Admittedly, my first plan was a little crazy. I had forty days to execute it. Find a fake fiancé, move in with him, and convince the powers-that-be that we’re madly in love. Surely this British girl can sweet-talk a few American officials. Step One: the sexy, wealthy doctor I’ve been chatting up agrees to my plan–with a demand of his own. A baby. An actual ring. A for-real marriage and … for-real marriage and family. Turns out, there’s someone more bonkers than me.
So Step Two: I now have forty days to convince my fake fiancé that we can’t be real.
Because there’s no such thing as love at first sight–right?

I enjoy Ms. McCarthy’s writing and I’ve read several of her books. Forty Day Fiance started out enjoyable but soon I noticed that it didn’t read as good as the others I’ve read. This was written in first person POV for both main characters, which was good and something I don’t see that much. However I sometimes lost which POV I was reading. For me, it would have helped to have each section subtitled with his/her name. (This may be a personal problem but I never noticed it in past books I’ve read.)
The story line was good. Trying to make a relationship work in 40 days with someone you barely know is difficult at best, but the author did a good job of making it believable. Felicia and Michael had a good chemistry and definitely had heat. I felt the happenings between the couple were a bit rushed, but when you only have a month you have to move fast. McCarthy did a good job of moving the story along. I did find myself predicting correctly where the story would go. Some of the secondary characters could have been fleshed out a bit but I figured that only left an opening for their future story. The closer to the end of the story, the more interested in it I became. Not because it was ending, but that it got better. I just wish it happened sooner. Also, if you are sensitive to language, you might pass on this one. Nothing too severe here, but it could affect some readers.

This book is about Felicia, who Is facing deportation, and Michael, a widower who is looking for someone with whom to have a life and family. They meet after Felicia “catfished” him while looking for someone to date her friend. She got carried away and enjoyed exchanging email, developing a connection. She arranges an appointment with Michael and confesses everything. Michael decided to overlook their strange introduction and they explore their amazing chemistry. When Felicia tells him the news that she is being deported, he volunteers a fake/real engagement. He would step forward as her fiancé so that she can apply for a fiancé visa, and she agrees to move in with him for the forty days until she is deported for “immersion dating.” The agreement is that she would consider the possibility of marrying him and have children together.
What follows is the journey to their Happily Ever After, complicated by miscommunication and immigration law. This was an easy book to read. It was the sometimes funny and sometimes emotional journey to love. The characters are likable, have depth, and many are familiar from previous books in this series. While having read the previous titles gives one more understanding of the relationships between the main and supporting characters, the book could easily be read as a stand-alone title. The ending of the story can be predicted from the very beginning, but it is fun to travel the main characters path. I loved the crazy predicament the heroine finds herself in, especially when she forgets her tablet at Michael’s home and then started a graphic texting session with her best friends about her interest in him, which is all synced with the tablet, allowing Michael to read how interested she was in a sexual encounter. I recommend that you read the book for yourself and laugh out loud!

This was a great story! I really loved both characters and their initial meeting was hilarious! Michael is looking to start a family, but doesn’t want to go through the hassle of dating when Felicia enters the picture. He is immediately smitten. Felicia has an enormous crush on the handsome doctor. When a situation arises, they come up with a plan to set it right. What happens next is the sweetest love story. A really great story from beginning to end.
I thoroughly enjoyed Forty Day Fiance, it was fast paced and fun, read it all in one sitting! Felicia unintentionally catfishes Michael (you see the beginnings of this in the previous book), they end up meeting and I really appreciated that she was up front and straight forward about what happened. Felicia needs help to stay in the US and Michael comes to her rescue – with his own stipulations. Felicia and Michael have so much attraction it’s unreal. They’re both in denial for a bit, but you can see it shine through all their banter and actions.I also appreciated that Michael is 40, he’s quite a bit older than Felicia, but that brings out his younger side and I loved it.
There’s a thing that happens nearish the end that most often annoys me, but I found in this case to really enjoy that surprise, it felt organic for Felicia and Michael rather than a contrived plot device. I loved it!
While not required I recommend reading Weekend Wife and Five First Dates first. They can all be read as standalones, but they’re connected and I think it’s best when reading them all (plus they’re all good!).

