5 MILLION ALL THE EMOTIONS STARS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I lost my original review so i have to start over
My heart is exploding with joy over this book! I can’t explain how much I loved it! I want to shout it from the rooftops but this is a spoiler free review so I shall hold back
To start with, i think you MUST read Transcend and Epoch before starting Fortuity.
God! Jewel E. Ann and her words!!!! As a reader if you don’t feel EVERY.SINGLE.emotion when you read her words and this book, I don’t know if we can be friends (jk)
From the first page to the very last I shed some kind of tears. Whether from laughing so hard until I cried or cried so hard from my heart aching…it was THE BEST CRY
Nathaniel Hunt…WHAT A MAN!!!! *swoons*
He was ALL THE THINGS!!!!!! We see a completely new side to him than we did in the first two books and I couldn’t have asked for a better man! He is funny, smart, loving, loyal and the best single dad EVER!!!!!! He has been through so much and it has shaped him into the most beautiful human. His love for Morgan alone makes you fall in love with him. The sacrifices he has made to give her the best life is so admirable. He has shaped her into the whip smart 10yo that she is, with a heart the size of Texas! She is wise beyond her years and has a sass that made this book for me! They have made the last 8 years of their life about learning and growing together to get to the point where his life begins and that’s when FORTUITY happens!
Gracelyn Glock aka Elvis…MY SPIRIT ANIMAL!!!!! I loved everything thing about her!! At 41 she is struggling with a new life and has experienced so much loss but she is doing it brilliantly!! Her inner dialogue was refreshing and a highlight for me! The talks she and Morgan share…yeah one scene had me screaming with laughter (you’ll know it when you get there ). She is so honest and hilarious and loving and equally loyal.
The secondary characters are AH*MAZE*ING!!! Morgan, Gabe and Mr. Hans added so much to this book because it was just as much about them as it was Gracelyn and Nate.
Everything these two have been through, the loving, living, laughing, crying, losing, and heartbreak have led to this infinite moment in time when everything is as it’s supposed to be…if only for that moment. This was about choices and sacrifice and finding that moment and hanging on by your fingernails to it. It was about making decisions and changes that may not be what you want but what is meant to be.
Y’all know I love me some smut, but one of the things i love most about JEA is that I don’t need that filthy talking, gritty sexy time because her words fill you with all the emotions you can muster up. It’s ALL ABOUT THE WORDS!!!!!
And that EPILOGUE BE*U*TI*FUL!!!!!!!!!!!
So far this is my #1 read of the year! It has made me long for love that I know I deserve and that I’m never too old to find it.
I will never tire of the real, refreshing words and characters in Jewels books. She is one of those authors that have you salivating after a new book with just a title. She will forever be a favorite of mine

I was given opportunity to read an early copy of this book
Fortuity is book 3 in the Transcend series by Jewel E. Ann. It can be read as a standalone…but if you’ve read this series you will recognize who the hero is. I am so glad this is his book!! If you haven’t read the other books in the series yet, this would be the time to go do that.
What a phenomenal read this was!! Gracelyn is a great character. We see how her life is changed and how she gets custody of her 10 year old nephew. She flips her life around to make him happy after his world was rocked. She wasn’t planning on having kids after too many failed attempts at love and HEA. Then due to tragedy, her nephew comes into her life.
She then meets her nextdoor neighbors for the summer- a super sexy professor named Nathaniel and his young daughter. Nathaniel is a widower who is just about to move back to Wisconsin in 3 months and now there’s his new neighbor that’s giving him pause for she’s giving his heart a new beat. Will these two find love before 3 months is up?
This is a funny, feisty, poignant and touching story about how love comes when you least expect it. The kids are gems!! Love the way Nathaniel and Gracelyn come together. Without giving anything away, the feels, heat, passion, romance and humor makes this a great read.
My Rating: 4.5 stars *********
I am SO GLAD this author decided that there was more of Professor Nathaniel Hunt’s story to be told, especially as his daughter Morgan is now 10. I adored Morgan, so smart and more mature than her years would indicate. She added so much humour to the storyline, I smiled often due to her inquisitive nature. There were some LOL awkward moments thanks to Morgan’s need to know.
