From international bestselling author Monica James. My name is Lucy Tucker, and my life…it was perfect.I worked the dream job. I had the most incredible family and friends. My home, Whispering Willows, a ranch in Montana, was everything I could ever wish for. My adoring fiancé, Samuel Stone, loved me unconditionally.I had everything a girl could ever want. But one fateful event shattered my perfect … fateful event shattered my perfect life. It’s unimaginable how simple, ordinary words can change a person’s life forever. For me those words were, “There’s been an accident.”
I thought Sam was my forever, but that forever came to a close the day Saxon Stone, Sam’s identical twin brother, came back. Saxon returned to Montana to help save Sam, however, the moment he entered my life, he turned my world upside down. But through chaos I somehow found clarity—clarity of who I was meant to be.
As time progressed, as seasons changed, and as a fire began to burn, I soon realized that Saxon was there for another reason…he was there to help save me.

Since I read the blurb I thought the book would be one thing. However, in the beginning the author shows that she would take another diretcion, it was completely different from what I thought. I didn’t know the author, but it was another great surprise.
FORGETTING YOU, FORGETTING ME let me hooked up to the pages and it was hard to let it go. It’s hard to remember that there are other things to do and get out of that trance. We get stuck in the story. We root for the best, but wtih our heart on our mouths the whole time.
The author didn’t create the good boy and the bad boy. She has created two normal people who have their baggage of rights and wrongs. Saxon and Samuel are real and that’s why it was even more painful to follow that story. I have a favorite, but my heart hurts for the other.
In other situation I would be angry with the heroine. However, I felt Lucy’s pain, her worries and how her life was slipping from her hand, even if she tried to hold it tight.
I think it’s a duology. And after that ending, I honestly don’t know again what direction the author is going to take. What I want the most is the second book to release oh so soon, because I long for a happy ending. It was better than I expected. It was captivating. I loved the story. I loved the careful narrative. I can’t wait for book 2.
OMG!! Talk about angst!! My heart was clenching and squeezing while I read this book! I’ve never read anything by Monica James and the blurb caught my attention. After reading this book she is now stuck with me as a fan!! This book was such an emotional rollercoaster!!
“You may not be my rose, but you’ll always be my sunshine.”
Lucy had the perfect life so it seemed until everything changed. Her fiancé Sam gets into an accident and loses his memory of Lucy. Lucy does her best to get him to remember but it’s not easy. My heart broke for her during this process. I couldn’t imagine the man I loved and who I wanted to spend the rest of my life with forgetting who I was. Then you have Saxon, who is the identical twin brother. As time goes on their feelings and attraction to each other becomes evident. Talk about messy!!! Lucy was like a rock in a hard place!! I don’t want to go into too much details but trust me it’s deep!
“Love doesn’t make sense. Love happens when you least expect it. It’s inconvenient, messy, and reckless, but that’s the beauty of it. It isn’t a decision; it’s a promise—a promise to chase inconvenient, messy, and reckless love with someone who embraces the chaos with you.”
With this being my first time reading anything by this author, I was very impressed!! The plot held my attention, the writing style was on point. It had everything I loved in a book. Only thing is that I would have loved Saxon’s point of view while reading this story. I would have loved his thoughts on how he felt going through this situation.
I love reading Monica James books and I read in her bio that she likes to write “turbulent stories” what a perfect word for the emotions that I felt while reading Forgetting You, Forgetting Me!
“There’s been an accident” is how this book starts off and we all know that isn’t good. And, it is an emotional book ride starting from the beginning to the end.!
I give Forgetting You, Forgetting Me 4 stars.
3.75 stars–FORGETTING YOU, FORGETTING ME is the first instalment in Monica James’ contemporary, adult MEMORIES FROM YESTERDAY romance series focusing on Lucy Tucker, Sam Stone and Saxon Stone.
Told from first person point of view (Lucy Tucker) using present day and memories from the past, FORGETTING YOU, FORGETTING ME is a love triangle focusing on Lucy Tucker, her fiancé Samuel Stone, and his estranged identical twin brother Saxon. Hours before his wedding to Lucy, Samuel Stone is hit be a drunk driver leaving his comatose and clinging to life. Lucy knows the one person with the ability save the man that she loves is the last man anyone wanted to see. Enter Saxon Stone, Samuel’s twin brother, and the man with whom Lucy will fall in love. What ensues is the growing love between Saxon and Lucy; Samuel’s change in personality as amnesia continues to take hold; and the fall-out when Samuel’s memories comes flooding back.
Lucy Tucker has only ever loved one man-Samuel Stone. From age sixteen forward, the man she knows as her Samuel has been nothing but flirtatious, kind and loving but without his memories of the woman he loves, Samuel is nothing like the man Lucy remembers. Saxton Stone has been estranged from his family for most of his adult life-never good enough, and always second best-Saxon knew when the time was right he would take off to places unknown but a call from his brother’s fiancé finds Saxon returning to the town and the people that did him wrong.
