From “the most popular mystery writer alive” (The New York Times), the twenty-seventh entry in the #1 New York Times bestselling series isn’t just the biggest case of Stephanie Plum’s career. It’s the adventure of a lifetime. When Stephanie’s beloved Grandma Mazur’s new husband died on their wedding night, the only thing he left her was a beat-up old easy chair…and the keys to a life-changing … chair…and the keys to a life-changing fortune.
But as Stephanie and Grandma Mazur search for Jimmy Rosolli’s treasure, they discover that they’re not the only ones on the hunt. Two dangerous enemies from the past stand in their way—along with a new adversary who’s even more formidable: Gabriela Rose, a dark-eyed beauty from Little Havana with a taste for designer clothes. She’s also a soldier of fortune, a gourmet cook, an expert in firearms and mixed martial arts—and someone who’s about to give Stephanie a real run for her money.
Stephanie may be in over her head, but she’s got two things that Gabriela doesn’t: an unbreakable bond with her family and a stubborn streak that will never let her quit.
She’ll need both to survive because this search for “fortune and glory” will turn into a desperate race against time with more on the line than ever before. Because even as she searches for the treasure and fights to protect her Grandma Mazur, her own deepest feelings will be tested—as Stephanie could finally be forced to choose between Joe Morelli and Ranger.

Love all her books
I have read this entire series, and found this book to be a return to the neighborhood, characters, wit and twisted turns of events that led me to fall in love in the first place. The thrill was gone for a little while, but I am glad I stuck with the series, because easy “laugh out loud” moments were scattered throughout this book. It was a lot of fun visiting with old friends; they didn’t disappoint!
It was a good book. There is a difference between a good book and a great book, though. It was a simple and straightforward plot line. The character development was not very deep, rich nor complex. It wasn’t a book that held my attention like glue. It never managed to draw me into the lives of the characters and the drama of the story.
Love Stephanie Plum and her side kick, Lula. While they’re trying to catch the culprit, they get into more situations that make me laugh out loud. Grandma Mazur isn’t far behind them. Fun stories.
so the last book left off w/a cliffhanger & this one picks it up w/the resolution. Stephanie & Grandma Mazur are left w/keys to a treasure.
This was slightly different from the usual Plum stories as instead of being centered around her FTA skips, it was more centered on the treasure hunt.
There were still the usual cast of characters (Lula, Ranger, Joe, her family, etc.) but some new kooks were introduced to her gang. I liked Potts-the medically challenged kid who’s trying to be Stephanie’s bodyguard. Also, Gabriela-an art recovery mystery woman. I was so/so about her but i think her character fits in well w/Stephanie’s world.
There was the usual humor. The treasure hunt was an interesting mystery which kept you guessing.
I loved Lula describing her previous job as a hooker as “a professional satisfier” and being in the “customer happiness business.”
The whole Ranger/Joe triangle continues which yeah…can be a bit…come on people..you’re how old???
I know many people who were fans of the series but have since given up as they feel the love triangle and the stories have become repetitive. I understand that point but on the other hand that’s one of the reasons i still read it. The Plum world has become like family to me. I know what to expect when i pick up one of the books. An entertaining, funny, easy read which is a comfortable way to escape after a long day.
A fast paced ride with lots of twists and turns. I love this book. It’s funny with a great mystery Fortune has to solve to save the day.
It is good to see that the author is writing with the freshness found in her earlier books, other than the stale, repetitious format used in more recent books. I enjoyed this book and the one before that started this adventure of grandma’s inheritance. I’m looking forward to the next book in this series.
Story line not strong, felt it was padded out quite a bit.
I love all the Janet Evanovich books and this one did not disappoint!
This crime fiction novel introduces a new character Gabriel Rose into the Stephanie Plum series. I really enjoyed reading this novel with Ranger, Morelli, Lula and the rest of the cast.
The stakes for Stephanie Plum are high – her beloved Grandma Mazur has been targeted by the mob. While they hunt for the treasure, they keep crossing paths with a mysterious woman who has all the skills Stephanie lacks.
The best plum book in several years. This book introduces us to a new character that will be a new book series. This charactertell Stephens that she (Stephane) is lucky. Sometimes it is better be lucky than to have the skills for the job. This is so true about Stephanie.
Not nearly as funny as previous enstallments
This book was good.
This was such a fun read. I love the Potts character and hope to see him in the future. Gabriela is also a great character. I’m glad she will be making a future appearance.
I really enjoy the Stephanie Plus series, they are light, not serious and fun to read. This one the crew Grandma, LuLu and Stephanie are on the hunt for a hidden treasure. Stephanie going through cars like they are stale gum and the humor from the group. Merelli and Ranger for the spice and now a new character, Gabriela Rose.
It maybe a guilty pleasure but I enjoy the light series.
I had read the Stephanie Plum series up until book 13. Each book starting to seem the same. Stephanie is inept at her bounty hunting job, has to be rescued by either Joe Morelli or Ranger, can’t decide who she wants to have sex with and has bad karma with cars. I had hoped with book 27 that she would have decided who she desired, had become better at her job (perhaps she could get some training from Ranger) and had decided what she wanted to be when she grows up. I was disappointed. Most characters grow in succeeding books. Stephanie seems to be on a hamster wheel that doesn’t change.
I love Stephanie Plum. Her street smarts and dumb luck come together to make for a fun filled story. Her friends and family add to the witty chaos that is her life.
Another good one! Stephanie and Grandma Mazurka just have an adventure!! Lila is her usual hoot too. An easy and fun read.
Another fun Stephanie Plum adventure with Grandma Mazur and the two hot guys, Morelli and Ranger.
