Like many other JEA fans, I was patiently awaiting Nate’s story. Why you may ask? Well if you haven’t read Transcend/Epoch by this author, then you would not know what the heck I am talking about. Fortuity can be read as a standalone, but why would you? After you read Fortuity, I implore you to read Transcend/Epoch. I promise you, it’s like nothing you have read before. Now if you are a fan of JEA then you have read the duet and couldn’t wait for Professor Hunt’s HEA.
Fortuity takes place 8 years after Epoch, Morgan is now a precocious 10-year-old that has been traveling the world with her dad, something he was going to do with his former wife. Their last stope before heading back home to Madison, WI is San Diego, renting a beach house from the sweet landlord Hugh Hunt. Ah but Morgan being the most friendliest and adoring neighbor notices new neighbors in the form of Gracelyn and her nephew Gabe, which she became his legal guardian after his parent’s tragic death.
This book brought so much laugh in the form of Morgan and her inquisitive mind, it also brought so many tears. Thoughtful insights in love. I cannot really put into words how this book truly moved me. It’s been a day and I still cannot forget the humor and tears. I want just sit down today and re-read it.
JEA never disappoints, she has a way of making all her books unique and refreshing. I love that the couple was more mature for sure. Their character development, especially Nate’s, is just one you want to keep forever.
The author published early. She published on the day that my mom would have been 77 years-old. Instead of being melancholy missing my mom, I was laughing at loud with Morgan’s antics and watching Nate and Gracelyn falling in love.

If you’re like me and have read the Transcend Duet and it’s still lingering in your heart years later then stop what you are doin and GRAB THIS RIGHT NOW! To say I was beyond moved by the first two books is an understatement, and now I don’t even know where to begin when it comes to Fortuity. Beautiful seems like such a small word to describe what this book is.
Powerfully emotional, utterly heartbreaking at times while overflowing with joy and laughter at others. Fortuity goes so far beyond just your average romance. This book goes deep into the reality of soul deep unconditional love. The kind of love nothing, and I mean nothing can truly stop.
Nathaniel and Gracelyn’s story will definitely have you cracking up regularly but the heart and emotion behind it take is so much further than any romantic comedy I have every read. It’s not often you find something that is cracking you up while it’s also cracking your heart and putting it back together better than it was before. There were moments in this book that were so beautiful I burst out sobbing just because they filled my heart with so much joy. There were moments that were so hilarious my stomach hurt from laughing. There were moments my heart hurt so much for these characters I had a steady stream of tears running down my face. This book is so many things all at once I’ll never be able to write enough words to express how much I loved it.
5+ Stars
Everyone stop what you are doing and read this book. Oh wow, what a beautifully compelling story Jewel E Ann has written. This author always has the knack of pulling every emotion from me. Her characters are wonderfully quirky and addictive, so much so that they left their mark on me, never to be forgotten.
Nathaniel Hunt is a single dad to Morgan who is ten going on twenty. Morgan made me smile many a time throughout this book with her constant I know it all remarks, Morgan was a dream to read.
Gracelyn is a smart sassy woman who has a big heart and a great sense of humour which made me giggle constantly. Having suffered a recent tragic loss Gracelyn and her nephew Gabe, who is so so sweet and quite reserved, need this time away to bond and to grieve and have some much needed breathing space; they are both feeling vulnerable and raw.
Having loved Nate from the first two books Transcend and Epoch I was eager to know where he would go from where I last left him; I was not to be disappointed. Two adults in denial dealing with loss and endless problems in their lives, then add two hilarious children into the mix and you have a definite winner. A slow burn of emotions which gradually slowly blossoms into full bloom. This story stole my heart.
Although this can be read as a standalone in my opinion you are seriously missing out if you do not read the first two books because Nate played such a pivotal role in both of those books which for me made Fortuity that much more special. This story was everything and more that I anticipated it would be. I cannot recommend it highly enough. Absolutely outstanding!!
3.5 stars
Fortuity by Jewel E. Ann was a fun filled adventure till it turned into an angst fest that again ended in sweet happily ever after. You can find the author’s special brand of smart sarcasm and witty banter in this story along with a taste of her torturing emotional writing.
