STANDALONE new adult romance from the author of The Butterfly Project and the Full Tilt Duet*
Darlene Montgomery has been to hell and back…more than once. After a stint in jail for drug possession, she is finally clean and ready to start over. Yet another failed relationship is just the motivation she needs to move from New York to San Francisco with the hopes of resurrecting her dance career and discovering that she is more than the sum of her rap sheet. As Darlene struggles in her new city, the last thing she wants is to become entangled with her handsome—but cranky—neighbor and his adorable little girl…
Sawyer Haas is weeks away from finishing law school, but exhaustion, dwindling finances, and the pressure to provide for himself and his daughter, Olivia, are wearing him down. A federal clerkship–a job he desperately needs–awaits him after graduation, but only if he passes the Bar Exam. Sawyer doesn’t have the time or patience for the capricious—if beautiful—dancer who moves into the apartment above his. But Darlene’s easy laugh and cheerful spirit seep into the cracks of his hardened heart, and slowly break down the walls he’s resurrected to keep from being betrayed ever again.
When the parents of Olivia’s absentee mother come to fight for custody, Sawyer could lose everything. To have any chance at happiness, he must trust Darlene, the woman who has somehow found her way past his brittle barbs, and Darlene must decide how much of her own bruised heart she is willing to give to Sawyer and Olivia, especially when the ghosts of her troubled past refuse to stay buried.

Everything isn’t always black and white – life and love can be messy, family is who you make it to be and sometimes you have to be brave enough to accept help and love even when you think you don’t deserve it. Sawyer Haas is a hard-working law student with a photographic memory living the life when he’s left with a 3-month old daughter from a one night stand. He loves his daughter fiercely and continues to work hard, but shuts everyone else out. Darlene Montgomery (whom we met in The Butterfly Project which is also a must read) has left NY for SF to begin again. She’s a recovering drug addict who’s determined to be a better person and return to dancing. She loves hard and with everything she has. There are so many wonderful things to say about this book. Sawyer and Darlene are real and lovable; the writing is smooth and poetic. The story pulls all the emotions – happiness, sadness, joy, love. The secondary characters not only add to the story, but you want to know more about them especially Jackson and Max. Beckett and Zelda (The Butterfly Project) make a very welcomed cameo appearance. I can’t say enough good things about this book. If you love second chances and want to read an awesome story about just that, then you need to one-click Forever Right Now!

Darlene is a young woman who embarked a new journey to San Fransisco.. a long way from the people she love.. the life she used to have… the guilt she carried… a lost sound… a recovering addict…

This two lost souls was trying to move on with life in not so easy ways…they just coasting through life..its like few pieces of puzzles.. nothing fits..so many uncertainty. ..the relationship was sweet and caring…its so selfless..it broke my heart to see them struggling..
One thing is loud and clear..this story speak about Acceptance..its not only about others.. its about yourself too!

This book deserves so much more than 5 stars, it was incredible!! Everybody needs this book. It had it all…from laugh out loud moments, to having your heart ripped out, and stomped on. I adored Darlene and Sawyer, and of course the absolutely adorable Olivia!!! There are some characters I hope we see maybe getting their own story told, and can revisit those we love!! Thank you so much Emma for giving me this amazing opportunity to read Forever Right Now, and thank you for sharing your amazing talent with us!!!
Emma doesn’t disappoint! Yet another one of her books that I can add as a Favorite! Beautiful story about not only second chances but not judging a book by its cover! Loved it!!!
Emma Scott, What have you done to me? The feels! Oh my gosh, the feels upon feels in this book! I’ve lost the ability to even. Forever Right Now is raw emotions wrapped tightly in a cocoon of pure tenderness.
Are you kidding me right now with Sawyer the Lawyer? Heart, be still. The law student is scary smart, handsome, and selfless. Okay, so he may seem cold and kind of a jerk on the outside, but that’s just his way of protecting what’s most important to him. That leads me to the fact that he’s a devoted single father to an absolutely adorable one-year-old, Olivia. Alert the ovaries!
