Italy, the 90s. When Alex takes an unexpected interest in tomboy Leda, the strong-headed bookish teen is torn between the handsome suitor and her irrational feelings for wild childhood friend Nico, who’s dark, unreliable, and utterly ignores her.Can Leda forget Nico?As Leda pursues her dream to win the volleyball championship and her friendship with Alex deepens, Nico grows into a jaded, … jaded, taciturn, and hurtful player who cares only about himself. Leda should give up on him… not like he cares, does he?
Amman’s addictive humor and empathy intertwine the stories of many teens struggling with loneliness, angst and, of course love. The vivid descriptions of Cinque Terre and the Alps add to the irresistible charm of this intriguing teen romance.
** Though self-standing, the book is the third in “The Italian Saga” (all four books available, MG/YA) followed by “The Sonder Series” (Contemporary) following Leda’s adventures as an adult. These books empower girls and women of all ages to be their brave true selves.**
** The books are a fictional memoir based on the life of author GB Amman, a novelist and molecular biologist born and raised in Italy. **
“Beautifully written, addictive, insightful, and emotional! It captures perfectly teenage angst and the independent spirit that accompanies it!” —AMY JOSLYN, Librarian

Forget Nico by Gaia B. Amman a fabulous four-star read. This is number three in the Italian Saga series, but number one in the Italian Teens novels, I have read the whole Italian saga so don’t know if it could be read as stand-alone as I have read them as the series and enjoyed them as such. This is such a fun and interesting read, and when you realise that it’s the authors own story, it just makes it that much crazier. This was so much fun for me as I was a similar age in the 90s and visited Italy, so this brought back some fond memories for me, the only issue I had was that I don’t remember there being so much teenage angst while I was there. This author has a great story to tell and everyone should give it a go.
Forget Nico: Falling For The Wrong Italian is the first book in the Italian Teens (Italian Saga) by Gaia B Amman, This is a young adult romance set in Italy in 1990. It was the first time reading this author and it’s also not a genre that I read much of but once I got into the story I really enjoyed it.
Leda Balni is 13 years old and has been friends with Nico since they were 9. She’s loved him since then but now he’s being cold and distant towards her. Everyone keeps telling her to forget Nico but the heart wants what the heart wants and she just can’t let any other guy in.
Set in high school, you really get to see just how awful teenagers behave towards each other. My goodness they are so nasty towards each other. If you do not fit in with the ‘in crowd’ then life can be really difficult.
This is a really interesting read into the mind of a teenager who is not little miss popular. It all becomes even worse for Leda when Nico ends up in trouble and is sent away.
Can Leda ‘forget Nico’ and move on? What will happen to Nico? This is a great young adult read and I think would be very eye-opening for teenagers to read.
Forget Nico: Falling for the Wrong Italian was a good 4 star read and book three in The Italian Saga.
This is a young adult read that tells Leda’s story as she grows up. We grow right along with her as she develops into a woman and experiences young love and heartbreak. She has a crush on Nico who never seems to notice her or is sometimes mean to her. She has her friend Alex who wants more with her but she doesn’t have the same feelings for him.
She continues to try and get Nico’s attention. Will she be successful and finally get what she’s wanted for a long time?
Overall I enjoyed this book. I will admit that it was hard for me to get into it in the very beginning, but it got better the further in I got. This book can be read as a stand alone. All of the secondary characters added a great element to the story. You can’t help but reminisce about your childhood years as you read the book. My emotions were all over the place with Leda’s. If you’re looking for a great series I suggest you 1-click and get started today.
Forget Nico: Falling for the Wrong Italian by Gaia B. Amman is the first book in the Italian Teens side of the Italian Saga. This book is an extension of the original Italian Saga series and I would recommend reading them first in order to get a full feel of the characters.
This book is probably my favourite one of this series so far. It was well written and really encourages a connection with Leda.
She was an interesting character to read about and is definitely what made the story. She is at such a important time in her life and you could really see the struggle she is facing. I am definitely enjoying this series overall and cannot wait to read more about it.
Forget Nico by Gaia B. Amman is a story about Italian family dynamics. Amman has great attention to detail that makes this YA romance a great read for all. This story reminds me about my teenage years in high school. The whole high school drama which makes this story authentic. The story follows Nico and Leda with insight to their high school romance. Nico and Leda grow throughout the story and we see more and more of the Italian family roles emerging in the story. This is a great read for YA and adults alike.
I really enjoy Amman’s writing style and continue to thoroughly enjoy these books. She provides her readers with an authentic taste of her upbringing and all the wonderful things we imagine of Italy. Her characters are well developed and charmed me from the first page. I am so thankful to have found Amman and have added many of her stories to my library. I will gladly continue to add this series to my reading list and will eagerly anticipate the next tale. Thank you!
Forget Nico: Falling for the Wrong Italian is part of the Italian Teens aka Italian Saga series by Gaia B Amman. I am a little confused on where it falls into line, because it says it is book 1, but there are 2 books prior to this one… Anyway, it is the first book I have read, and while I enjoyed it, it left me wanting more. The book cover drew me in, and states its based on a true story, which drew me in. The description sealed the deal, but I was expecting a little more. I kept expecting and waiting for some big reveal, and it never came. I would describe the book as a typical coming of age story. It follows Leda’s multiple year crush on Nico. There are highs and lows, love and hate, typical changes in teenage friendships. I don’t want to ruin the story, or ending so I won’t give too much away. The book finally came full circle and did wrap up nicely, but it wasn’t fulfilling. I want to know what happens next, so I hope the next book continues the story. And I just found out there is a pre-book which tells of Leda and Nico’s friendship in their younger years, so I recommend reading that first (even though I haven’t yet).