First let me tell what I LOVED about this story. That is Morgan and Gabe. Single dad Anatomy professor Nathaniel was determined to bring up his daughter in a wide world and so they travelled all over the world and went to all kinds of adventurous trips. As a result Morgan is extremely smart, mature, knowledgeable, open minded, friendly and intuitive for her ten years of age. Whereas single Gracelyn has been given the responsibility to raise her nephew Gabe after his parents’ sudden death. So he is the moody, brooding, silent and aloof guy dealing with a lot of pain. Morgan and Nat was supposed to be temporary neighbours but two families’ lives get entagled. And it was fun to read all those awkward, quirky, foot-in-mouth moments. I loved to read about Nathaniel’s journey as single dad and Gracelyn’s journey as a guardian. I loved them individually. But I didn’t love them together until the author decided to pull them apart.
Having said that, this is not my favourite story by her. I had a hard time getting into Nathaniel and Gracelyn’s story. I couldn’t feel the soul searing chemistry that the author usually brings instantly. And I didn’t feel their bond until very late in the story. But once it hit, it hit me hard. And I was like ” YES PLEASE KILL MY HEART AND FILL ME WITH HAPPINESS”! I am not sure if this disconnect was due to the fact that I have not read Transcend and Epoch yet. But I am pretty sure it can be read as standalone. Or may be my expectations were too high! Nate made me swoon with all his charm, confidence, vulnerability, sexiness and big heart. I liked Gracelyn with her eccentricity and smartassness and awkwardness. But together, I didn’t feel the spark till very end.
Fortuity has moments of brilliance that makes a story essentially Jewel E. Ann. But this is not the story I will suggest if you want to begin the epic journey of reading Jewel E. Ann.

5 Fortuitous stars!!!
This book was beyond amazing. I loved every second that I spent reveling in every word crafted so finely to the pages. Nathaniel Hunt and Gracelyn Glock were two people that fate had chosen to place together, but not without some trials.
Nate is a single dad who has spent the last eight years traveling the world with his precocious daughter. Morgan is more worldly-wise for age than most ten-year-olds, but she wears the knowledge and understanding with ease. Still, when given the chance to simply be a child for once, she relishes in it.
Grace and Gabe have suffered a recent loss and have come to the beach to heal, and gather their thoughts. Meeting Nate and Morgan is an unexpected blessing and one each of them takes to their heart.
Hugh Hands, or Huge Hands as Gabe mistakenly calls him, is the owner of the beach houses that Nate and Grace are renting. He’s a super, fun character filled with wisdom and care. This book will fill you with warmth. It’ll make you cry, smile, and finally, sigh, with how complete the ending is. This story will stay with me for a long time. It’s a definite One-Clicker. Grab your copy today and get ready to feel all the feels.
I’ve read book by this author before and I love her style of writing and I always look forward to reading her books. This is part of a series Transcend Series and is book #3. This book can be read as a stand-alone also.
This book is a real second chance love story that you will love and this book will have you laughing out loud in parts and you will not want to miss it.
Book #1 Transcend
Book #2 Epoch
Book #3 Fortuity
Gracelyn is such a beautiful quirky women that you cant help but love especially with her quirky ways and look on life. All of a sudden a very tragic accident happens and she is now the legal guardian to her nephew Gaberiel who’s 10. She never actually wanted children herself and she was on a ban on all men so this single parent thing is totally new to her and you can tell, she’s trying to take it in her stride though. She and Gabe have had to work together because of the completely change to their life.
Nathaniel ‘ Nate ‘ has been through so much in his life especially with losing his wife and now he’s a single father to his daughter Morgan. He has spent a lot of time travelling with her and trying not to teach her with only technology but life and they are both spending the last of the summer at the beach before she goes to actual school. Hes not expecting anything at all and when Grace comes into his life and he sees her weirdly funny things she does she touches his heart. Nate is a beautiful, caring loyal man and father and when these two families come together will everything change forever?
