MISADVENTURES WITH THE DUKEChristopher Worth, the Duke of Carlyle, has a carefully cultivated reputation of ‘respectability’ but he possesses a dark, lustful heart which he reins in rather well. Except someone is out to reveal him as a wicked rogue in the tongue in cheek articles written about him by a notorious gossip columnist. Determined to unmask this meddler in his life, he finds his heart … his heart shockingly captivated by Miss Pippa Cavanaugh.
The hopes of marriage or the charming attractiveness of the Duke of Carlyle didn’t drive Pippa to pursue the most elusive catch of the season, she was out to avenge her dear friend whose heart had been callously injured. Pippa desires to reveal to society that their perfect duke is a wicked, unprincipled seducer. The last thing she expects is for the dratted man to turn the tables on her, engaging her in a dance of wits, soul stealing kisses, and unexpected, sensual adventures. Soon she must decide if he is her path to ruin or her promise of a happy ending.
WHEN THE EARL WAS WICKED
His touch awakens her desire, and his kiss demands surrender.
Lady Verity Ayles will do whatever it takes to protect herself from a vile cur, no matter how scandalous or perilous it may be. And that means aligning with James Radcliffe, the Earl of Maschelly–a scoundrel who spends his days in sin and self-indulgence, and his nights in reckless pursuits. Clearly, a man any young lady of good sense and reputation should stay away from.
James had clawed his way from poverty to the fringes of the ton using his wits and fists. His wicked reputation encourages ladies to approach him for clandestine affairs, never for anything as outrageous as Lady Verity’s request–to teach her how to fight. And in exchange, she will instruct him on all the refined manners a hulking, ruthless, fighting brute as himself needed to net a lady of quality. Never a man to resist a challenge or the company of a beautiful lady, James agrees, and soon finds himself falling endlessly in love with a woman who may never see him as the man of her dreams.
A PRINCE OF MY OWN
One tempting kiss may be her undoing…
Lady Miranda Cheswick’s is beautiful, witty, intelligent, and the family’s great expectations are for her to marry a prince or a duke! A duty she intends to fulfill despite the craving in her heart to marry for love. An accident leaves her stranded at the country estate of the enigmatic and charming Dr. Astor, a man to whom she is inexplicably attracted.
Dr. Simon Astor has little expectation of making a grand society match. His sole focus should be on caring for his patients and raising funds for the hospital he hopes to build. However, the delectable and witty Miranda tempts him at every turn, he soon finds himself falling for her irresistible charm, and wants to marry her.
Except Miranda’s mother’s devious plot will test Miranda and Simon’s resolve. Is their love strong enough to triumph?

3 Entertaining Regency Romances
All three of the stories within the Forever Yours series bundle by Stacy Reid are well written and entertaining. I enjoyed them all, but the endings of all three, though cute were not very satisfying.
Book 4 – Misadventures with the Duke
Scandal is the last thing any society miss needs or wants. So when Pippa Cavanaugh’s father abandoned his baronetcy and his family, she was relegated to the fringes of the ballroom. Any hopes she may have had to marry and have a family were dashed by the man she should have been able to trust above all others.
‘Duty and Honor’ – the family motto drilled into Christopher Worth, Duke of Carlyle since he was a lad. Indeed, he has lived by those words as he protected his family and served his king. So much so that Duke of Saints is what he’s called. However, this handsome peer hides a secret hope to someday find the right woman to become his duchess.
Misadventures with a Duke is both entertaining and engrossing. The tightly woven story is character driven and filled with passionate emotions. Stacy Reid is a very fine writer who is not too wordy, but still descriptive. She packs an emotional punch into each scene, and her sexually intimate scenes are both loving and erotic. Even the kisses between Pippa and Christopher are explosive. Lastly, the ending, which includes an epilogue, is both sweet and satisfying.
Book 5 – When the Earl was Wicked
What happened to Lady Verity Ayles should have been avenged, or at least believed. Not even her own family supported her. Years later, Verity will find her courage and her peace. With Lord James Radcliffe’s help, she may also find her heart.
This may not be a clean read, but it is still a tender-sweet story of respect lost and redemption found. James is surely every woman’s dream hero and dream lover. He’s all tough on the outside, but all that is good on the inside. Verity is a worthy heroine who has been pushed as far as possible and is ready to fight back, regardless of the consequences. Together they are perfect together, and isn’t that what a romance novel is all about.
