I found this story to be angsty but in a good way. This is more a story for teenagers so angsty is good in this case. as one who can talk like a sailor I didn’t mind the foul language and it fits the story
Boy meets girls and a friendship starts that doesn’t end. This is their story. It’s one 2 people who found each other when they were needed, it’s of loss of friendship and love. A story that makes you happy and feel sadness but at the end you smile and feel good. Definitely a story to read.
What an emotional rollercoaster this was. Loved Ace and Heath’s story. They met and become best friends. They both have feelings for each other but neither says anything. Not giving a whole lot away on this one .

#CoupleGoals…..
Okay, so maybe not in the beginning-or the middle.
They have a long, long and rocky road. Heath and Ace are besties due to tragic circumstances. Young love in bloom at it’s best -and worst because let’s be real, life happens.
I would have liked a bit more depth and deets on Aces’ fight but as is kept it more light hearted and breezy.
This is definitely a sweet tale that is hard to read at times due to the emotions it can stir up but is completely worth it.
Is it sad that I wish the heroine of the book ended up with a different character than the hero?
Friends to lovers isn’t always a favorite trope of mine and one of the main reasons being because we ALWAYS end up with the hero being and manwhore and the heroine is ALWAYS a naive, friendly virgin who sits on the sidelines waiting for her turn. This story falls right in with that and made me kinda of sit back and roll my eyes…ALOT!
Carrigan (Ace) and Heath have been best friends for the past 10 years. However, we don’t get to see any of this friendship develop. From chapter one we jump right into the middle of their Senior year of high school with Ace already feeling lusty feelings for her best friend. As for Heath and his feelings, he doesn’t start feeling anything beyond friendship feelings until Ace starts to show interest in another man.
*rolls eyes* typical male
But neither one wants to make the first move because they don’t want to ruin their decade long friendship. Plus it doesn’t help that Heath already has a “girlfriend” (a bang friend) and Ace doesn’t think she fits the mold for the wealthy girlfriend Heath’s father would demand of him.
At the end when these two finally did come together I was still so aggravated at the way Ace handled her secret.
However, in the end, after reading this I’m still left with questions.
-Why did Heath feel he had to “date” Lisa. Especially since they never had to do any family gatherings.
-What did Vince do that got him put on parole and forced to attend the school?
-How is it that Heath and Ace have been friends for 10 years, and when Heath finally confesses his feelings for Ace he says he was “an angry 10-year old”, yet he’s only 18?
3.5 out of 5 stars
The day Carrigan met Heath was the worst day of her life but she gained her best friend and her pillar of strength . The boy next door has become more after ten years of friendship there is more there then both of them realize . There is more going on then teenage angst and hidden love . The secret that Ace carries could destroy all that she and Heath have .
This book has such sweet characters , Carrigan aka Ace is sweet and been through so much in her young life. She is fun loving and sometimes comes of as very naive . Heath well he kind of drove me crazy , he comes off as an arrogant guy sometimes . He thinks that he knows all sometimes is way too protective . There are just aspects of him that drove me crazy . I did love Vincent and Rock they are cool guys that help calm both Heath and Ace . They are your typical teen agers that you will love them and hate them .
I had such promise when i started reading this book . I love best friend to love stories . This story started off with such a bang . The author takes us on an emotional journey . There is so much going on that you will be on the edge of your seat most of the story . I am glad that the author took her time in writing the sex scenes I mean you could of probably left them out if you wanted to and still get the picture . There were moments in the book where i felt that I couldn’t connect with the main characters . It seemed like the author was trying to write a more mature romance book in some areas . Then went back to the ya aspect of it . Over all the story was a good story and reminded me of the late 90s teen angst movies . So if you want an emotional story full of angst and teen age love check it out .