Get comfortable as you will not want to put this book down. This was a 5+ star read for me and I didn’t want the story to end. I absolutely adored this book! The relationship between Michael and Felicia was so refreshing; the banter was brilliant and they had incredible chemistry. Their storyline was fun and I loved all
the supporting characters too. Loved Michael & Felicia. The chemistry between these two was out of this world. Erin McCarthy at her best. Absolutely loved it. Can’t wait to read more from this fabulous author. Happy reading everyone.
Felicia meets Michael, the man of her dreams, by accidentally catfishing him due to a weird set of circumstances. When she ends up meeting him in real life she immediately comes clean with what she has done and hopes that they can move forward. The two have an instant attraction and both dive in head first. Felicia, who is British and is in New York on a Visa soon learns that she will be deported in forty days. Worried about her future she lets Michael know of her situation and he comes up with the solution that they get engaged and apply for a fiancee visa. Felicia moves in with Michael and they work on really getting to know each other. Follow along as these two try to figure out where they stand with each other and decide if being together is the best end result. This was a sassy and fun read filled with a rainbow of emotions and I loved every minute of it.
I loved this book so much!! This new series by Erin is addicting I want all the girls to have story’s!! I want all the boys friends to enter this world. I just don’t want it to end.
Cynical Felicia Hobbs who has no time for love just working her business has finally found someone she clicked with only one problem… he thinks she Savannah and well that didn’t work out to well when Savannah had a date with Michale.
How can she try to get him to see her and not think she’s a nutter? Turns out it’s easier than she thought to bad her crazy plan to get a fake fiancé turns a litter crazier than she expected. He wants stipulations of his own.
This book was so good I love Felicia she’s funny and crazy and a fierce main character. She wants her own way she wants to make her own fortune she has no desire to cash in on her wealthy doc fake finance. I loved all the books so far and look forward to more but I think Felicia is the best one so far.
Michale is awesome he has a plan and refuses to budge he wants a family so bad he can taste it. He wants love and he is willing to bend to meet her needs.
This was a sweet funny and addictive story. I wish it was longer of course but with the other two Leah and Savanna shows up in this one so you get to see what is going on in their lives. I can’t wait for the next one!!
What do you do when you get a notice of deportation right after you’ve met the perfect man (who forgave you for initially catfishing him)? Get him to marry you of course! Felicia doesn’t want to move back to England, and Michael doesn’t want to let her go. Neither of them believe in love at first sight, but can there be love in 40 days? This rom com had me laughing my butt off in the first chapter. The story, with all of its twists and turns, is full of laughter and love ’til the very last page!
Fake fiancé trope with a twist! This story was such fun to read! Our leads were ridiculous with the banter and chemistry! I couldn’t read fast enough! My heart was singing, my girlie parts were singing (I mean they got sexy sexy LOL) and most of all I was engaged the entire time I read. The story goes by really quick and I found myself thinking “nooooooooooooo” when it was over but only because I just loved everything about them and I wanted to read forever!
40 days to figure out if this will work. Sweet funny smexy zany time is had with a little angst thrown in for giggles. This books is so much like early EM that I am just tickled! I am so glad she has come back to her sweet snarky self! Can’t go wrong with an Erin McCarthy book!
A funny and quirky read, starting with Felicia Catfishing Michael. Their first actual meeting was to be a business meeting turned heated and freaking hysterical. Love comes in when you least expect it. For Felicia and Michael it was more than just a meet cute, they were a matched perfectly in the dating app. The forty days for me was just to confirm the connection they had already made. The fun they had compromising through out their time. The things he never thought were important that he now felt fit what he wanted.
This story was steamy fun and totally believable, the Brit and her New Yorker were a match made in heaven. I believe they balance each other out, from her smudging the ghost of his ex out of their lives and his serious and conservative side. A fun read that was very refreshing as we are all stuck in our houses worried about when we will be able to travel. For Felicia her worrying about be able to stay although not the same gave her the same anxieties that I am feeling now. A 8 star read and a great addition to my library!
Felicia Hobbs, from England, is living in a small New York apartment. She set her friend Savannah up on a date in a previous book, and it didn’t work out. But she got a job out of it- listing his late wife’s clothes for auction. When she meets Dr. Michael Kincaid, they really hit it off and had a few amazing nights together. Then she finds out her work visa was expiring and she had 40 days to fix it or leave the country. Michael feels the chemistry and wants to help her by getting engaged. Many funny scenes- my favorite- no one would get up to turn the light off. Fast read, funny characters. You can’t go wrong with this rom-com.
