and a happy ending.
This is my first book by this S.R. Grey. I like what the author did with the story. It had some fun moments and it did not go in the direction I thought it would. It’s happier and more even keeled. Sure the owners were jerks but they are looking to get butts in the seats. Whatever it takes! This could have gone way worse. The characters were great. Usually I tend to favor the males but in this one I really liked Eden. She was struggling and only wanted the best for her brother (who is a great secondary character). This lead her to questionable actions but it also led her to Graham.
Teddy Hamilton and Reagan West did an amazing job narrating. They both had notes of excitement, laughter, sadness in their voices while reading. This is what makes a book wonderful to listen to. We already have a good story and these two made the characters more believable and listener friendly.
This seems well rounded and makes me a little more interested in the series

Men of Fall, Book 1

This is a great book, it grabbed my attention right from the start and held it to the end. The storylines and characters are interesting and realistic. Graham Tettersaw misses his time on the field, he gets a second chance at playing for a team in a newly created football league. The team has conditions built in to his contract, which includes the team controlling aspects his private life and his image in social media. They want him to have a steady girlfriend, his agent Jock finds one for him. Eden Vetterly, a hard working waitress is the legal guardian of her younger brother, she wants the best for him and makes sacrifices for him, including signing a contract to pretend to be a girlfriend to the new quarterback of the Columbus Comets. There was an instant attraction when these two met but they held back not knowing what each others deal was. I loved how well plotted this story was, it had a nice flow to it, from getting to know each other to the build up of the relationship. Eden and Graham were great together and for each other, both were stand up people with huge hearts, putting others before themselves. There is never a dull moment in this book, it all plays out nicely, with plenty of drama, a twist here and there and some hot romance. This is my first book by S.R. Grey and it will not be my last. Thank you for this great story.
I listened to the Audible edition, Teddy Hamilton and Reagan West are terrific narrators and voice performers. They bring these characters to life, give each their own voice and personality, as well as heart and attitude. They do an amazing job projecting the emotions of the characters and the drama of the story info their performance. Each are entertaining storytellers and a pleasure to listen to. Thank you for this great listen

I have been waiting for Graham’s story since I met him in Caution on Ice! I fell for him then and he is even more swoony in this fun, refreshing, and steamy romance! Graham has made some bad decisions that cost him too much. He is setting goals to better himself and to give back to the community. One of his goals is to see if he can play professional football again. The team that is considering signing him wants to make sure he has the right image. They find Eden, a struggling waitress, to help him achieve that goal. Eden is working hard to support her younger brother and herself. She is sweet, and loving, and will do anything, legal, to help her brother. Eden and Graham didn’t expect the sparks to fly the instant they met. They are attracted to each other, but also really like each other as well. But when the team changes the rules, they must decide what matters most. I loved Graham and Eden together, especially in the way they looked out for each other was very sweet. Teddy Hamilton, and Reagan West did a great job bringing this delightful, heartwarming and fun romance to life. Their expressions, and voice changes were wonderful, and the comedic timing was perfect. They really made this rom-com even more enjoyable!
Audiobook Review:
Forward Progress (Men Of Fall, Book 1) is a sports romance with slapstick humor swirling through the pages at every turn.
Told in first person dual pov, we are given a comprehensive look into Graham and Eden’s lives. A frothy listen with a natural chemistry between Eden and Graham. Character’s are super-duper with compelling characteristics. A fake relationship romance that is poles apart from other ones I’ve read/listened in the past. A morsel of melodrama lurking through the narative of this sweet love romance with witty banter entwined through out. The writing style is light and entertaining.
Looking forward to listening to other books in this series and learn more about this new league and players.
Narators Teddy Hamilton And Reagan West gave it their all with realistic zeal and vibes. Character’s were given their own voice and captured the essence of the characters. Sweet and sultry moments with just the right tone and pace flowing through smoothly.

Men of Fall, Book 1
By: S.R. Grey
Narrated by: Teddy Hamilton, Reagan West
There is something about the style that SR Grey writes that I just fall for. It’s so familiar, yet the story is always brand new and has an edge of humor. I love this first book in her new series! It has all those feelings. Graham is recovered from what was thought to be a career ending injury, and pain killer addiction and is ready to play football again. But the only team that will look at him at his age is the Comets…and there are stipulations. Eden is always taking care of others and now in need of money to send her brother to private school she takes the chance and becomes one of those contract stipulations! Eden and Graham are to pretend to be in love and she has to live him. But will this pretend relationship turn into something more? I fell for this couple, the crossover from Men of Winter, with Dylan and Chloe, the slow burn, the stars, and the car. It’s all there for the taking and I can’t wait to see what SR Grey has in store for Caleb in book 2!
Now for the narration. With a man like Graham, we need a voice that is warm, yet strong, compassionate, and protective. Teddy Hamilton gives his all to this with his wonderfully warm voice. He can project every feeling, becoming the character and making me believe his is Graham. It’s a gift. By his side, Reagan West blew me away with her portrayal of Eden. She can create her characters with such style and emotion that I get swept up in the story. This team was nothing short of incredible.

