I’ve always hated her. She’s always hated me. We’ve never been friends, just the best of enemies…I’ve hated Rachel Dawson since I was seven years old. My next door neighbor and number one sworn enemy, she’s the reason why almost all of our childhood fights ended with me setting something of hers on fire. (Or, vice versa.)She snitched on me when I broke curfew.I snitched on her when she lied … versa.)
She snitched on me when I broke curfew.I snitched on her when she lied about having a boyfriend. We went back and forth like this throughout high school, both vowing to never talk to each other again when we went off to college.
But that was until she showed up at my apartment during my senior year and asked me for a temporary place to stay. Until living with her day after day became unbearable, and one passionate argument changed everything.
Well, almost everything.
I’ve always hated her.
She’s always hated me.
I’m not sure what the hell is happening, and I can’t tell if we’re still “enemies”…

****Spoiler alert********
This was so good! I only wished that all of the amazing things we knew Ethan did for Rachel she knew too? She got to be so annoying at the end when she just iced him out and ghosted him. soooo many people and signs were saying that he was fighting for her and she was just ignoring him because he was honest with her and wanteds her to do what was best for her. i loved ethan but rachel was an eh by the end of the book. I dont not like her but I dont see what he saw in her. but it was still a great book. do not pass this up. Rachel is bad I just wasnt connecting with her. but their love had me rooting for them all the way even if she wasnt my favs. ethan loved her and that was good enough for me.
This enemies to lovers story has a unique twist! Sworn childhood enemies…
The arch nemesis to superhero.
Oil to water.
Orange juice and toothpaste.
Ethan and Rachel.
They should be a household hashtag. I’m sure at this point they are. I’m just really late to the party!
I “tripped down the stairs” for these two. Guess Ibshould have checked my shoelaces before embarking on this voyage. Who knew it would be so dangerous, having a sworn enemy and all!
These two are ruthless in their quest to maintain their true sworn enemies pact. Except for when they aren’t ! This highly romantic, wonderful whirlwind romance is everything the hopeless romantic could wish for! Except a secret baby, there isn’t one of those…yet!
Ethan and Rachel will capture your heart, steal your sense of revenge, and capitalize on your own person need for “justice”. May the odds be ever in your favor!
This enemies to lovers, girl next door romance was a page turner! Even though their relationship was strange, it made sense that they always had feelings for each other!
I cannot sing the praises high enough for this author. Altho her ‘short’ stories have never really hit the mark with me, her full-length standalone books have always been perfection. It doesn’t matter if they’re ‘adult’ or ‘new adult’ or whatever, her characters are a joy to embrace and her stories are just magic.
These two kids put a smile on my face from the moment I started reading. I loved everything about their journey, from the early years of ‘hate’ lol to the grow-up years of ‘love’. They were endearing and fun with very little angst. I didn’t think she could write a better life long friends to lovers story than Carter and Arizona but these two are right up there with them.
Oh my… This story had me all over the place.
It’s a classic enemies to lovers story. With just the right amount of humor, sadness, and sexy time. I thoroughly enjoyed Ethan and Rachel’s story and absolutely loved the ending.
Really, really enjoyed this book. I always want more when I read good romances. Love the main characters.
Cute! It’s a long term “enemies” to lovers, but while they’re enemies for most of their lives, as the story goes on you get glimpses into their past and see that he basically loved her all along. Great hero, but the heroine was kind of annoying and made decisions most of us wouldn’t make. Still, it was entertaining and I read it in 2 sittings. Decent sex scenes, and the final climactic ending was a bit forced… honestly the best part was the hero.
Good beach read
Regurgitated ‘sincerely, Carter’ but done horribly. No chemistry or witty remarks, I didn’t laugh, there’s no steam. It was like reading about middle schoolers not college going young adults. Everything is so far fetched & ridiculous. Whitney G is losing her touch, her last bunch of books have been trash.
The “only” thing is that… they are both cheaters, lol. They have sex for the first time (around 55%) when they’re still seeing other people. I didn’t like that, but that was also their breaking up with them? So weird, but at least no drama (the OW and OM just disappear).
Plus, almost at the end, he says that he has always been in love with her… Ehm. Nope. No need for that, really. That’s just unrealistic in an already pretty unrealistic story.
I got over some things because I liked to think they hated each other and no romantic emotions were involved. Why changing that?
