Wow. I loved this story. It was just as powerful as the first book. Incredible. Strong characters and storyline. I just couldn’t put this book down. I was on edge so much of the time! A steamy scene is included. I’m looking forward to (hopefully!) more in this series.
I received a free copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving an honest review.
This is book two of the Lost & Found series and is a standalone story. The main character is Isabelle Irish, or Issi as she prefers to be called, who is an artist, in mainly sculpture. She was badly injured in a terrorist bomb some two years before, whilst sitting in Munich airport after attending her father’s funeral. But Issi can’t remember anything from before the time she woke up in the hospital days later. She ended up with several head injuries and brain damage and lost most of the hearing in one ear. She has bad burn scars and a reconstructed ear on that side, which she is quite shy about. Whenever she does try to force any memory, she ends up with severe headaches and migraines. Her fiancé and manager for her art deals is called Mark Cornwall, but she doesn’t live with him, always feeling something off about him, even though he was there in the hospital when she awoke and has never left her side since! He is very controlling and at times quite blunt, not allowing her to even be in the meetings about her work being sold, and always pushing her to get her work finished quickly.
She has two really good friends in the small town she now lives in, Sam and Jeff, who run a sixties style beachfront café on the Sunshine Coast of Australia, but it seems she has no friends or family from before her accident! Not even any belongings as suspiciously enough, her home burnt down a week before she got out of hospital. Mark sticks to her all the time, but she hasn’t felt any attraction to him, even though he is handsome enough and has been there for her for the last two years. She is happy that she insisted on buying her own small apartment by the beach, so she has some space to work and be on her own. Her home should be secure, but she gets a ring at the door one day, whilst down in her studio, and sees someone has left her a bouquet of Forget Me Nots on her doorstep. She has a secure gate, so nobody should have been able to get to her door. She presumes it must have been a friendly neighbour, until it happens again. She gets the urge to paint, after visiting a local market and picking up a painting and draws a striking set of eyes. When she sees a handsome stranger in her friend’s café, his smell and cologne trigger something in her. She passes him again in the street and accuses him of following her, which he denies. She adds the profile to the painting of the eyes and it seems to look like this stranger she met.
Some strange behaviour from her fiancé leads her to start asking more questions about her past and about their relationship. When she gets into trouble in the ocean, the stranger saves her and asks her who she is. He is the only one that calls her Issi, the name she prefers! Why is it, that even her own fiancé doesn’t call her this? The stranger seems to know her and a further confrontation between him and her fiancé, brings about even more questions about her past and suspicions about Mark’s true identity. Is Mark even who he says he is and why is he after her? She feels safe with this stranger, something she has never really felt with mark, even after two years. She sometimes feels that someone is watching her and it turns out there are serious reasons behind this, as her life is thrown a massive curve ball! Is this stranger her true love and can he reveal her true lost past? Issi is suspicious of both parties now, Mark and this stranger who she finds is called Tristan and wants her desperately to remember him!
A shocking story of what could happen to you when you can’t remember anything about yourself after an accident and someone takes advantage of that for their own desires and wants. This is a book you will want to read straight through in one go, so you can find out if she will ever get the true happy ending she deserves, or if her memory issues will just be too much for her to ever trust a man fully ever again! She is pulled in numerous directions, all at once, and can’t manage with the pain it brings her. She may never get any of her memories back and she has a new life now that she doesn’t want to give up completely. How this will be resolved and what will happen between Mark and Tristan is balanced on a knife’s edge. Fantastic read, very well written and leaving you guessing. A book I would recommend to all who love a small town romance and a second chance at love. I absolutely loved it! I received an ARC copy of this book from BookSprout and I have freely given my own opinion of the book above.
3 1/2 Stars
This second chance romance of sorts where Isolde had been living the life of Isabelle for two years after a tragic accident resulting in memory loss. Her manager and fiancé Mark controlled her and manipulated her career as an artist.
By the time Tristan re-entered her life, Issi had already decided to cut ties with Mark.
A slow burn storyline that delicately revealed the missing pieces of Isolde’s life and her future with Tristan.

I devoured this book on one Sunday as I just could not put it down even to the frustration of my husband. I was lost in Issi’s world a world of frustration, hope, creativity, loss and helplessness. To lose your memory must be the most frustrating thing to happen to anyone.
The book is full of everything you want in a great read, suspense, romance, mystery, intrigue, love, hope, friendship, chemistry but most of all soul mates. There are a few twists and turns along the way that will keep you even more glue to the pages as you take this journey with all the characters of this book.
There is not much more I can say without giving too much of the great story away just – You must give this book a read or any books by Michelle Dalton. You will always come up with a winner.