I really enjoy reading books by this author, I have read quite a few now and I always enjoy being transported to wherever she has set her books through her wonderfully detailed and imaginative writing.
Forget Nico is a wonderful read and I enjoyed delving into Leda’s life. I loved the time period that the story was set in also! I loved following Nico and Leda’s romance story and all the trials and tribulations that are destined to come with a teen romance! The author has written about the characters in such a way that she makes you look back on how you dealt with growing up and being a teenager! I love that I felt really involved with Leda’s life and everything that being a teenager comes with!
I am definitely looking forward to more from these wonderful characters!
Forget Nico: Falling for the Wrong Italian (Italian Teens novel 1, The Italian Saga) by Gaia B. Amman. From start to finish I was completely drawn in and couldn’t put it down until I’d finished. Leda and the other cast of characters bring this story to life. Each one being complex and unique, each having a story to be told through the pages of this book. It’s filled with teenage emotions, complicated relationships of all kinds. It’s a unique story that’s well written and paced nicely never feeling rushed or lacking anything. The characters just pull you into their world and take readers on a journey. I’m excited to see where the author takes readers next. Five stars all the way and highly recommended.
Forget Nico: Falling For The Wrong Italian is the third book in Gaia B Amman’s The Italian Saga, and the first in the Italian Teens series. The series follows Leda from her childhood onwards as she grows up.
Leda and her friends are hitting puberty. Raging hormones are adding to the drama and tensions they were already having to deal with. Leda is struggling to get Nico to notice her as she fends off unwanted attention from other boys.
I found the pacing a bit weird at times, with a few big jumps forward in time. This does allow the story to follow straight on from the previous book Out of the Nest: An Italian Summer and doesn’t affect the pacing too much.
This book does just about work as a standalone, but the series as a whole is very enjoyable and it’s nice seeing Leda grow up and the other characters develop around her. I haven’t quite read them in order, but I did start with An Italian Adventure which was a good introduction to Leda and her family, as well as some of her friends.
For me, this is a four star book. It’s enjoyable, if tense at times, and good to see this part of Leda’s journey. I’d recommend the series to fans of the Adrian Mole series and other coming-of-age stories, particularly if you’re interested in women in STEM.
Forget Nico: Falling for the Wrong Italian (The Italian Saga #3) by Gaia B. Amman is a YA romance story of angst and drama, love and confusion, teenage trouble and bad boys. It is a story with all the emotions for young love. The earlier books in this series focused on a young woman and her work and relationships including Nico. This book focuses on her younger years as a child/teenager, being in school and forming true friendships/relationships but also on trying to figure out herself and her place of where she fits in. It was interesting to see where it all started.
Forget Nico: Falling for the Wrong Italian (Italian Teens novel 1, The Italian Saga) by Gaia B. Amman – Review by Gail Guerrero
Four stars
Forget Nico was like reliving my teenage years all over again. The high emotions and the forever changing hormones. Leda doesn’t know how she truly feels. Her emotions are so mixed up that she doesn’t know if she should forget Nico or love him. You can tell from the first chapter that the characters had a lot of growing to do. Though Leda was a little whiny she grew so much by the end. I’m also a woman who is a sucker for a bad boy. Especially one that is hurting. Idk what it is about wounded men that we automatically want to fix. I liked the easy flow to the story. I liked how the author gave you a authentic view of Italy. I felt like I was standing in the country. This story was well written.
Forget Nico: Falling for the Wrong Italian is the third book in The Italian Saga by Gaia B. Amman. This was my first time reading a book in the series and I was not disappointed. It was easy to become attached to the main character Leda. As she experiences high school drama, it brought me back to my own high school days of young love, hormones, angst, the whole nine yards. The emotional roller coaster that comes with teen hood was very evident in this story. I loved the Italian culture weaved throughout the story as well. I will definitely be looking into the other stories in this series, I’m hooked!
4 Stars
Forget Nico: Falling for the Wrong Italian (Italian Teens novel 1, The Italian Saga) by Gaia B. Amman is a young adult/teen romance- full of all the teenage angst, drama, emotions, banter, antics, and discovery you would expect in a YA story. The series is a fictionalized memoir of the author’s younger years, set against the backdrop of Italy in the 1990’s. I have enjoyed this series and this story was no exception to the rule- although the teenage drama really frustrated me at times.
Leda is a great character- a bit of a tomboy, and her life is set to get a little more complicated. Add Alex and Nico into the mix and things get interesting.
Looking forward to the next book!
Thank you, Ms. Amman!
This is not my first book by this author but it is my favorite yet so far. This author writes with creativity and detail that makes you feel part of the story. This is a young adult story that brings you back to your teenage years of drama and growing up. It takes you through the relationship of Nico and Leda and the struggles of teenage romance. They are great characters and I loved watching them grow throughout the story. They made you feel as if you are in Italy with them and in the 90s. I highly recommend reading this book, you won’t regret picking it up.
Gaia Amman was a new author for me, and I’ve not read any teenage books since I was one myself (which was a long time ago). I was a little worried I wouldn’t be able to connect with the characters since I”m old enough to be their mother. Boy was I wrong! This book was so beautifully written and such detail given to each character, I absolutely couldn’t put this book down. Leda (Lee) is the main character we follow throughout her teen years. She is your normal teenage girl, with the same questions we all had at that age (and some still!). Through her eyes you see and remember what it’s like to be that young and what situations our teens go through. Another part of the reason I loved this book so much was for the Italian in it. Gaia left some Italian words intact and that just added to it for me. Absolutely a must read- no matter your age!
