New York Times Bestseller: This anthology of Erma Bombeck’s most memorable and humorous essays is a tribute to one of America’s sharpest wits. When she began writing her regular newspaper column in 1965, Erma Bombeck’s goal was to make housewives laugh. Thirty years later, she had published more than four thousand columns, and earned countless laughs—from housewives, presidents, and everyone in … presidents, and everyone in between.
With grace, good humor, and razor-sharp prose, she gently skewered every aspect of the American family. This collection holds the best of her columns—not just her famous quips, but also the heartbreaking observations that gave her writing such weight. In 1969, Erma wrote: “screaming kids, unpaid bills, green leftovers, husbands behind newspapers, basketballs in the bathroom. They’re real . . . they’re warm . . . they’re the only bit of normalcy left in this cockeyed world, and I’m going to cling to it like life itself.”
With what Publishers Weekly calls her “infectious sense of human absurdity,” Erma Bombeck’s writing remains a timeless examination of the still-cockeyed world. This ebook features an illustrated biography of Erma Bombeck including rare images and never-before-seen documents from the author’s estate.

Classic Erma! Always a fun read.
Big fan. Miss her.
This book is funny in a timeless way.
Good-bye Erma.
I loved reading Erma Bombeck. Everything she wrote was about her family. It was very funny during her time. Not sure that the younger generation would get all her humor.
I read Erma before she passed away and I loved her columns very much. I plan to get even more of her books because they are so delightful. This one since the best of her writing was included in this book. I don’t envy the editors having to pick out what they thought was her best. Even so, it was a very good job.
This book was so funny. I always like Erma Bombeck
A fun trip through time… a relaxing good chuckle
Erma Bombeck is always a classic. Love going back in time with her to pre-internet and cell phone days!
I love Erma Bromback. She was a great LADY!!!!
If you want to take a break from another book this is your answer
Love Erma! Funny and touching at the same time.
This is a compilation of Erma’s columns. It is extremely realistic about every day life. She is funny and witty and it’s a great book to read. This book was compiled after Erma had passed away from kidney disease. So there is an air of sadness about it. Her husband Bill writes the last chapter. Have some Kleenex ready.
I did not like this book and would not recommend it
I have always loved Erma! She definitely knew how to keep me laughing! I am so sorry that she is no longer with us! I highly recommend all of her books!
What can you say about Erma? Delightful truths applied from day to day issues we have all faced.
Wonderful to re-read Irma Bombeck’s short, witty & down-to-earth articles that were in the newspaper many years ago. A good book to pick up and read from time to time. She could always make me smile.
Erma was a very special Lady. Taken way too soon. GOD had other plans for her, sure she is Heavan keeping the angels in stitches!
If you grew up with Erma it is nice to revisit her stories.
I loved Erma Bombeck when I was younger, but now it’s hard to relate to a world full of housewives. Her columns are still amusing, but not as fabulous as I had remembered.
