The one question she often asks herself is why. Why has she never been enough? Why doesn’t anyone truly want her? She was reminded daily that she was nothing but a worthless girl and only another mouth to feed. The last time she saw her family, was the night they dumped her in a ditch on the side of the road and left her to die. A kind woman took her out of that ditch and gave her a home. Her new … Her new family was every girl’s dream until a single poisoned scratch took it all away. Emma was tossed away again, becoming a prisoner, and a slave to her circumstances. The one person the Cook enjoyed beating regularly. The day Cook sold her body, all of her hopes and dreams were destroyed. But one fateful night, after fighting for her life, she escapes this Hell.
He finds her on the brink of death, naked, beaten, and barely alive. She thinks he is the Angel of Death, someone who will save her, but he is a real monster. Did she just trade one Hell for another? Will the memories he steals from her dreams soften his heart enough to make him care for something more than himself? Or will he turn her away, just to Forsake her, like all the rest?
Warning: This book is Intended for mature audiences only. Forsaken is a very dark romance about the struggle of life. The good news is, I promise a Happy-Ever-After

Forsaken Jennifer Julie Miller is the story of Emma and Lucas.
Emma was tormented and abused when she was younger…now she feels no self worth. Meeting Lucas who has his own issues started to make changes in herself and learning about her powers…and her worth. This was a darker type romance for this author which I will say this might be my favorite book by her. This was a page turner for me…really enjoyed it.
This is the first book that I had read by this writer. Suspense mystery enjoyable. This was a gripping storyline from beginning to end. There was just something about it that had you turning every page to see what was going to happen.Lucas finds Emma almost close to death. What will happen to her once Lucas takes her home? Very interesting storyline. I enjoyed reading this one and I can’t wait to read more from Jennifer.
I was very impressed by the depth and story telling, I can only imagine the toll it must have taken on the author while working on these characters. It was a very intense, cinematic read and the ending was fantastic ( the end made me say “whatttttt!” But then surprises me)
It was very well written, especially given such a hard subject. Emma was a woman who didn’t understand her own value, who craved acceptance and stability so much that she or everyone before herself always, no matter the cost. Lucas, the male main character didn’t fit into the cookie cutter romantic vampire trope. His grumpy sarcasm and skeptic demeanor made him more realistic as a person and how the relationship between them was built was believable, not an instant love story.
It was nice to see Emma come into herself and her own powers with Lucas’s help, as opposed to him being the sole reason for it. It’s so nice to read a book where the woman isn’t dependent on the man the whole time.
I completely understood how Emma felt, especially as a child. I think that this book will give hope to those who haven’t found their Lucas, or their self worth yet.
Also I need my own Rage! Rage the hellhound was probably my favorite character I loved his snark and protectiveness. I will definitely be looking forward to more of this series!
A few of my favorite Quotes from the book:
“I never had dreams of something more. I didn’t reach for the stars because I knew there wasn’t one with my name on it. I have spent my whole life on the outside looking in. No one wanted anything to do with the girl who had no last name.”
“so enjoy it, jump on the bed, sing songs in the bathtub, and dance naked in front of the mirrors if you want, but Emma, find some enjoyment in your life. None of us are promised tomorrow.”
“I sit down on the ground staring up at the stars. Wishing that just once in my life I was enough. Why doesn’t anyone want me? The tears finally stop because I have no more to shed. I’m numb once again.”
Contains some sexual content.
This no name little girl’s life is heartbreaking. Her name was Emma until she was about 6 or 7, then some little thing happened that changed the course of her life and she wasn’t worth enough to have a name. The cook was an evil woman who was saddled with little Emma. That evil wench beat, starved, and tried to sell her to a man for his pleasure. Anything and everything that went wrong in book’s kitchen was no name’s fault. That was the her life changed again, but was it for the better? Or did she trade one hell for another?
I liked the originality of Rage. Many books have vampires walking in sunlight, but none able for this reason….very inventive.
I like the story itself, I found myself rooting for Emma. I was turning the page hoping this was where she would finally catch a break. Even when I thought she finally had a better life, something bad happens to her and I just grumble. I do believe it’s a great story when the author can pull this reader into the story that much. RECOMMENDED
Wow, excellent writing. This is the first book by this author that I have read. I will read more.
This is my first book I’ve read written by this author and it is an amazing read. It pulled me in from start to finish. The connection that some of the characters had to each other was something I didn’t see coming and I loved how there lives were intertwined. There are plenty of twists and turns that you will not see coming. I definitely recommend this story it will not disappoint.