The relationship between Samuel and Lucy is revealed through memories of the past, and the present day anger filled rages of a man who is unable to remember the woman who claims to know him best. Saxon Stone is a man destined for heart break knowing when his brother regains his memories, Saxon will lose everything-all over again. The love-triangle leaves me conflicted as I have a difficult time with this particular trope-someone will love, and everyone gets hurt.
FORGETTING YOU, FOGETTING ME is a contemporary, adult story line that reads more YA (young adult) and NA (new adult) with the aforementioned trope’s love triangle, uncaring parents, and best friend who’s in love with one of the boys. Interesting in its’ concept, the slow build up of Saxon and Lucy’s relationship is heightened with a confession of assured consequences, and a cliff-hanger that is about to break everyone’s heart. The premise is intriguing and emotional; the characters are broken and lost; the romance is a slow burn, forbidden love.
They say you do not forget the love of your life, but what happens when the love of your life forgets you. Also they usually say that only we fall in love once and no matter what kind of obstacles you have, there will always be a way to be together, but when love is build by white lies and misunderstandings it tends to vanish like air.
Forgetting you, forgetting me is the first instalment of a new duet where Ms. James delivers an emotional story. Every minute of it was a squeeze to my heart. How well do we know the person we love? That is one of the questions I made to myself after reading this book.
The plot is really good. I felt sympathy for the characters. This book is a roll coaster of feelings which will leave you breathless. I have read Ms. James’ work before and I can say that her writing has improved pretty well. She moved smoothly from erotica to sweet-emotional-romance.
This is the story of Lucy, Sam and Saxon. A confusing love triangle where everything is not as it seems. Here the heroin has a rough start in life, feeling like trash until she was adopted. Lucy’s life will be seriously affected one more time. She was about to marry Sam, her first and only love, but he had an accident. He will be in comma for some time until he wakes up.
During that period of time Saxon, Sam’s twin brother, comes back home to help his brother because Lucy asked his help. The problem is that he has a bad relationship with his parents and Sam. Being in the hospital is tiring but when the man you love is in comma it does not matter to stay as long as it takes.
Because of the accident, Sam suffered brain damage which leads him to lose his memory. Things could not get any worse but they did. He does not remember Lucy. At some point of the story I realized that Sam didn’t want to remember Lucy because he did not really love her.
Lucy is a strong woman who will fight for their love but Sam will not make it easy for her. This is where Saxon’s visit represents a getaway for Lucy. Throughout Sam’s recovery, she will have an internal struggle with her feelings. Confused by Saxon’s attitude, she will discover her true feelings. Some omissions will break the tinny line of her first love. I guess Lucy is not so confused as it seems because her heart love the boy who lend her a book, the one who captured her heart is not the same who she thinks she loves.
This book is definitely full of surprises that enrich the plot of the story. This is not a cliché book. It has all the elements that you look in a good book. Forgetting you, forgetting me is a must read you won’t want to miss. I cried, laugh and wanted to punch something. I’m waiting patiently the conclusion of this duet.
If you have had this on your TBR pile for a while like I have you will be so angry at yourself for not reading it sooner!!!
I don’t even have the words other than this is my top read of 2021 so far! Now to dive into part 2
***SIX STARS***
Forgetting You, Forgetting Me is one amazing rollercoaster ride. I have only read one other book by Monica and I loved it but this one is different. It’s more emotional, addicting, and everything I could ever want when looking for a good cry. I don’t want to spoil anything and the synopsis says enough.
Lucy and Sam had it all. High school sweethearts. Soul mates. Passion for their jobs. A passion for life. Then it all changed with just a few words…there has been an accident. Now they have to fight for what they had. They have to be saved. That was when Sam’s twin brother Saxon makes an appearance. He wasn’t exactly welcomed but needed. Lucy is grateful but they didn’t have the best relationship throughout the years. Saxon always looked like he wanted her gone. She doesn’t know why he left home at 18. Why his brother and family just let him go. But while he was here, she was going to find out. If he could save Sam, she was going to do it. In the process, it could save her too. What is the piece of the puzzle is she missing?
Ok. That’s it. I will say that I was fucking addicted to this story from the very first page until the very last. I didn’t want to stop reading. I read while I ate. I am not a night reader but I stayed up and read. I had to know what was going to happen next. These characters made a way into my heart. I am pretty sure I dreamed about them last night. Seriously…it was like crack. My emotions were all over the place. I wanted to throat punch someone one minute then cry for another within a minute. I cried. Cringed. Felt angry. Felt sadness. Felt confused. Heartbroken. It gave me all the feels.
Overall…it’s a story about love, friendship, family, finding yourself and accepting that nobody is perfect. It’s one of the best books I have read this year. One of my few book hangovers for the year. Thank you Monica for this magnificent story! And I will pray that it won’t take you long to write your next book.
P.S I just read my highlighted quotes and crying!
