An absolute delight of a madcap story for the young (and young-at-heart) by New York Times bestselling author Neil Gaiman, with equal parts pirates and piranhas, adventure and aliens, oddity and love. “I bought the milk,” said my father. “I walked out of the corner shop, and heard a noise like this: t h u m m t h u m m. I looked up and saw a huge silver disc hovering in the air above Marshall … hovering in the air above Marshall Road.”
“Hullo,” I said to myself. “That’s not something you see every day. And then something odd happened.”
Find out just how odd things get in this hilarious story of time travel and breakfast cereal, expertly told by Newbery Medalist and bestselling author Neil Gaiman and illustrated by Skottie Young.

Great short read! Neil Gaiman can turn a simple trip to get milk into a grand adventure. Or was it? While the target audience may be children, this was a witty, clever read that had me giggling. And the illustrations were fantastic.
This is one of the most original and entertaining books I have read in recent years. I have learned to expect that Mr Gaiman will surprise, delight, and stretch my imagination. I have no idea how he manages to exceed these expectations time and again!
This was the first of Neil Gaiman’s books I have read. I really enjoyed the storyline and have picked up several of his other novels since.
This is a good book to start if you are a beginner. It is easy to read, and ha a funny story. I highly recommend this book to 10 years or below. 🙂

This is my first Neil Gaiman book. I’m not sure if I would have picked this book on my own, if not for Bibilioraptor book club event of the month as Illustrated books. I had heard some wonderful reviews on this book; however, I may stand in the minority category when it …
I listened to Neil Gaiman himself narrate the audiobook. A wonderful treat and great fun!
This was the first “Big Kid” chapter book that my daughter (6) and I read together – and it was perfect for it! First of all, because Neil Gaiman. He’s such a delight – full of whimsy and darkness and the things that kids think/do but grownups are often too afraid to admit they think/do. Second, the story itself – which is a funny spin on the …
Hilarious adventures of a father on his journey to return to his children with milk.
This book was original and quite strange. This classic adventure about a father chasing a carton of milk around space and time for his children is a classic and surely wins him dad of the year!
So fun to read, and read aloud with children.
Hilarious story of time travel and breakfast cereal!
I started reading this book with my daughter, I had a hardback copy at home and she loves to learn her English.
This book is so great, that I read till the end by myself when she wasn’t looking 🙂
Can’t go wrong with Mr. Gaiman
