So, I’ve never been interested in vampire stories and rarely read novellas, but I decided to give the audible version of Forever Kept a chance because it has a) a female scientist protagonist, b) Jason Clarke as one of the narrators, and c) romantic suspense. I haven’t read anything else in the Vampire Brides series, but it wasn’t necessary to read any others to enjoy this one.
I’m glad that I listened to Forever Kept as I liked both the performance and the story line. There was enough to the story to make it seem complete despite the novella length. I’m still not a big fan of the whole “blood is delicious” scenes, but I did add some other non-vampire Patricia D. Eddy books to my wishlist.

This is the second book of Patricia’s that I have read and it definitely won’t be my last. I really enjoyed Riley and Declan’s love story.

Forever Kept: Vampire Brides
This story was entirely too short, it was captivating, with some suspense and a lot of romance.
So hoping there is more to this series and soon.
Jason and Lucy did a great job bringing these characters to life.

Declan is a vampire that hates to kill, but he still needs blood to survive. His solution to his problem is his castle in Ireland- he has tourists visit and each time, he lured one into a dark corner, gets his fix, wipes their memory, and sends them on their way. Riley is a scientist whose life is running low since she isn’t able to find a cure, but decides to take one last trip to Ireland. Declan is easily lured to her and both of their worlds turn upside down. He can’t stop thinking about her and she’s being chased by hunters, turned into a blood slave, and ultimately has to decide if immorality is the right choice for her if it’s offered. I really fell in love with Riley’s scientific and morally right personality, but found that she was stubborn at times and didn’t always think things through. Declan had a protective and more human personality than most vampires, but was still seductive and enticing. I wish there would have been more scenery or descriptions of Ireland itself, but overall I really enjoyed this vampire suspense romance.
Jason and Lucy did an amazing job with their narration duet! Their voices flowed nicely with one another and it was always easy to tell who was speaking. I loved the Irish accent that Jason uses for Declan and together they both kept me hooked until the very end!

Forever Kept: Vampire Brides
By: Patricia D. Eddy
Narrated by: Jason Clarke, Lucy Rivers
I love the style of Patricia D Eddy’s writing, which is why I took the chance to listen to this! I am not a paranormal listener, but this book caught my ear and I couldn’t stop listening. The intriguing story of Declan and Riley had me from the start. With a chance meeting, feelings that cannot be denied and danger lurking, this couple has it all. It’s suspenseful, passionate, steamy and I could not get enough. Riley is strong, smart and I love her courage. Declan is the ultimate vampire, the one I think of when I think of creatures of the night. It’s a quick, listen that had me entertained from the first chapter. Narration by Lucy Rivers and Jason Clarke only enhanced this story. They are so good, fall into character perfectly and made me right there with them as they found their forever kept.