( NO SPOILERS )
This author can write absolutely fantastic characters you will really love them both and the children are the best. I love how laid back, sassy and a really quirky funny woman Gracelyn is and Nate is so protective and strong and his daughter is so old headed she’s hilarious at times and Molly is awesome. This author really makes the reader connect with each of the characters and you cant help but love them, oh my they have all been through so much together that you cant help but love them completely. The chemistry that they have between them both is so powerful and the love that is developing before there eyes is very unexpected that they didn’t expected a second chance at love. I was rooting for them both too because after all they have been through you couldn’t help but hope that everything works out for them all.
This book will have your emotions and your heart in a vice at times and this book is so powerful and raw but also funny in parts, it will have you loving every page and not being able to put this book down. I always love books that have epilogue too as i feel that it always adds something extra special to the stories. Thank you to the author and the publishers for allowing me to read an early copy of this book. ARC provided in exchange for a complimentary honest voluntary review. I loved reading this book and so will you I highly recommend that you read this book. I am going to go back and read the other two though because even though this is a stand-alone I feel like I’ve missed out on something but that’s just me.
5 STARS!!! A poignant, unforgettable, heart-wrenching love story that will bring you to tears and leave you believing in second (third or maybe fourth) chances. I am always moved by this author and this story was nothing short of perfection!
Gracelyn has just had her solitary life flipped upside down. She lost a brother and gained a kid. At forty-one it was not what she pictured for herself. But she will do her best, even when she’s clueless. I adored her.
When she moves her and Gabe to a temporary beach house to find a new normal, they both get more than they could have imagined. It’s their new beginning as a family.
They move into the beach house and there is a little girl Gabe’s age who lives right next door and life gets more interesting. She’s a precocious little girl with a zest for life who is only there for the summer. Morgan is exactly what Gabe needs to keep him in the moment and be a kid. This sweet little girl comes along with her sexy, single dad Nathaniel. He’s a professor who has been traveling with his daughter around the world for the past eight years. He wanted her to experience real life.
Nathaniel is good. He is a dedicated father who loves his daughter with all his heart. He wants to protect her from the pain life can deliver. Nate has been alone for ten years and isn’t quite sure what to make of Gracelyn at first. It doesn’t take long for them to develop a mutual attraction.
Nathaniel may have been out of the dating game for years, but he still has all the right moves. The tension that builds is nothing short of passionate and sizzling. Gracelyn is resistant because they have an end date and she’s been running from the ghosts of her past for a long time. Eventually she realizes that not getting to experience Nathaniel is not something she is willing to live her life without.
Love is hard and messy and complicated. Time and distance won’t diminish their connection. Gracelyn and Nathaniel will need to navigate through it all to get their HEA, all while parenting two impressionable pre-teens which leads to lots of comic relief.
This story delves into loss and the life you are left with after. It’s about healing and letting go. A story so profound that it easily slips into my Top Ten Reads of 2020. I cannot say it enough…This book was INCREDIBLE! Days later and I am still in awe of the beauty of the writing and the depth of which this story touched my heart. This is author is a favorite for a reason and this book was one of her best.
Fortuity! Book 3 in the Transcend Series ! Saving the Best for Last!
I absolutely loved this series! Nate was my favorite in Transcend and book 2 definitely went to grocery store guy but book 3 is back to Nate!
Guess what? Nate isn’t the only character to melt my heart in this one! There’s Morgan and Gabe and the adorable neighbor Mr. Hans! Last but not least the lady who had the best quote in the book…
“Love isn’t an emotion. It is a force “
Gracelyn
This story will make you laugh and cry but your heart will be happy in the end!
5 stars!
Wow, what a book! A funny, poignant, beautifully written story all about second chances, moving on and finding what you want in life, and a stunningly gorgeous and romantic love story that completely swept me away. Realistic, and all-consuming, this book sucked me in and I loved every moment of it.
This is the third book in the Transcend series, a spin-off to the original duet, and it can absolutely be read as a standalone, with very little crossover. Just beware that it contains spoilers for the original duet.
I, like most readers, fell in mad love with Professor Nathaniel Hunt in the Transcent Duet, and I was beyond thrilled when I learned that he would be getting his own book. A loving and devoted single father, if ever anybody was deserving of a happy ending, it’s him, and I loved watching him finally get his.
