Five hundred years ago, Hayden fell into Caleb’s brutal hands, the ruthless vampire who first claimed his mortal life, then his mind. Tortured into absolute submission, Hayden spent centuries at the powerful lord’s right hand, a broken shell of the man he had once been. Until the night he was sent to kill her. Katherine, a young woman whose innocence and sweet nature woke a part of him Hayden had … had thought long dead.
After joining forces with the local vampire coven, Hayden turned on his master, betraying the man he had sworn to eternally obey. However, before the villain could be laid to permanent rest, Caleb vanished.
Katherine fell hard for Hayden’s protective nature, while his mysterious aura captivated her. Yet after only a single night in his arms, Hayden pushed her away, stating their love could never be. Confused by the rejection, Katherine struggled to move forward, left with no options but to deny her heart the battered soul it craved.
Now, Caleb has returned, set on delivering vengeance against both the man who betrayed him, and the catalyst for his defection. Katherine and Hayden must discover a way to avoid Caleb’s evil intent, while determining if there is any future for their love.

What a way to start a book! It starts with Hayden pretty much being abused by what will be his sire. Caleb is an awful Master that forces him into a rough existence. It’s so bad that when he meets Katherine he tried to not love her and then leaves her to keep her safe. Unfortunately date and Caleb have other plans. Well written engrossing vampire romance that will keep you turning the page until you got the end. I really liked it so I give it 4/5 stars.
Way too much graphic torture
Audiobook version: 3 stars overall, 2 stars story, 4 stars narration
I had been looking forward to listening to this vampire romance novella, but I found the romantic relationship to be underdeveloped, and there was an objectionable amount of bloody torture. I think that this 3-hour novella has more scenes with skin flaying than most full length horror novels or violent thrillers! Yes, the blurb hinted that the vampire villain Caleb conducted torture, but the reality of the graphic nature of the perverted violence in this book is ten times worse than what was indicated in the blurb. In addition, FYI, there was also sexual assault, but the author thankfully held back enough details that I am not complaining about that. Overall, there was way too much emphasis on the villain’s awful activities and not enough romance.
Previously, I have listened to and loved K.L. Bone’s “Wicked Desires” and “Embracing the Dragon”, so the author’s choices for graphic torture in this novella were puzzling to me. Other aspects of the story were underwhelming, and the story did not hold my attention very well. The lead characters Hayden and Katherine were likable but a little boring. The plot was rather predictable and not original. In addition, I thought there was a little too much jumping back and forward in the timeline.
The solo narrator, Kylie Stewart, gave a solid performance. She has lovely posh English accent and melodic voice. She is very good at male and female voices. Occasionally, I thought her pacing was a little too slow.

Forever Chosen by K.L. Bone is a standalone novella featured in the Vampire Brides series that I listened to on audio narrated by Kylie Stewart.
This is the third book of K.L. that I have read and it did not disappoint. I do have to say the book does jump around in time so listening on audio while working was a bit confusing and I had to rewind a few times. However, I really did enjoy the story.
Kylie did an amazing job on the narration. I absolutely love her voice. She does a great job with different voices for each character so it makes it easy to follow along with the storyline.

Hayden was once a knight for an English king, but was tortured, enslaved, seduced, and turned by a sadistic and psychopathic French vampire, Caleb. He’s done centuries worth of horrible things to serve Caleb blindly until he’s ordered to kill Katherine, a sweet and innocent woman who has brought light and love back into his life after so much darkness. Hayden tries to stay noble and protect her by keeping his distance, but passion wins and the past can’t easily be left behind. KL created an amazing backstory for Hayden and that was very detailed and heartbreaking. Caleb was an easy villain to hate and you couldn’t help but root for Hayden to officially break the sire bond and have his HEA with Katherine. This book was filled with torture, romance, death, sacrifice, betrayal, and some darker themes. I’m looking forward to reading the other stand-alone books in the Vampire Brides series to learn more about this world.
Kylie did an amazing job with this narration! Her voice is easy to listen to and captivates you from the start. I love the different voices that she used for each character and how well she portrayed Hayden’s pain in her performance.

This book captures your attention quickly and holds it, it was a great read
Sorry did not finish. I had trouble trying to keep up with who’s POV I was reading. I do believe this could end up being a really great story but I was having trouble wrapping my mind around what was happening and who was telling the story.