Forever Kept is book four in the Vampire Brides series. This is a series of eleven novellas by eleven different authors. This is the only one I’ve read so far. All can be read as stand alones.
Dr. Riley Scott is a hematologist for the University of San Francisco Medical Center. She specialized in this area so she could try to save herself. Because Riley has something wrong with her own blood. Giving up hope, she decides to take one last trip to see the sights of Ireland.
Declan Bonney is a three hundread and twenty year old vampire. He is one of the oldest vampires of Dublin. For over two hundred years, Declan has believed that no human should die from a vampire feeding on him. He takes what he needs with no harm to the human. Then he met Riley.
Riley called to Declan like no other. He knew he had to taste her blood. Then he should let her go. Only he can’t forget her and can’t help but to seek her out.
Riley finds herself thrust into a world she never knew existed. She is inexplicably drawn to Declan and doesn’t fear him. But Declan isn’t the only one who is seeking her out. And the others that are after her definitely don’t have her best interests in mind.
This was a fast paced, sexy and suspenseful short story that I enjoyed so much. There are all kinds of twists and turns that kept me turning the pages. I love this author and by now have read several of her books and have enjoyed them all, this included. If you enjoy a sexy vampire who finally finds love after over three hundred years of being alone, this one is for you.
“My heart beats only for you.”
I really enjoyed this book. It was a quick, but not so quick it feels rushed, read about a woman Riley who has a rare blood disease and she is dying. She’s spent a lot of her life and career researching her disease to see if she could possibly find a cure but she hasn’t been lucky and is only weeks maybe months from dying, so she decides she’s taking herself to Dublin to visit and enjoy the sights before her death. While in Dublin things happen and we meet the vampire Declan. I loved him, he was such a great character, he was charismatic, sweet, lethal, protective, seriously he was the total vampire package. A lot of drama and action ensues and poor Riley is caught by some not so good vamps and is tortured and held prisoner but Declan isn’t having it because he in his mind has claimed her as his. This book may have been a novella but it read like a full length book and I loved it.
Audiobook: Narrators – Jason Clarke and Lucy Rivers
Amazing narration! I loved the way the characters literally sprang from the pages of this book through the performance of these narrators. They helped to bring this story to a level simply reading it would have never done. Highly recommend this audio and will be looking for more from these narrators.
Wow! Talk about dynamite coming in small packages! That’s exactly what I got with this novella!
After spending her adulthood trying to find a cure, Riley is left to face the fact that she is dying. As a last hoorah, she takes a trip to Ireland where everything she thought she knew about life and herself is changed.
Riley was a heroine who held my heart as she bravely faces what the future holds. But when a memory of dark eyes is followed by a dinner arrival and then a semi-chase through town leaves her in the hands of a group of vampires, she finds herself struggling between fighting and yielding to the inevitable.
Declan realizes he made a horrific mistake in following Riley. One taste of her blood and he was addicted, but it’s more than that and he’s intrigued enough to insert himself into her life just a bit. Unfortunately, his actions have now landed her in the hands of vampires that will have no qualm killing her and he is working on borrowed time to find and rescue her.
While I really liked Riley and her fierce independence, it was Declan that stole my heart. He is that perfect hero that has an instant attraction to the heroine and then finds himself needing her despite what he knows is the right thing to do, which would be to leave her alone. Of course, finding her in harm, he can’t do that and what follows is the beginning of a relationship that has no hope of ever developing into anything.
For such a short little story, this book held quite a punch. There was a ton of action, drama, horror, and heart wrenching romance between two people that are each facing insurmountable odds. With each additional layer to this story I thought I was going to lose my freaking mind. I thought this was going to be a laid back easy read/listen and boy was I wrong. This novella sucker punched me! And I’m usually not a fan of novellas, but this didn’t feel like one…until it ended and I was left wanting more of Declan and Riley.
Highly recommend this vampire romance that can be read as a standalone. I haven’t read any in the series and I wasn’t lost at all.
A new to me author. I am a huge fan of Paranormal and have been reading the Vampire Bride novellas that have been getting released from the Midnight Coven Author’s and have been loving every minute of them.
I love the connection between Riley and Declan. I felt that there Story was told so wonderfully. But I would like to see more from them in the future. I will be looking at other books by Patricia now and I have really enjoyed her writing style and the wonderful characters she has created.
Dr. Riley Scott is a Hematologist that was born with a rare blood disorder, and is hoping to find a cure. With time running out for her to live she decides to take it one final holiday. But what she finds is more than she had bargained for.
Declan, a 300 year old vampire is drawn to Riley. Hungry and needing blood he lures Riley to him but there is something to her and he needs to find out what it is.

Forever Kept: Vampire Brides
By: Patricia D. Eddy
Narrated by: Jason Clarke, Lucy Rivers
This is the second book from the “Vampire Brides” series that I have had the pleasure to enjoy. They are a series of stand-alone novellas and “Forever Kept” is Patricia D. Eddy’s contribution and wow what a contribution it is. She is such a creative writer, I am amazed at how much story she fit in to her novella. Her storylines are original, imaginative and interesting, they captivated me from start to end. The characters she created are complex and well developed. Dr. Riley Scott, a scientist was born with a rare blood disorder, she studies hematology hoping to find a cure. With time running out for her she decided to go on one last vacation and traveled to Ireland. Declan, a 300 year old vampire, is drawn to Riley. He summons her to have a taste of her blood and finds there is something to her and he needs to find out what it is. I loved how everything played out, his pursuing her, she stumbling upon trouble and the twists of what her blood can do and who wants her for that blood. I highly recommend this fast paced story, it has it all, drama, twists, mystery, suspense and some hot romance. Patricia D. Eddy thank you for this greatly enjoyable story!
I listened to the Audible edition, Jason Clarke and Lucy Rivers are wonderful narrators and voice performers. They bring the characters to life, give each their own unique voice and personality. Awesome job on the different accents too, loved Jason’s Irish dialogue. It is a pleasure to listen to both these talented storytellers. Thank you for another great listen

It has an interesting plot, I loved the mystery behind it.
A quick read but I never felt that the story was rushed.
Ended perfectly, but I still want more I hope this isn’t the last of Declan and Riley
What a perfect paranormal romance! Patricia Eddy has created two marvelous characters within an intriguing, evenly paced story. Declan Bonney and Riley Scott by a quirk of fate, cross one another’s paths with unexpected consequences. Danger from warring factions surrounds them both as the bond between them strengthens and their attraction to one another becomes palpable. She becomes his sun and he gives her hope.
This was a great quick read that had almost insta love but with a reason behind it, I really liked both Riley and Declan as they both thought their futures were bleak for different reasons and Rileys last hurah changes life for both. there is some good angst and frustrations for them as well as dangers from all sides which may for deadly for one of them and this keeps you on your toes to see what will happen. I hope this isn’t the last we see of Riley and Declan as there is a lot more to be told about them!