Gracelyn is a 41-year-old woman loving her self-imposed single life after a series of heartbreaks, when the death of her brother and sister-in-law leaves her the legal guardian for her ten-year-old nephew. Children weren’t anything she planned for her life, but she takes it in stride, determined to do the best she can for Gabriel. So, she uproots her life and moves to his home in San Diego, and the two of them move into a rental on the beach as they settle in to the new life together.
Nathaniel and his daughter, Morgan, have been travelling the world for the last eight years. He’s given her a childhood full of incredible experiences, and now they’ve returned to the US to settle back into ‘normal’ life. They have rented the beach-house right next door to Gracelyn for their final summer before returning home.
The set-up is great, and with little Morgan desperate to make a friend, Gracelyn and Nathaniel are brought together as their kids play and hang out, and sparks fly. It’s funny, and lots of fun, and Gracelyn and Nathaniel very quickly find themselves wrestling with feelings neither of them were expecting to feel. Both of them are committed to their single lives, and to their kids, and they don’t have room for anything else. But their attraction is strong and their chemistry is undeniable, and the flirting and banter soon leads to them breaking their celibacy and just going for it.
Every moment is just gorgeous as they open up to each other and explore all that they are feeling. They’ve both been through a lot, they’ve experienced gut-wrenching loss and grief, but they find something special together, and it’s gorgeous to watch them allowing themselves to feel, and embrace their mad passion for each other. But their lives are on different sides of the country, and both of them are trying to settle into a new normal. A lasting relationship seems impossible… or does it.
This story plays out beautifully. It’s unexpected and brings the feels, and this wonderful sense of anticipation as you wonder how they’re going to figure it all out. I could feel everything between Nate and Graceyln, and I loved them together so, so much. Their relationship is mature, honest, functional and blissfully playful, and they have this feeling of ‘meant to be’ about them. They don’t have an easy road, but I loved watching them work through it all to finally get their HEA.
As with the other books I’ve read by Jewel, the characters are just phenomenal. I was already in mad love with Nathaniel, but seeing him as a romantic hero just about did me in. He’s funny, sweet, caring and so freaking sexy. He’s just perfection, and I loved him so much! Gracelyn is fantastic – funny, strong and confident, but with realistic vulnerabilities, and a wicked sense of humor, I could relate to her, and she’s such a wonderful match for Nate. The big treat in this book though, is little Morgan. Now ten years old, she is intelligent, adorably precocious and shamelessly inquisitive. I adored her interactions with her dad, with Gracelyn and with Gabriel, she made me laugh so many times, and she stole every scene she is in. She’s a wonderful reflection of her Dad and their incredible relationship, and she brought so much to the book.
This is such a special read. Funny, emotional, sweet, sexy and beautifully romantic with so much heart, it’s everything that I want in a contemporary romance. I absolutely loved it!
5 stars.
I can honestly say that Transcend & Epoch are in my top 10 all time favorite books ever! And that has a lot to do with Nathaniel Hunt. I was always #TeamNate. My heart hurt and felt so empty for Nate. So when I heard he was getting his own book, I was thrilled and yes absolutely terrified! Because who could possibly be good enough for Nate?!? I absolutely love Jewel E Ann’s writing. I’m not sure any other author has the same ability as she does to turn you emotionally inside out and squeeze the life out of you and then bring you back to life and you actually thank her for it!!!!! But that’s what she does with this book.
Fortuity is laugh out loud funny. Gracelyn is perfect despite her self imposed flawed insecurities. And even though Nate can be quite controlling in an over the top way lol, the two of them together are incredible. Stolen kisses, swoon, first dibs, swoon, says the most amazing things, double swoon. Nate has my heart. This book is about unconditional love, family, trust, and healing. Nate’s daughter, Morgan, is absolutely precious. But gah the feels, all the emotions. I cried and I mean cried hard. I couldn’t see the words on my kindle hard. For pages hard. But as she so talently can, Jewel sews all the torn pieces back together into the most beautiful romance. Fortuity takes top place in front of T & E, a 2020 Fav, and adding it to my all time top 10 Fav’s Ever!!!
Jewel E Ann is a new to me author. I’ve seen her work and may even have previous books on my TBR, but this is the first that I’ve read.