Nathaniel and Gracelyn. Nate and Grace. Both single parents (Grace being the carer for her nephew Gabe), and now neighbours for the next few months after both rent beach houses in San Diego. Grace may have been on a Man Ban, but she was not at all immune to the gorgeous man that was her temporary neighbour. I loved the really slow relationship development between these 2, both tried to hold themselves back knowing that their current situation was temporary. Grace also had the added responsibility of following the path that was best for both herself and Gabe.
Fortuity was exactly what I was hoping it would be – there was a lot of fun and humour within the story (thank you Morgan), but it also pulled on the heartstrings on more than one occasion.
5 Stars!
Gracelyn Glock is a forty something single, free spirited woman living in Idaho whose life is turned upside down when tragedy strikes her family. Suddenly she’s living in San Diego caring for her ten year old nephew trying to figure out how not to screw things up. She’s out of her element, and a hot mess, but ready to embrace this new reality she’s been given. She rents a beach house, and then meets their new neighbors who are just staying for the summer. A gorgeous man and his young daughter are a welcomed presence in their lives as friendship grows and unforgettable memories are made.
Nathaniel Hunt is an anatomy professor and a single dad from Wisconsin. He’s traveled to California to vacation, and is then returning home. His daughter is his entire world, and he’s spent the last decade devoting himself to being a wonderful dad. When he meets Gracelyn she’s like a breath of fresh air. He finds her irresistible, and their relationship is playful and fun. Soon things heat up between them as kisses are stolen and real feelings develop. Everything becomes more complicated as the summer comes to an end and goodbyes are around the corner. Will they survive each other with their hearts still intact?
Fortuity (Transcend #3) by Jewel E. Ann is a single dad, friends to lovers, standalone contemporary romance about selfless decisions, friendship, family, and unexpected love. It’s full of humor, emotion, and bad timing. Two people who are no stranger to heartbreak, loss and pain learn their hearts still have more to give. This is my new favorite book by Jewel E. Ann. This couple’s journey was so beautiful, and I loved every moment of this breathtaking story!
I bawled my eyes out my heart. A Love story that has taken 2 people alot of hurt to get pass to move on. Morgan is chatty teen girl who happens to be to smart for her own good. Morgan is a little sheltered with technology but shes seen more than other kids. These characters I loved them all to the old guy, the kids, Nate &Elvic
Nathaniel Hunt lost his best friend lost his wife and traveling the world his daughter Morgan. Now its time for him to settle in a stable setting before they do that the have one last trip San Diego.
Gracelyn aka Elvis.. Her brother Kyle and Wife Emily died and left her with there son Gabriel aka Gabe.
She now has to learn how to let go of her loses and now to be a parent to a 10yr old boy. I have to say I thought Gracelyn was a dog groomer lol but her routine after work (Now I get it)
Morgan omg the things she say .oh and catching her dad getting sucked off . The covo after is hysterical.
Gabe aka Gauc poor kid just thinks girls are annoying and Morgan is no exception but she helps him break down some walls.
With all that has been happening in the world over the last couple months, my ability to “stick with” a book and actually read the entire thing without discarding it after about 30% has been next to non-existent. Enter Jewel E. Ann, and her latest release, Fortuity.
I finished it in less than a day, people. Less. Than. A. Day. There is just something special about Jewel E. Ann and her majestic storytelling brain. And she hit the ball out of the park with this book.
Let’s talk my favorite aspect of the books I read- characters.
I adored Morgan, her precocious spirit, and her “I’m extremely cultured but just want to fit in” 10 year old personality. She added such humor to the story and I looked forward to scenes she was in.
Speaking of humor, while Morgan supplied plenty, Mr. Hans was the cherry on top of the sundae. He had heart, humor, and just a touch of weirdness that made him extremely lovable.
Lastly, our main characters, Gracelyn and Nathaniel. Can you say perfect for each other?! I loved how they played off of each other, and the magnetism between them was palpable. I love that Jewel E. Ann gave 40-somethings their chance at love; so many are focused on couples in their 20’s.
The storyline flowed, there was just enough angst and emotion to balance everything out. And it was a wonderful continuation/conclusion to the Transcend duet, which I absolutely adored as well.
I loved every single thing about Fortuity! Jewel E Ann has written a book that is exactly what I needed right now. Thank you!
Nate, Gracelyn, Morgan and Gabe are complete magic and the most perfect bookend to a phenomenal series. I laughed, I teared up, I felt their highs and their lows but most of all I felt every character in the Transcend series play a part in getting Nate to his beautiful life.