Darlene the Tornado is a breath of fresh air. She’s such a giving soul, and I admired her ability to seek the positive in all things. Believe me, she faces more than her fair share of challenges and demons, but somehow her bright light and optimism never fade.
This love story has many sides, and I adored every single one of them. There’s an exquisite magnetism—and, might I mention, the most gratifying slow burn—between Sawyer and Darlene; a natural connection between Darlene and Olivia; and, of course, Sawyer and Olivia’s captivating affection.
Okay, so I may have grabbed a tissue or two, but that’s what you’d expect with a story that’s so intensely moving. It has its fair share of angst, but the uplifting message of hope and determination is breathtaking. The epilogue is absolute perfection.
Emma Scott has slain the heck out of this book. It’s worthy of all the stars. Be prepared to pull an all-nighter because I have a feeling that when you start reading it will be difficult for you to stop.
This was my first Emma Scott, I don’t know where have been but for once this synopsis had me oneclicking normally I wouldn’t read the synopsis I just go into books blind but as of late I have started reading them and bang this one had me intrigued. It also helped that this covered two of my favourite subjects single parent and drug addicts.
Well I will be getting more Emma Scott books that’s for sure, this book was brilliant I loved it. It was emotional, powerful, beautiful story of second chances, trying to succeed in life, it had triumphs and hitting rock bottom it was a beautifully told story,
I loved sawyer he was so guarded, but loving and driven and with trying to become a lawyer he was first and foremost the best dad in the world. Sometimes you wanted to kick him but you could understand the way he was as you got further into the book. I absolutely loved sawyer and he was a brilliant and smart guy.
Darlene was everything and more and to me it seemed she just needed someone to love her or be accepted and she had big struggles with this. I loved her best friend max he was perfect. I also loved how Darlene was not perfect but tried to be. Her character was perfection and it was so good to go through her up and downs with her.
I loved each and every other character in this book especially, Jackson, Henrietta and Elena even though they weren’t in it much I felt they were big parts of the story
This book is a great book if you love a read that will make you laugh, cry (I cried a lot) and just give you that uplifting feeling that everything can be ok then this is your book absolutely loved it.
I can’t wait to get into more Emma Scott’s book now another amazing author and writer
A massive 5 stars from me
Oh. My. Goodness!!!
This is only the second book I’ve read by Emma Scott, Sugar & Gold being the first one which I loved, but Forever Right Now has blown that one out of the water – what an intensely emotional read!!! This really put me through the wringer and I just couldn’t put it down and read it straight through in one go, only stopping to mop up my soggy face as the tears wouldn’t stop in several places. This was just such a good read, I challenge anyone to read this and not like it!!
Darlene is starting her life afresh in a new city, away from her past and her battles, where she can just concentrate on herself and maybe get back to dancing. Her first meeting with her new neighbour doesn’t go as as she would like, she is instantly attracted to his handsomeness, but he is grumpy and standoffish and quite rude at first. But she see past his walls to the person underneath all his barriers, the person juggling to keep his life on track and that of his daughters without drowning in the process. Darlene being the breath of fresh air that she is decides he needs some neighbourly help and sets about making friends.
Sawyer is just weeks away from finishing law school, but is exhausted, his money is running out and the pressure of keeping it all together for himself and his daughter are getting to him. His new neighbour becomes a whirlwind in his life, finding ways inside the walls and barriers he has built around himself. He has rules and can’t afford the distraction that is Darlene in his life, waking up feelings and emotions that he has kept on lockdown since his daughter Olivia suddenly appeared in his life.
The characters in this book are just fabulous, the story just flowed and was so true to life I couldn’t stop reading. I was gripped from the first page, and your heart will just break like mine did as the story of Darlene and Sawyer unfolds.
I loved Darlene and her quirks, her strength of character and her determination, her lack of a filter just saying what she means!! But underneath it all she is struggling, she is lonely and thinks she’s flawed making everyone walk away from her. But she does not give up!!