What a great sport romance read, this is the first time that I have read a book by S.R. Grey and I am sure that it will not be my last. I could not get enough of Graham and Eden. Graham who just wants another opportunity to prove that he is an amazing football player and even though he made some poor decisions in his past he wants to show that he has learned from that. Eden the sweet beautiful hometown girl who is not only taking care of herself but also her younger brother. She is selfless and knows that she has to find a way to pay for the education that her brother needs. In order to do the best for her brother, she took on the contract proposed by the football team to be Graham’s live in girlfriend. Who would ‘ve thought that the sparks were going to fly, Graham and Eden both deserve love so why the complication? I really enjoyed this book. I look forward to reading more bookings in the Men of Fall series.
This is the first book in this new series from S. R Grey and its a great start. She always manages to deliver a series that will grab you and keep your interest, leaving you waiting for more.
SR has brought two of my favourite tropes together, sports romances mixed with fake relationships, I’m in heaven.
Graham was a star quarterback until he suffered an injury and it ended his career. When he gets a chance to play again his reputation isn’t that great and his agent hires a ‘fake girlfriend’ to clean-up his image. He will do anything the team asks of him, he wants to have a second chance.
I loved Eden, shes so lovely, shes compassionate and strong, always putting others ahead of herself. She is trying to raise her teenage brother so takes on the job of being a fake girlfriend to support them both.
The chemistry between these two is hot, off the charts. They spark straight away which would normally be good but as they are in a pretend relationship that is laced with rules and conditions its never going to be smooth sailing.
Forward Progress is a great recipe of laughter, romance, drama and hot chemistry. I can’t wait to see what SR Grey brings us next in this series
Wow, I devoured this book. I fell in love with Graham from the start. He has gone through some tough times, but he was dedicated and strong and pushed through to the man he is. Then enters Eden, she is loving and caring you can’t help but feel for her and her brother. Eden has also gone through a lot and it has shaped her into who she is. When these two meet, you can’t deny the chemistry. The connection Graham and Eden has pulls you in and takes you on a ride. As they go through their journey you can’t help but want to cheer for these two to be together. I suggest reading this heartwarming story filled with emotion, humor, and swoon worthy moments to see what happens with Graham and Eden.
Whoo Hoo! Another great series by S.R Grey. I loved her hockey series and now we get football!! This fake girlfriend/boyfriend story is probably typical for the genre, but this one makes it all the more better with great characters, and descriptive scenery. I want to live where I can sneak off to a private spot and look at the stars and just be. Grey makes it so beautiful, even in the snow!
This is definitely a one sitter, I couldn’t stop with all the greatness in these pages!
This is a fun sports romance. Eden and Graham are thrown together in a fake relationship to help his image. Just when they fall for each other his team decides to go a different direction with his image. I loved how much Eden cared for her younger brother. As his guardian she was willing to do just about anything to do what was best for him. Graham was a great guy with a bit of a past, but honestly who doesn’t have a past. I enjoyed the honesty of their feelings for each other. A great read.
First I have to say that this book really took me on a roller coaster ride because there were so many things going on for both main characters that at first I wasn’t going to read it but after I got a few chapters in I was hooked and I am so glad I finished this book because it was amazing! I just couldn’t imagine a team putting stipulations on their players but this author pulled it off and had me hooked wondering what was going to happen next.
Eden is working hard trying to take care of her family when she is offered an offer of a lifetime. All she has to do is live and pretend she is the quarterbacks girlfriend. This is easy and for what she is getting paid she can do it. Only when she meets the quarterback Graham she is thrown for a loop and as time goes by she starts to fall for Graham for real.
Graham is all for the stipulation in his contract as long as he can play he does not care. Then he meets Eden and he starts to have real feelings for her and his mind is changed but he has to follow the contract in order to play so he and Eden keep their real feelings hidden from everyone. Will these two ever be able to come out and be a real relationship or will they be held to their contracts?
I’m glad I was able to sign up just in time for ARC’s to be emailed out.
I’ve read tons of sports-romance and they are usually, more or less the same idea… Although I understand that there is probably a possibility that this happens in real life, I do however feel frustrated about the fact that the organization would waste that much resources on babysitting or just the simple fact that they were overly controlling about a certain athlete’s personal life…
It kinda reminded me of Romeo and Juliet. I wished there was also someone who would shake Graham’s feathers other than the team… like an admirer of Eden or something. Because I felt like Eden was just waiting for him like an obedient pet … I could understand about the restrictions but in real life, that would be too hard and stressful especially on a new relationship built on a fake-relationship foundation.
This isn’t only a mere sports romance and fairy tale, this is also a story about redemption, self-worth and fate.
The storyline isn’t something new but I love it nonetheless. I definitely recommend this. If you’re looking for a football sports romance to get your hands, then this one’s it!