You do not have to read the first two books to enjoy Fortuity but I can’t recommend enough that you do. It’s the meat and potatoes to this dessert of a book!

I can not give this book enough stars !!
I loved it !! Could not put it down !! I woke up in the middle of the night to read because I just had to know how it ended. And I wasn’t ready for it to end.
I swear my child is going to grow up to be just like Morgan . Lol.
Nathaniel. Oh sweet Nathaniel. I’m so glad we heard from you again. And you needed a woman like Gracelyn. This book had so many wonderful characters. You fall in love with them all.
You do not have to read the other two books to understand what’s going on. But seriously read the other two just because they are wonderful also.. Every book I have read by Jewel I have loved !!!
I’m so accustomed to Jewel E. Ann ripping my heart out that I was a little unprepared for how much I would laugh while reading this book. I haven’t read the other two books in the Transcend series (and I don’t feel like I needed to in order to understand this one, but rest assured I am going to read Transcend and Epoch because I’m so hooked on Jewel E. Ann’s storytelling.
Gracelyn is fun. She may not think she is, though. She sees herself as a 41-year-old singleton who now must parent her nephew Gabe after her brother and his wife die. She has no real career, no real path. She’s also on a man ban, having had three relationships end in pretty awful ways. She and Gabe decide to stay in San Diego, renting a floor in a home owned by the delightful Mr. Hans. Next door, in another of his properties, live a widower, Nate, and his daughter Morgan, who have been traveling the world for eight years. Morgan and Gabe are the same age, and as their friendship begins to take root, so does an attraction between Nate and Gracelyn.
Jewel E. Ann’s titles are always imporant, perhaps none more so than Fortuity. That Nate and Gracelyn just happen to move in next to each other, that they both just happen to be single parenting children, that they both just happen to be ready to open themselves to love–this is fortuity. When you leave things up to chance, though, you risk impermanence. You risk having to give up what you have.
There is a beautiful moment in this book when one Gracelyn tells Nate that she had dreamt of him since she was ten. She delivers a speech that made me catch my breath, and then it made me cry. For such a comedic romance, this book sure did make me cry a LOT. Perhaps that’s because death plays such a prominent role. As Gracelyn says, people had to die for her and Nate to find each other. You are aware of that in every chapter, even as Jewel E. Ann infuses her book with hope.
The heart of Fortuity appears in this poignant sentence: “Our capacity to love grows with time.” So maybe it isn’t that death needed to happen for Gracelyn and Nate to be together. Maybe what they needed was time because these two are ready to love, and they are ready to love deeply.
Let me know what you think of this book. I loved it.
What can I say besides bloody hilarious… this book tested my pelvic floor muscles on numerous occasions…. all I’m going to say is the hair cutting incident is one of the funniest I’ve ever read. I was literally crying with laughter. Couldn’t catch my breath for a second.
This book certainly has its up and downs as far as my emotions go. I’m so glad Nathaniel Hunt got his HEA. Jewels telling of Morgan was spot on … she had the whole child asking inappropriate questions at awkward times nailed. I have both laughed and cringed at some of the situations Morgan inadvertently finds herself in.
Whilst a spin off from the Transcend duet this is a much more lighted hearted addition. Definitely needed in my life right now. I shall be forever rereading the hair cut every time I need a pick me up!!
Once again great writing from Jewel, I love this authors ability to change genres. Her books never get old and always leave you with food for thought!!
I am constantly impressed by Jewel E. Ann’s versatility as a writer. If you want a mind-bending thriller filled with twists, she’s your gal. She also does contemporary romance really well. However, she does have a tendency to lure you in with humor and sweetness, only to break your heart. Don’t get me wrong. I love her wicked ways because her books are so engrossing and well-written, but I’m always holding my breath, waiting for the other shoe to drop. There’s no need to worry about that with Fortuity. It’s a bewitching romance that is quite simply a joy to read from beginning to end.
Nate was one of my favorite characters from the Transcend Duet, and I was so excited to find out he was getting his own standalone love story. Single parent romances are like catnip to me, and Fortuity has not one, but two single parents. Nate is a single dad to his 10-year-old daughter, Morgan. Gracelyn has suddenly become the guardian of her 10-year-old nephew, Gabe. Nate has spent the past decade solely focused on nurturing Morgan, leaving no room for female companionship. Meanwhile, Grace has been unlucky in love and sworn off men. The two meet when they rent neighboring beach houses for the summer.