I very much enjoyed Fortuity, but am struggling a little bit with how to tell you WHY I liked it. Gracelyn (with her nephew Gabe) and Nate (with his daughter Morgan) are both in a time of transition when they meet as neighbors on the San Diego beach.
This is not what I would consider a typical romance in that there is no one courting or pursing a relationship with the other, it’s a relationship that develops over time and it is sweet to watch them become ingrained in each other’s lives. I appreciated how in almost all situations they made sure to put the welfare of the kids above other considerations.
While this is a story about people coming together, it’s also a story about healing and humor. Mr Hans (the shared landlord), the kids, and Gracelyn’s insecurities create several laugh out loud moments.
Overall, this is a sweet and sometimes funny read. It may be my first Jewel E Ann book, but it will not be the last.
I want to preface that I did not read the first two books that came before this book. I definitely want to go back and read them now! I guess there are some spoilers in this book, however, this totally works as a stand alone. It only made me more curious about the first 2. This was so darn good! I laughed, I cried, I was fully invested. Jewel E Ann is masterful at twisting and turning and keeping you guessing. Her books are never predictable and I love it!
*sigh*
This book is one of the reasons JEA is a forever favorite. She made me laugh one minute, cry the next, and swoon in between. I loved Fortuity and am so happy to see Nate get his hea. I admit, even knowing going in that this was more of a “romcom”, I kept expecting the bottom to fall out. I’ve learned I can never let my guard down when it comes to JEA and her books, but I’m here to say my worries were thankfully unfounded!
Fortuity was like a balm to my soul. What a fun, heartfelt, heart-melting, character driven story this book was. If you’ve read the Transcend duet, you’ve probably, like most of us, wanted, no needed, Nate to find love again. That man suffered so much loss, more than any one person deserved, that it was only right he get his own happily every after. And how perfect it ended up being! Nate, Morgan, Gracelyn, and Gabe created such a wonderful family, my heart just swelled with love for them all.
FORTUITY is the third instalment in Jewel E Ann’s contemporary, adult TRANSCEND erotic, slightly paranormal, romance story line This is forty-six year old, professor Nathaniel Hunt, and forty-one year old, Gracelyn Glock’s story line. FORTUITY can be read as a stand alone without any difficulty. Any important information is revealed where necessary but I recommend reading the series in order for Nathaniel Hunt’s back story.
Told from dual first person perspectives (Nate and Gracelyn) FORTUITY follows the building romance and relationship between forty-six year old, professor Nathaniel Hunt, and forty-one year old, Gracelyn Glock. Gracelyn Glock is a single parent, raising her late brother’s son Gabe after a tragic accident that saw Gracelyn become an instant parent. Refusing to uproot ten year old Gabe, Gracelyn moves to Gabriel’s home town of San Diego where she will meet and fall in love with Professor Nathaniel Hunt. Nate and his ten year old daughter Morgan have rented a beach house for the summer next door to Graceyn and Gabe, before embarking on the final leg of their eight year journey around the world but Nate never expected to fall in love in the final few months, a few months where he will lose his heart to a woman who is unable to continue their journey together. What ensues is the building but tearful romance and relationship between Nate and Gracelyn, and the potential fall out as Nate walks away from the woman he loves leaving a heart broken Gracelyn in the wake.
Gracelyn Glock knows love, and struggles with memories from the past, memories that often keep our heroine from moving forward. Meeting Nathaniel Hunt finds Gracelyn hoping for a future but a future that will have to be put on hold while she raises the son of the brother she has lost. Nathaniel Hunt and his daughter have spent eight years travelling the world but Nathaniel knows it is time to settle down. Having lost the only two women he has ever loved, Nate never expected to find love a third time, a love that is stronger than the other two combined.
The relationship between Nate and Gracelyn is one of immediate attraction, forced together by circumstance and time. Gracelyn knows that their time together is soon to come to a close but Nate is hoping for something more. The $ex scenes are intimate and passionate but mostly implied.
We are introduced to Gracelyn’s nephew Gabe, as well as her mother Sharon and father Forest : Nathaniel’s daughter Morgan, and his parents; and Gracelyn and Nathaniel’s landlord Mr. Hans who sees more than everyone else.