Still, not as horrible as Sincerely, Carter.
Forget You
I loved everything about Ethan and Rachel’s story. The flashbacks to the past and how they went from enemies (but really best friends) to so much more. I laughed so much at their arguments and cried more times than I can count.
I loved this book- Everything about it. Ethan and Rachel are relationship goals. Their frenemieship began when they were 7 1⁄2 and became neighbors. Now seniors in college they end up being roommates. They haven’t seen eachother in three years because Rachel has been attending semesters at sea. Although, they have been in contact through letters. Through flashbacks you get glimpses of their relationship in grade school and high school. On a school trip they give into their attraction and call a truce in their enemy status and begin dating. Ethan is the ultimate book boyfriend. And, Rachel is completely outspoken. This book is laugh out loud funny! Ethan has spent years saving Rachel from herself and his love is just what she needs. Their chemistry is so hot and their HEA is major swoon.
Rachel to Ethan:
“Well, why did you tell me all the things I wanted were unrealistic?” “Because they are.” He laughed, covering my mouth with his. “With anyone else who isn’t me.”
I listened to this book. The narrators brought the book to life. Nice romantic story.
This book was so refreshingly different that I drank it like a cool glass of sweet tea. I’ve read plenty of Enemies to Lovers books but this one was a very different type of enemies. These two met at 7-1/2 years old and became enemies at their first meeting. Yet they saw they had more in common than anyone else in their neighborhood and their parents were good friends. Therefore they are put together so often they become integral to each other’s lives.
This story is told in duel POVs and goes back and forth in time from their school days to the present. As we experience their “hatred” for each other, we come to realize that they are really best friends who won’t admit how much they care about each other. They mask it under the enemy shield with moments of truce and “forget this moment ever happened”. I absolutely melted at how Ethan put Rachel before his girlfriends and no one that either one of them dated could meet their high expectations. When they finally realized their feelings for each other, my kindle burst into flames and I basked in the heat of their combustion! It was all I had been anticipating and more! Whitney can do a slow burn to an inferno like no other!! Perfection! And the Easter Egg in there at Gayle’s with Carter and Arizona’s booth! If you have read Sincerely Carter, you will see it.
This is a fantastic read that I will be rereading and I can tell you right now you NEED to read this fantastic book! Whitney G is a one click author for me, you can’t go wrong with her books! FIVE NOT FORGOTTEN STARS!
Oh my gosh, I loved this enemies-to-lovers story so much!
Beginning in childhood, Ethan and Rachel have been enemies throughout their life. As the story unfolds, we get little flashbacks throughout the years and they absolutely slayed me in every way. I laughed, I swooned, I grinned ridiculously, I wanted to smack someone upside the head, and I fell in love with both of these characters.
This is a relatively low angst read that kept me glued to the pages waiting to see when hatred turned to love. They had amazing chemistry together and when it finally exploded, holy heck…this couple sizzled! With some wonderful secondary characters that kept me entertained as well, I’m putting this on my reread shelf.
The one thing I like about this author’s books is that they are easily read in one sitting. Forget you, Ethan is a fun and witty frenemies tale.
It checked all of the boxes for me: humor, a little sadness, character growth, sweetness and sizzle.
The story is told from Ethan and Rachel’s POV, starting with their first meeting at age 7 1/2 yrs old. We watch their relationship grow through the years via flashbacks to present day. Everyone can see that they really love each other, but can’t admit it.
Ethan turns out to be not only hot, but very loyal and thoughtful to his ‘enemy’ Rachel through the years. Makes your heart melt.
Rachel can be a bit immature at times, but she is also a sympathetic character because she is never able to make friends no matter how badly how she wants to.
It’s really a sweet story when they finally try out being friends instead of enemies.
I really enjoyed this story, talk about not liking each other good grief.. There was a lot of banter between them, a lot of paybacks, a lot of hotness as well. Honestly though I felt like I was reading the authors story.
Please don’t ask me to explain.. I hope Whitney has a awesome 30th birthday.
I was given this story, and happily chose to give a review.
This had me rolling it was a battle Royale! Love this enemies to lovers book. This is the second book I’ve read of this author. She’s going on my one click auto buy list! I highly recommend this book!!
Good read.
I really enjoyed this book. It was a sweet, funny, and sexy story all rolled up into one. I definitely recommend this book, this series, and this author.