What a cute book! It grabbed me from page one all the way to the end. It had me laughing out loud. This book was very entertaining. We have a sassy Brit and a workaholic doctor that meet inter false pretenses. Felicia pretended to be someone else. So when Michael meets who he thought she was talking to, it didn’t make sense. Because the person he spoke to on line was not who he met. But when Felicia meets Michael in person, she spills the beans. And the chemistry is so hot! When Felicia needs help, Michael has a brilliant idea. So while the two of them are getting to know each other, those feelings seem to creep in. This book was such a joy and like I said, it made me laugh. I’d definitely grab this book today!
Forty Day Fiancé is a cute read. I enjoyed every moment of this one. You feel the chemistry between Felicia and Michael. I love the banter between them. They put a smile on my face. Felicia finds herself in a tricky spot and I love how Michael just steps up to help. You feel the love between them before they see it. This is a quick read you will just adore. I couldn’t get enough.
I really liked this book, it was a funny read out loud story! I read it in one sitting!
4 + Forty stars for this Fake Fiancé story.
Forty Day Fiancé by Erin McCarthy is a fast-paced, fun story. It felt more like a novella, the pages went by so fast. This is a steamy fake engagement romance with a wonderful cast of characters including Felicia Hobbs and Dr. Michael Kincaid as our leading couple.
They have insane chemistry and compatibility even when they knowingly put it to the test. Their witty banter and sexy innuendos had me laughing out loud.
This has a slight twist in the storyline, but it’s a good one. I loved how it piqued my interest from the opening pages. I devoured it in one sitting and now, I just wish there could have been more.
5 Star Review of Forty Day Fiancee by Erin McCarthy
Erin McCarthy is a relatively new author to me and I have no idea why that is. Forty Day Fiancee was an entertaining read that drew me in and kept me riveted from the first to the last chapter. This was a story with plenty of heart and soul, with secondary characters that were just as fun as Felicia Hobbs and Dr. Michael Kincaid.
This was such an intriguing story that ticked all the boxes for me. The characters were easy to relate to and I found myself totally invested in the story of two people who have forty days to decide if what they have is real and have a future together.
The chemistry between Felicia and Michael was intense and as their attraction grows, so does the heat. This was a romantic, steamy, funny book and is a little gem. which I thoroughly enjoyed.
I love this new series from Erin McCarthy. It is just a breath of fresh air that will have any reader smiling and laughing as Felicia and Michael work through their relationship. Felicia is a London transplant who has spent her time focused on her online business and accidentally forgets to file her visa extension paperwork. Now in a bit of a pickle she is desperately trying to find a solution to her problem, which comes in the form of Dr. Michael Kincaid. Michael is a man who knows what he wants and will do what he must to get it. The two have incredible chemistry but can they make it work for the long haul? This is one well written and addictive storyline with two strong willed characters that will have you wanting more. I look forward to the next book in the series. I volunteered to read an advance copy of this book.
4.5 Stars for Forty Day Fiancé
This is one of those books that you fall in love with right from the first page, the characters are adorable, the banter is witty and the chemistry is smoking hot. This is Felicia Hobbs and Dr Michael Kincaid’s story but what makes this book special is every character in this book is fun and entertaining, it’s not just the hero and the heroine that made this a great read is the whole bundle.
Forty days to decide if you are with the right person doesn’t seem long but that’s all this couple have and they need to decide their fate in that time……
This is a fun, entertaining, romantic read that will make you laugh and I highly recommend you one click this gem you won’t be disappointed.
Fun funny quick read, with very steamy scenes. This is connected with two other books, but is very definitely a standalone. Felicia has been texting with a man she had selected for her friend to go on a blind date with, however the date didn’t go too well, but the conversation continued even though she is still pretending to be her friend. The truth comes out fairly quickly without problem and the relationship escalates from there. Some misunderstandings happen, but get corrected quickly enough. I personally could have less steam, but it moves along and good plot happens. Great epilogue to wind everything up. I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and the author and am voluntarily leaving a review.
