I really like the Tasmanian Tales
It was a great read!
Nice romantic novel with a few twists. Enjoyable and entertaining.
An engaging story set in Tasmania, Australia, and South Africa, the characters are endearing and believable and the action is nonstop. Billed as the first in a series, there better be another one, as I want to know what happens next! I was especially interested in and intrigued by the descriptions of the landscape and native animals and plants, and the impact of human activities upon them.
I couldn’t wait to see what happened nexty.
Unique setting and riveting story line.
I’m afraid I didn’t get very far into this book. They really piled on the misery, for the main character. Since it was such a dark, dismal story, I didn’t feel like trying to finish it. However, it was well written, very readable, just not something I enjoy reading.
A different read, buy enjoyed the change. Informative yet kept the story moving
Luke, at age 14 and idealistic, tries to report that the richest man in town raped his sister. Instead of seeing justice done, Luke ends up sentenced to 15 years hard labor in Tasmania. After just four years, Luke escapes with the help of a dog he names Bear and begins life as an outlaw. Meanwhile, his mentor Daniel and Daniel’s daughter Belle, have gone on with their lives. In some ways what happens as the book develops is unbelievable, but the reader has to remember that this is the frontier and anything can happen. Daniel works in a mine, but then goes to visit his tigers (!) and discovers gold. He later makes his fortune in diamonds, all the while wishing to return to Belle and the love he has for her (and their son). A good read.
I really enjoyed this book of rags to riches, lots of twist & turns. Kept me guessing right up to the end. One of my favorite books, very well written.
Liked it a lot. The reason I gave it only a four is that I just didn’t understand so much of the Aussie lingo.
Enjoyable read. I would look for more books by this author.
Loved this book
I wasn’t too sure about this book in the beginning. I thought I was reading something more mystical. The author wrote a portion of the book in the animal’s voice and I thought I wasn’t going to like the book. But I continued to read on and was pleasantly surprised. The book has a fair share of evil people and strong characters that overcome great obstacles. I was taken on an incredible journey and really liked this book.
I thoroughly enjoyed this book.
This was a good book. A story about a young man’s trials and tribulations in early Tasmania.
.
Took a while to get there but the “happily ever after” does finally arrive.
An excellent, compelling read.
Great book , didn’t want it to end
Engaging, interesting characters. Worth reading just for the setting.