Although the well written story is engrossing, When the Earl was Wicked by Stacy Reid is all about the characters. I just wish the ending had been more satisfying.
Book 6 – A Prince of My Own
Beautiful and titled, Lady Miranda has been brow beaten by her title-hunting mamma since she was 12. Her family doesn’t seem to understand that she only wants to marry for love.
As the third son of a duke, Dr. Simon Astor has already suffered the rejection of a title-hunting woman. If he ever gets married, it will be for love and devotion.
In many was this is a well written and sweet story with likable lead characters. Miranda’s character is both kind and spunky. Simon’s character has a deep strength and a servant’s heart. Together they are at the heart of A Prince of My Own by Stacy Reid. This character driven short tale is an easy read with some very sweet moments. I just wish there had been an epilogue, because the ending was not very satisfying.
Content 411:
Books 4 and 5 are sprinkled with course language as well as a couple of very descriptive sexual intimate scenes. Book 6 has a few course or swear words, but it also only has some passionate kissing and voiced desire.
I read all of Stacy Reid books ,love them.
The Marquess and I – Lady Willow is lovely, blind, and dowry-less. Alasdair, Marquess of Westcliffe, needs an heiress, and he craves Lady Willow. She rejected his offer of marriage when he was a mere third son. Passion reignites between them, and he makes an enticing offer she cannot resist. That draws them into a dance of desire and love despite the misgivings in his heart. Alasdair is kind, honorable, and loving. Willow is caring, strong, and impressive. This is a sweet story with lots of chemistry and love between them. It includes a good epilogue.
The Duke and I – Emmaline/Emma, a wallflower, with no decent prospect, hatched a daring seduction of a notorious duke at a masquerade ball. Her quarry was her brother’s best friend, Elliot/Duke of Hartford. She did not realize everything about her was imprinted in Elliot’s heart and mind. Her scandalous ruse was about to change and challenge everything she thought she knew about herself and he devilish duke. This is a sweet love story. Emma and Elliot are good characters. Their history is interesting. His pursuit of her is fun, and the epilogue is great.
The Viscount and I – Lady Fanny jilted a fortune hunter and a lying libertine. She has now given up on marrying for love. This time it will be strictly business, a man who will agree to her terms, give her the children she craves but not trouble her heart. Sebastian Rutledge/Viscount Shaw has desired Fanny from afar for two years, but his title is new, he owns factories, and he is not nearly good enough for an earl’s daughter. A dream opportunity arises, a marriage of convenience with the woman of his dreams. Their growing passion unleashes in the bedchamber, but his wife remains at arm’s length. Fanny and Sebastian are attracted to each other. They have fun and enjoy each other. They even click when it comes to his business. They are a good match and help each other. It includes a good epilogue.
I did not read the first set of these books. However the set is fantastic. Each story akes you want to read the next.
I like they are all together so you do not have to wait on next story
The characters were vivid and entertaining
Loved this box set. A must have for me!
A lovely story of two beautiful souls meeting under undesirable conditions. When Lady Miranda’s family coach has an accident Dr. Simon Astor and his staff come to their rescue. Apparently two coaches collided and there were casualties in both carriages. Unfortunately for Miranda’s manipulating and conniving mother her ankle was severely sprained and she had to be laid up for at least two weeks. During this time Simon and Miranda’s friendship blossomed and they shared their deepest thoughts and hopes. Eventually they fell in love. But Miranda’s title grubbing mother would not have her daughter settle for anyone less than a prince or a duke. Unbeknownst to Miranda’s family Simon is the third son of a duke. When Simon asks Miranda permission to court her, she says yes. He is to go to her father for permission. Unfortunately, all their hopes and dreams come crashing down on them when Miranda’s mother puts her and Simon’s brother the Duke in a compromising position. What can Miranda do? Does she have it in her to put a stop to her mother’s machinations? Will Simon let her marry his brother? Will he fight for her against his brother and her family? A wonderful short story filled with everything you want and expect from a romance. An excellent read and I do recommend it.
