Going, Going, Gone (Release date to come)more
The story begins with someone killing a man who thinks he’s meeting a boy. The past victim is out for revenge. His next target is the man’s wife. Amanda returns home after her first husband’s accidental death and troubles begin with notes in her car and a stranger in the woods. The reader knows Amanda is the target, and the author keeps the reader turning pages to find out what will happen to her. Amanda discovers her husband’s secret past, but takes longer to discover her stalker and must fight for her life and her son’s life.
Omg I almost didn’t read this because the first chapter scared me to death. So happy I continued on…wonderful story and great ending. Good job.
This book needed editing and I the word “ahold” is not in the dictionary.
This book kept me engaged and had a surprise twist at the end.
I couldn’t put it down!
Forget Me Not is about Amanda and her son Kevin visiting Summit Lake for a reading of the will appointment. Her first ex-husband died leaving her everything. It’s unclear to her why he would do such a thing when they no children together and she remarried after him. That’s not the only unusual situation in this book there’s plenty of unexpected activity taking place. Not only does Amanda find out she’s inherited everything from Brad but someone is threatening her.
A few characters are introduced to grow suspicion. Even a few name drops. For the most part Amanda is a reckless and fearless character her ignores the warning signs of danger. The scenes that bothered me were the ones with Amanda clearing the cabin of Brad’s belongings before contacting his brothers. She couldn’t wait to empty the cabin of his existence.
The execution of Amanda’s past life living in Summit Lake didn’t help progress the story. Her backstory was design to distract the reader. There were some unnecessary character introductions.
It was unclear why Kristen created an unhealthy childhood stating her parents were alcoholics and her father being physically abusive with her mom. It was not relevant to the storyline and had nothing to do with the concept. Even stating that both her husband’s had died seemed ill-placed in the story. Stating that Amanda was a writer once again held no relevance since nothing further was mentioned about her work habits. Most information pertaining to Amanda’s character was inserted with nothing to back it up with. It was a poorly design for developing a character.
It’s a slow progressing story with mundane everyday activities. It was not suspenseful or thrilling if anything it was mildly confusing. The stalking and threats were confusing. It’s a skim worthy read.
This book kind of reads like a cozy romance with minimal danger with a side order of romance. It has that all bark no bite effect.
The ending had a disappointing turn of events. Not quite the twist I was hoping for. These characters didn’t show much emotion, they seemed detached and mechanical in their movements. The dialogue was laughable given some of the circumstances these characters were in. The writing style doesn’t reflect the normal reactions of an individual given the circumstances. Amanda wakes up in a deep dark hole of wet soil as if she just woke up in bed. There was no emotional turmoil to back up the dangerous situation she was in. There wasn’t enough dialogue to drive the story in the direction it needed to become thrilling.
This was my first read by Kristen Middleton. Unfortunately her style of writing doesn’t line up with what I deem a worthy read. I prefer dialogue driven story’s with fast pace action and entertaining scenes correlating with the concept.
Great book!!
This story had a good twist ending, but that’s about all it had to make up for the constant repetitive “he said” and “she replied”. This story was a good concept and could have been so much better. Parts of it didn’t make any sense. Why would someone who inherits a cabin fully furnished hold a garage sale the next day when they hadn’t even decided whether they were going to stay in the cabin. Why did we need to know what a character thinks and then have them repeat the thought out loud? Not my favorite novel. I hope the 2nd in the series is better.
Kept you guessing throughout the whole book. A real page turner, you wanted to find out who was behind the threats but you hated the book to end
fast reading
Great reading
Good until the ending which is forced and ridiculous.
It had me on seats edge and I couldnt put it down! Great work.
I enjoyed the book,However I did think Amanda should have followed instructions and not gone out alone so much
I thought it was a good book with a great plot line. But I must admit by the end of the book I was hoping Amanda would actually be killed. Nobody can be that stupid.
I really liked it. It was different than what I normally read, the plot was very well written.
Some people may think this book has a lot of twists or surprises. I have to say I anticipated all of them except for the last one. (Maybe that means my mind is in a bad place, or maybe I read too many mysteries.) Either way, I still enjoyed this book and, for the most part, found it hair-raisingly creepy. The characters were all relatable and refreshingly normal (except for the perp, of course!)
Kept me reading trying to figure out who was terrorizing Amanda and her family.