Sawyer was just something else, I think my ovaries exploded with how he was with his daughter and how his whole life revolved around her. Yes he is handsome and hot and sexy, but the actual sexy scenes are minimal, but the chemistry between Darlene and Sawyer just explodes off the pages. I love how he captures his own pictures and stores them in his Mega-Mind!!
A wonderful story of self discovery, learning to trust, courage, grit, determination and finding love when you least expect it. 5 beautiful dancing stars!!
I don’t have many words after finishing this story. I loved it from beginning until end and just loved the interaction between Darlene and Sawyer. A story that truly touched your heart and will stay with you beyond when you have finished it!
Darlene has been a recovery addict and is trying to make a new life somewhere else. Her passion has always been to dance but due to circumstances she had to give it up although she still dreams of doing it again. Between having her new job and attending her meetings, she has decided not to get attached to anyone but when she meets her neighbour Sawyer and his little girl, she falls for them instantly and the chemistry between her and Sawyer is palpable. Even though Sawyer doesn’t seem to want to have anything to do with her as he’s trying to raise his daughter on his own, both their walls seem to come down with time. But when Sawyer’s past comes crashing upon them, it’ll make things some more difficult.
And will Darlene’s past come in between them?…
I’m content. I’m emotional and feeling it all after finishing Forever Right Now by Emma Scott. But that’s not surprising. Scott’s work and storytelling always brings me so much joy and feels. This slow burn love story is masterly created and depicted. I was fully invested in this story almost immediately. Darlene and Sawyer’s story.
I don’t know what it is but every one of Scott’s characters not only from this book but from her other ones as well resonates with me. Her characterization, her narrative and flawless prose are her strengths. Scott knows how to utilize these to perfection and did so with Forever Right Now.
Yes, it’s a slow burn and a beautiful and emotional one at that but that’s not the only thing I loved and enjoyed about FRN. It was Darlene, Sawyer, Livvie, Max and Jax. Pretty much every character cause they had a story to tell and it was essential. They were all well developed and some flawed. Human and I connected with them. I hurt, broke and cheered for them.
Darlene and Sawyer made me soar. From their first meeting and I was done for. The pace of the story was just right cause what Darlene and Sawyer was struggling with couldn’t be rushed. It wasn’t and not only did it allow them both to grow individually but also did their friendship and relationship which was meticulously executed.
The topics in FRN are real, difficult and relatable. Emma Scott treats them with care and weaves them into the story effortlessly.
Having said that Forever Right Now is a must read. Scott doesn’t disappoint and delivers heart, story and emotion in spades. Sawyer says that Darlene is a tornado. Well, Forever Right Now tornadoed straight into my heart.
5+ BadAssDirtyTornadoStars
Another great book by a favorite author…great characters and beautiful story…
After reading the Butterfly Project, I was taken by Darlene and wanted to know her story. There’s just this connection I felt with her.
Darlene has a troubled past, but she wants to take steps to get better. With that, she moves all the way across the country. That’s when she meets Sawyer. Oh Sawyer, I just really loved him. He’s very selfless and does something that is amazing. (not giving it away)
This one of those stories that just guts you to the core. I felt everything, and the connection with these characters was incredible. I loved the feeling, of them meeting and going through life together. Darlene is one of those characters who thinks about everyone else. And even though she’s been through all of this crazy stuff. She still has that vulnerability, that need to help others.
Emma Scott has this ability to write with such heart, that you feel every word. Like she just put her heart and soul into this story. I love those type of stories. The ones that make you feel.
“I held on to him, and he held on to me, just like he promised.”
Overall, I give this Five Boundless Stars
5 thumbs up stars!
I really had no clue what this story was about. I honestly didn’t care because it’s Emma Freakin’ Scott, y’all. Her books are always something else and this one was downright ah-mazing. It gave me eleventy million emotions and I can’t even on the whole single dad and his adorable baby. Darlene is a ray of sunshine with a side of puppy dogs and rainbows. Girl, I totally want to be your bestie!