FORTUITY is an emotional yet heart warming story of family and responsibility; of letting go and moving forward; of second chances, love and happily ever after. The premise is poignant and impassioned –I may have cried a tear or twenty: the romance is seductive and passionate; the characters are animated and playful. FORTUITY is a wonderfully warm and spirited story of the power of love, acceptance and happily ever afters.
When I read Transcend and Epoch, I was so upset because I loved Nate, wanted Morgan to have a mother, and yet I felt that Swayze belonged with Griff. It hurt so much to see Nate give up on Swayze and clear the path for her wedding with Griff. And the scene when he comes back to give her away at the wedding, Morgan a toddler! It was a heart wrenching scene. I am so glad to have the opportunity to read Nate’s HEA, it’s time!
I loved Gracelyn; she sees herself as a hot mess, but I saw a woman with a big heart who hasn’t really found her place. At forty-one, she’s had three heartbreaks and she’s understandably fed up. I understood why she has a man ban in place and it’s cute that she thinks she can hold it up when she meets Nate.
She’s just inherited a ten year old nephew, after the tragic death of her brother and sister-in-law. She doesn’t feel competent enough for the role, but determined to do the best she can. It was very open hearted of her to move from her home in Idaho to San Diego so that Gabriel, her nephew, could stay in his school and keep his friends. She couldn’t pay the upkeep of her brother’s house, so she moved to a rental that would be near her new job and Gabe’s school. In this rental, which is beach-side, there are also new renters next door: Nate and his daughter Morgan, newly arrived from their eight year travels around the world.
Nate had been taking Morgan around the world, giving her a world-class education. Now they decided it was time to go back home to Wisconsin and start formal schooling. One last fling was decided to be spent in any of three cities in the United States, and the choice was San Diego. You could say it was fortuity that these two lost souls found each other to complete their hearts.
This is a rich book; rich in anecdotes, pretty little moments of tenderness, funny moments, grieving and yearning. Apart from the main story, there are moments that don’t have anything to do with the forward plot, but they happen and they give you an idea of who the characters are. They are simply charming and lovable.
Initially, the meet up was light-hearted. The kids meeting and forming a friendship was fun. It was lovely to see a grieving young boy be bossed around by a very worldly and opinionated little girl. She certainly was instrumental in helping Gabe come out of his mourning bubble. Morgan was a very smart cookie, very literate, with an extraordinary vocabulary and she also talked non-stop. She was the perfect medicine for Gabe’s sadness!
And Nate and Gracelyn! Yum! He reminded her of Jamie in Outlander, so she was drooling the first days after meeting him. Then she started to know him, to learn all his layers, admire his father role towards Morgan, learn from him and fall in love for him. A summer affair, they said, what a joke!
I loved watching Nate fall in love with Gracelyn. After all the women he’s loved, he needed someone different and he found her. She’s a little insecure, quirky, beautiful, with such a kind heart. He watched her flourish from a fun aunt to a mother while tending to Gabe, develop a close friendship to his daughter, tie his heart with many strings.
This book made me cry and laugh, it was so delightful and delicious. It was a slow burn because both characters were so reticent. It made the reading more delicious. I would love to read more about these characters, since I just didn’t have enough of their HEA!
Fortuity was a beautiful and heartfelt story of love, friendship and second chances. I absolutely loved Transend and Epoch, and I was so excited to be able to catch up with Professor Nathaniel Hunt and continue his journey. Nate’s past has been filled with loss. He has spent the last 8 years fulfilling his late wife’s dream of travelling the world with their daughter, Morgan. His sole focus over the last 10 years has been his daughter and being the best Dad he could possibly be while seeing the world. The last stop on their trip has taken them to the beaches of San Diego. Nate could never imagine that he would be leaving a part of his heart in San Diego when it is time to return home to Wisconsin.
Gracelyn unexpectedly finds her self in the biggest and most important roll of her life. After a tragic accident, she has been left in charge of her 10 year old nephew, Gabe. She is not sure if she can handle the responsibility, but she will do anything to make Gabe’s transition as smooth as possible after the loss of his parents. Gracelyn is no stranger to heartbreak and does what she can to protect her heart with a three strikes man ban theory. When she meets her gorgeous, sexy, amazing single father neighbor for the summer, she finds it hard to maintain her self imposed man ban.
