In this beauty-and-the-beast regency romance by USA TODAY bestselling and HOLT Medallion winning author Bree Wolf, a grieving widower and a fierce young lady come to see that the past can never be forgotten, but its regrets can be forgiven.England 1802: GRAHAM ASTOR, DUKE OF KENSINGTON is a beast and he knows it. Consumed by loss and misery, he has no need or desire for company or anything else … company or anything else polite society has to offer. What he needs is a wife—not for himself, but as a mother for his child—and it appears he’s found the perfect timid, young wallflower for the job. A woman who will make no demands of him. A woman who will leave him alone with his pain.
When her ruthless uncle informs ROSABEL that she is to marry the dark, brooding and recently widowed Lord Kensington, terror steals into her heart. Without any other options, Rosabel soon finds herself tied to a man who refuses to speak to her. A man whose cold gaze sends chills down her back. A man utterly displeased with her presence.
However, as Rosabel and his daughter grow closer, Graham soon realizes that his new wife is a far cry from the timid wallflower he thought her to be. For Rosabel possesses a gentle strength he cannot ignore, and with each passing day, her kindness and tender joy become harder and harder for him to resist. Soon, Graham finds himself longing for the very thing he fears the most.
Rosabel’s love.
Will he dare open his heart to her?

Good characterization and easy to identify with. 4 stars because I think it ran on a little long, some descriptions in last chapters could have been cut down. I loved the two epilogues, however. A clean, historical romance. This was my first book by Ms. Wolf, but since then I have read all of the books in this series she has written at this time. Ms. Wolf does write great historical romance and I would highly recommend her books of you like clean historical romance with a HEA.

Bree Wolf does a really good job in this series to show haunting psychological baggage being worked through and then discovering the joys of life and love. She thinks of very interesting twists. Like all of these that I’ve read.
I love it it was a really really good read
Loved it! Beautiful romance!
Good book and written well!!!
Enjoyed
Wonderful to read a book with all of the romance, reality, and excitement without all of the X-rated dirt. Very refreshing to find an author who writes clean love stories so well. So impressed, I bought the boxed set #1. All four were as well done…and all different. Loved them all!
I loved this book. The characters are forced together in a painful time, but love does triumph.
I couldn’t put it down. Such a good read and quite therapeutic in a way. Cheers to Bree Wolf.
Suggested reading.
Interesting
I liked the plot and tension between the couple.
Grahame and Rosabel are two wounded souls. Initially, Rosabel is timid but she becomes ever stronger through the course of the story in her effort to provide a happy life for the little girl she loves. Grahame repeatedly runs from the challenges in his life. He finally finds a way to successfully confront his emotionally tortured past and move into a loving future. While I found the denouement the realization of a lasting love, it would be entirely appropriate reading for a mid-teen on up. It’s refreshing to read something that leaves some things to the imagination.
Forgotten And Remembered-The Duke’s Late Wife is an outstanding historical romance by Bree Wolf. Ms. Wolf has delivered a well-written book. The characters are phenomenal. Kudos to Ms. Wolf for her amazing cast of characters in this book. Graham is a grieving widower with a daughter to raise. Rosabel is an orphan living with her relatives. Their story is packed with drama, humor, angst and spice. I totally enjoyed reading Forgotten And Remembered and look forward to my next book by Bree Wolf. Forgotten And Remembered-The Duke’s Late Wife is book 1 of the Love’s Second Chance Series but can be read as a standalone. This is a complete book, not a cliff-hanger.
I voluntarily read a complimentary copy of this book that I received from Instafreebie. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
An orphan, taken in by an Uncle & Aunt who already had their own children and didn’t really want her. You see, her mother disgraced her family by marrying beneath her, and then had the audacity to die! The little girl, Rosabel, was then virtually deserted by her grieving father who then died 2 years later. As a result, Rosabel grew up feeling unwanted by the Adults in her family and feeling that she had less value than other children. Her cousins, however, showered her with their love, which she joyously returned.
It was this loving play and attention to her young cousins that caught the eye of a widower and his brother-in-law, at a large wedding which they and Rosabel’s family were in attendance. The 2 dukes talked about how Rosabel would make an excellent mother to little Georgianna whose mother had recently died. Thus, the widowed Duke asked the uncle for her hand in marriage, in a surprise visit. Rosabel and the Duke had never even spoken to each other. Relieved to have he opportunity to be relieved of his niece on the one hand; on the other hand, the uncle had hoped the Duke would marry his own daughter! Thus the scene is set for Rosabel to marry a man she had never spoken to in a mere 2 weeks.
The story then starts with 2 strangers marrying. They must come to know each other, overcome grief, fear of further rejection, and make a family. How the author builds the story, having events that reveal inner feelings and fears, strengths and weaknesses is quite well done. The characters are believable, and the dialogue is fitting to the situation. There are enough twists and turns that surprise the reader to hold interest and adds opportunity for character growth, of which the author took advantage.
There are a few memorable passages that express deep truths worth remembering:
““We all have our pasts, Dear. I do not mean to belittle yours, only to remind you that your past is your past. The future is still unknown, and we need to make the best of it. Do not allow your past to hold you back, or there will come a time when nothing but regret fills your days.”
This is advice we all need to take to heart.
This is a clean story, with only kissing between marriage mates, no actual bedroom activities discussed, making it appropriate for readers 13+ seeking a good story with a happy ending.
This is a great series – will want to read them all!
Short short review. Very good read, the story flowed from one page to the next, flawed characters that you feel for and want good things to happen for them.
It says basically the same thing over and over and over again. A couple of good scenes but basically very repetitive thoughts and scenes.
I like the descriptions of the homes and people of the the times. The story was good in so far as the wife/nanny became really close to her husbands little girl and his mother. The husband in the other has was distant and cold. This went on far too long and got boring.
This is a clean romance, but I wouldn’t consider it a light and fluffy read. It has its raw moments.
The Duke marries a woman he has never met so that his daughter will have a mother. He plans to keep that both at another estate so he can stay in his dark and depressing life but she has different plans with her life.
