Captivating, relationship romance story with lots of twists and turns. The characters are intriguing. The well-written book kept my attention throughout, enjoyed reading. I have voluntarily chosen to read and review this book.
Forever in a kiss….those beautiful words define Mac and Georgie’s story. These two were drawn to each from the moment they laid eyes on each, but they both knew it would not be an easy road for them if they chose to act on their attraction.
Mac dreams of running for office so he has lived his life on the straight and narrow so no skeletons would ever appear when he was in the public eye. Georgie, on the other hand, was born into a family that had a closet full of skeletons and her family’s choices haunted her and influenced the choices she made. Can these two overcome these obstacles to be together?
Mac and Georgie’s story was a slow-burn romance with off the charts chemistry and the political intrigue of DC. This was the first book I’ve read by LJ Evans and it is the 2nd book in a series. I have not read the first book and I didn’t feel like I was missing anything, but it did make me want to read Eli and Ava’s story though.
LJ Evans wrote an emotional story about two people who know what they want, but what happens when what you thought you wanted doesn’t fill your soul? Can your dreams grow and change to include someone you didn’t expect but who feels like forever in that first kiss? I recommend reading this book to find out.
I was provided an ARC of this and any opinions are my own.
This was a good read. I did get frustrated with both Mac and Georgie a lot. There were also parts that seemed to slow the story down but all in all a good read.
Forged in Sacrifice is my first read from LJ Evans and it was alright. It took me a good bit to get into the story and part of that is because Georgie and Mac spent so much time apart and trying to avoid each other and the feelings that they stirred in one another.
I liked Mac’s pursuit of what he wanted for his life. Yes he was a military man but he was also a man who wanted the American dream. The family and a better future for those he loved. It was what motivated him his whole life. Shaped his actions and relationships. They were all leading to a bigger purpose. Until he met Georgie. She knocked his world off its axis and he didn’t know what to do about it. Especially with the connections her family had (spoiler alert, it wasn’t good).
I liked Georgie’s grit and determination. How she was working, finally, for the future she always wanted for herself. How she loved her family and without reservation even when they forced her to put herself last time and again. I could feel the tension between Mac and Georgie building bit by bit throughout the whole book. I kept waiting for them to give into what they both wanted, consequences be damned. And when they did, it was worth the wait. But you know that saying ‘when it rains, it pours?’ that was the final third of the book.
All of the drama hit at once and it was all Mac could do to keep his mind and heart in tact. He was pulled in so many directions I’m not sure how he kept up. With family, duty, politics, scandal and friendships, Forged in Sacrifice takes a hard look at how much hard work goes into making a relationship work. Mac and Georgie prove that when love is on the line, sometimes the hardest decision can also be the easiest.
