Named Best Suspense Fiction 2016 and Best Audio Book 2017 by the Association of Texas Authors. Named sole heir to her aunt’s estate, Charity Gannon arrives in the Northeast Kingdom of Vermont, hoping to find a link to her past. She’s not looking for lost treasures; she is searching for a connection to the aunt she barely knew. What she finds is a thirty-something-year-old mystery and questions … thirty-something-year-old mystery and questions with no answers. A sad, secluded cottage, all but hidden amid the vines. A man’s suit of clothes, tainted with dried blood and a bullet hole. Four forgotten boxes, stuffed into a large bag and buried in the far corners of the shed.
These are not just any boxes. These are unopened, undelivered boxes, left behind by the now-defunct Kingdom Parcel. All four boxes are marked March 14, 1984… the very day her uncle, president and driver for the delivery service, was said to have committed suicide. Four forgotten boxes, whose owners might still be out there, waiting for a delivery that never arrived.
The undelivered boxes haunt Charity, tugging at her conscience. Hadn’t someone noticed them missing? Hadn’t anyone wondered about the failed delivery? Thinking it might be fun to surprise the recipients after all these years, Charity sets out to deliver the packages to their rightful owners.
Along the way, one of the love stories she discovers is her own. Fate throws her into the sturdy arms of Tarn Danbury, a burly sugarmaker with eyes as beautiful as the mountain pond from which he was named, and a voice as smooth and rich as the dark syrup he produces.
The story behind one box is delightful. Another is heartbreaking.
And one might very well be the death of her.

Forgotten Boxes is family drama wrapped in a mystery inside of a love story. Charity, as sole heir, travels to Vermont to settle her estranged aunt’s estate. While cleaning out the cottage and pondering her family’s tragic history, she becomes consumed with the mystery of her uncle’s violent death 30 years ago. Why did her aunt keep his bullet-holed suit hanging in the closet for all these years? And how was it possible that her aunt was still in possession of 4 undelivered packages left behind on his delivery truck that fateful day of his death? Charity feels honor bound to see these packages delivered to their rightful owners even though 30 years have passed. Will the path she has chosen lead to closure or heartache?
I listened to the audio version of this story while traveling and found myself quickly drawn into the mystery and NEEDING to have all my questions answered. The mystery was intriguing, the family story moved me, and the love story was sweet.
I was given a copy of this book by the author and voluntarily chose to review it.
This is my first red by Becki Willis and I absolutely love her style of writing. Her writing is very descriptive and I felt myself seeing the scenes in my head as they were happening. The main character, Charity, was a delight to read about. Her character was well fleshed out and her situations during the story line seemed very real to me.
Charity’s aunt passes away and she inherits her estate. She finds her uncle’s bloody, bullet ridden clothes where they have hung for the past 30 years. As she finds out the story of her uncle’s demise and uncovers clues about his suicide, she starts to doubt that he killed himself. Her journey leads her to find undelivered boxes from the Kingdom Parcel Co. owned by her uncle. She decides to try to find the owners of the boxes and deliver them. Little does she know the danger it will put her in and the strange stories the owners have to tell..
This tale is a clean, well-written romance with a good helping of mystery thrown in. Charity finally meets her prince charming in the most unusual way. Does it have a happy ending? You will have to read the book to find out. You won’t be disappointed, just unable to put it down once you start.
I look forward to reading more from Becki Willis. She is a true gem of a writer and one you will want to come back to.
A little mystery a little romance, easy fun read
Forgotten Boxes, the name alone drew me in for a mystery from the past and author, Becki Willis assured me it would be a great goodread. A most imaginative mystery came to life when Charity found the hidden boxes and wanted answers. Her search kept pages turning to reveal the truth about the past, danger that still existed and a little romance on the side. Ms. Willis’ writing, story and engaging characters made a most entertaining read not just for mystery fans.
Becki Willis delivers a totally absorbing thirty-year-old mystery when her main character inherits her aunt’s home and discovers the bloodied clothing of her deceased uncle hanging in the bedroom. Later she finds four undelivered boxes in the storage shed, apparently deliveries that weren’t made on the last day of her uncle’s life. Yes, there’s a wonderfully sweet romance, but the mystery is baffling, and Willis is excellent at providing clues in just the right amount throughout the novel.
Would definitely recommend this good, clean novel to anyone wanting to read an excellent mystery with a touch of romance and look forward to checking out more of Ms. Willis’ work.

Great book
I really like Becki Willis’ writing style. It usually catches your attention in the first chapter, and with her accurate descriptions you feel like you’re in the setting and understand the emotions going on. This book was not different. Excellent plot, very interesting. Mystery mixed with romance, what could be better?

A real interesting read about inheriting a house with 4 hidden, undelivered boxes. She decides to return the boxes and enters into the past finding answers to her Father’s death and so much more. In the end she finds a future.