All I know is that when I finished the book, I was smiling from ear to ear and I wanted to hug my tablet. Loved, loved, loved it!
I want to be coherent but I have been up all night riding the rollercoaster of emotions with this book and I’m not sure I can express how much I loved it!
I was already a massive fan of Darlene from The Butterfly Project and this has only cemented that feeling. She is possibly my favourite ever female lead. She strives to be the best person that she can be, always working hard and making a new start for herself away from the mistakes of her past. She is sweet and fun, lovable and giving. Just the sort of person you want as a friend, I adore her.
Sawyer is a dream, he too is striving, striving to make the best life possible for him and his little girl. He is stretched to his limit, trying to do it all alone, but the whirlwind that is Darlene makes it impossible for him to shut her out. He has a warmth that he saves primarily for his daughter, but just a glimpse is enough to melt your heart.
Additional love goes out to Jackson, Henrietta and Max – all wonderful characters that brought their own something special to this story, I hope we see more of them in the future.
I went through every feeling with these characters, it was relentless in its intensity and I was left a wreck upon the shore, lashed with wave upon wave of emotion. This may just be my new favourite Emma Scott novel.
ALL the stars!!!
Emma Scott penned perfection with her newest stand alone romance Forever Right Now. So much heart and soul lives within the pages of this beautiful love story about three people who need each other now more than ever in ways they never expected. It holds within the descriptively concise and pure prose both raw honesty and naked vulnerability connecting readers to each of the main characters immediately. Through them, Emma Scott brilliantly reinforces beliefs of the rightness in second chances and the inherent goodness in humanity that’s so easy to forget a lot of the time. She cultivates this story of love, trust, and compassion without superfluous details, without glamorous fanfare. It’s a story of struggling humans stripped down to the most basic of emotions. Those basic emotions create avenues of understanding for the reader. It’s easy to fall in love with this glorious work of fiction because of the intimate setting and story Emma Scott creates.
Normally I devour books by Emma Scott. This one lacked the normally character and plot development that i had become used to. I needed just a little more backstory to explain the characters than I felt the readers got. It was still a good story just not great.
Totally enjoyed this book, and couldn’t put it down.
I wasn’t sure I would like it that much from the blurb, but I loved it. An insecure but exuberant h, recovering from drugs. A strong, smart, single dad. I chuckled some and teared up a little too. It was a good story about second chances and “families”.
It wasn’t perfect there were a few editing issues and couple of others issue for me but still a good read.
I loved this book. Great story and wonderfully written.
I started my own rating system after reading a book that ripped my heart out and stomped on it, numerous times. This rating is based on a need for tissues. This book was about a 1 1/2 tissue requirement. Mostly because of the situation with Sawyer, it really touched a place that hit me hard. However, I loved the story and I enjoyed how long it took for things to work themselves out. Some books get boring when the main characters jump right into a relationship and face unrealistic situation, but this is story is based on things that truly happen and it can be rather heartbreaking. Loved this book!
I finished Forever Right Now by Emma Scott a few hours ago. 5 beautiful, teary, empowering stars. Emma Scott’s new masterpiece weaves her prevailing theme that generosity of spirit is worth more than any pot of gold. Small acts of compassion and kindness can change another person’s life forever. And it’s a free commodity we can give anyone and everyone in abundance.
I loved Darlene. Her desire to be loved, her fears, guilt, insecurities, her acceptance she’s a disappointment to her family and friends, undeserving because of her past mistakes, never keep her from making someone else’s day easier and better. Her humor and innate kindness in spite of her own struggles to work on herself endeared her to me. Sawyer was a man among men. His emotional need for Darlene, his recognition of her goodness, his love for his baby daughter all gave their love story a poignancy that wraps around you.
Emma Scott’s writing genius weaves a beautiful love story full of feeling. To me, there is nothing better than reading a tale of ordinary people finding their missing pieces in the mutual love they find together. Turning the last page, I lay this book down with tears in my eyes and a smile in my heart.
