Amy Cecil nailed it in her first mafia book. It has everything you’d expect from a mob family plus the tender hearted side added in. I loved meeting all the new characters and getting to know them. Can’t wait for the next book!
I love me a good Mafia story. And Amy Cecil gave what I was looking for. With twist and the suspense and the lies…. just brilliant!!! Loved every minute of it. Great job!!!
What can I say about this book? It is amazing. Amy writes an enthralling story that grabs hold from the start and holds on to the end. You feel the passion, emotions, angst of these characters. A must read for sure but be warned it does end in a cliffhanger.
Wow what a fabulous starter this book is, part of a duet, it’s thrilling, it’s nail biting, edge of your seat trepidation as Michael Vitalli tries to stop Zaira Bonito from finding the truth, her family and The Vitallis are rival families after a misunderstanding years earlier caused the rift, at Zaira’s engagement party her father and fiancee are killed and she hits her head and loses her memory, Michael is there to help her and take care of her, what will happen if her memory returns. Honestly you are going to love this but beware as this is part of a duet it does end on a cliffhanger, and I can’t wait for the next one.
I received a copy and I am voluntarily leaving my own honest opinion
Zaira is the daughter of a Don and what he says goes. So when he orders her to marry someone she doesn’t even like, she must go along with it, for her father’s sake. There was a time growing up where she thought she would marry Michael Vitali. The Vitalis are heads of a powerful crime organization and Michael is due up to run it.
He’s sexy, strong, and has a clear head for what needs to be done. For a long time, he too thought he would be marrying Zaira. But a rift has been caused in the family and the girl he spent so much time with growing up has drifted further from his reach.
When Zaira’s brother steps in to help her, it brings Michael back into the fold and even closer than Zaira could have imagined. The only problem is, she’s lost her memory. So how can she and Michael ever have a future when she doesn’t remember her past?
*swoon*
I think I could use a bit of Michael in my life. He’s a bit bossy and Zaira gives it right back. She knows how to play the game and it drives him wild. He’s even got a bit of a jealous streak. I love these two together. They’re super fun and the chemistry between them is smoking hot. They’re perfect together and it makes a girl dream that these two can have their happy ever after.
At one time Michael and Zaira were destined to marry, but jealousy and the struggle for power destroyed that from happening. Now fate has put her in Michael’s path again and he’s vowed to never let her go. Zaira can’t remember the man who claims to be her fiancé, but one glimpse into his kind eyes and she knows this is a man she can trust. This dark romance is filled with lies, deceit, revenge, and betrayal. The cliffhanger will leave you wanting to know what will happen next. I look forward to reading the next book in this series.
Amy Cecil has taken mafia, ruthlessness, love and understanding and shook it all up. Get ready to fall in love and to hate Michael and Zaira! Will true love conquer all or will it just fade and crack? You will have to find out for yourself.
Amy Cecil has once again blown my mind and I cannot wait for the next book to see what really happens.
They were from rival families but he has decided he wants her no matter what. The families join forces to get rid of a common enemy. She ends up getting hurt and losing her memory which he intends to use as a chance to get her. Will she find out? What is he going to do if she remembers? Will he lose her forever? See if he can have her and be forgiven by her

I’m not usually a listener of mafia stories but something about the blurb of this one intrigued me enough to listen. And I’m glad I did as I really enjoyed it. I really like the set up of the story and more than once I wanted to slap Michael up the back of the head for being so stupid…oh well karma got him! i love the way that Maya May Bravo and Mark Bravo brought these characters to life. And I also like the tie in to another of Amy Cecil’s series.
I have mixed feelings for the book. It started really well and was developing in a good way that peak my interest and kept me enthralled wanting to know what was going to happen. The chemistry between Michael and Zaira is great, and there’s a spark there that even Zaira not being able to remember anything about them feels it too, and I really liked it.
The drawback is, that after the first few chapters the story stars to fall apart and filled with dialogue that wasn’t really important to enhance the story. Then everything gets rushed and we get the end that is a really silly cliffhanger, and it left me more upset with Zaira because her reaction about the things that happened, even after learning the truth, didn’t really made sense.
The narration by Mark Bravo and Maya Bravo was good. Mark Bravo has a good and deep voice, but sometimes it sounded a little bit monotone. Maya’s voice was likeable and I did like her narration, her tone and paced were good for Zaira’s character.