My heart went out to Gracelyn, who is doing some mid-life reflection while navigating heartbreak, a new town, new responsibilities, and an inconvenient attraction to her new neighbor. Nate is grappling with the reality of his daughter growing up. His complete devotion to Morgan is endearing, even though it made me feel a bit inadequate about my own parenting skills.
Gracelyn is quirky and kind, while Nate is more measured but still fun. I loved how well they compliment each other as a couple and I adored them as individuals. Nate and Gracelyn are in their 40s and – as someone of a certain age – I must say I’m increasingly thankful for stories like this one that prove passion doesn’t die in your 30s. These characters are funny, sexy, and relatable.
Nate’s daughter practically steals the show. Morgan has spent her entire life traveling the world with her dad. Her maturity and intelligence come as a constant surprise. Her zest for life and extroverted nature are incredibly infectious. Every scene involving her brought a huge smile to my face.
Fortuity is a touching and exceptionally rewarding story.
I received an early copy to voluntarily read.
When I read the other 2 books in the Transcend series (which btw are a must) I was content with the ending and didn’t think a future story on Nate was needed. OHHH HOW WRONG WAS I! The author definitely knows best and I’ve never been more glad to be proven wrong. Ask my boyfriend, that never happens with him. But Jewel E Ann gets the privilege.
5 starts is not enough. I give it 10 as a minimum. When you think of that phrase “all the feels” think about this book. The story is captivating. Every minimal detail has a purpose, to steal your heart. I had chuckles, I had laughter, tears and an ugly cry too. I felt cleansed. I was already in love with Nate but I fell in love all over again. And more importantly, I fell hard for the story and every character.
For:
The socks
The fascination with hair
The innocent questions
The unapologetic stolen moments
The grins
The honesty
The bond between friends
The fatherly and motherly love
The jokes
The teasing
The surprises
The heartache
The maturity
The children…
SO MANY THINGS THAT MAKE THIS STORY REJUVENATING!! The life created was extremely well written. With every book, whether it’s a character or something they did, I always find something that could be better or something that I don’t like. BUT not here. I loved the book within the book. I loved the cleverness in it and the connections in the stories. I just loved that it made me feel complete. I never doubted that Nate deserved the world. And I’m glad we get to read his journey.
After I finished reading this story I really let it all sink in before I wrote this review. I don’t know what it was but the thoughts of the book slightly changed from when I immediately finished to now. When I first finished I thought, that was a good book. I enjoyed the fun playfulness of it. But it didn’t have the same feel at the first two books. A part of me was missing that feeling. But after I let it sink in more, I realized this was actually a great book for this couple. Nathaniel has gone through a lot in his life so something more fun and light hearted was exactly what he needed. The author did a great job capturing that and give him exactly what he needed. There seemed to be a lot of focus on the kids in the story. I wanted more Nathan and Gracelyn. But overall, I thought the story was well written and I loved the dynamic the two characters had. Jewel E Ann doesn’t disappoint!
This is the third full length book in JEA’s Transcend series. This can be read as a standalone but you will want to go back and read books 1 and 2 to get the full story. I personally would recommend starting with book 1 to get the best experience. This author is completely amazing and every work she has published has been pure perfection!! On to the review…
Oh my gosh, this is another masterpiece! I totally adore the way she creates these complex stories. They are complex yet at the same time they are so easy to get drawn in. This is one of those best to go in blind types of stories. You are guaranteed to have your heart ripped out and completely experience every emotion under the sun.
It was around 70% when my heart broke and I knew it was coming. You knew it was coming through most of the book, yet it still destroyed me. At the same time there were funny, laugh out loud moments that were perfectly created. I love each and every one of the characters in the book. I was thrilled to see Nathaniel Hunt and his daughter Morgan were getting their story told and it definitely was perfection.
#MSBB
Fortuity by Jewel E. Ann is book three in her Transcend Series, but can easily be read as a stand-alone. Fortuity tells Nathaniel’s heart-wrenching story. Yes, that Nathaniel Hunt, widower and soulmate of Daisy from Transcend and Epoch, Swayze and Griff’s books.
