Fortuity is one of my top reads this year and it’s only the first book in a duet! I am dying to get my hands on Serenity to see how this amazing tale unfolds. I am bursting with excitement and so many feels yet with just enough uncertainty to keep me on edge. Thankfully book 2 is coming in a couple weeks.
I aim to be vague here and not write spoilers – please know this struggle is legit. I am fangirling really hard and having to contain it. I tried to post a note to the author and had to keep deleting and starting over so I wouldn’t give anything away.
Every aspect of this story has been impeccably written. Let me tell you – these characters are so completely fantastic. I love dual point of view. Getting inside both of our main characters heads takes a story to another level and I freakin’ love it. These characters were perfectly developed with flawlessly articulated back story. As I was reading about Faith’s younger years – I could feel and visualize everything like I was right there with her. All from this author’s fantastic words. Faith’s childhood and teenage years were not filled with rainbows and unicorns. No stable support system, no family, no one to show her affection and love. On top of all that – illness and a transplant. Not many of us could survive all of that, yet Faith does and goes on to help others. Thank goodness for her social worker – she stayed with her, encouraged her and grew to love her. Truly spectacular. And I must say, if it was physically possible to reach in to a story and throat punch characters, I would have laid out a couple. Everything about Faith, her character, determination, giving heart is all utter perfection. One of my all time favorite heroines.
Then we meet Dillan *sighs* he’s gorgeous and comes from a wealthy family however he too has suffered a substantial loss and still struggles to cope. When he finally meets Faith – their chemistry is so excellent – I could feel it while reading. Together these two characters really blossom, their bond seems unbreakable.
However there’s a plot twist. A significant one. (I love these by the way) Will their love and strong devotion to each other survive this reveal? Or will the pain and constant reminder of loss come between them? Gah I am dying to know all the answers! I have no doubt Rochelle is going to deliver and epic ending in Serenity. As you may have already noticed – I am consumed with all things Faith & Dillan. I’m rooting for their extraordinary bond and love to carry them through anything life has left to throw at them. As if they haven’t endured enough. Fingers are crossed.
Rochelle was a fairly new author to me. I read Until Leo after seeing it in a giveaway on Facebook (I didn’t win). However, I was intrigued enough to buy it. I loved the Until Series and figured if Aurora Rose Reynolds picked Rochelle to write in her Kindle World then that was all the convincing I needed. I am so stinkin’ happy I went for it. To say Rochelle has hit her writing stride here in this duet – is a magnificent understatement.
Wow! This story! There are too many emotions and not enough words to explain how the first of this duet made me feel.
Faith had an awful, neglected childhood that led to a catastrophic moment. What follows wasn’t much better and led to another moment that soon became the catalyst to one of the biggest challenges a person can face. As she comes out on the other side with a determination to succeed at the things she can control in her life, she begins to pay it forward in any way she can, reaching out to others who share a similar background to her own.
Faith wasn’t looking for a relationship when she meets Dillon, but recognizes that there is a strong pull between them. It never crosses her mind to fight against it. She willingly yields to him as he pulls her into his life which is so far removed from anything she has ever known. And suddenly, the life she has known is filled with happiness, love and laughter.
Dillon is instantly drawn to Faith from the first moment she jumped into his car and began to berate him. With a little additional matchmaking to throw these two together he finds himself claiming her as his own. Faith is all he ever needs and nothing will ever come between them.
I loved that Dillon and his family gave Faith acceptance in their lives when she had never known what a true family looked like. My heart hurt for her throughout so much of this story as she was left alone to struggle so when she finally finds a safe place to land I wanted to cheer. Dillon brought happiness into her life and she helped to ease the pain he carried in his own heart.
This is a fast paced read with high angst at the beginning, due to Faith’s life conditions. The rest was relatively low (at least until the end!) as this couple come together and begin their relationship. Through it all however, I kept waiting for the other shoe to drop. Much like Faith herself did. I knew this was going to end in a cliffhanger and I suspected what might happen but even still, my heart shattered along with Faith’s when it arrived.
I was deeply invested in this heroine and her story and loved that fate brought Dillon into her life. She deserved good things and even better people to be there for her. I need to know that she’s going to be alright and that she’ll get her HEA but unfortunately, I’m not going to learn that until the next book Serenity is released. So glad that will be soon!
Omg this book is so beautiful!
Fortuity is the first book in the Fortuity duet by Rochelle Paige.
I really loved Faith. She’s one of my favorite heroine. She is girl that faced so much adversity in her young life.
After a life of neglect and adversity she lands in the foster care only to more neglect and were she gets very sick.
Oh Dillon was so swoony.. He was perfect for Faith. Loved that his family was so accepting of Faith.
Omg that cliffhanger..can’t wait for Serenity and for what’s next for them.
Really beautiful book. 5 stars
From the day she was brought in to this world Faith was at an disadvantage, her mother was an addict, and having a child wasn’t on her high list of priorities, and it definitely shown through in her parenting. Faith learned at an early age how to fend for herself, because her mother was always to busy feeding her habits to care if there was supper on the table or if Faith made it to school on time. But unfortunately for Faith that was her only option for stability, that is until the day her mother passed away, then she found herself at the mercy of the foster care system, and while parts of it may have been better than living with her mother, it was still a very lacking childhood. One that cost her far more than she had to give, and it wound up almost taking her life, until a caring caseworker came along and started to set things straight, and help get her on a path to a better life. Before long Faith finally felt like she was making strides toward a better life, making it through high school, then onto college, and doing her part to pay it forward to others in the system, by showing them there is light at the other end of their dark tunnel. She has to admit that it feels good to be helping others find their way, it brings her so much joy… but she never expected her generous ways to bring her love.
Fortuity is a beautifully crafted, gut-wrenching tale that will creep into your heart and leave it forever changed. Following Faith on her troubling journey was tough at times, but as she weathered the storm, I began to see that good things were on the horizon for her, and before long it began to take on a much more uplifting feel. I cannot wait to see how it all plays out for her and Dillion, I am hoping there is a happily ever after in the works… but I will just have to wait and see! I must say I really enjoyed this first installment, it was engaging, had a very plausible feel to it, and it tugged on the heartstrings more than a few times! Highly recommend you get your hands on this one, it comes with a wide variety of the feels, and is certain to speak to your heart!!
Fortuity is just one of those books that every reader needs to experience for themselves and which, without a doubt will mean something different to each of the readers. I was completely immersed within in the first few paragraphs of this book. Every page is filled with such raw, powerful feeling, which came across in every word. This bittersweet story took me on a rollercoaster emotional journey from tears to joy, and for a brief moment, I could not help myself but wonder just how much faith and hope have profoundly shaped the very basis of my own life. Faith and Dillon’s story had personal meaning for me and I must thank the author for reminding me that faith can indeed move mountains.
Faith is a bright, unselfish young woman, who at a very young age learned that her only chance at surviving what fate has dealt her, would be to proactively make the best of it. Given a second chance, Faith begins her journey of bringing hope to the lives of others and along the way, finds her calling in life. For the first time in her life, Faith knows happiness. Not only does she find love, acceptance and an understanding of what caring and compassion is about.
Faith meets Dillon, who is dealing with his own emotional demons. Together they find healing but will faith and hope be enough to get them through what can possibly be the hardest challenge either have had to face? I cannot wait to see where book 2 in this duet will take me. I most definitely, without a doubt, recommend this book