This terrific bundle brings together books four, five and six of the Forever Yours series. I really liked all three of these reads and I highly recommend them. This is my frank, freely posted review. The books included are:
Misadventures with the Duke (Forever Yours #4): (5 Stars) This was simply a wonderful read! A well written, entertaining storyline serves as the perfect backdrop for these incredibly likable characters. I loved that Pippa and Christopher were both complex characters, with cool heads and kind hearts. It is rare to find a book where both characters are portrayed in such a manner and I found it refreshing. In historical romances the heroine is often either spoiled, ditzy, a husband hunter or anti-marriage, I found Pippa refreshing. She was a smart, talented woman with a plan. As for Christopher, I felt he was quite unique also. He was not brooding or a rakehell, he was just a wonderful, thoughtful man, with firm dreams an desires about the life he wanted. In the end I thought this was a truly exceptional historical romance.
When the Earl was Wicked (Forever Yours #5): (5 Stars) I loved this book so much. It provides readers with a beautiful romance with a fresh and unique twist, a swoon worthy hero and a wounded, but strong heroine, that are all brilliantly brought together into a read that I feel not only touches your mind but your heart. What Verity went through and her actions because of it came across as real and very relatable. My heart bled for her and I felt such anger on her behalf. James, for all his rough edges and gruffness, truly had a heart of gold and was simply a great guy. I so enjoyed watching these two very different people find common ground, find the other half of their soul and fall in love. An amazing romance.
A Prince of My Own (Forever Yours #6): (5 Stars) It was so easy to get swept up into this wonderful romance. Miranda and Simon’s story was sweet and very emotional. The story line is rich with lots drama, plenty of emotional tension and a few surprising twists. In short, I thought that this was a simply heart touching romance. This book is a terrific historical romance that will keep you very entertained and on your toes as the story unfolds and the characters relationship evolves.
Misadventures with a Duke – I love Stacy’s style of writing, her stories & especially the characters she creates for our enjoyment! Christopher Worth, Duke of Carlyle is a very well behaved, handsome, rich man who prides himself on not bringing any scandal to his mother or sisters. Miss Phillipa “Pippa” Cavanaugh doesn’t quite trust men; her father, a Baron, left her & her mother, & they need money so she must find work. She finds employment writing a gossip column about the Ton since she is invited to their balls, musicals etc. When Christopher & Pippa meet, they are drawn to one another & their adventures to get them to their HEA is a fun, entertaining & a romantic romp! I highly recommend this book & the whole series to all historical romance lovers who enjoy some spice between the couple towards the end of the book!
When the Earl was Wicked – I loved this story & rooted for a happy ending for James & Verity from the beginning! Ms. Reid has such magic in her writing style & her characters are all so lovable, kind & honorable. This was a straight forward story with no foolish drama but was full of some spice, frank emotions & genuine affections. I highly recommend this book & the whole series to historical romance readers.
A Prince of My Own – Dr. Simon Astor is a country & never has wanted to treat the gentry of London’s society. He knows, even as a 3rd son of a Duke, he will not find a society match for his wife. He will keep his focus on treating his patients & raising money to build a hospital nearby. Lady Miranda Cheswick’s is, above all else, beautiful – her Mother has always had great expectations that Miranda would marry a prince or at least, a duke. Miranda has no choice, other than to fulfill duty, even though her heart yearns to marry for love. A carriage accident brings Miranda & Simon together near his estate & this is where the fun begins between them. Can people from two totally different plans for their lives meet in the middle, can the experience true love, will her family keep them apart? I highly recommend this book & the whole series for great stories & loving characters – thank you Stacy Reid for the great entertainment!
Misadventures with the Duke
I cannot say enough about how much I love Ms. Reid’s writing and storytelling. She interjects such emotion into her stories. Pippa and Christopher’s slow burn romance envelopes you into their emotions. There is scandal sheet shenanigans, hurt, betrayal, redemption, and love in their story. The letters in the newspaper really tear at your heart (yes, get out the tissues). Loved this book.
When the Earl was Wicked
When the Earl Was Wicked, this should have been named Kick-Ass Heroine. Okay, maybe not, but it was what I felt like after reading the story. I loved that Verity, who allowed herself to be afraid for so many years decided to do something about it. She embodies what so many women did not do and still do not do when confronted with men (or women) take advantage of their vulnerability. This story was so sweet in developing. And, again, Ms. Reid know how to bring out the tears.
A Prince of My Own
A redemption story that works and is lovely. Miranda, as we remember from a previous story was not very likeable. This story shows you that most everyone is redeemable – really just misunderstood. I loved that her real personality comes out and with such a sweet, kind, loving, and prince of a man, Simon. This is a very romantic story that will leave you with a huge smile on your face.
I received a complimentary copy of all three stories separately.