Gracelyn and Nate’s summer was full of sun filled days, new life experiences, embarrassing laugh out loud moments that made them appreciate all that life has to offer. They built life long connections forming their own little family that leaves Gracelyn and Nate questioning their plans for the future, and I could not wait to see how their journey ended. Fortuity was beautifully written capturing all the emotions and heartbreak that life throws at you. Both Nate and Gracelyn have been hit with life obstacles, but with grace and resiliency, they are able to overcome and form the most amazing and beautiful life creating a home full of hope and filled with love. Loved getting a small glimpse into Swayze and Griff’s life, and I am hoping we get to read more about Morgan and Gabe and what life has in store for them.
Nate is everything! He is raising his daughter, Morgan, traveling the world. She is now ten. Their last stop before home is San Diego. Gracelyn has been given custody of her ten year old nephew, Gabe. They move next door to Nate with Mr. Hans, their elderly landlord. What started as attraction, turns to friendship, and then sex. Love was not supposed to enter the picture. Can they find their way to a happily ever after? This book has all the feels! 5 amazing stars
An Epic Love Story
If ever a book should be made into a movie, it’s this one. Every word paints a scene in your mind of these beautiful characters, their every thought and emotion comes through in living color. I was pretty fearful that I would have a permanent smile on my face (kind
of like Heath Ledger as the Joker) through most of this book. Morgan almost steals the show, but this is Nathaniel Hunt’s book and does this man shine. Gracelyn is perfect trying to navigate a life for her and Gabe, but her and Nate together turns this into the perfect love story. No undue angst, just pure emotion. A family brought together by tragedy that gives us hope, especially in these times. Bonus stars for the name of Nate’s manuscript. I can’t recommend this book enough
I have yet to read a Jewel book that didn’t destroy me emotionally and Fortuity is no different! Gracelyn becomes the person responsible for her 10 year old nephew when his parents die in an accident. She has been the free spirit who just lived life and isn’t sure she has what it takes to parent a 10 year old. Nate was widowed when his wife died giving birth to Morgan. For 8 years they have traveled the world and let life be her classroom. One last stop before going home lands them as neighbors to Gracelyn and Gabe. Can 1 summer on the beach mend their broken hearts?
Transcend was my first Jewel book so this series will always hold a special place in my heart. I was so excited to read Fortuity and follow Nate’s journey to happiness. Absolutely loved Morgan and her straight forward, tell what she knows personality. Gracelyn and Gabe brought a grief with them into the story that affects her decisions. I laughed out loud so many times and cried when Jewel broke my heart. Some how she always manages to put it back together again and make me love her even more. This can be read as a standalone but I think you will love it even more if you read Transcend and Epoch first. I will happily read any words this woman writes!
I loved this book. It is sweet and sorrowful. It is funny and poignant. It is an amazing journey for all the characters involved.
Professor Nate Hunt and his ten-year-old daughter, Morgan, steal every scene they’re in. Morgan is not only inquisitive but also loquacious. Her nonstop stream of questions and comments reminded me how young children’s personalities fill every space they occupy. Gracelyn Glock and her new charge, nephew Gabe, bring out all sorts of feelings. They’re full of life, but the shadow of their recent loss is long, and the path moving forward is unclear. Toss in a quirky widower/landlord, and you have the makings of a humorous romance (not quite rom-com).
The foursome’s summer on the beaches of San Diego is more than just building sand castles. They learn and grow. They accept life’s little and monumental changes. They flirt. They have fun. Their stolen kisses and flirty banter lead to a bittersweet goodbye. Is this just another example of “summer lovin” or can their attraction withstand absence and the test of time?
Jewel E. Ann’s Fortuity is definitely a standalone and it is definitely a spin-off from her Transcend duet. No need to have read the prior books, but for those of us who have, you get a few literary Easter eggs tossed in. Be prepared to laugh, gasp, cry and squeal. Author Jewel E. Ann has again given her readers characters to care about and fall in love with along a bumpy road to a happily ever after.
