I will have to try to read this one again sometime.
I have read the novella and loved it.
But for some strange reason I couldn’t get into this one.
I ended up dnf’ing.
Having read the prequel, I was ready to find out why Livia left. This really delivered. The editing was well done – just a few misses.
The story picks up five years after the prequel with Gray going through the motions of living. He is at a charity fundraiser, and sees the missing love of his life across the room. He chases her down, only to watch her run away – again. WHY did she leave him? Why is she in Chicago? WHERE has she been??? Gray eventually tracks Livia down, intent on going to her after a board meeting, only to walk in and find her sitting at the table. The rest of the story takes us on a journey of lost love, sacrifice, heartbreak, patience, forgiveness, and healing. The reason Livia left is heartbreaking and tragic – to go from the emotional high of accepting Gray’s proposal to the lowest low of her sacrifice is just devastating. Amazingly, she persevered through her personal hell, thankful every step of the way for her memories of true love and the encouragement of the stalwart Grant. Gray never really let her go, and once he found her again, he vowed to fight to keep her forever.
This was a really wonderful story – focusing more on the hope and strength that can be found in real love instead of the betrayal and horror that Livia lived through. So looking forward to the stories of the remaining brothers. Enjoy!
This is a great start to the Colloway Brothers series. Gray and Livia gave been through so much. The story is gut wrenching and sad but sexy and hopeful also.
Oh. My.
I just….. I just can’t even…..
There’s about 3-5 quotes/statements, whatever you want to call them, that in all my reading over the last few years have imprinted so brightly into my psyche, that I can’t ever let them go. Those are the little words that help me when I’m feeling down, help ground me, help cheer me up, help me believe in romance. Some of these words may not mean much to someone else and may not make sense as to why they sit so strongly with me – and to be honest…. a couple of them – I don’t even know! I just know they hit a spot on my heart. And then BAM! What do you know…. Kelly shoves a paragraph in my face that joins those rare few others, that will forever sit imprinted (think a-la Jacob in Twilight!) These are the words you can recite exactly as they are written and know exactly which book they came from.
Not at all surprisingly, this book – like it’s novella – is gorgeous. The story picks up exactly where the novella left us hanging – so you MUST read “Finding Gray” first!
There is just the right amount of angst, without slowly killing you with frustration and wanting to throw your Kindle at the wall. Just enough that you feel it and Hope against all hope that it can be overcome.
There is just the right amount of “hot” moments, without turning the book into a seedy porno. Just enough to get you a bit bothered and looking for your husband (or wife).
There is just the right amount of KL Kreig….. which really – there is no such thing as not enough!! Her writing, like everything of Kelly’s I have read, is superb. It’s emotional, it’s heart wrenching, it’s love and it’s life. It’s real.
I am so excited to be meeting the Colloway boys!!!
If you are needing a new family to fall in love with – make it these boys!
Really enjoyed this book, I could not put it down. Gray and Livia are so perfect together but they have so much to overcome before they can be truly happy. I cried, ugly cried. So happy that they get their happy ever after. There are so many twists and unexpected turns. The Colloway brothers are great and I look forward to reading more.
