Six foot six, 242 pounds, and possessed of a scant IQ of 70, Forrest Gump is the lovable, surprisingly savvy hero of this classic comic tale. His early life may seem inauspicious, but when the University of Alabama’s football team drafts Forrest and makes him a star, it sets him on an unbelievable path that will transform him from Vietnam hero to world-class Ping-Pong player, from wrestler to … entrepreneur. With a voice all his own, Forrest is telling all in a madcap romp through three decades of American history.

Two weeks after I had major heart surgery, my wife and I went to a theater to see a new film titled Forrest Gump. I laughed so hard that I thought my stitches were going to come apart. Forrest Gump is my favorite movie.
Forrest Gump, by Winston Groom, is a wonderful book. So many things are different than seen in the movie. In the book, …

Although it was different from the movie in many respects, it was very entertaining. It was mostly enjoyable.
Major differences from movie
This is very different than the Zemeckis film with a protagonist very different than the Tom Hanks character, but it’s the reason those others exist: well worth a read.
A whole different story than the movie and much better
I recently vacationed in Savannah, Georgia and happened to walk by the famous Forest Gump bench. It didn’t mean a whole lot to me since I’ve never seen the movie, but ever since I outed myself of this fact, all my friends and family are insisting I watch it. Of course, I’m reading first! …and plan to watch sometime this summer. I really don’t …
