In this beauty-and-the-beast regency romance by USA TODAY bestselling and HOLT Medallion winning author Bree Wolf, a grieving widower and a fierce young lady come to see that the past can never be forgotten, but its regrets can be forgiven.England 1802: GRAHAM ASTOR, DUKE OF KENSINGTON is a beast and he knows it. Consumed by loss and misery, he has no need or desire for company or anything else … company or anything else polite society has to offer. What he needs is a wife—not for himself, but as a mother for his child—and it appears he’s found the perfect timid, young wallflower for the job. A woman who will make no demands of him. A woman who will leave him alone with his pain.
When her ruthless uncle informs ROSABEL that she is to marry the dark, brooding and recently widowed Lord Kensington, terror steals into her heart. Without any other options, Rosabel soon finds herself tied to a man who refuses to speak to her. A man whose cold gaze sends chills down her back. A man utterly displeased with her presence.
However, as Rosabel and his daughter grow closer, Graham soon realizes that his new wife is a far cry from the timid wallflower he thought her to be. For Rosabel possesses a gentle strength he cannot ignore, and with each passing day, her kindness and tender joy become harder and harder for him to resist. Soon, Graham finds himself longing for the very thing he fears the most.
Rosabel’s love.
Will he dare open his heart to her?

Its a pretty good story and worth the read. But, it is loosely plotted and way longer than it needs to be.
I enjoy Bree’s fresh ideas. She has a style that moves the action quickly.
Entertaining.
Hard to put down
I liked the writing style and liked most of the characters. The hero was a bit dense and took too long to come around, but at least he finally wised up. There was a lot of emotional tension and misunderstanding of each other’s cues. I’ll try another of her books most likely.
I loved this book. She was a very strong woman and he finally came to his senses. It was tragic in that he wouldn’t even try but she saw through him and won his heart.
It was g9, but I felt like there were times where it went slow. There were also some interesting character personalities that were weird. Overall it was a clean, fun romance.
Very unusual story. Enjoyable. Different. Enjoy!!!
I love all of Bree’s books!! She is so original!
A widower looking for a mother figure he could marry to run the house and take care of his daughter would have been commonplace. The details that unfold in this story will catch you off guard and win your heart. Only love can heal past injured hearts to build a family.
A beautiful historical romance where the words flow off the pages effortlessly.
I loved the strength of Rosabel to hold her own and her understanding of Graham’s position and attitude, her willingness to explore life and her love for a child that she makes her own. All of this made it a very entertaining tale which I really enjoyed and I am extremely relieved to find that there are more in this series for me to feast on. I am very happy to recommend this book.
Typical of the style, nothing notable but an easy read for late night.
The “hero” is a real blockhead. He spends too much time in his own thoughts with no inclination to communicate. How does the heroine ever fall in love with someone who in never there? Somehow she manages it, regrettably.
Really loved this book and the series. Great characters, great story.
Clean read. I liked the author.
It was a great book to just get lost in. Which is what I look for in a book. Thank you
Great book.
Easy to read. Easy to forget. I had to go back to the book to remember what it was to write this review and I just read it a week ago. Sorry.
I really enjoyed reading this book. If you are a fan of this genre then you will likely also like this book. The main character is warm and likable if a little dense. the story is well written and this is a great book for a rainy evening. It does not take long to read and is a good story.
