Perfect Ending!
This story has a lovely twist which makes it simply perfect!
I am so happy to have read this book as it has a little bit of everything I look for in a story and in particular a great storyline and lovely characters who are well formed and a delight to watch as they go about doing what they do best.
I read an Advance Reader Copy (ARC) and this is my voluntary and unbiased opinion of it.

This is the end of the 12 Dukes series, but it was just as sweet and well-written as the rest. The plot grows carefully, with the Duke, Alexander, and the Heroine, Cynthia Louise, dancing around each other, but not really dancing together. It would be against the rules that he holds onto for dear life, as he has since he became the Duke at 17. She is friends with his sister, who was the subject of an earlier book in this series. She is trying to get him to marry her cousin, who is 18 and terribly shy. She is the alleged chaperone, single at 30.
It is fun to see how they fall for each other and how they maneuver the social world of the times. They hold on to the secret of their love as long as they can. His proposal at the end is a pure delight. Makes you wish for someone to love you like that, to snub the whole social order to be with you.
I hope there is some sort of sequel to show all of the couples together after a few years.
All in all, a very satisfying series.
An absolutely fun story. Cynthia is a delightful and charming character. She is vivacious and full of life. The Duke of Nottingvale is stoic and all about doing his duty. As everyone gathers once again in the village of Christmas there is lots of fun to be had as people let their guards down and fall in love.
