However, as Rosabel and his daughter grow closer, Graham soon realizes that his new wife is a far cry from the timid wallflower he thought her to be. For Rosabel possesses a gentle strength he cannot ignore, and with each passing day, her kindness and tender joy become harder and harder for him to resist. Soon, Graham finds himself longing for the very thing he fears the most.

Graham needed a mother for his daughter after losing his wife over a year ago. When he returns for the season he sees Rosabel and realizes she is the perfect solution to his problem. After marrying her, he sends Rosabel to his country home to raise his daughter alone. Problem solved.
Rosabel wasn’t sure quite what to expect when she married Graham. Quickly finding out she didn’t know him at all when he blurts out how she is expected to raise his daughter in another home. She quickly falls in love with Georgiana though and together they form a wonderful bond.
Leonora was Graham’s first wife and Georgiana’s mother and her presence still looms large in the home more than a year after her death. Rosabel isn’t sure how she can overcome the respect the first Lady of the Manor commanded from all who knew her. Finding some old mementos in the attic prove to be quite the mystery and have Rosabel wondering if anyone truly knew Leonora at all.
Graham is finding it hard to ignore his wife and daughter and their expressive need to be near him all of a sudden. His perfect plan is not so perfect any longer. He can’t forget her if she is in his life all the time. After some mistaken choices he realizes his life can move on with Rosabel and Georgiana and be fulfilled.
In this novel we meet some of the characters that will have storylines of their own in upcoming novels. Like Elsbeth “Ellie” who is Rosabel’s cousin and Edmond who is Graham’s brother in law, the author does a wonderful job of incorporating the secondary characters into the storyline but also set them up for their own arc. 4 1/2 stars for this lead off to a new series.
I enoyed the story, the characters and the Regency setting. It grabs your attention and doesn’t let go till the end.
This is a love story with twists and turns. I kept guessing what the true story was between H and his deceased wife. Each time that I thought I knew, the story changed and I doubted my previous conclusion. (As an aside, I also loved the relationship between H and his deceased wife’s brother.) This is not a “love at first sight” story, and it is a clean romance novel. For those who love this kind of slow build to true love, this book is for you.
I loved reading this book. The author is very talented. This book is definitely a page turner. It keeps your interested through out the whole book. Though the situation was sad, there was so much hope to be had. I’m sure you’ll enjoy this story.
I loved this story! Really swept me away to another time and another place!!
So I was looking for a novel to read and went on-line. Stumbled upon Forgotten and Remembered. What caught me most was the fact that Rosabel was able to take all the Duke threw her way and still came out strong. Loved his daughter like she was hers. not all step moms can be the caring and freely give out Love. it was captivating for me and hope to read all the books in the series.Forgotten & Remembered: The Duke’s Late Wife (Love’s Second Chance: Tales of Lords & Ladies Book 1)
I enjoyed Rosabel growing into her own and how she then helps others change their paths.
Enjoyable light read…
Well written and characters well developed. Liked it.
Emotional Rollercoaster…HEA
I very much enjoy the writing of Bree Wolf. Many weeks ago I read Forgotten & Remembered so I decided to read again before I wrote a review. Bree does a very good job with character and story development, not so strong with period development re: customs, apparel, society and other things which give more “flavor” to the period of time a novel is set within. Nevertheless, I did become engrossed in the story of Graham and Rosabel. Graham was a very tortured soul who could not get over the death of his first wife. He chose Rosabel as his second wife because he thought she would be a good mother to his daughter. Rosabel ended up becoming the best possible choice he could have made for someone that would end up helping him with his issues. At times I wanted to shake some sense into him. Almost too much melodrama going on. Needless to say, there was a HEA. Thank you Bree.

I received a free copy of the clean historical romance Forgotten & Remembered: The Duke’s Late Wife (Love’s Second Chance: Tales of Lords & Ladies Book 1) by Bree Wolf and my review was given freely.
This is a well written, well rounded, clean, historical Romance.. The characters seem real making it easy to get involved with the emotions and conflicts throughout the book. I am looking forward to the sequel.
Could not put it down.
Bree Wolf if becoming a regular with me, I love all her books. Recently I read Forgotten and Remembered, and it was a very different type of romance which was tantalising and very entertaining!
Loved the premise and the way the characters revealed themselves in layers, like peeling an onion. It kept me wanting to know more about them right to the end.
Romance, good female character.
Worth reading.
This was the first book I read of Bree Wolf’s and I loved it. Strong modern day female leads in 19th century England isn’t probably very common, but I appreciated their strength of character. I love the depth of her characters and that they overcome their past to have a better future.
Captivating
The story line was very intriging The growth of the chapter “Rosabel “ was outstanding. The truth of the Dukes first wife was a wonderful mystery
A mystery within a romance….. I couldn’t put this book down.