Gracelyn Glock is a 41 year old aunt who just became guardian of her 10 year old nephew. She had to uproot their lives. Means for her moving to a new town, new job, new everything. Her new neighbor is a worldtraveller, settling down witha witty and adorable daughter, Morgan.
Both know loss and how to deal with it in their own ways. And they check all of each others boxes, but sometimes the time’s just not right and love isn’t always enough.
Fortuity is a slow burn story that had me in tears more than one time. I was an ugly cry, puddle of goo at the feet of an epic lovestory reader. Iquickly fell in love with the characters, I was waiting breathlessly for the plot twist to take place and let me tell you, reading this wonderful story hurt like a mother. I was so rooting for Gracelyn and Nate, but both have to do what’s right and not what the heart wants. I highly, highly recommend this favorite read of mine, 5 stars.
*** 5 Hilarious, heartwarming, romantic stars ***
Jewel is one of my favorite authors and this book showcases exactly why. Every book is unique and different. Every book is amazing. This was absolutely no exception and after 106 books so far, it is one of my faves of the year. The characters are outstanding, including the two 10-year old children. Morgan, Nate’s daughter is nothing short of hilarious. I laughed so hard throughout most of this book and she was the reason behind 90% of it. Gracelyn is adorably quirky and just so darned likable and yes, she was the other 10%. Nate…what can I say (swoon swoon swoon), he’s the perfect book boyfriend. And Gabe, her nephew, is a fabulous addition to the story. The landlord, Mr. Hans is awesome too. One of those books where you feel a part of the story as you get so engaged in the interactions and what is happening. She just pulls you right in.
There is no unnecessary angst, no nastiness and no cheating. It is simply a fabulous and funny romance. It garnered happy tears at the end which is quite unusual for me. I cannot say enough good things about this book.
It can be read as a standalone, but honestly, to truly understand Nate and the journey he is on, please read Transcend and Epoch. It will mean that much more watching him get his HEA. And they are both 5-star, stellar books.
I read this book in sitting because it was simply incredible, their story was tragic and sad, but the way they found each other was beautiful, this couple will have you root for them since page 1! it will not let you go until the very end! The best book I’ve read from this author!
5+ PHENOMENAL STARS!! I know I say every Jewel E. Ann book….THIS IS MY FAVORITE…..WELL THIS IS MY FAVORITE AGAIN!! Nate and Gracelyn are EVERYTHING. As always my emotions were all over the place and I loved every single minute. You must read this book….get it now.
I loved that Nathaniel Hunt got his own story at last. Anyone who’s read Transcend and Epoch will understand. And if you haven’t read those books, they’re highly recommended, but not required prior to this. Gracelyn Glock has moved to San Diego as the guardian of her nephew and her neighbors are Nathaniel and his daughter. This a feel good story with a lot of laughs to go with the usual humor and wit that is unique to Jewel Ann. I could appreciate that Gracelyn and Nathaniel are both in their 40s and neither were looking for their own HEA. Their kids become friends so naturally they become friends of sorts, more than just neighbors. I loved the dialogue and the conversations with the kids outshines everything else, even the romance itself. Both Gracelyn and Nate have some baggage, and at this stage in life, they’re mature enough to see things as they are. I was on board with their relationship because it was fun and sexy, but I didn’t actually feel or see the moment where love trickled in even though they were on the potential path to permanency – obviously, it was coming, though. Other than that, this book has all the makings for a nonstop entertaining read.
Oh my word, this book, the emotions, the kids, and Nate and Gracelyn. I have to say that I was mess reading this book, laughing one minute from the best banter and conversation between the adults and then between the kids and the adults, and then sometimes the very next line would have me tearing up because of the emotions these adults go through to make sure their kids are happy despite what they themselves may want. Jewel E. Ann is a queen at being able to write all the words where she has her readers laughing at one line and then tearing up at the very next line. She also has this wonderful ability to write some of the very best characters ever – they are quirky and different and so very relatable on so many levels.
If you have read Transcend then you may have met Nate and Morgan in that book. This book is set years later and can be read as a stand alone and should be read by everyone. The learning, and understanding, and love, and the loss is so very real that, I believe, everyone could relate to some aspect of this book and feel for Gracelyn, Gabe, Nate, and Morgan. Even Mr. Hans too.I am so very happy that I read this book. Well done Jewel E Ann.
