Continuing This Terrific Series By Lisa Daniels
This is the second book in the latest dragon series by the excellent paranormal writer, Lisa Daniels. This tells us the story of the meeting of Helga, a female blacksmith who isn’t too popular as people are jealous of her talents and Quentin who belongs to a clan that have made themselves very unpopular with their behaviour but he is to bring Helga back to Mia and her mate from his clan [we met them in book 1]. I loved the interaction between Helga and Quentin and it was so good to catch up with others from the previous book. Beautifully written and, as always, I can’t wait patiently for Lisa’s next book in the series. I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
Definitely recommended – looking forward to the next in the series!

Awesome story. I can’t read fast enough. I need to read faster to help them and pray to. The author makes you feel like you are part of the story. You get angry with them or for them. It is such an excellent story. I love it. This is the second in the series and they keep getting better. I received a complimentary review copy of the book and I am voluntarily leaving a honest review.
Helga was a fantastic character who was a blacksmith and was such a great female lead. Great secondary characters that also included hearing about Zaine and Mia again as they continue to fight for peace. Loved it!! Plenty of story with action and some romance. I can’t wait for the next book! I am voluntarily reviewing an arc I received from Booksprout.
The second book in the series it is a well-written story I was not putting down, it kept my interest throughout. Helga works at a man’s job with forge and anvil, doing everything she can to create, invent and repair items as they come into her shop, but everyone is not happy with what she does. Quentin Proudmoor a dragon shifter is an exile but, Zaine, the prince has sent him to find Helga when he does she has been beaten so he takes her away with him. There is danger, suspense, drama, a gem called the Star Rose has been stolen by Gorchev and betrayal. I hope there is another book to come. This book was fun to read with a women trying to make it in a mans world of work. But loving to bring things back to life out of something that is broken she hides who she is. But when a stranger comes needing her everything changes. The chemistry between these two was not something expected but oh so nice to see happen but will it be ripped away from them. I hope you enjoy this one as much as I did.

I enjoyed reading this book , it has a great storyline. I can’t wait for more from this author. I received this book as a FREE ARC copy to read and I voluntarily leave this review.
The continuation from “Ice Blood” to this book “Forge Blood” is smooth and flawless, and there are character crossovers between the two books.
This is a wonderful, intriguing dragon shifter romance and I really enjoyed reading it.
What this book is about: a young female blacksmith (Helga Green) who hides her gender while creating/repairing items. Her mother is not impressed with this idea and arranges a marriage with a wife beater/abuser for her & for her shop’s items to be taken, she is severally beaten when she resists. A dragon shifter (Quentin Proudmoor) from a exiled clan is sent to find her and he takes her to the Inner City.
What you will find in this book is: dragon shifters, hybrids, magicians, drama, intrigue, suspense, twists & turns, mystery, adventure, action, enemies, traitors, a mother’s betrayal, attractions, a dragon hatchling, imprinting, attacked, defending, death, conflict/battle, injuries, discovery, lust, passion and a steamy scene.
The characters are interesting, well developed and realistic with their emotions. The story-line and plot is well-thought out and written, it keeps the reader’s attention. I would recommend this book.

Helga Greene worked at the forge on her newest project, a collector’s quality officer’s sword. She lovingly worked the metal on the anvil, this time remembering to protect her arms and face. Before she finished, her father knocked on the door and told her that her mother wanted her presence. He picked up one of her new designs, a crossgun, then put it down when she said it didn’t work yet. Her parents wanted her to leave this work for men and be feminine instead of having muscles that didn’t look good in women’s clothes. They ignored what she wanted to do, her dream of her own blacksmith shop.
Helga’s mother put a plate down for her at the table and told her father to go do what he had to do. Her mother then told her that they had found her a husband! His family’s factory made swords and they offered them shares in the business. But she would not be allowed to do that work. Her job was keeping house and making babies. And the man knew how to use force to keep his woman in line. And… to bribe them into the deal… her mother had given them Helga’s blacksmith shop and everything she had created in it. Everything was being taken out and carted away, and when she tried to stop them, they beat her and broke her ribs while her weak father just stood there.
Zaine, the prince, had sent Quentin Proudmoor to find the amazing blacksmith who had fashioned an exquisite necklace for his “iceblood” partner, Mia. She had talent only few blacksmiths possessed, evident in how she worked the materials into a magical creation. And if Quentin could repair his family’s dishonor by his actions for the prince, gain his freedom and raise his status, his dragon would be allowed to have children. He found Helga’s house, but her mother would not help him. So he used his dragon sense’s and followed her sent to the workshop where he saw a woman on the ground and a man whose scent was of guilt and shame. Quentin offered her the job and took her to the hospital to treat the broken ribs. Helga woke to find a woman, a magician healer, fixing the broken bones and damaged lung.
Quentin saw her holding her crossgun invention her father had salvaged for her when they took everything else. He commented on it and knew it didn’t work. She wanted to see how his mind worked, so asked his opinion. He suggested springs and she immediately saw the solution! When Zaine and Mia came home, Mia kept trying to say that Zaine was a “dra…” and he kept stopping her, not knowing how Helga would react. But to all of their surprise, Helga was familiar with dragons since the blacksmith who trained her was a dragon. She knew that Zaine and Quentin were both dragons, and Zaine dragged him away to talk as Quentin’s face registered shock. Zaine ordered Quentin to get all of Helga’s things back, and he was giving him to Helga, to obey her orders – which was a further insult to put a human above a dragon. But he would give him the chance to earn back respect and would reward him if successful.
The Star Rose gem was stolen, and Zaine knew it had to be Gorchev, his enemy. Helga knew she had to find a way to fight back, by designing a powerful metal and wood staff and using prismatic gems. Her love and affection infuses the staff and gives it the special edge, Old Tam had told her. It would help Mia protect Zaine. Her inner fire burned, taking her skill higher than before. She refused to stop work to rest, though Quentin checked on her. It had to be able to stand against the Star Rose, largest gem in the world. He suggested naming it the Helgem, after its creator – Helga. With Zaine trying to negotiate peace, would war still erupt? Would Gorchev ever be thwarted, or would he keep coming after them until everything was destroyed?
This is an amazing story that grabs the reader right from the start. Betrayal is one of the leading themes throughout. But balancing that is the theme of honor, love, affection, loyalty. The story is fast-paced and does grab the emotions – definitely one worth reading!