Forgetting The Enemy was an engrossing mafia tale that will have you at the edge of your seat. **Audio Review**
I absolutely love Amy stories and this one did not disappoint. This is the second time I have listened on audio and it was brilliant. I love hearing the story of Michael and Zaria come to life. Definitely a well thought out love story with Mafia families at the base. I thoroughly enjoyed it and of course the cliffhanger leaves me wanting more. Mark And Maya Bravo do a good job with the narration and gave it a good mafia feel.
Why oh why did I listen to this book before the second is out! I loved everything about this book and the ending has my heart bleeding needing to know how we could ever get a happy ending. The narration is a perfect pair that brought this book to live perfectly.
Forgetting the Enemy
The Enemy Duet, Book 1
By: Amy Cecil
Narrated by: Mark Bravo, Maya May Bravo
Mafia romance always appeals to me. That hint of danger just aids to the mystique of the budding relationship. Meet Michael. He is taking over the Vitaliti crime organization. He has always loved Zaira and has every intention of marrying her even though she is daughter of the rival family. An opportunity presents itself to put his plan into action when Zaira is victim to a blow to the head and she has amnesia. Will she remember who he is and what he did? What an action packed, fun ride this book is. The history of the families is woven so intricately it’s hard to believe these two who were close when young wouldn’t end up together. But like a true rival family, this union is not going to be happy, especially if Zaira gets her memory back. Will Michael and Zaira find their happiness? What will happen if she does get her memory back? And will the families meld? It’s so worth the listen, even though Amy Cecil does leave us with a cliffhanger! Suspense, family, violence, a flash to the Knights of Silence, passion, it’s all there in this first installment! Time to grab it and listen.
I love Mark and Maya Bravo. These two know how to bring a book to life. I enjoy their style and voices. Together they mold their narrations into the characters and let us live the story. Loved this and looking forward to the next one in the series.

Forgetting the Enemy by Amy Cecil is a mafia romance that I listened to on audio narrated by mark Bravo and Maya Bravo. This is the first book in The Enemy Duet so it’s no surprise that the book ends on a cliffhanger.
I absolutely love Amy’s books! She really knows how to tell a story that you can get lost in. You can’t help but fall in love with Michael and Zaira. I cannot wait for the second book Loving the Enemy to be released on audible.
Mark and Maya did an amazing job on the narration. They really know how to bring a story to life.

Really confused about why this is a duet. This could have been wrapped up in one book if the author hadn’t let the characters run away from her on pages of nonsense and unwanted inner dialogue. Whilst the book was okay, i am not invested enough to want to know what happens to this couple..inevitable they will get back together after no doubt a few more misunderstandings and avoiding actual talking together whilst the hapless brother looks on.

Just as good as all her other books. Just loved Michael & Zaira relationship even though she couldn’t remember much. I almost cried when Michael’s mother came in during when the girls were getting ready for the wedding. Loved this book so much until the wedding night. OMG! I so can’t believe what she did. Going to go dive into my ARC now!
Forgetting the Enemy by Amy Cecil is action-packed, engaging, entertaining, breath-taking, it is brilliant from the first page all the way to the last page!
Forgetting the Enemy is the first book in the Enemy duet, it is the story of Michael and Zaira. These two are part of two different Italian mob family’s based in New York, they grew up together and were destined to get married until 5 years ago when Zaira’s mom unexpectedly dies. Fast forward to the present when Zaira is engaged to marry a man against her will; while at her engagement party chaos breaks out and Zaira watches her father and his second hand man (who is also her fiance) murdered. She turns to run to shelter when she falls and knocks her self out.
When Zaira wakes up she is in the hospital with no memory of who she is and how she got hurt, she is with a man she does not remember but feels like she can trust him. Michael feels horrible Zaira was hurt during the chaos but he is determined to keep her and remind her of what they had.
While Zaira is recovering she is staying at Michael’s home, she feels like she belongs in his home and belongs to Michael. During this time Michael falls more in love with Zaira while Ziara believes things that are not true they move on and get married. Does Zaira get her memory back, does she find out who killed her father and real fiance? What happens when she finds out that what she was lead to believe was not really true?
Forgetting the Enemy by Amy Cecil is a must read, I literally could not put the book down, I read this book in less than 12 hours. It was that good! This is my first Amy Cecil read and I now I am playing catch up to get her other books read.
